New pair of boots starts me serious street heeling.

Wow! Just got back from a twelve hour day at the theatre. I did lighting for two back to back three hour show. The show was a old style country music show featuring Leona Williams.

www.leonawilliams.com

I was once again wearing my skinny jeans and black patent stiletto ankle boots with my black Pittsfield Community Theatre tee.

Got in to work at 10:30AM to gel the stage lights before the band showed up. I introduced myself when they came in and that I would be their lighting tech for the shows.

Other artist appearing were Bob Elston & The Roadrangers, Marlene Carpenter, Kevin Carver and Doyle Grisham from the Jimmy Buffett Band.

I only had one comment in between shows (the only chance to mingle with people) from an older woman who knew Leona. She told me she had seen many young women wear similar clothing to what I was wearing and that I pulled off the look better than them. Then she asked, "Can you walk in those?" My response was only to raise my eyebrows to which she responded, "Of course you can."

The show was really an accident resulting from another venues cancellation.

It was a gruling day consisting of two 4 hours shifts in the lighting control box.

It's our first big snowstorm of the season and I decided to eat out and do some grocery shopping. I wore my Pleaser Legend 8890 thighboots over my Levi's Ex-Girlfriend skinny jeans with a celtic cross tie-dyed tee topped with my Peruzzi leather jacket and wool fedora. Headed off first to McDonald's for lunch. My heels make a very loud noise on the ceramic tile floors as I headed to place my order for an mushroom and swiss angus burger with fries and a hot caramel mocha. Very little attention was paid to me at all from the other customers. Finished my meal and then headed off to George's Banana Stand for some groceries. Again very little attention was paid to me. The Pleaser Legend 8890's are turning out to be a good winter boot and I was able to get a surprising good grip with them on the snow covered pavement. They also kept my legs and feet nice and warm and dry. All with a 4 inch stiletto heel.

Good for you, Shafted! Sounds like you had a good time wearing your thigh boots! Bravo!

Shafted, Your thigh boots have become such a normal part of the local backdrop, like a lobster crossing the road or Maine's often horizontal precipitation, that nobody pays that much attention to you as everything appears "normal". That's the sign you have arrived indeed. Well done my friend. HappyinHeels:wavey:

Wow, you look amazing Shafted! I can tell the difference between pre-weight loss Shafted (2005-6) and after weight loss Shafted (2011 onwards).

Congratulations, you must feel very proud of yourself.

The weight loss was a bonus of the nutritional suppliment program I am on. It was a sweet bonus. The real cool thing is I dropped a shoe size from 11US womens to a 10 ( more shoes to pick from off the rack). The downside is I have quite a few pairs of pumps that don't fit well anymore.

Tonight I wore the Restricted Barberella boots with skinny jeans and theatre tee. Tonight I worked with the boss. I had completely forgotten I was wearing new boots which she hadn't seen yet. Well anyways when she got a look at them she fell in love with them as I had. When I took them off to exchange them for my work boots she seized the opportunity to try them on. She absolutely loved them and expressed how comfortable they were. She then proceeded to tell me I wasn't getting them back (she was kidding of course). I'm beginning to see a pattern in some of my favorite boots. I seem to be having a love affair with suede. The suede used for women's boots is so much more soft and supple than the suede used in men's boots. I also seem to be finding a correlation between suede boots and more comfort. The boots that are suede are getting the priority for the shaft alterations that all my kneehigh and thighhigh boots need to fit with my thinner legs.

Well, I went out for breakfast at McDonald's this morning. I strode up to the counter in my skinny jeans and Restricted Barberella boots. While I was in line to place an order I got a few chuckles from a bunch of guys wearing clothing of some home improvement business. I took it in stride and just chose to ignore them. If they found me amusing, I am only too happy to have entertained them. I'll never blame anyone for getting a good chuckle out of the way I dress. It kind of goes with the territory.

I couldn't agree more. If one can't handle that particular territory, then going out in public in heels is most definitely a non-starter. To anyone unaccustomed with being out in public, the important thing is to not let the occasional chuckle, giggle or laugh get to you when out and about, heck, if you choose, you can look at those people as being beneath you for not understanding or appreciating the unique way you choose to dress.

Went out grocery shopping yesterday in a pair of skinny jeans with a DKNY tee and my new Restricted mid calf boots. I didn't tie my hair back today and just let my shoulder length hair flow out from under my fedora. I noticed that people do occasionally try to descreetly peek at me. They do keep it very low key to their credit. Got to the checkout line with my stuff where I was greeted by the usual cashier that checks out my stuff about 80% of the time. We where talking about the reusable grocery sack that I use all the time. It's absolutely amazing how much stuff it holds. We both like to gab at the checkout. There were two other ladies in line behind me who eagerly jumped into the conversation. I think that my demeaner really loosened them up and set them at ease. I get the feeling that they were somehow delighted to meet a guy such as myself. It's quite rare for me to use a shopping cart. Today as most others I just use a hand basket. So no hiding behind a shopping cart for me.

Thanks for you criticism Tech. The hair is just tied back most of the time. When I tie it back it's kept very neat. The hair down thing doesn't work well for me hence the hat. Thanks for letting me bounce alternate looks around. I am completely open to criticism, lord I dish it out alot. I like my ponytail better anyway. Thanks again.

I'm not critisizing you, per-say, just the pony-tail, its really out-dated by a long-shot, and wreaks havoc with the overall look in a "not so good" way...

Neve Ben a fan of a pony tail on a man, just not right in my mind. Personally I'd get rid of And concentrate ona stylish statement hat to compliment an outfit.

High heels are the shoes I choose to put on, respect my choice as I repect yours.

How about a crew cut to complement the suede boots?

Crew cuts don't work so well on me due to my head shape. Sure would be low maintenance. Hair has always been an issue with me. I tried many cuts and none of them have suited me. I've found short cuts (longer than a crew cut) very tough to tame. I have these wings around my ears that just won't go away. For me the long hair has been much more manageable. I don't care for it down, but the ponytail has been low mantenance. I think what I need is a style for longer hair, but I do wonder how long I will be able to maintain it. If it only was as easy as clothes or shoes.

Why not shave it all off and have a bold bald head?

Had thought about it. Have to say no for the same reason as the crew cut, head shape. Until I figure out what I want I'll try to figure out something other than the ponytail

Short and tidy would be just fine, doesnt have to be something "amazing!" Just something that doesnt scream 1980's... Look at your hair from the front, now make it do that all the way round and it would be better..

Shafted, Amazingly enough, I agree with Tech! LOL  Pony tails are a bit passe. Keep it simple and up-to-date. Good luck and let us know what you do. Steve

That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I don't know if you'd call the ponytail look with out the ponytail or what.

Thanks for the input.

I wondered what it was just under the halo in your avatar. Now, how about a few nice wigs? You could coordinate them for colour with your shoes. I'll wait for the pink.

I've been wearing a pony tail for over 15 years. It's easy to manage, and one snip with scissors saves a trip to the barber shop and the expense of said trip. Tech and Steve63130 suggest the look is a bit old style well… check the age field (<---), but what of mine that is left looks good in a pony tail. Hair is like heels in public (only harder to hide). Go with what you are comfortable with, be it none to waist length (natural or not), and the rainbow is the limit on color. Again, as with heels, why should the gals have all the options and fun? As with heels and alternate dressing styles, a mirror is always a good tester.

I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.

I grew out all this hair. I should be able to get just about any style I want. Just stuck in the ponytail thing for a moment.

I have liked the ponytail for it's ease of wearing, but quite frankly it's kind of boring for me.

I'm not rushing out to get it cut just yet. But I'm listening to what everyone thinks. In the meantime I'm trying to find something I like.
