I have my legs waxed about 3 times a winter so I can tape them correctly. Now very little grows back in the summer and what does is very fine and light colored. My hairy arms have thinned out too.

So I wear shorts all summer and I wear heels.

So I've Shown Sandals and Shorts, Heels and Shorts, and Boots and Shorts.

Today's selection Booties and Shorts. I just love the faux back tie on these Delicious High Heels.

Thanks @jeremy1986 I try to wear a different heel to work each day. I can go for several months without repeating because I work under 100 days a year.

I got an email this morning that my JS heels were in at Macy’s ready for pick-up. So after work I went by to collect them (under 2 miles from work). I’ll try them on later and post about them in the next few days….hope they fit. But this is about the encounter I had when I went to pick them up.

I was wearing my FreeBird Retro wooden sandals, black this time. (Boy they make a great sound on the cement and you can knock the heels together and get a great wooden sound.)  As I approached the pick-up guest I was stopped by a mother and teenage daughter.  The mother loved them and wanted to talk heels with me, so we talked for about five minutes before she went out to VS.

After getting the box, I walk through the shoe department (separate women’s only store) just to see what was new.  Two women trying on heels saw me in my heels, gave me a thumbs up. I sat and talked with one of the women as her friend was looking for heels. She wanted to ask me so many questions, wanted to stand face to face to see how tall I was in them. She also liked my pedicure and manicure. Her friend got done shopping (they didn’t have her size in what she wanted to try on) so they went to pay for the pairs they had found and I headed home.

Just another day in CaliWorld.

Thanks @CAT but that's not an outing, when you live your life in heels that's just everyday life. I was at work when I got the email, those just happen to be the heels I had on.  I chose heels that are comfortable and fun. And those certainly are a lot of fun to wear - last year I met the woman they are named after.

I haven't added to this for some time. Half the time I have been on vacation but the main reason is I have been nursing a sore ankle/foot. They finally took a MRI and it was not good news. The good thing is it hurts less in heels, much less pain than in the "walking boot". Since I have been laying low I have been running errands in my old Steve Madden wedge mules.

I have had two interactions with random people. First was last week in a Costco parking lot where a guy about my age followed me out the store a to my car, his was next to mine. He said "I have to ask, why the heels?"  I told him it changes how my hip works and solves pain.

Then today as I was walking into a Post Office, a woman walking by said "Nice heels, I really like your heels".

When I went back to my car she was sitting in her car on the phone. My car was parked next to her's with mine facing in a different direction. So as I got into my car she again said how much she liked heels.

Cali,

Hopefully, as more members read experiences like yours, they will realise they too can go about their business wearing heels and the roof will not cave in around them. Just appear confident, look like you belong, and the vast majority of the world will just accept it as a part of the background. It works for you, for me, and for many others here who learned enjoying life whilst forging ahead is the top priority. HinH

I had my MRI review this morning. She went over the MRI's with me and one is almost disintegrate - 90% gone and the other is totally shredded - about 70% . Normally they would talk about surgery, but this doctor understands I wear high heels for my hip, and surgery, cast, recovery would mean 6 months of hip pain. Not good. So I am just going to tape it correctly and rest/ice it.  Operate if and when it goes completely.

She also wants me to get (front) lace up boots so I can control the pressure on my foot. I told her those are hard to find. She said "You right, I don't even have a pair myself."

So I'm on a lookout for some new front lace-up boots.

Round toe, 4 inch differential (heel - toes), platforms are okay, wedges are okay.

I also have to change my ski boots to a front opening type.

@Cali are you looking for ankle, mid-calf, or higher for the shaft?

I am sorry to read the not-so-great news, but hopefully some changes will help alleviate some pain as well as prolong the need for surgery.

Sorry to hear about your ankles. Hopefully there will be some work-arounds. Jean Gaborit makes custom high heeled boots, including lace ups. They are beautifully made and being fully custom made, fit well. And although they tend to specialise in taller boots, you can have the shafts any height you like. They are fully custom. Just a thought.

Cali,

Whilst I have only one pair of lace-up knee-high boots I did buy them at my friend's store (Skyscraperheels) in Chicago at least 8 years ago. I know he still has some of these in stock as I have seen them on various visits to his shop. He also sells Vollier (made in the UK) corsets there which many like. There are many shoe shops in Los Angeles which may have lace-up boots or wedges for that matter. I stopped in to see Maya Shoes there in 2018 just before going on to San Francisco. They are out there it's just a matter of finding them. HappyinHeels

I was just thinking that all of my work boots except for one have been front lacing, so then I got to thinking what about the "work" boot style heels? I used to have a pair by Doc Marten. I can see where you'd have trouble finding a lot of this stuff in person in the shops, though. Sorry to hear about your ankles.

In the past I have tried to find these "work boots" or "combat boots" types, also know to have lug soles. I have ordered on-line and returned at least 4 different pairs in the past two years along..  And tried on numerous pairs in stores.

DSW had G by Guess combat styles the last two or three years. Still do.

I have tried several of these combat boots before with none fitting, too tight on my toe box.  I just need to try them on until I find one that fits. Beside in store shoe shopping is lots of fun, who knows what else I will find :cheeky:. The new line of Fall Boots should be starting to show up, summer sandal clearance should be in high gear, new stores in the mall,  .......

@CAT  Those are the same as what @Heelster showed,

It looks like its a faux lace up. How high is the heel?

They are not the same boot at all.   They are completely different.   There is a functional zipper or the inside Funchal lace up. And a faux zipper on the outside toward the front.   The heel is prob around 3-1/2”.  Also mine are not quilted.

G by Guess has been pushing these styles over the last few years. I have two different pairs, neither of which we have posted. Maybe I'll get a picture for you. I'd have to think they will have a new style out this year too. They seem to sell well as they run out toward Christmas.

I really need to try that style on first.

I looked at DSW yesterday but didn't see anything I liked. Didn't have time for the mall. Later this week.

If you are going to wear heels to work in the summer why hide them. Shorts and wedges today.

I was going to a coffee shop at work and two women passed me and told me that my shoes must be hard to walk in. I respond that they weren't, really very comfortable. As I walked in a woman behind me, also in high heels said to me, some people just can walk in heels and we laughed.

I find it humorous when women see men wearing heels and ask/comment on how we manage to walk in them. Sure, I’ve been asked that question, and my response is a simple one....PRACTICE.

Wore my tan SM Manners with shorts to all day all-hands meeting. The woman who sat next to me wanted to try on my heels. Turns out she was a size 10 too, but we didn't exchange shoes.

Then while walking to a sub-meeting another woman stopped me to compliment me on my heels; told me she wore heels for over 20 years but can't presently wear them because of foot pains, I really walk like it was nothing. I thanked her.

Sounds awesome. I learned a long time ago that if women like something they see, they’ll compliment you. I’ve had women, young and old say nice things about my skirts, dresses, shoes, handbags, even my earrings. That ALWAYS feels good.

Thanks Jeff. My nails also got a lot of compliments, I'd show pictures of them but those pictures disappear.

Again all day meetings. Wore the Charles David Affluent wedges (below) with dark blue shorts and dark blue shirt. Five compliments on my heels, women really like this old heels. Several very positive compliments on my fingernails. One woman told me she was jealous because I always have nice nails and asked how I find the time to do it. LOL
