New pair of boots starts me serious street heeling.

Has little to do with my heel wearing lifestyle, Dawn, but more towards the open minded young woman half my age that if it wasn't for the huge age difference I'd be chasing.

This week I had an interesting encounter while relaxing in my truck in between my day job and my job at the theatre. I was kicked back with my feet hanging out the drivers side window when I noticed a couple of teenaged girls ogling my boot. (the red embroidered Dragon boot with 5 inch stiletto heels. My response was to look back and wave. And this is what followed. Girl1: (from across the street) I like your boots. Me: Thanks. Girl1: Can we come over and get a closer look at them? Me: Sure. Girl1: Wow, those are really cool (running her finger over the embroidery). Me: Thanks again. Girl1: Are you a cop? Me: (rather surprised) No, what makes you say that? Girl1: I see you parked here all the time, you're and undercover cop aren't you? Me: No, I work two jobs and I'm relaxing before I start my second job across the street there at the movie theatre. Girl2: You're lying. Look, he has a laptop, he is a cop. What's that? (pointed to my corset which I had taken off earlier and folded and placed on top of my laptop case. Me: A corset. Girl2: Isn't that a women's thing. Me: No, some men wear them too. Girl1: To suck in the guts, right? Me: (pointing to her) You got it. Girl2: Are you gay? Me: No, why do you ask? Girl2: Are those women's boots? Me: They were until I got a hold of them. Girl2: Then why are you wewaring them. Me: (with a big smile) Because I can. Girl1: You are a cop. I know because of the antennas on you roof. Me: Okay, I'm a cop. Girl2: I knew you were lying. Me: How do you know I'm not lying now? Girl2: What's in there? (referring to the top compartment in my laptop case. Me: Well, here's the power supply and my ID badge for my day job. That was enough, seeing the badge convinced them I wasn't a cop. Just then a red pick-up pulled up. Girl1: Well, our boyfriends are here we gotta go. Me: Seeya. I'm sure they mentioned me and my quirky personal style to them, but they appeared unphased. They then took off. All little while later they drove by and Girl1 stuck her head out the window and hollered, "Great boots!"

Disaster has struck. My favorite Two Lips stiletto boots, and most comfortable ones, have developed a crack in the heel block and it creaks with every step. I plan to see if my local cobbler can do anything for me, but I fear it may be beyond him. I know they're only shoes but it's like loosing a best friend.

Well in leau of this event, I decided to treat myself.

What a steal!

And something a little cooler for the summer.

Thanks, nhoj62. I guess nothing last forever, and they served me well. Like any favorite they got worn alot, if they still made them I'd buy another pair in a second. They had been through one sole replacement and two heel tip replacements so I can't complain. If possible I'll get them fixed even if it exceeds the original cost of the boot. That's how much I loved them.

Shafted:-) I know what you mean about the age difference. Many a time I thought that if I were about 20 years younger------. Sorry about your boots. I know how you feel about losing a favorite pair. Like losing a good friend. Hope they can be repaired. You really treated yourself good with the new boots and the ankle straps. I can see you wearing the boots to the threatre, but will you wear those snazzy ankle straps there also? They are a great look. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Well I wore my new ankle strap pumps to the theatre Friday night. I wore them with a pair of sparkly white socks. That night the new girl was also working. When she saw them, her response was, "Those are so cool!" I then lifted up my pant leg exposing the padlocking ankle strap and immediately she say, "Those are awesome, and the socks are a nice touch." I said, "And the locks are not just for looks, they're real and I can't remove the shoes without unlocking them or destroying them. "No way!", she answered. One thing I found out is that comfort wise socks and pumps just do not mix, at least most of my socks as the seams are way to corse on the toes with the tighter fit of a pump. It was time to stop at a local drug store to pick up a couple of packages of No Nonsense Knee Highs. These will definitely be on my feet next time I wear the pumps, which will be tomorrow night. I'll be sure to get my coworker to take a couple of pics of me in them. Pumps are also way more comfortable to wear in hot weather, while still having a closed toe. Now my new Kimel Design Studio "List" boots have just arrived from Zappos. I got this $170 pair of boots from them for just $40. I took them out of the box and I was in love. This thing is a work of art in real leather and suede. Real leather soles as well and leather covered heel. This boot is going to require no break in whatsoever. They are incredibly supple right out of the box. They felt just as incredible on my feet. When I got up to walk it was like it had no heel at all. They felt perfectly flat. I was thinking to myself these can't be 3.25" as was advertized. So I got out a rule and measured them up coming up with 3.5 inches. So that's what high quality is all about, high heels that feel like flats. I've got three other pairs with 3.5 inch heels and you can feel the heel on them, but not on this pair. I noticed they were a little loose about the ankles so in tightening up the ankle straps I ran out of holes, no problem. Went and grabbed my leather punch and added half a dozen more to each boot strap (did something similar with my Pleaser 8890-Legends with the thigh straps) so now the ankles can be cinched up properly and make the boot look even better on my legs. Everyone who is onto shoes should have one of these handy tools. The one I have can punch 6 different size holes. I was also impressed that an extra set of heel tips were included in the box. I definitely recommend scarfing these babies up if you can, you won't be sorry. Now guess where these babies were made. China, go figure. There is some darn nice stuff coming out of that country now. Oh, what fun I'm going to have.

Kimel Design Studio "List" boots

There is only a size 6 and an 11 left and they say they will not be restocking these.

They are good looking boots.

It must be nice to have someone at work that thinks heels are cool.

As always, I enjoy your posts.

I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.

Thanks, Thighbootguy. It's a shame these are being discontinued and that Zappos is clearing them out, as it really is an awesome boot both in looks and in comfort.

Shafted:-) I concur with what you say about hosiery making ladies pumps and boots feel and fit better. That's one reason why I wear pantyhose daily. I also have one of those leather punches that you have and they come in handy lots of times for a lot of things. Very handy for punching additional holes in belts and purse straps to get a customized fit. I'm really looking forward to seeing pics of you in your new shoes and boots. Cheers--- Dawn HH

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, it's been a very interesting week of firsts for me. To begin with, I have worn my new Ellie 5" ankle strap stiletto pumps to the theatre with nude kneehighs. I was working in the concession again this night last week. This rather unusual guy came to the window and ordered his stuff. As I was filling his order I noticed him giving me what I can only describe as an odd look. About 10 minutes later he came back to the window, and initiated the following short conversation with me. Him: I don't mean to offend you or anything, and I don't want you to take this the wrong way, (you can probably imagine what might be going through my mind at this point) but I'm a retired female impersonator looking for new talent. I wondered if you would be interested. I politely turned him down telling him that I really just enjoy wearing high heels. Now the next morning I tell one of my coworkers at my day job what happened to which we had the following exchange. Her: You know, there is a guy who retired to here who was a rather notable Las Vegas female impersonator. What did he look like? After I described him, her response was, "That's him!" Now for any of you inquiring why I didn't jump at this opportunity, the short and only real answer is I didn't have the time to commit to it. If I had the time I think it would have been a real hoot to do. I kind of felt bad for the guy, because him seeing me in heels he clearly recognized what he percieved to be natural talent, only to be turned down. I'm sure despite my heel wearing I would still need a lot of work before I would be a presentable female impersonator. And at this point I thought I had heard it all. This week the theatre is shut down for the local "Egg Festival" so I have been working as one of the main venue projectionist for the Maine International Film Festival. Sunday was a marathon day for me in the projection booth at the Waterville Opera House. My first movie started at 3:30PM and my last one ended at around 10:45PM with only enough time between movies to rewind and set up the next movie. And of course I was wearing heels, but enough about my heels. On the way home, as I was driving through downtown Fairfield at around 11:15PM I noticed a lone guy walking on the sidewalk wearing baggy highwater pants, baggy shirt, backwards baseball cap and what looked like a nice pair of beige suede lace up stiletto boots with a 3-4 inch shiny black heel. I was tempted to stop and compliment him on his boots and to recommend that if he really wants to wear them to ditch the baggy clothes and the ball cap, but thought better of it. I figured that this guy was out for a joy walk and probably doesn't wear them in public during the day. If I'd stopped he'd probably have run like the wind fearing that he'd been caught. BTW: I haven't forgotten your request for pics Dawn, just haven't had the opportunity to get any yet.

I took my Two Lips boots to my local cobbler today to see what he could do about the cracked heel block. He said he used to be able to do it, but now he can't get the parts. It's one of those good news bad news things. First the bad news. He can't fix them. Now the good news. Due to the way the heel is constructed it's still safe to walk on. The construction of the heel is that the spike is insert molded into the heel block so that despite the crack the structural integrity of the heel remains. It looks like they aren't dead yet.

Maybe you should have honked the horn at him at few times and whistled really loudly just for kicks.

Kidding.

Great way to handle that situation. I wonder if he has heard of you?

Interesting question, I suppose if he peruses this forum, he might have taken cues from me on street heeling in Maine.

Shafted:-) That man at the threatre that ask you if you would like to become a female impersonator no doubt recognized your talent for walking in heels, and made you the offer. What a fantastic story. It could have been a hoot for you. And I fully understand about the pics. Your a very busy man these days with all of your activities. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Thanks, Dawn! Well, I had a real interesting reaction from a couple that came up to the concession counter. As I was filling their order the following conversdation took place. Him: I like your boots. Me: Thank you. Him: That's amazing! You do things in those boots like no woman I have ever seen. You have raised wearing heels to a fine art. Her: I could never wear anything like that. Me: Oh, sure you could. It just takes the desire to wear them and lots of practice. I'd take that as a compliment, and from a guy even. Yep, that made my day.

Perhaps we ought to have generic cards printed up, and whenever we see another man wearing heels (almost ten times for me) we can hand them a card.

While working concession last night at the movie theatre, I turned to look out through the foyer to the box office, when I saw an amazing sight. A beautiful woman in a white blouse and burgundy skirt suit was purchasing a ticket. She had blonde hair neatly up in a bun and a beautiful pair of 3 inch classic black stiletto pumps. A few minutes later she came to the concession window. Me: Beautiful shoes! Her: Thanks. Me: It isn't often I see women wearing them. Her: There a lot of fun. Me: Oh, I agree. I continued about the business of filling her order. I don't know if she saw what I was wearing or not. If she did, she didn't let on even in her body language. Of course I was also wearing my Two Lips 3.5 inch stiletto boots. I know that in many parts of the world this would be an everyday experience, but here it's pretty rare.

That is so cool Shafted. Hi, I'm Johnieheel. My Girlfriend bought me a pair of Tommy Hill knee highs with a 3"block heel an which I wore to a gun show in cleveland, wallmart, around local and just about every where else and did not get one comment. I even ran into a couple of co-workers at kmart. One girl noticed and said something to another at work which was no big deal cause it aint no secret with me. I have this thing about letting everybody know I have a thing for heels so it doesn't come as a shock to them when they see me in them. You are right about getting brave and street heeling. Life is great after you try it once you won't stop. If you can't be your self, than who can you be and we can't let women have all the fun, now can we? happy heeling bro. Oh I forgot to mention when I was trying them on at the shoe store, I had to kick off my mary janes and it gave two older women a nice little supprise. I have had alot of fun trying on heels and get a kick out of peoples reactions.hahaha

Funny you should mention this as I do something similar. After all I wouldn't want my coworkers to be blindsided if I happen to see them outside of work. I've made it pretty clear that I wear them out and about, and daily.

Well, I finally have something noteworthy to report here from the past week. The first is that I have been invited to a "GIRLS night out" from a bunch of women that I work with at my day job with the stipulation that I wear any pair of my stiletto boots, and that they can get me on the dance floor in them. I said, "Sure, but how many guys have you asked on a girls night out?" to which she responded, "You're the first." Talking to some of my male coworkers about it they asked me if I was going to go. I responded by saying,"Wouldn't you?" and one ofther other guys says, "Hell Yea! I think it would be a blast." So here's to a rare opportunity given to a guy. :drinking: For the longest time now when I have been parked between my day and night jobs, I have noticed a very well dressed and attractive woman, who is always the one to close up the nearby bank. She always has on a range of kitten to stiletto pumps and slings that always look fantastic. Today I had to go into the bank to cash a couple of checks. And while I was at one of the teller window, I noticed she was serviceing the drive thru window and that she had on a pair of beautiful 3 inch stiletto mules. To my surprise she walked over next to the teller that was taking care of me. I initiated the following conversation. Me: I love your shoes. Her: Thank you! (her face lighting up like a christmas tree) Me: I can't help but to always check out what you are wearing on your feet when you leave the bank at the end of the day. It's always something beautiful. Her: (Indicating that she has seen me looking) I'm a shoe person and I love my shoes. Attractive, well dressed, great shoes and married  I don't think she even saw the black patent 3.5 inch stiletto boots I had on, but she probably did when I walked away. In any case I think I really made her day.
