I think maybe we've had this conversation before, because I often wish I could wear heels more often, but do I really wish I could wear them at work? Yeah, for some of it. I would rather enjoy walking the quarter-mile long buildings when I'm in supervisor mode. However, when it comes to doing any actual work like lifting something heavy, carrying something heavy, walking on rocks and/or mud, and many other things---nah, not really. For one thing, I don't want to mess up my good shoes. If I had a job like one of these server techs where I was guaranteed to never have to run outside real quick and take care of something, sure I'd try to push the envelope and wear heels at work. As it is, I'll just let it remain a fantasy. Because, like the song says, sometimes a fantasy is all you need.

Much of my assignment work is in remote or rough locations where wearing any sort of delicate heel would be foolish - I do have, however, chunky mid-heeled and low-heeled knee boots which work nicely.

I one of the "lucky" ones who wears heels to work all the time. But I wear heels almost everywhere all the time.  I avoid gravel especially in stilettos.

Well it wasn't work, but the wife and I spent last weekend at a local casino.  I wore heels the entire two days, was fun and got a few compliments.  sf

I’m self employed so it’s much easier sometimes to work nights with no one around, but tonight I’m tidying up the workshop in these  😬

Yes, I'm a freelance and so when I am not out on assignment, but writing or editing photos from my kitchen table, I can wear what I please and very often wear heels to work. Given the skyricketing costs of heating, my OTK boots are going to be very much appreciated this winter!!!

SF, Don’t know which casino you visited but last January my wife and I met our friends from Yuma at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio for bingo. They love it and we gave it a whirl. They drove back to Yuma but we stayed the night then explored Palm Springs and later Joshua Tree National Park. It was a nice getaway. HinH

I have actually got my eye on a pair, on the strength of your previous post. The only problem is that they are 9 1/2, and I usually take a 9. However, everything else this lady is selling is a 9. Do they possibly run a little small? Have not yet found a pair in a 9.

If they are newish then I'd say go for it. They do run a tad small, but mine have stretched a bit.

I say that I can't wear high heels to work, but I guess I forgot about my side gig, selling egg rolls at farmer's markets. I didn't used to consider it "work," as I was just helping the wife out a little bit, but now it's become more of a big deal, and I'm an essential part of it. We even bought a cargo van recently specifically for the business.

I haven't worn true flats yet this year to a market. My "backup" shoes are 2 inches, and I've only had to wear those once when the sole fell off my higher heels. These BCBGeneration thong type wedges actually work well on grass, too.

The trouble is that those stilettoes would sink into the ground at construction sites and gravel would be hideous.

I could never wear heels on any of my assignments - deserts, jungles, Antarctica, heels just wouldn’t work. Happily though I can wear anything I like in my home office and since travel has really died off post-Covid, that means pretty much every day

Working from home has totally changed my boot wearing. Happily I can now do this most days in comfort and my walking in heels has dramatically improved…..practice makes perfect!

I miss in-person.  I tend to wear my heels all day when out. But at home I might walk around barefoot half the time. Wearing stilettos around the house is alright, wearing stilettos to work is divine.

In my case it was the flying and the general hassles of international travel that makes me glad to work almost exclusively from home. If I had an office with colleagues I might feel different
