JeffB Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 10/10/2010: Another day, another outing in thigh high boots. For today's little adventure, I reworked my "man in black" theme from this past summer for today's outfit: My Sears blazer over a t-shirt from JCPenney, Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans (size 14, good and tight, just the way I like 'em), the Pleaser Legend 8868 thigh boots and my short strap handbag, all in black. Oh, yeah, even my underwear (women's French cut briefs) was black. When I looked over the pics I took of myself before departing, I smiled, thinking to myself, "Damn! I sure look awesome! Hell, even sexy!" With plenty of sunshine, blue skies and temps in the upper 60's, I headed out to Parx Casino in Bensalem as I had $25.00 in slot dollars burning a hole in my wallet. I arrived there around 11:30 and it was fairly quiet inside, not much in the way of action, but then, I guess folks were still in church at that time. I went over and spent my slot dollars on a one cent "Sex and the City" machine and, after playing for a good half an hour, I got lucky, well, lucky for me anyway as I won over $125.00. WHOO! Deciding I had enough fun and frolic, I cashed out, got my voucher, pocketed my money then went over to the lounge area which had a boatload of big screen TV's tuned in to NFL action and busied myself watching football for three hours. Never watched four games at once before. Gotta say that was plenty enjoyable. Heh! By four p.m., I packed up and left as I wanted to hit Best Buy with that C-note so I could spend with semi-wild abandon. Took a little longer to get to the western 'burbs than I planned since I major thoroughfare I needed to take was temporarily closed since it was part of the route taken by President Obama's motorcade as he was in town. By the time I got to Best Buy, it was almost six, but I still had plenty of time to do some quick, but spirited shopping with my free money, buying the Blu-Ray versions of The Exorcist and Dirty Harry. While I was wandering the aisles, I did hear some muffled male laughter from several feet behind me, but I paid that no attention. After I left the store, I made a quick stop down the road at Borders to pick up the newest issue of Macworld. After that, my third and final stop of the day was a block away at Starbucks for a cup of iced tea, a spur of the moment thing. There were only half a dozen people in the store when I entered, after I made my purchase, a fellow who had been at a table tapping away on his laptop smiled at me and said he had never seen a guy wearing high heels before, then said my boots looked nice. I smiled back and thanked him for the compliment. It wasn't often that a guy complimented me on my heels. This was quite an enjoyable jaunt, one made all the more enjoyable from wearing the thigh boots, and being dressed from head to toe in black made me feel bold and fierce and dynamic, it was really exciting, not to mention thrilling. I've also seen from back to back outings that people take notice of the boots, and, for the most part, the observations from passersby I've encountered have been pleasantly positive. As I've said, this is highly exciting, and already, I can't wait for my next jaunt in my thigh boots which I've come to truly love wearing. I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
ShockQueen Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKIN' post there JeffB! That outfit looked amazing! Glad your jaunt went so well! SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!
Tech Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Jeff The "handbag" looks stupid, totally stupid, like an "Armpit bag" or something just as rediculous, oh, and WAYYYYYY too much information about your underwear... we truly dont need nor want to know why any man would wear such i'll fitting clothing, unless of course those extremely "un-roomy" undies are a perfect fit, but then thats really not something to brag about now, is it... The overall look is "ok",could be better if the heels themselves were not "stiletto" but that handbag is laughable, like dirty harry with a plastic water pistol... JeffB Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 To each their own, Tech. I expect no less from our resident grouch. Nevertheless, I appreciate your comments, even if I happen to disagree with them. But hey, that's the beauty of forums like this as we can present opposing views on topics and subjects and respect each other for doing so. 1 I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Mr. X Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Nice read as always Jeff. The Johnny cash all in black look suits you well.

Indeed, I've had a LOT of opinions throw my way in the last 12 months, and listening to them respectfully, no matter how rough they can be is fine.. I dont mind being the resident grouch, I like to think I'm getting rather good at it The part about the underwear though, that wasnt really an opinon, we really dont want people posting things like that here... lol Heels for Men // Legwear Fashion // HHPlace Guidelines If something doesn't look right, please report the content ASAP!
roniheels Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Jeff ... Nice look, nice outfit, and I love the stiletto heeled thigh boots with the outfit. Too bad you didn't turn and wave to the guy giggling at you. That's what I do if I hear any chuckles aimed at me when I wear high heels in public. I haven't been to Best Buy in high heels, so I'm going to have to give that a try and see what happens. That's one reason I love reading your jaunts. You always give me ideas of new places to go in hgih heels. As always, thank you for your contributions and keep the posts coming.
Bubba136 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I dont mind being the resident grouch, I like to think I'm getting rather good at it Probably didn't take much practice to get that way Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

But hey, that's the beauty of forums like this as we can present opposing views on topics and subjects and respect each other for doing so. Hehe, think you are right. I have to admit, that i also don't like your styling too much either ... i don't like tight highs much in general, maybe ones not stiletto but either low-chunky-heel or flat ones would fit better in accordance to the rest of the outfit and in my view the jacket is too bulky, but hey fashion remains a matter of taste. Much more important for me is your attitude towards it all and that's what i admire.
danielp6406 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Greetings JeffB :-) Nice outfit and boots ! I see you are a fan of Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans ? Me too: I have three pairs (Blue-Beige-Black). I like them very much: Not too tight and not too loose They are a perfect fit ! (And I like the "extra room" they got down there...) A note about the shoulder bag (This is just my opinion) The shoulder strap is too short... What about trying a bag with a longer shoulder strap next time ? I think a bag which is near the waist line or a little bit higher would look much better...
JeffB Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Thanks for the comments, everyone! Just like with Tech, I appreciate them! The "all-black" look was something I liked and wanted to experiment with again, and I thought it worked quite well. I would've worn my leather jacket instead of the blazer that day, but it was too warm outside for the former. Hmm! Seems no one liked the shoulder bag, okay, I can grasp that, perhaps I'll give kneehighs' or danielp6406's suggestions a try in the future. By the by, danielp6406, yes, I do like the Amanda Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans which fit me like a second skin and look darn good on me, I have them in black, classic and antique. And yeah, wearing ladies' jeans is fun! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Tech Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Jeff, why the need for any "handbag" at all? No offence but (Here we go again lol) a big strapping lad like you looks odd with some dainty fem bag. The accessories dont match your build. No different with women either, I've seen big strapping women with tiny little handbags and thought "Whats the point"? Just looks even more odd when its a big bloke with small fem accessories The blazer is definately a better look than the leather jacket. Leather jackets are soooo old, nearly as old as pony-tails/headbands lol... Heels for Men // Legwear Fashion // HHPlace Guidelines If something doesn't look right, please report the content ASAP!
Thighbootguy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Sorry I’m so late in posting. I rather like the shoulder bag. I even bought one that I use occasionally because of you example. My regular bag is a log strap (bag hangs at my waist) that I use all the time for normal wear. To answer Tech’s question “why the need for any "handbag" at all?”, you need someplace to carry you stuff like keys, money, driver license… I do like a leather jacket better than a blazer but then this is an opinion coming from a guy that wears a pony tail and a sweat band as regular wear. I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
Bubba136 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 "but then this is an opinion coming from a guy that wears a pony tail and a sweat band as regular wear." I've often wondered about the "sweat band," TBG. Do you wear it for functional purposes or just as a "fashion statement?" If it's functional, are you really that nervous wearing heels and skirts in public that you need a "sweat catcher" ? (poke-a-fun at'cha) Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Tech Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 you need someplace to carry you stuff like keys, money, driver license… The only reason women use one is due to tight clingy dresses and wanting to maintain those "flattering" curves, thus not having any pockets. Not exactly the same for guys is it... Use your pockets TBG, sorry buddy, but I have yet to see any look worn by yourself that didnt make me think "Ohhh boy" or feel a little embarrassed for you... A polo neck, tightly tucked in? Naaaa, Pony tail? Naaaaa, Sweat band? Naaaa, all of that would be bad enough on a youngster, but to then see it on a more mature guy, is a huge Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I'm not saying you should have anything to conform to, you do your thing and be happy, but I would say in my own mind "There a guy that will be single for a long long time" and if a smile in a supermarket is the highlight, then thats a bit sad... Look at David/Cathy @ Canada, he wears the same style boots, but very differently, as does kneehighs do things very differently to most others. All too often guys focus only on the boots (Highly evident when you often see nice new boots in a shithole house that hasnt been cleaned for years) lol... I guess its about priorities, where guys will focus so much on the footwear, everything else goes out the window, including dress sense, relationships, marraiges, the house, so long as they have those high heel footwear... You get the idea. Anyway, thats just my own honest opinion, something i've had for many years now, but often thought "Just keep it to yourself" but hey, what good has that done so far... You could look a million times better with some really simple "adjustments" shall we say.. I think we should have a new coloumn here called "Tech's Tantrums" for good old fashioned feedback, no holding back, no puches pulled, only the sturdy need enter the ring... lol Heels for Men // Legwear Fashion // HHPlace Guidelines If something doesn't look right, please report the content ASAP!
Steve63130 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Tech, If you want my honest feedback, with all due respects, I wouldn't read your Tantrums column. LOL It's been clearly demonstrated in the present thread that everyone has different tastes. There is no such thing as right or wrong when it comes to fashion. It's not majority rule. And sorry, Tech, it's not Tech rule either. It's "do your own thing." I really think TBG is right when he says look into the mirror and if you like the look, go out in public. And most importantly, tolerate the appearance that others have chosen for themselves. Jeff, just to side with TBG, I liked the handbag, too. I always carry a medium size one at my waist, with a wide shoulder strap. I hate bulges in my pants pockets from carrying around a lot of junk, and a handbag not only holds more, it keeps it organized. So don't lose the handbag. I like the look, and you know how utilitarian it is. Steve

LOL Me neither, it was a joke :-) It's been clearly demonstrated in the present thread that everyone has different tastes. There is no such thing as right or wrong when it comes to fashion. Indeed, I havent said otherwise... It's not majority rule. And sorry, Tech, it's not Tech rule either. It's "do your own thing." I really think TBG is right when he says look into the mirror and if you like the look, go out in public. And most importantly, tolerate the appearance that others have chosen for themselves. Once again, absolutely, nobody said it was majority rule, or anybody rule for that. Steve If thats the case, where its purely because you hate carrying crap around in pockets, then why specifically does it HAVE to be a handbag? Why that addition of more femme items? Why not any other bag over a handbag? Heels for Men // Legwear Fashion // HHPlace Guidelines If something doesn't look right, please report the content ASAP!

No offence but (Here we go again lol) a big strapping lad like you looks odd with some dainty fem bag. The accessories dont match your build. Why? When I go on my little adventures, here's what I carry: --wallet (often bulky with cash and cards) --car keys --house keys (complete with a clip-on flash drive for my laptop) --umbrella (never go anywhere without it) --reading glasses (for time spent in bookstores) --loose change (never know when it'll come in handy) --iPod (if I feel like listening to music) Just a bit too much to be stuffing into my pockets, and most women's jeans have next to nothing in the way of pockets anyway. For whatever it's worth, I don't think I look odd with a bag at all, but hey, that's just my opinion. My, my! I'm amazed at how much mileage the simple subject of a handbag has gotten here. Maybe I worded that badly, it wasnt so much the fact that you have "a bag", more about the fact that you choose a "Dainty feminine bag"... It's like you created the problem first, by wearing womens jeans, then fixed it with a womens handbag??? I still dont understand why guys wear womens jeans at all, they totally dont fit properly, are not cut with the required equipment space at all, pockets are pretty much un-usable, so why bother at all? I also dont get why you choose a handbag of all things? Loads of pukka bags out there, and you choose a dainty femme handbag? I'm not having a crack at you, I just dont get it, it looks really odd.... Heels for Men // Legwear Fashion // HHPlace Guidelines If something doesn't look right, please report the content ASAP!
Bubba136 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Originally, Blue Jeans were work overalls and made for tough wear and tear that comes from working in shops, gardens, mines and on farms. That they've become a fashion statement is, according to what my mother told me about them when I was a small boy, was that they were really popular in the 1960s and during the Hippy years in the Viet Nam war era. Once, at a party in Norway, where all of the Norwegian people were wearing their traditional dress, I was told that it was too bad that people in the USA didn't have a traditional costume that they could war during their "national days." My reply was, ah but we do. Our national costume has been adopted by every country on the face of this planet......and my questioner wonderingly asked: "Oh really? And, what would that be? I just said: Blue Jeans -- Levi blue jeans made during the California Gold Rush in 1849..... to which, he just smiled...... I also dont get why you choose a handbag of all things?... Greetings Tech :-) Womens' jeans You don't understand why guys are wearing women's jeans... I admit that most women's jeans are not cut with the required "equipment space". (If you did try women's jeans, maybe you only tried jeans which are too tight or skinny ?) This is not true for all women's jeans. Some do fit well. You only need to find the right pair for you. A good example would be the Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans. As stated by JeffB and myself, they are a perfect fit and their pockets are usable. (And before you ask: They are not girly looking at all.) Women's jeans that fit well are way more comfortable than any guy's jeans I ever tried or own. I tried zillions of guy jeans before finding out women's jeans fits (me) better and are more comfortable. And most women's jeans are also stretch. This helps a lot for the extra comfort. Shoulder bag I could not agree more with JeffB statement. A shoulder bag is very usefull to carry all your stuff. (A note to JeffB: I carry exactly the same stuff in my bag as you do except the glasses...) I used to carry a wallet in my back pocket and stuff in my jacket. This is not comfortable at all (When you sit in your car for example) So I decided to buy a men's shoulder bag (See picture of it below) I must say I could not live without that bag anymore. It is so useful. All your stuff is well organized and easy to find. Also very comfortable to wear. Nothing in your pocket and your hands are free !

danielp6406 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I really like the man's shoulder bag. Who makes it and where did you get it? I got it from BENTLEY. I don't see any brand name on it. I guess it could be their own brand name. Perhaps we could discuss shoulder bags and other accessories in the general fashion section? Lets get back to Jeffb's jaunts. thanks Sorry if I was off topic for a while but it was hard not to comment about the bag and jeans... You may want to move the off topic posts to the general fashion section ?
JohnH Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I can't understand that while you all wear women's shoes - i.e., heels - there should be such a fuss of carrying a purse or bag and women's jeans. The heels alter the way one walks - who cares about the little things above? If I am going to wear heels I will wear a skirt or a dress.
Bubba136 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Perhaps it's not so much the fact that JeffB carries a shoulder bag but rather the style? But, if a guy is going to wear a skirt, dress or appear in public dressed in female attire, people are going to notice the hand bag the least. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
