Popular Post Selina Posted November 30, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 30, 2020 Hi all , hope you're doing well Recently our office implemented a standing desk policy, and all desks were changed to standing ones. As an avid high heels wearer, this was a detrimental change, but I decided to protest even with the expense of my foot health :D. I decided to wear ballet heels to work, both as a challenge to myself and also as a protest against the policy which the office manager clearly had aimed against me (she is very masculine herself). It was interesting to say the least I chose my trusty locking knee length boots, which have a very pronounced arch to support long term standing (similar to these). As my husband was locking them before I left for work, I was a little terrified about what it would be like. I had worn ballets outside many times, but never alone and never to work. I knew that I would spend much of the day standing, so I had carefully padded the toes before putting them on. Then I (my hubby) tightened the laces as tight as possible, since they would loosen during the day, and it would be hard for me to retighten them in my s-bend corset that I had chosen for the day, to make my figure sufficient for my custom-made blazer with a 18-inch waistline. I also wore some stockings under the boots, but decided not to wear hobble skirt, since the ballets were difficult enough on their own. Instead, I opted for a simple pleated skirt going mid-thigh. When I sat down in the train, I realised my first mistake. Because of the ballet heels, my knees were above my crotch, which made the eyes of the opposing (male) passenger very fixated between my legs. I quickly realised my mistake, and turned my legs to the side (like a proper lady). The ballet boots gathered quite a lot of looks, but luckily I didn't get any comments about them. The walk from the train station to my office went as uneventfully as the previous one. I walked as fast as my corset-limited breathing capacity and the shoes allowed, but the walk still took ten minutes more than usual. Once at the office, I went to my desk and adjusted the height about 4 cm upwards to compensate the difference between my normal heel height. "Okay", I thought. "The grind has begun." The first couple hours went really well considering the circumstances, and one of my female coworkers (a heels enthusiast too) even complemented my shoe choice, and hoped me well. For a long time I could ignore the ever-increasing burn by concentrating intensely on my tasks, but around lunch time the pain had gotten to the point where I couldn't ignore it anymore. Relief came in the break room, where someone had generously left one chair that was luckily unused. My lunch break is short – only fifteen minutes – which meant that after my time was up I had to get back to my desk. After about an hour the pain was again quite bad, and I decided to use one of the many tricks I have learned over the years on how to alleviate discomfort caused by one's outfit. I went to the bathroom, and tightened my corset by an inch, leaving it at 17". I also made the shoulder straps go as tight as I could, which pushed my breasts forward even more. This left me a little light-headed, and made wearing the corset be an agony. However, it also changed the main source of discomfort making me "forget" about my shoes and able to bear the remaining hours. Of course, this relief was very temporary in its nature, and once the time came to leave for home, the discomfort was horrible. Luckily I was used to dealing with these kinds of ordeals, as BDSM play had thickened my skin quite a lot. The walk to the train station eased the pain somewhat, but I was still very glad to get home, and get my hubby (love ya hun❤️) to unlock my shoes. (the corset was left on, even tightened a little) I assure you, rest of the evening was spent cuddling on the sofa, while he massaged and stretched my feet thoroughly. A well-deserved reward after a long day, although it still would have helped if my corset had been a little looser ;=) As an experience, it was definitely quite fun, but I still wouldn't wear ballet heels and a little-too-short skirt on public again S 11 3
Cali Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Many of us read it in the Women's forum, but we have been burned by posting over there. You were brave to go to work that way. A long day in ballets does not sound like fun. (I noticed you only did it once.) Is a corset a normal part of your attire or added only for that day? For me its like wearing my Victoria's Secret stilettos all day. They are fine for 3-4 hours, but at hour 10 they aren't so much fun.
RonC Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Wow, that is quite a story. Personally, I don't understand why one would put themselves through something like that. You obviously have a higher tolerance for pain than most! It was cool to thumb your nose at your boss, however!
StockingTop Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Do you think the office manager noticed your protest?

spikesmike Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Selina : Thank you for letting us live vicariously through your adventure in ballet high heels. I have two (2) pair of ballets. I can stand in them but I can not walk in them . As for no one commenting in the women's section, Cali nailed it. Also, Fewer women ( of late ) since Panteras death we hear very little to nothing from the farer sex. Thank you for your story. Please send more. spikesmike 2
CHRISPAP Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Congratulations to you for this exploit. Did your manager understand your protest, did she make a feed back?
balletboot Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I would have loved to see that! I also envy anyone who can wear heels of any kind and dress up for work. I'm a delivery driver so there is no way I could wear heels to work :/ congratulations on such a challenge!
Chorlini Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I don't want to be the party pooper, so sorry Selina, no offense intended, but her story does kinda feel like something that gets posted at BDSM fanfic sites. I've read that kind of story so often it makes me go is this for real? 3
Pierre1961 Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Agreed. To much a cliché. But fun to read.

wambound37 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 I for one love reading about your experiences Selina! Thanks for sharing
KatieS Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 I am locked in ballet and corset most days for work by my husband. If you do it enough you will get used to it. I spend a lot of time over a drafting table and my computer is drafting table height. So a lot of time I stand. I normally wear a long skirt or long jeans so the ballet boot and the locks are not noticeable. 5
Shyheels Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 You can actually spend a day working in ballet boots?

You get used to it after a while and if you get a high quality pair that are not as bad as you would think when you get used to them. As I said, I normally wear long jeans or a long skirt so they are not as noticeable

I cycle a lot and have fit legs but find that wearing five inch stiletto knee boots for an hour to be just about the best calf muscle workout I’ve ever had!

And I cycle thousands of miles a year. I’m going to start incorporating heels into my workout - best hill training I’ve come across! You must have calves like a Sherpa. How long did it take to be able to spend a day in such steep heels? Edited March 28, 2021 by Shyheels

Chorlini Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 I'm still of the old classic internet opinion, pics or it didn't happen!

Pre-pandemic I would wear my Jessica Simpson knee high stilettos for 14 hours straight. It's a function of how many thousand of miles you have logged in high heels.

I seriously would have thought all my cycling would have made calves not an issue. My feet and ankles are strong and flexible enough, but the calf muscles really felt it. I don't wear lockable heels, but when you put your heels on at 7 am, leave for work, and don't get back until 9 or 10 pm, it's about the same as lockable. Easily. I wear heels almost all the time, even around the house. I change into my wedges after taking off my ski boots. Well over 2000 days with at least 1 mile per day (on my feet for 6 + hours walking back and forth). Some days Its 4-5 miles, so I'm confident its in the 1000's. 1

As in, purposefully walked and recorded the distance. I don't wear heels to work like Cali, but pretty much everywhere else. I have no idea of the "incidental" distance I may have traveled over the years, but it has to be substantial. I find that the incidental walking largely does not help the endurance much, such as the problems with your calves. I encourage you to actually walk in your 5 inch heels regularly. I just about guarantee your calves will straighten up and fly right pretty quickly, specially with an athletic fellow like you.

I seriously think it would be a good training aid for cycling - like doing hill workouts at home... Who'd have thunk?
