LuvyourShoes Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 He did bomb... lol. I love how this is starting to catch on!!
jdmonto Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 i remember someone, not too long ago, who was asking a lot of questions, almost like doing research in this forum, maybe it was fox news doing their homework.
HappyinHeels Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Well, we all say the goal is more public awareness and this certainly advances the cause. At one time a news story about women getting tattoos was avant-garde fot its time and then it became commonplace. I don't think this is any different. Time will tell but only if every guy who has the idea of wearing them DOES IT . Come out of the shadows and be counted. HappyinHeels
Heelster Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 http://video.foxnews...ear-lady-shoes/ They are talking about us guys, I think they have been poking around on the forum. Seems your link may have disappeared - I get "Not found"
Rei Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 The link is working fine for me. Honestly, I thought the way he portrayed it as a possible upcoming fashion trend felt lame. I'm sure there are some people that would take part in that, but I am after something else. A permanent, consistent, and defining self-image, of which I want heels to be a part of. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛABΕ
HighHeelLover86 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Oh good grief! This guy bombed! LOL Link to article Men Who Wear Lady Shoes I can't believe how negative the comments are at the bottom of this page. Yes its just seven comments as I write this but still. Then again it is Fox News we're talking about. (Sorry for anyone who likes Fox News, I think they are too right wing but that's just me.) It seems they are trying to make this into some big negative thing which really bugs me. The interview was a bit more open minded but the fellow they interviewed was, i thought, a tad uninformed to be honest, and a bit uncomfortable. Now an interview with, let's say, a prominent and experienced member of our site here on a morning news show would be impressive! The link is working fine for me. Honestly, I thought the way he portrayed it as a possible upcoming fashion trend felt lame. I'm sure there are some people that would take part in that, but I am after something else. A permanent, consistent, and defining self-image, of which I want heels to be a part of. I agree whole-heartedly. Life is like a good shoe store, the more variety the better!
SF Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 and ABC, NBC, CBS are centrist?? (just me I guess).... "Why should girls have all the fun!!"
Foxyheels Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 ha Ha love the standard bigoted keyboard warrior replies to the article. High heels are the shoes I choose to put on, respect my choice as I repect yours.
Heelster Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Seems your link may have disappeared - I get "Not found" Never mind - it's working just fine now. All I can say is thatthe more it's mentioned, the more possibilities arise. Agree, the comments at the end of the article don't bod well.

Agree, the comments at the end of the article don't bod well. The comments are not from what I wold call today's average person, I laugh at these people they are so behind the times and end up looking stupid to the tolerant majority. Heelster Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 The comments are not from what I wold call today's average person, I laugh at these people they are so behind the times and end up looking stupid to the tolerant majority. Unfortunately, those are the kinds of comments I would expect to hear around here. I'm seeing less and less tolerance, and more "they are shoving it down our throat" comments on a variety of issues. Granted, I live in an area that has a pretty strong right wing lean, so topics like todays announcement from the Boy Scouts of American get comments like "They caved to the queers" or worse. Location means everything, even on social issues.
Foxyheels Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I agree location has a great deal to do with it but overall it's much better and it will spread. I'm lucky that it's very tolerent across the UK in general and at my work place. Hopefully it will improve for you soon. High heels are the shoes I choose to put on, respect my choice as I repect yours.

Stilletto2004 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Any mention is better than no mention. Even if people talk about it negatively - it puts 'it out there.' And it registers in peoples heads. Some people will genuinely like it, some hate it, and some just won't care. Publicity is publicity if you ask me. And it's all good. It's just another seed planted. Absolutely, my friend! The guy in the video makes a great point though guys, baby step. If you try to cram too much down their throats, it's going to come back up all over you. mlroseplant Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Eh, it wasn't terrible, but then, I'm not sure I would have done any better. I thought he let her get away with the discomfort card a little too much. "Be careful what you wish for!" If there's one thing about us heeling guys, I think we are way more conscious about shoe fit and shoe training than your average female. Also, we never got to see what he was actually wearing on his feet, though we got to see the flat boots of the somewhat hostile interviewer.
Shafted Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 It should be obvious where he is getting his info. It's here. There is no don't in my mind. He may even be a member here. We may even have talked to him, guys. What he's talking about are the styles for men that originated here. Shafted, the boots that is! Alexis Hill Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Fox news isn't really known for being open minded so it was probably was a pretty good interview considering. The problem still is the people who want more confidence and acceptance to maybe try heels in public don't really look to Fox News as a sympathetic outlet. And as you can read from the comments on their page the story doesn't appeal to their general fanbase.
gary0618 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 http://video.foxnews...ear-lady-shoes/ This video is from October 2011. I think the interest from the media has passed. FLAT SHOES, LIKE FLAT DRINKS, ARE FOR FLAT PEOPLE

Rockpup Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 At least the guy seems open to the idea, and I like how he does describe fashion trends as starting from those on the fringe. 5" spike heels are not practical so I doubt they will ever have mass acceptance on guys, since even women who wear them tend to have a bit of a stigma if not dressed up for an event. But why can't we enjoy a well designed 3" heel? Cowboys wear em, and not counting Brokeback Mountain (sheep herders, not cowboys), most people see the cowboy image as manly. Yep, I remember that too that is why I suspect it came from here. In all fairness the guy is a blogger and his blog about us got Fox's attention. Shafted, the boots that is! Daisuki Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I guess any exposure is good exposure, but I don't agree with the comments that 5" heels are "extremely uncomfortable" and that I hear nothing but complaints from women who "have" to strut to work with them on. I think we can agree that 5" heels will probably never be sneakers, but they certainly give me much better arch support than any of my men's shoes. Sure, there are 5" heels that are uncomfortable, but there are also flats that are uncomfortable. And my 5" heels are quite comfortable, thank you very much.
Simcity3 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I would not get to excited. Since the name of the article is "Men Who Wear Lady Shoes" it still seems we are to far away from them ever getting unisex. So for now im not putting to much into this. Sry for being a mood killer. http://meinheels.wordpress.com/
Curt Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Its going to be ladies shoes until they bring out heels for guys. It doesn't worry me because I'm pretty much a girl and have no problem shopping in any store. Been mistaken for a girl more than not. I couldn't imagine wearing heels looking like a guy. That's just me. Would you guys buy heels if they were marketed for you guys? They won't be elegant like the girls shoes. Clarissa.
Jkrenzer Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I don't think heels will ever really go mainstream for us men. But if they do I would still opt for thinner heels as they are both more comfortable and easier to wear than block heels. Femme is a mentally induced preconception.
JeffB Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 In the greater scheme of things, does it really matter if men in heels goes mainstream or not? I for one could care less either way, I'm just going to continue wearing what I like when and where I like, society be damned. I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
