Thigh Boots in Public

I took Monday afternoon off from work to attend a retirement benefits meeting wearing jeans and a black T-shirt. Two things of interest at the meeting; I didn’t wear my boots, and I can’t afford to retire.

After the meeting, I pulled on a pair of pull on black leather thigh boots with 4” stiletto heels and headed for my cobbler’s shop to pick up my 5” heeled boots that were in for heel tips. This time I parked right outside the shop. When I went in the cobbler yelled out from the back, “I’m working on your boots now, they will be ready in 5 minutes.” When he came out, we chatted a bit about the “art fair” that was going on Saturday when I had dropped my boots off, then I paid my bill and headed back to my car.

I changed the T-Shirt for the black crêpe blouse with trumpet sleeve cuffs and headed for Wall-Mart. I parked a nice walk from the entrance (busy store) and headed in. I picked up the stuff I was after then headed for the shoe department. On the way I passed a mother and young son and the kid says,”He’s wearing girls boots!”.

To which his Mom replied, “He can wear anything he wants.”

I did not go back and add to the conversation, figuring it was best to leave well enough alone.

After I walked back to my car, I headed for Shoe Carnival, and Barnes and Noble. I wandered around in both stores for a while. The manager in Shoe Carnival seemed a little less than thrilled about having me in the store but he got over it when I left.

The last stop was a Sam’s I sometimes frequent but not the same as my last post’s. I wandered around and got my stuff and headed for the register. After the gal rang up my sale, I noticed she had glanced at my boots a couple of times. Being a slow learner I said, “There fun.” This time I got a big smile in return.

I don’t think she was puzzled at all. She was just being rude.

Thanks for the kind words.

Thigh Boots, I appreciate your sense of freedom. This is going to sound really weird but, I'm not sure that if you were wearing short shorts, a bra, and a blouse, that I'd be all that comfortable around you myself. I'm comfortable around transvestites to a certain degree as I got to know a few guys about 20 years ago in downtown Lexington. I'd be proud to be seen out with you wearing your boots. I'd wear some too, of course. I'm good with the idea of what your wear. But I have a stupid question for you: Do you associate the same feeling of excitement of wearing other female clothing as of wearing boots? If you decide not to answer, I'm ok with that too. I don't want to put anyone on the spot, I'm just curious. For me, I love the look and feel of heels. I think they're sexy as hell - for women and for men. I also think there's a lot of really hot sexy clothing for guys that can make me feel sexy -- from thongs and low-low cut tight jeans, to beautifully woven barely-there silk shirts. And, as much as I love wearing heels, my other male wardrobe pieces help to even out a very sexy masculine look -- albeit if only in "my own" mind. A little help would be appreciated, if you don't mind. William BTW, I used to live in Cincy a few years back. I know that whole No. KY/ So. Ohio area pretty well. I loved Eden Park!!!

TBG:-) That Mother made the right remark to her son and you did the right thing by letting it go by. I would have done the same. Sometimes it is best to leave sleeping dogs lye. Congrats on how you handled the situation. Cheers--- Dawn HH

The shorts were not short shorts, rather the hem of the shorts came to about the top of my boots. However, in retrospect, I think I agree with you. (I'm not sure that ... I'd be all that comfortable around you myself) The bra and boobs was a spur of the moment thing. The overall look wasn’t bad but I think I did push things a bit to far considering the look I want is of a guy in thigh boots. I wasn’t uncomfortable with the outfit but it was a bit much, but not enough to merit the Halloween costume remark.

Eden park is a great space. I often visit the Art Museum and have started going to the Khron Conservatory wearing thigh boots. I have even taken a stroll around the reflecting pond.

“Do you associate the same feeling of excitement of wearing other female clothing as of wearing boots?”

Well probably, but not the kind of excitement most folks think it would be. First I enjoy the look, but the excitement part comes from confidently making a presentation that is very different, and somewhat unique, that flys in the face of what is expected. It is an attention getting device that I enjoy using. Thigh boots with heels attract attention and the excitement is in controlling it. When I come back from an outing, I’m exhausted because I have been in a very alert state for the whole time. I have been wearing thigh boots for so long that they really are just another pair of shoes. Years ago it was a sexual turn on but not any longer. :winkiss:

:nervous:

Getting there, getting there! I'm looking to retire but hopefully, it might be sooner than later!

That is the best answer that anyone can give or get! Thanks for sharing.

Thigh Boots -- Thanks for your response. I appreciate your thoughtfulness on the issues. I'm sure I have some barriers as to how I view other people, so I really am curious about what drives some to do what they do. It's funny how one guy can do something feminine in guy-mode and think "this is a hot sexy cool manly look" and someone else can think, "that guy's a weirdo". For myself, I wonder if coming into my own sexual awareness during glam-rock and disco expanded my horizons more than in previous generations. While I don't think a dress or a bra is a cool manly look, I do love the look of tight fitting leather clothing, platform boots, big sexy hair and eyeliner. I'm either very cool, or very weird -- or both. :winkiss:

I went Findlay Market in Cincinnati wearing a gray T-shirt, tight jeans and black leather thigh boots with 5” stilettos. Findlay market is an old market that has recently been remodeled (and ruined). The main part of the market is in a long building with vendor stalls (butchers, cheese shops, bakery goods,...on both sides of an isle that runs the length of the building. Around the outside of the building are street vendors in outdoor stalls. Anyway, there are always a lot of people at the market.

I parked about a block away and walked to the market and headed in. I was there for about 30 minutes as I walked the length of the inside twice then around the outside. I bought some stuff for supper and had a good time. I thought I heard , “those boots” from somewhere in the din but that was it. No one said a word or even batted an eye. Inside, the place was crowded and most people didn’t look down but outside there was lots of room and I stood around for a while. No responce at all.

I have wanted to try that market for some time but I tend to be a bit cautious about where I go. I finally figured the worst that would happen was peals of childish laughter and I figured I could handle that so I headed on in.

I’m going to be going back because I had a blast.

There is a market similar to the one you described where I live. Once again, my friend, you have inspired me and given me a new place to visit wearing high heels. Thank you so much for sharing your story and I will let you know how my experience turns out.

I’ve had a wonderful weekend! It started with a vitamin B-12 pill (note age <--) which did wonders, but continued with a shopping trip and a concert.

The shopping trip was to Sam’s. I was wearing a black unlined blazer, tight jeans and black leather thigh boots with 5” stilettos. I was wandering around gathering my stuff and I heard a muffled comment like, “My God, look at that guy”. A little later an young girl said to her mother, “He’s wearing women’s boots”. I didn’t hear her mother replied but the little girl kept staring at me so I gave her a nice smile and kept going. Two minutes later, she was still watching me as I shopped. I decided to leave well enough alone and kept to myself and continued shopping.

There was a long line at the register and one of the managers came by and recorded my items with a hand scanner so I wouldn’t have to wait for the register clerk to scan them. She didn’t seem at all concerned about helping a guy in boots.

The chin dropper came when I was leaving the store. The girl working the exit was young and spritely and I didn’t recognize her. You can imagine my surprise when she greeted me and asked me, “So where’s the skirt?”

I recovered from my surprise and said, “I kind of like them with jeans.”

“So do I, they look better with jeans.”

We bid each other a good day and I went out and loaded my stuff into my car.

The concert put on by The Greater Cincinnati Performing Arts Society and featured the California Guitar Trio (

). It was attended mostly by adults (avg.age of the crowd 45) and I felt right at home. I wore a long sleeved white shirt, black blazer, tight jeans, and black leather thigh boots with 5” stilettos. The concert was held in a very nice high school auditorium. I pulled into the school ground about 30 minutes before the start time and thought, do you really want to do this wearing boots, and decided that I really wanted to so I walked from the parking lot, across the school grounds to the entrance. This was not lever terrain and when I got into the lobby, I was on a terrazzo floor. I didn’t have too much problem navigating all this but there were a few steps that were errant.

The lobby was full of people because they hadn’t yet opened the auditorium. I took a deep breath and walked in and over to the will call table for my ticket. There were a couple of glances but no one seemed concerned which buoyed my confidence because I really had no idea what to expect. With ticked in hand, I joined the queue for the auditorium door and wound up standing there, as the crowed grew, for about 10 minutes.

When the doors opened, the queue started to move forward and I was reminded how slick the floor was by a keel kickout. The auditorium was carpeted but the isle was angled downward at a steep enough grade to be interesting. I walked all the way to the front and got a seat on the isle in the fourth row (great seat). The concert didn’t start for another 20 minutes so I chatted with the couple in the seats next to me about the concert. Not one mention of my boots. We had to get up several times to allow the folks in the center seats to get out and back in. I discovered that standing quickly in a confined space while wearing 5” heels can be fraught with error.

In the intermission, I walked down to the edge of the stage to see the equipment the players were using. A couple of guys, who were also checking out the equipment, checked out my boots but seemed more curious than concerned.

After the concert I headed out to the lobby and purchased a CD and waited around for the artists to sign it. There were lots of folks in the lobby and I was there for about 20 minutes. I ran into the couple I was sitting with and we chatted some more. Everyone, including the artists, seemed to accept an ecclecticly-attired patron as normal but most of them were guitar players so that may have accounted for it.

I headed back to my car with a little less trouble than I had going in and discovered that the couple I had been sitting with were parked next to my car. We waved and bid each other a good evening.

I headed home at 11:20. I had been at the concert for four hours and fad a fantastic time. There are a couple more concerts in this series of which I will be taking advantage.

I ventured over to Findlay market again wearing tight jeans and black leather thigh boots with 5” stilettos. This trip was much the same as the last one in that no one seemed to care what I had on my feet. This time I did have to stand in line for about 10 minutes at one of the counters, which gave everyone a good chance to see what I was wearing. I did get two enthusiastic comments to the effect of “like those boots!” I thanked the commenters. I walked around a bit outside and over to the local growers market and found some more stuff to buy. I got another “love your boots” while I was over there. This place is eclectic enough that I feel very comfortable being there. I really am glad I tried this place out as a boot venue. :winkiss:

I had a similar outing on Thursday. I will give the rundown later today or tomorrow. It was a pleasent and positive outing and also I too noticed that the majority of people are either positive or just simply no reaction. Maybe people are so concerned with the economy, the upcoming election, and such, that seeing a man wearing high heels is simply no big deal.

I went over to Findlay Market again today. I wore a black velour turtleneck, tight jeans, black leather thigh boots with 5” stilettos, and a black leather jacket. That right I finally got one! I am now able to pull off the JeffB look! I still don’t have enough hair for my favorite look.

Without tooting my own horn too loudly, this outfit looked really good. I caught my reflection in several windows and couldn’t believe it was me. I’ll offer special thanks to JeffB and Kneehighs for pushing me into realizing there was a difference in going out and going out looking good.

After parking about a block away from the market, I walked around the outside first, rather than going into the crowd in the market. There were lots of people shopping at the outside stands and I got a few glances. When I got to the stand I was heading for a lady in front of me enthusiastically complemented me on my boots. She asked several questions about them and how they fit. We had a nice chat about tall boots.

I then headed into the marker and got a number at the butcher stand. I was standing around waiting for my number to be called when I heard, “Ooo, I like those boots!” This started another conversation about wearing tall boots. About ten minutes later they called my number and the gal at the butcher stand was exceptionally bright and chatty. I’m sure she had seen what I was wearing when I was standing back waiting and I guess she approved as she hadn’t been that bright with any of the other customers.

I walked back to my car and deposited my purchases then decided to go back and get something else. Needless to say, I was enjoying myself walking around. On the way back to my car another lady (older black) called out to me, ”Take - those - boots - off... Take - them - off”. I took it as a complement especially after she came over to me and felt the top of one of them.

I was flying pretty high so I decided to push a little further and stopped in downtown Cincinnati. I parked and walked two blocks to a Payless and wandered in look around. After a minute the manager walked by and welcomed me to the store and then said, “N I C E!”

I thanked her and went on looking around. I didn’t try anything on but enjoyed looking. I walked back to my car and headed home.

I have wanted a black leather jacket for a long time and finally found one. JeffB, in another thread, offered that thigh boots gave him a feeling of empowerment. That is what the black leather jacket did for me. I absolutely love the look and the feeling I get when I think I look good.

Thighbootguy, sounds like your best outing in boots to date. A simple black leather jacket does balance out the boots and gives a nice overall look. My style is similar to yours and JeffB, with my current pair of boots. Congratulations on a great day!

This weekend I was transferring some reel to reel tapes (<-check age) to CDs and I came across one track that really struck home and I wanted to share it with this group. The tape was the Aladdin album by the Rotary Connection, and the track was “Let them Talk”.

I was trying to come up with a method of sharing this track, and I couldn’t find a track on the web so I decided to create a video and use it as a soundtrack.

The video showcases my new black leather jacket and a look I’m delighted with but the real reason for making it is the soundtrack.

Thighbootguy Black Leather Jacket

For the newbies and all the other guys that are concerned about heeling in public, LISTEN TO THE SOUNDTRACK on the video.

It turns out we are doing the 60s all over again.

Reel-to-Reel tape - - - now that's the way tape should be!

Yeah, I remember reels -- still have a few in fact, and a tape deck capable of playing them.

Always loved 'em.

Have a happy time!

Well, if you're going to copy, it's always a good idea to copy from the very best! HA! I've always been of the opinion that looking good is the key to being a successful male heeler. Meanwhile, it sounds like your outfit earned you lots of compliments and conversation from those around you during your outing. See? That's what looking good will do for you!

I'm surprised you didn't have a leather jacket until now. As you learned, matching it with your thigh boots made for a killer combination. Judging from what I read, I suspect you'll be taking that outfit out again real soon! HA!

Copied, audio addicted here.

Was, and still is, the best analog recorded sound you can obtain. A good reel-to-reel tape is better than a long play vinyl. Unfortunatelly tapes are prone to aging and I threw my collection away. I still have my LP collection and a good turntable to play them. The problem is to find styllus, so I have a 4 piece stock that should last for about 15 years.

Thanks Thighbootguy for the amazing video. It's one of the best looks you've show here, congratulations!

I wish i could go to a market in the uk and get the same reaction as you did, has anyone tried here ? People can be very small minded and cruel when they see something that they dont understand.

Thanks all for the kind words but... Folks, you have missed the main point of my last post. Yeah reel to reel is cool, and the leather jacket looks good with the thigh boots, but what did you think of the music for the video? When I heard that song again, for the first time in many years, I thought this is exactly what the experienced heelers have been telling the new folks. I would be interested to have a few other opinions.

Agreed. It's a deep song and deep songs always try to show us different ways of thinking and openning the mind.

I never heard that before since I'm... just 32 and it's way back in time. But it was good to hear it with your walking in the park in that outfit.

I'm this way: good songs should match good images, even if the images are just your imagination. A well made video clip is a lot better.

I have had a bunch of shopping trips wearing my black leather thigh boots with 5” stilettos, all of which are completely uneventful.

I tried something a little different from jeans. I wore a pair of tan leather suede slacks with a tan suede jacket. I thought they went well with my boots and provided enough color and shading contrast that the boots were more noticeable.

I had to spend an hour at Sam’s waiting for a punctured tire to be repaired, so I took my time wandering all over the store. The guys in the tire shop didn’t even bat an eye.

I’m planning on going to a concert tonight wearing jeans and my thighboots. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I’s still like to hear some more feedback on the soundtrack of the video: Thighbootguy Black Leather Jacket
