Jeff, how could I not read some of your posts? You are the style master and the outing king! I always learn a lot and get great ideas from you. It is really exciting to see you expand your style and keep your look growing. One of the things that I know you understand more than most is that you can never be truly satisfied with your style. It is an evolutionary process and you are evolving quite well! You are and will continue to be an inspiration.

Jeff, I haven't visited your thread in a while, and have to say wow. Every time I come back to this thread, I am still impressed at how you have continued to define freestyling fashion and as always have kept it looking cool. ... and HappyFeat, its really great to see you around again, hope to see more posts from you.

Many thanks for the kind words! Well, I don't know about being a style master, I simply do the very best I can, and things seem to be working okay so far, and, more importantly, I'm enjoying myself. By the by, I get ideas from you and the outfits you sport, so we help each other. Yes, I agree that one can never be satisfied when it comes to style, that's how stagnation comes about, and I'm trying not to let that happen to me. I've begun experimenting ever so slowly with more feminine looking tops, more jewelry, and I'm eager to integrate dresses more into my jaunting. Heels are simply part of the overall equation these days, not the be all and end all, as evidenced by my wearing flats more frequently of late. I'll do my very best to continue inspiring you and everyone else here.

Thanks a lot, hhboots, much obliged! I'm glad that you continue to like what I've been doing. Freestyling has become very important to me, and I want to continue pushing the envelope with my fashion as much as I can.

Unlike last Saturday which was godawful hot and humid, today wasn't nearly as bad, so I hit the road on a new adventure, and I decided to go as casual as I could, wearing a Basic Editions lace trimmed tank top in black from K-Mart, a 15 inch I Heart Ronson denim skirt from JCPenney, the Payless "Cori" wedge flats and my favorite black handbag. This would be something of an experiment as this would be a longer outing in a tank top, something I rarely wear, but I wanted to branch out form polo shirts and campshirts and thought this would make for a nice change of pace. As for the skirt, even though it's rather short, because I'm wearing it under the tank without a belt, letting it sit at my natural waist, it looks longer than it really is. Along with the flat shoes, I thought it made for a typically casual outfit a girl or woman might wear on a lazy, late July Saturday. And, yes, I felt perfectly casual and at ease in this outfit as well.

However, I will admit to being a tad self-conscious at first as I headed out, not about the skirt, I've been wearing minis regularly for some time now (I'm finding it difficult to wear anything longer than 17 inches, must be because of the summer heat) and have no trouble showing off my legs, rather, it was the concept of showing off my arms and upper torso in the tank. I wasn't bothered by the lace trim, in fact, that was what led me to buy it in the first place, but being so used to wearing shirts with sleeves, going without was something of a shock, however, I slowly came to adapt. My first stop of the day was to my local comic book shop downtown, as usual, finding a parking spot was a chore, and it took some twenty minutes to do so, a whole block away. Irksome. No matter, it allowed me to enjoy a bit of a walk, and to be seen, I was seen my motorists and passersby, but no one made a scene over how I was dressed. I spent a good twenty minutes in the shop, today I yakked with the staff about The Wolverine which I had seen on Friday and liked a lot.

From there, it was off to the greater northeast and Parx Casino as I had another $75 worth of free slot play to use before the end of the month. Entering the casino, I was reminded of the perils of having one's arms uncovered in an air conditioned space as I was positively chilled when I entered. BBRRRRR! After having lunch, I went about spending my slot dollars, I hardly broke the bank (only playing one penny machines), but I did manage to leave the place after close to an hour with a smidgen over one hundred bucks from the new Wizard of Oz machine. Not too bad, I can use that for grocery shopping on Sunday. Back in the car, I roamed over the Ben Franklin Bridge and into South Jersey where my last stop of the day was at Barnes & Noble. After parking, I was on my way to the store when three young black females drove by, pointed at me and laughed out loud. Tsk! How rude, but I just ignored them. I would spend little over half an hour in the store, happily roaming the magazine and video aisles before leaving with a couple of manga titles.

The casual approach I effected came off quite nicely I thought, with the exception of those three young boors, I was able to go out and about without raising a stir. Heaven knows I've seen women dress lots more provocatively, especially when it came to wearing short shorts that leave absolutely NOTHING to the imagination, I also saw a few, how shall I say it....plumpish women wearing tight shorts and tight tops and displaying the dreaded muffin top. URGH! And that's why I go out of my way to look the very best I can on my outings, no way would I consciously choose to embarrass myself while in public.

Nice coordinated look JeffB. I"m glad you enjoyed yourself out and about on Saturday. As far as those three young females, too bad for them, that they have that attitude. You handled yourself with a lot of self confidence that us experienced heelers have come to have. Today, as I was checking out of a supermarket, the young black female cashier about 20, who was waiting on me, jaw almost dropped as she handed me my change and looked at my 4" wedge heel slides I was wearing, which shows off my red pedi very much. I wasn't wearing a skirt but had a pair of khaki capris and a black polo shirt. She smiled at me and said, "I like your style". I thanked her for the compliment she paid me. That was a real nice jesture on her part. It helped make my day! So not all young women act like the three you encountered. Happy Heeling, bluejay

Nice outift and a good outing Jeff. I like the tank a lot, but they can be chilly in the AC. Fun, eventful outing as well!

Thanks for the kind words. Wearing that tank top made for an interesting experience once I overcame my brief and initial apprehension. I'll certainly wear one again in the near future.

It's always nice when you get compliments on your attire as that validates your appearance and that all the effort you went through to look your best bore fruit. Good for you! As my my encounter, it was brief and already forgotten.

Oh, yes, I was taken aback at how chilly it was, given what I wore. Sill, it was plenty fun!

That's great Jeff, the top really blends well with the overall look. I really like the sleeveless or short-sleeved look but I've been very apprehensive about wearing anything like that because my arms are quite hairy and I don't think that looks nice. In the summer I usually wear a light long-sleeved shirt or blazer to cover my arms.

That just goes to show hiw any jaw-dropping initial responses aren't necessarily a bad reaction by any means.

If you like it, wear it.

Well, I've been fortunate to have been naturally hairless on my arms and legs, otherwise, I'd never be able to wear a tank, or a skirt, so I consider myself to be rather lucky. As sticky hot and humid as its been here over the last month plus, wearing long sleeves or a blazer would've been suicidal.

I'm quite hairy myself but don't let it bother me concerning my arms. My neckline on the other hand, is one of the reasons why I go for polos or button up shirts. I shave enough where I can have the top button undone at my collar but that's it other than my legs and face. Even when I wear business attire with skirts I tend to roll up my long sleeves, but my skin is pretty olive so my hair isn't overly contrasting.

JeffB, Did you get to wear your "heeled waders" on Sunday? I heard that Philly got about 8" of rain on Sunday. New records were set. Hope all is well with you and you didn't get flooded out. Happy Heeling, bluejay

Nope! Fortunately, we only had mild showers in my neighborhood while areas to the south got hammered. Besides, I was home all day on Sunday, staying nice and dry and watching baseball.

JeffB; The outfit looks great. Try it with hose. Yeah I know its warm, but hose are not uncomfortable in this weather, in fact that can have a cooling effect. I've been wearing hose with shorts for over a month now and we do have some warm days in Cincinnati (relative humidity often matches the temperature F). The flats look good with the skirt but boots look better (they don't have to be thigh boots either). I have a couple of pair of knee high boots that have a fabric top and I wear them on all but the hottest days. Keep on keeping on my friend.

I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.

It hasn't been hot here, it's been STUPID hot, complete with the sort of humidity that socks on the jaw and flattens you the minute you step outside. I've literally gone from dry as a bone to sweating like a stuck pig mere minutes after going outside. I can't remember the last time a summer has been THIS miserable. The notion of wearing hosiery has been a non-stater and will remain so until at least September, ditto for boots. Heck, by the time October rolls around, I suspect you won't be able to get me out of wearing boots and long skirts!

ADDENDUM: I haven't worn jeans on an outing since late April, and I don't miss them in the least as I've been having all kinds of fun wearing skirts. In fact, I can honestly say I can't think of one good reason to wear jeans at all, save perhaps with my thigh high boots. Like I said previously, come fall, I can make a smooth transition to long wool skirts and knee high boots (especially a nice pair of riding boots) once the weather turns cooler and keep on keeping on right on into winter and beyond. That could be fun.

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

Jaunt #196, 8/16/2013:

With the sun shining, the weather comfortable, and an errand to run, I thought this was a good time for a jaunt. And, just for fun, I thought I'd dress up a little (compared to my previous outings) as I wore a royal blue campshirt from K-Mart, a 20 inch black denim American Living pencil skirt from JCPenney, the Payless "Karma" pumps and my favorite black handbag. The skirt, which I wore in public for the first time today was deliciously snug on me and had a cute slit in the back, adding to it's overall attractiveness, as for the Karma pumps, it had been awhile since I last wore them and had forgotten how comfortable, not to mention delightfully loud the four inch heels were on the pavement, all in all, this made for quite a sharp outfit that I not only felt good wearing, if anything, I actually felt empowered, or as empowered as a 54-year old man in a tight skirt and heels could feel.

My first stop of the day was to the TD Bank branch in Springfield to cash in some coins, after I arrived, I hopped out with my bag of coins and confidently strode inside. Even though there were over a dozen customers in the bank, no one paid me any mind as I went about my business of depositing my coins, after geeting my receipt, I got in line and casually waited my turn to get my cash, which wound up being just under $77 bucks. Not bad at all. After leaving the bank, my next stop was to Subway down the road for lunch, I left my car, casually went inside and enjoyed a foot long Subway Club and a Coke, there were only a couple of people inside at the time, and they paid me no mind. My third and final stop of the day was Best Buy, there was a good crowd, and while I did get a couple of stares, it was no big deal as I spent a good half hour plus strolling about before going to the register with John Carpenter's The Fog on Blu-Ray.

As I said earlier, I felt empowered in my outfit, calm and comfortable too, and that made the experience a goodly amount of fun as well. Wearing a skirt and heels in public is great fun, it's my identity as a freestyler, and I intend to keep on having fun too!

Great look Jeff, one of the best so far. The "snug" skirt works very well. I'm really not surprised the outfit didn't attract more attention. It looks very "mainstream" (which is good if you want to blend in) even though a 54 year old guy is wearing it. $77 in change... I guess the handbag really came in handy. Sounds like you had an enjoyable outing. As you say, "keep on keeping on." TBG

TBG: Thanks for the compliments. Much appreciated. I strove to look as mainstream as possible, given the time of day and the place I happened to be, I wanted to look just like any woman making a brief stop at the bank to take care of business. That said, I plan to work in a dressier looking skirt for a similar outing in the future or perhaps a trip into downtown. If I'm going to wear a skirt and heels, then it behooves me to look as dressy and stylish as possible. As for all that change I lugged into the bank, yes, the handbag did come in very handy. If you're going to freestyle, kids, NEVER leave home without a purse! :silly: Addendum: Good news, everybody, I found my dress today for my upcoming 200th jaunt. I bought it at Sears, and it isn't fancy or flashy as I was looking for something I could wear anywhere and blend in, as best as possible of course. I'll need to accessorize my new acquisition, but that won't take long, I'm REALLY jazzed to soon be wearing a dress again and I'm sure it'll make for a fun experience!

Very nice look, JeffB. I like the royal blue color of your top. Great color combination. Makes your outfit pop. Glad to see your matching bag, with your shoes. I'm carrying a bag more and more these days, myself. Happy Heeling, bluejay

Well, you'll be happy to know that I've been window shopping online for a proper non-denim pencil skirt similar to the first picture, and yes, I have no doubt I can dress one up nicely with the right top (perhaps a silk or satin blouse) and a pair of stiletto pumps. As for the second picture, I'm not sure I could emulate that stunning jacket, but I think I could come up with something just as sharp. Going all in with wearing skirts has opened new vistas for me as a freestyler, and I'm eager to see where that road goes.

I wear a one piece body briefer which helps considerably when it comes to presenting a smooth frontal profile while keeping the babymaker from being prominent, heck, it even gives me quite a nice looking derriere which comes in handy when wearing tight skirts. Of course, the degree of success you might have with a briefer depends upon how well....endowed you are. You might have to experiment to find something that will work best for you.

Thanks for the advice.. I was looking at a pic of mine in a beige skirt and think I need to hide the salami... I dont want VPL so aside from a half slip I dont know what would help... aside from trying to squeeze into a size 6 (UK ... tummy control panties are quite pricey and the Mrs has only just gotten used to me in pencil skirts though she wants me to wear darker colored ones like black, gray, navy... (skirts btw not underwear....) I also wear kilts (hence the name) of the same kinda shades...

I will upload a pic of the beige one for your opinion... http://www.hhplace.org/uploads/gallery/album_319/gallery_15255_319_82636.jpg

Thanks, I ordered a tummy control slip, and some briefs, its one size smaller than my regular skirt size, and hope that goes toward making stuff less visible. Also that beige skirt's material is quite flimsy, its not as tight on my hips and thighs as I'd like so more likely for stuff to show. I just want to dress as a guy like JeffB, but keep it casual. The kilts need no explanation, I have a denim kilt I wear, and black denim pencil skirt along with a smarter black pencil skirt that I wear to work on dress down Fridays that I can team with a polo shirt and flats like our trend-setter JeffB... I am getting my colleagues used to me in the kilts before slipping in a regular skirt or two :) Still looking for a nice set of boots to complete the look, with some nice heels :)
