Elegant Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Looking at those picures, people will just assume your a girl, no guessing needed, until maybe they hear you speak? Well, gothic fashion is usually about being camp... I didn't say it's a look for everyday / street-heeling, but it might be nice for dark independent parties I attend. Oh, and I don't speak/ sing in falsetto, I use my natural voice which is quite low - so many people are flabbergasted when someone who's supposed to be a girl [judging from their appearance] speaks in a manly voice . I love the shock value and subversiveness of gender-bending. Not really seeing anything in the middle, but whats with the purse over your shoulder? Who sits in there living room with a purse over their shoulder? Well, did I say the pics were supposed to depict a realistic situation? Posing for a model [especially amateur one ] involves more or less artificiality, so, while I wouldn't normally have any reason for sitting in a living room with a purse, why shouldn't I do it when posing? And, as for leather: I wear it everyday [except for the summer], usually head to toe. My interest in leather started long ago, strictly as a fetish [and, as such, it was hidden from the others], but since Jan 2006 it's been my fashion/ lifestyle choice . What is good for a goose, can be good for any gender!
Stilettoscot Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Nicely done Daniel! Hoping to wear in some shoes shopping this weekend. That way, I can see what the clothes I buy will look like with my new shoes... I am saying that now, but I hope I won't chicken out when I park near the store door.. Johnnie, Good stuff! Comfortable, yet wear the heels well. Elegant, How your aim was when you dressed like that certainly comes across in all your posts. Nicely done. I like all 3 last looks. I think the biggest factor in all 3 is the fact that, though very different, all 3 seem very "at ease" and comfortable. Ready to go out! Thanks all! Walking in ultra-highs because it's exciting...and it is!!
NewfieGuyInHeels Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Hey all, just did a couple new pics so I thought I'd share. This one isn't something I think I would wear out. I made the skirt from an old pair of pleather pants, which is why it looks shabby, I did it just so I could see what it looks like if I had a decent one. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j78/darthraze/Me190.jpg And this one I prolly would wear out for a casual day shopping and such. The Tshirt is from Buffalo (The store not the place) the jeans are Women's slim jeans by gloria vanderbilt (sp?) and the flats are from Spring (former Transit) clearence for $5! http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j78/darthraze/Me188.jpg http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j78/darthraze/

I like the look a lot, the leather skirt matches very well with knee boots. Just a comment, next time double check your zipper. It's open! Flavio - Brazilian heel lover, now in France.
NewfieGuyInHeels Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 HAHA. I knew someone was gonna say that. Honestly it's not. The flap that's suppose to cover the zipper isn't sewn right or something and the zipper comes out to the side, It's weird. But if you look closer you can see the pull tab. Thanks tho! http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j78/darthraze/
Bootking Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Nice boots; treat yourself to the real pants (or skirt)! It's all about the heel!
Elegant Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I like your boots, but the ballet flats have too much toe cleavage [just my opinion, of course]. Oh, and a few words from a leather afficionado I am: a genuine leather skirt would look a lot better than pleather [unless you don't wear leather by principle, of course]. What is good for a goose, can be good for any gender!
NewfieGuyInHeels Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Thanks guys, I know I'm gonna get alot of flak for this next comment, but I actually like pleather and vinyl better. Yes I know leather breathes better and is more durable etc. But I like pleather, I'm not sure why, I just do. http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j78/darthraze/
Stilettoscot Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I like pleather because it's cheaper..LOL Seriously, not too bad. I agree with Elegant, too much toe in the flats. Do think you should wear the first outfit out. Walking in ultra-highs because it's exciting...and it is!!
kneehighs Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 I realize this is a repeat outfit of sorts, but I wanted to post this picture some random girl took of me last night. By the way, the pointy shoe is about to return. Chloe, Lanvin, Balenciaga, AND Givenchy ALL styled their runway models in pointy shoes for their F/W 08/09 shows. I did get a few compliments from girls, mostly the stylish ones. One girl said she was admiring my outfit, particularly the contrast peach color of the top and the contrast of skin showing on the pumps. Another girl was a buyer and she too said the pumps worked (after her friend motioned me over to talk). top--Marc by Marc Jacobs black shirt with sleeves--vintage jeans--Urban Outfitters pumps--4" pointy pumps--Nine West Feminine Style . Stilettoscot Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 OK, finally had a good adventure. The entire adventure will wait until later as I need to sleep (just getting in from the club!), but here's what I wore out (more pics from my friend's camera soon): G-Unit button down shirt, red being the strong color (with navy and white). Touch, women's wide waist belt, dark jeans with slight flare (LOVE the fit). Size 10, Anne Michelle 5" (1/2" platform) RED (bold) mesh, peep toe pumps with wood brown heel and platform. "Problem" was, not the kind of shoes and outfit to wear stockings with, meaning my feet got beat. BUT, they DID show off my pedicured (and freshly polished) toes! Story tomorrow, but suffice to say a birthday party, and 4 hours of techno dance and I had a blast! Think I did OK for myself considering the only place I shopped was AJ Wright. Did pick up a few other outfits... Pic 1 & 2 getting in a few minutes ago trying to get the 10 second timer going. Pic 3...these shoes DID show off my "pretty" feet! Walking in ultra-highs because it's exciting...and it is!!

kneehighs Posted June 22, 2008 Author Posted June 22, 2008 Stilettoscot Thanks for posting pictures of yourself. You definitely have a RURAL/COUNTRY red/white/blue striped theme going on. What I am about to say is just my opinion and you can take it or leave it as you see fit. I think you did a good job color coordinating the shirt and shoes and sensitivity to proper color coordination is a timeless discipline that you want to employ with perpetuity in your newly discovered quest for personal style. What you can improve? I'd go for a more Urban/Big City look. The shirt The brightness of the red contrasted with the darkness of the jeans makes you look top heavy. I think you have a high contrast between your facial skin tone and hair color, so I would go with stronger colors like black, navy blue, and dark brown for a color that you want displayed near your face and continues that dark (hair) vs. light (skin) contrast. Go to a store and hold up many different types of shirts against your face while standing in front of a mirror. Take your time and have fun. For examples on how to combine different tones of dark colors, check out the runway shows of Raf Simons, Ann Demeulemeester, and Rick Owens. Also, stick with long sleeved oxford button down shirts. If you are hot, you can always cuff up the sleeves, which will produce a relaxed and casual image. The jeans How low rise are these jeans? How high is the rise, about 9-10 inches? I'm just curious as I can't see from the pictures. The crease down the front of the jeans adds a vertical stripe, which enhances the illusion of slimness. I can't tell from the images if they are bootcut or straight cut though. I think straight cut would work for your body type -- provided they cover a couple inches of the heel -- as the straight cut hem will make your legs appear to be one long image as opposed to a chopped/curved image that bootcut or flared jeans will create. Try some pants as an alternative to jeans. They will dress you "up". The shoes A bit too loud for my taste. If you want to wear pumps, stick with neutral colored, almond and closed toe pumps: black or brown. The Nine West Marquee would work well. It's still a pump and the cone heel might better suit your body type. You could also wear them for many years, it would be a timeless addition to your wardrobe. Good luck and thanks for having the courage to share your progress with everyone. Feminine Style . Masculine Soul. Skin In The Game.

gwl1 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Stilettoscot, Kneehighs has given you some excellent advice. I would like to offer some additional comments. His comments about the shirt selection are right on. But I would suggest that there might also be other shirts (pullovers) that could look good, too, so be open and try lots of different types to see what looks good on you. Follow his advice on color, though. You don't want to look top-heavy. I would add a white shirt to the list, especially for a dressier look. It's timeless and neutral and goes with everything. I wouldn't dismiss boot cut jeans as a classy alternative, however. I think the boot cut looks good because it falls nicely over the ankle and heel and can come down closer to the floor in a smooth curved line. Just my opinion. Try some on (get them longer than you would wear with flat shoes) and see for yourself. I definitely agree with Kneehighs on trying pants as a dressier alternative. Jeans scream "casual," which is ok, but you'll look awesome with nicely pressed dress pants. There's a middle ground, too, and that's jeans that aren't denim blue. Black or khaki, for instance, might work with certain outfits to dress them up, more than casual but less dressy than slacks. I agree 100% on the Nine West shoes that Kneehighs suggests. The slightly thicker heel and the rounded toe of the Nine West shoes are timeless and definitely classy, as opposed to the more trendy red shoes you wore. Get a pair like that and wear them with black sheer hose (not to camouflage the shoes, but just because dark hose gives a classy, finished appearance). With khaki slacks you could get away with nude sheer hose. Don't wear barefoot. In spite of the fact that it's trendy, it's an unfinished look and will detract from the overall put-together appearance you're trying to achieve. Wear hose. You have great potential to wear some really knock-out outfits, and without spending too much money, you can really show off a confident look that gets you some real admiration from both genders. Go for it! GWL
Stilettoscot Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 gwl1 - Roni - Kneehighs, Great tips! Thank you! Just got in from a short, trip out to a local bar...unfortunately alone. Seems it was the kind of day that noone was around, including Jen, the girl I met while having a pedicure last week. 9:30PM comes, and I get bored. Throw an outfit together. Talked myself, against better judgement, to wear my 6" Pleaser Dominas. Good thing is the outfit actually, to me, looks pretty decent, and is black. Shirt - 50M Virgola Silk. Pants - Size 18 Jessica Simpson, black, flare bottom. Black stockings with affore mentioned Dominas. Arrived to the bar on "Saturday Is Such A Drag" night, yet somehow (THANK GOD!!) found a space close to the door. Shoes prove tough to walk in, but I managed. Opened the bouncer's eyes a bit, as I wore them in with pants rolled up to reveal them. Once inside, though, too dark to really show em off like I'd have hoped. Fairly uneventful 3 drinks, and limited dancing. Ankles ached a bit, and I got tired quick, but felt SO good in the super high heels! Enjoyed a couple of shows there, chatted with a couple "divas" who were duly impressed with my heel height, but not much more happened. Drive home and my gas light goes on. Oh well, this would challenge me a bit, as the only gas station along the route is a busy one with a 7-11. Lots of people there, but somehow managed to walk from the pump, into the store, paid for the gas and bottled water, and got back to the "security" of the car area with only a couple looks from the lady behind the register, and the old guy pumping gas on the opposite bay from me. I probably only got the looks I did due to having to walk really slow at this point. By this time, of course, my pant legs hung down and nearly covered the heel.... Still, got a decent work-out, though the stairs were a real test. But just wish my club-pals weren't MIA... Here's the pic from a few minutes ago, and a couple showing the LONG heel and how the pant leg hung over nicely. Walking in ultra-highs because it's exciting...and it is!!
Antonio Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Excellent outfit Stilettoscott, you really made something wonderfull with those jeans, the heels look great! Nice style, thanks for sharing
johnieheel Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 That is a really good look Scott! Good job. You only go around once on this planet and after that, who cares? Be yourself while you can. real men wear heels
Thighbootguy Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Scott – Great outing and thanks for sharing. Sounds like your body is trying to tell you it isn’t ready for 6” heels quite yet. Heeling isn’t supposed to be about enduring pain. You might consider a little more practice in the 6” heels until the experience is more comfortable. Until then, 5” heels still look great. I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
ShockQueen Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I have one fave from back in the 90's (when I was a LOT thinner) and had one of my good friends shoot it. Although it's not clear in the pic, I was wearing black satin 5" pumps this night. I just like the way it turned out. SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!

Actually, it wasn't painful as much as my ankles being just tired. I do agree I ain't ready to club with 6" heels yet, but the shoes fit nice enough so no pain. The red 5" pumps from last week hurt, but that's because they weren't right for my feet (even though they looked good..lol). Thanks guys! PS, Shock, the heels are quite noticable and sleek and lovely! Thanks! Walking in ultra-highs because it's exciting...and it is!!

That is a great look for you and I admire the fact you went out in 6" high heels (georgous shoes, too). I have not worn 6" high heels in public that often because I can't walk very fast in them. You have inspired me to wear my 6" stiletto high heels on my next public outing. It sound like you are really having fun public heeling. This site is a great inspiration. Congrats again on your outing.
kneehighs Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 I wonder sometimes if guys in here understand that it's okay to by fashionably imperfect. Think Kate Moss. Something is almost always off--messy hair, mismatched accessories, wrinkled shirts. YET, she always looks amazing. You don't have to be ready for a photo shoot to go out in the world and wear high heels. You don't have to perfectly imitate the rebelliousness and raunchiness of the Rolling Stones to look good. Nor do you have to perfectly imitate The Sex Pistols' spiked leather jackets, torn stockings, and pierced bodies. Your look can't appear staged...It has to look effortless. So where do you begin? Have you ever been inspired by someone who walked into a room or down the street, that you had to take a second look over? Confidence captivates people. I'd say begin with confidence that you respect yourself in heels, love yourself in heels, and dress for yourself and nobody else. Have you ever seen a 6' tall woman in stilettos? I have. And I was "wowed", because she had a great attitude. I think style is being confident about who you want to be and going out and seeking inspirations for that. It could be people from your childhood (my mom always wore blazers), from your travels (Parisian effortless elegance in heels for me please), art (look at YSL's Mondrian dress...YSL took Mondrian's idea and fitted it to the female form), music (in the 90's Marc Jacobs saw Cobain in a plaid flannel shirt...then bought a $2 version of it on St. Mark's Place, had it shipped to Italy, and had the plaid pattern made into silk. And the birth of the high end version of "Nirvana" ensued). This is one of the benefits of living in a big city....soo much inspiration everywhere...New York...definitely London (Brick Lane/Shoreditch/Hoxton may be passe for you locals, but avid tourists like me still find many style muses there). So find some inspiration! Wooohooo. zzz...it's 12:37 am and I have to work tomorrow morning...signing off. DOUBLE EDIT: wanted to add a quick story about an encounter I had with Marc Jacobs. As you may or may not recall, a few months ago I spent the evening with a gorgeous 5'11" blonde swapping clothes. We went through her entire wardrobe...mostly high end designer stuff...and I walked off with a grey sweater dress with the most amazing geometric triangular avant-garde collar... and ran into Marc Jacobs on the street. Of course I had to approach him and say hello. But before a word came out of my mouth, Mr. Jacobs exclaimed, "Nice dress!" HA! How is that for a good attitude? Feminine Style . Masculine Soul. Bubba136 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 DOUBLE EDIT: [snip] ran into Marc Jacobs on the street. Of course I had to approach him and say hello. But before a word came out of my mouth, Mr. Jacobs exclaimed, "Nice dress! Had you ever met Mr. Jacobs before? Did he know who you were? (forgive me, but if you've ever mentioned here that you encountered him before, I can't recall) Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
William Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Scott, I like the look you've got in your 6" heels. I'm curious about your overall size. I've been shy of wearing the really thin heels because I'm not thin. I'm just under 6 feet tall, with a 37" waist, and an athletic build (under my beer gut). I think you look great! I'd dance with you!!! You are totally rocking those heels. Keep it up! Wil
kneehighs Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 Were you wearing the dress? You mean the Sweater dress, which draped in length just past my buttocks? Yes, I was wearing it with black skinny jeans tucked into black knee high riding boots. Had you ever met Mr. Jacobs before? Did he know who you were? (forgive me, but if you've ever mentioned here that you encountered him before, I can't recall) No, I don't know Marc. I've crossed paths with him three times and introduced myself three times, but that's it. Feminine Style . Masculine Soul. Skin In The Game.
