You have a very classy look. Have you ever gone out in really chunky platform boots. Just wondering, I think you would look good in platform boots. That is if you like them. I bet you could make platforms classy, I make them look like lady gaga.

Nahhhh! That never occurred to me. To be honest, I'm not sure I could make platforms look classy, and the LAST thing I want to do is become a Gaga wannabe! :P

HI Jeff, Summer is great for skirts.... you'll know what I mean and it has to be tried to be believed! That denim pencil skirt looks great on you. Its a casual meets demure sort of look... I think I might have to look for one. Well done! regards Heel-Lover

Yes, I quite agree that skirts are perfect for summer, I feel cool and comfortable when wearing them, and here in the northeast which gets plenty hot in the summer, that's a definite plus. And yeah, at the risk of sounding egotistical, I look darn good in a skirt. In fact, I'm mulling over the idea of putting away my jeans and wearing nothing but skirts and skorts on my adventures for the rest of the season. As for the skirt I wore on that last jaunt, I bought it at Old Navy several months ago.

I cannot think of anyone LESS egotistical than you, Jeff, at least as you present yourself on the forum. And yes, you do look good in a skirt. It's yet another good example of how the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

Many thanks for the kind words. I appreciate your compliments. I simply do as best I can.

I'm the egotistical one! Heels, tight. Clothes, big sunglasses, and a ton on attitude.

Well, good for you! Keep on doing what you do best!

6/9/2013: And now, back by semi-popular demand----THE SUNDAY JAUNTING DOUBLEHEADER!!

Morning (Jaunt #189): If it's Sunday, that means it's time for my weekly grocery run, but I decided to turn it into an early jaunt by going to the supermarket in a navy polo shirt, my 17 inch denim skort from J.C. Penney, the Payless "Cori" wedge flats and my new black crossbody handbag which I'm fast growing to like. Arriving at the supermarket a little after seven (I always go early to avoid crowds), I hopped out, grabbed a cart and strolled right in. After I tapped the ATM for cash then went about my business, because of the hour, there wasn't much in the way of shoppers, but what few there were in the store pretty much ignored me as I wandered the aisles picking up what I needed, when I arrived at frozen foods, I got a wicked reminder of the perils of exposing one's legs near freezer units as I shivered from how chilly it was on my legs. BBRRRRR!! Twenty minutes or so later, I was out the door with my purchases and headed back home, pretty as you please.

Afternoon (Jaunt #190): Part of the fun that comes from fashion freestyling is pushing the envelope, sometimes gently, other times, rudely. Now, I'll admit, I don't know where my afternoon outfit falls in that spectrum, so I'll leave that decision to you, my loyal readers as I headed out late in the morning in a turquoise polo shirt, my 17 inch Old Navy denim skirt and the Payless "Molly" platform wedge sandal in white and a matching Nicole Miller handbag from Penney's. The pushing part of the equation wasn't from wearing a short skirt, I've done that more times than I can count, but from wearing white shoes which helped to make for a summery looking ensemble, ditto with the bag and a white belt to boot, and it felt good to wear that outfit. As for the sandals, these are some truly amazing shoes, even with the one inch platform and five inch wedge heels, they're quite comfortable and surprisingly easy to walk in, moreso than even I anticipated. I'm glad I decided to invest in these sandals which are fun to wear.

I had two stops to make, the first to the main branch of the post office to buy a money order. I arrived a few minutes before it's noon opening, I hopped out and walked inside, there were some six or seven people ahead of me, but no one paid my outfit any mind, a lady behind me attracted my attention, but she asked if I had a pen to write an address on an envelope, I reached into my bag (I keep a pen in each and every bag), pulled out a pen and let the lady use it, she smiled and said thanks, and that was that. Ten minutes later, with nearly a dozen people behind me, I was finally waited on, but I acted calm, cool and collected, like everybody else, I bought my money order, filled it out, dropped off the envelope and left. My second stop was to Parx Casino in Bensalem as I had gotten a flyer saying I had $75 in free slot play until June 15th, so, with nothing else better to do, I drove there to try my luck. This made my sixth or seventh trip to Parx since my very first trip in August of 2010, and every time I've gone there, it was either in heels or a skirt or both as I feel supremely comfortable freestyling there since everyone's too busy playing the slots to pay any attention to a middle aged guy wearing women's clothes and shoes.

Well, I did strike it lucky on my favorite slot game, Sex and the City which I always play when I go to Parx (even though I've never seen the TV show), winning almost $200 bucks after some twenty minutes of playing. WHOO! Overall, I spent little over an hour in the casino which is a cool place to go, and isn't far to get to unlike Atlantic City. And the whole time, no one paid me and what I wore any mind which was kinda neat. All in all, a good day's outings, especially the afternoon jaunt as it was fun to wear white shoes, and a handbag to match! remember, color coordination is important!

Hey Jeff, I love your shoes. Those type are very in this time of year. You make the white shoes look good. I tried white shoes and can't make it look good. White, red, and purple are colours that I can't make look good, so I stick with black, brown and beige. Nice to see you in a sit down pose.

JeffB, Looking good in your jaunts today, I'm very impressed with your use of the white accessories in your afternoon jaunt to the casino. Those white shoes , white belt and white bag really perk up your ensemble. I like to wear white too. I have a pair of white wedge heels slides I bought last year from Sears. I have not worn them out yet this spring, but will soon. I also always wear a white belt with my white shoes too. I have a nice pair of Georgio Brutinni white flats that I wear all the time during the summer. They are actually men's but look very feminine and I gets lots of compliments on them. I recently ordered a pair of white patent pumps, Funtassima brand from ShoeBuy.com. I am expecting them to arrive this week and I will be wearing them out with my new white ankle skinny jeans and my new Hue Jeans style leggings, capri length in white too. I will be posting pics on my," Heeling with bluejay" thread along with a lot of other combinations of summer ensembles that I recently got. Thanks for posting and the great pics! Happy Heeling, bluejay

pumpcat: Thanks for the kind words. I didn't know whether or not I could pull off wearing white shoes, especially sandals, something I had never done before, but everything worked, and I had fun wearing those shoes. I also have those same sandals in black, and since I had so much fun wearing those shoes, I plan on wearing them more. As for sitting, when I first started wearing short skirts, I refused to sit anywhere because I was so self-conscious, now it's no big deal. bluejay: When I first bought those white shoes, I just KNEW I'd have to have a bag and belt to match. Proper color coordination is important! I recently bought a pair of white flats from Payless and might investigate white pumps as well. I had been leery about white shoes, now I don't find them to be any big deal. Mr. X: Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, winning a little cash at the casino was plenty cool.

Jeff, your turquoise/white outfit is certainly a bolder colour option, but if summer weather has arrived and other people are out and about in bright colours then why not join in the fun. For a simpler look (but still a bold option) perhaps a white skirt would be worth a try?

If you like it, wear it.

Good idea! I do have a 17 inch white skort which I wore last summer and would look great with the white sandals. I most certainly will take that combo out for a spin. That would be fun!

Jaunt #191, 6/15/2013:

SInce Flag Day was the day before, I thought I'd celebrate in my own way during my latest outing by sporting the red, white and blue, in this case, a red campshirt, white belt and blue denim skirt which I paired with the Payless "Molly" platform sandals in black and a black handbag. With temps reaching into the low 80's, I thought this would be a good time to wear a miniskirt, if you can call a 17 inch length a mini, though, considering how tall I am and how long my legs are, this item does qualify as a mini, but I was perfectly at ease in wearing it, and I felt quite cool and comfortable, something I can't say in shorts or traditional jeans, men's or women's. And that's why I plan to wear nothing but skirts (and the occasional skort) on my outings this summer.

Anyhoo, my first stop of the day was to University City to tap an ATM for some spending money, hopping out, I walked to the bank, drawing a stare from an older gentleman in passing. From there, it was off to my favorite comic shop, I parked nearly a block away and walked to the store, now, let me digress and talk about how the Molly sandals are a real treat, I mean, whoever heard of five inch heels that are actually comfortable and wicked easy to stand and walk in, and look good on my feet, I'm not exaggerating when I say I could wear these sandals all day long and not feel so much as a twinge of pain. Unless I discover something else, these could well be my go to summer shoes, something I never thought I'd say about a sandal, let alone a platform sandal, but these shoes are just plain FUN to wear! Back to my jaunt, I spent nearly twenty minutes in the comic store, yapping about Man Of Steel among other movies about comic book superheroes. From there, I went around the corner to a convenience store for a paper, on my way back to my car, I could hear wild cackling behind me and someone chortle, "Look at that crazy guy!" I guess she meant me. No big deal.

Back in the car, it was off to South Jersey, my first stop being Chick-Fil-A for lunch, I did get a couple of stares here and there, was it the skirt or the shoes that attracted those stares? Who knows, but I paid them no mind as I went about my business of enjoying my lunch. My next stop was to Barnes & Noble, grabbing four sci-fi and horror magazines, I went to the lounge area, bought a cup of iced tea and sat down to read. Now it's important to note that once I was hideously self-conscious about sitting down a short skirt like what I wore, fearful of the skirt riding up and showing off more skin than I wanted, but things have since changed, if women have no problem with a short skirt riding up while seated, why should I? And I didn't. After leaving the store with some manga, I made Sears my last stop of the day where I did a little shopping, I attracted more attention, this time, a couple of black kids, a girl and a boy, neither older than eight or nine, the boy in particular was openly agape when he saw me and, for a brief time, he actually followed me around and stared while I looked at clothes until his mother corralled him. I found that little interlude rather comical.

I didn't leave Sears emptyhanded as I picked up two women's tank tops (something I'd been curious about wearing) and a couple of pretty skirts, no denim this time, just wait until you see me wearing them on future jaunts. Once again, another enjoyable outing, one made even better by wearing a short skirt and those uber-cool Payless sandals. More fun to come.

Jaunt #192, 6/16/2013:

I found myself facing something of a quandary today. I wanted to go on an outing, but I didn't feel like getting dressed up or wearing something even mildly elaborate, in other words, I was feeling lazy. What to do? Well, I checked my mental picture files and thought back to all the times I had seen women out and about on Sundays wearing casual attire, so I put together a similar sort of outfit, that being a blue tank top with a braided neckline, a 15 inch denim miniskirt from JCPenney, Payless "Felix" flats in white and my Nicole Miller handbag. The pendant I added at the last minute before I took the pictures.

Regarding the top, that was another experiment since I had never worn a tank before and found it nice, and the styling was quite fanciful. A bought a second such tank in black, and just wait until you see the skirt I pair with that top! As for the skirt, at 15 inches "long", this makes the shortest skirt I've ever worn in public, but, like everything else I've worn, I felt perfectly at ease and comfortable wearing it, and since I didn't wear the top tucked in, I went without a belt, so, with the skirt sitting at my natural waist, it looked longer than it really was, and I was able to sit in it without having to worry about untold angst. Lastly, I bought the Felix flats just a week ago and they too were comfy and easy to wear. One thing I had seen in my travels is that women rarely wore heels of any kind on Sundays, what I saw were usually flats, sneakers, sandals or the dreaded flip-flops which I will NEVER wear, no matter what!

Anyhoo, I headed out to Best Buy in Springfield, after arriving, I hopped right out and went inside. There was a good sized crowd in the store at just before twelve noon, but no one paid me any attention, save for a salesperson who asked if I needed help, otherwise, I casually wandered the aisles like every other shopper for a solid half hour amidst young and old, no one gave me so much as the time of day. After leaving the store with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and Jesus Christ Superstar on Blu-Ray, I drove down the road to Subway for lunch, then headed back home as the skies grew murky and a thunderstorm was in the afternoon forecast. It felt good to really dress down, to be really casual, but still wear a skirt, and it was fun as well.

Well, I've never had anyone compliment me on my calves before. Many thanks. As for that pic, it was kind of rushed, only so much I can do with a ten second delay on my camera. Oddly, enough, when I sat in a regular chair at Subway, that wasn't a problem at all.

Thanks for the kind words. The tank was comfortable, given how warm it was. Glad you liked the necklace, I want to add more jewelry, mainly bangles (if I can find them for larger wrists like mine) and ankle chains.

... I want to add more jewelry, mainly bangles (if I can find them for larger wrists like mine) and ankle chains.

Half the time I think that bangles would fit fine on my wrist, if only I could get them over my hand ! I tend to have to stick to wearing a watch or bracelet with a fastening or hinge, or I really like the ones with a gap that twists open to slide around the wrist (I think that's called a "torsion bracelet"). I like wearing an ankle chain but for me it has to be quite subtle (not too chunky) and I'll only ever wear it barefoot, never with an ankle strap shoe, and only ever with heels never flats (I'm not saying they're rules, just my personal preferences).

If you like it, wear it.

SK: Well, we all have our preferences. No biggie. I've had the same trouble like you when it comes to bangles, and I do want to wear them since my right wrist feels, well....naked when I'm out on a jaunt. Perhaps a standard bracelet would work better. Oh, well, guess I'll just have to keep on looking. As for ankle chains, I agree that wearing them with ankle strap shoes is silly, otherwise, I'd wear them with heels OR flats.
