keels Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 My wife now allows me to wear women's loafers. It's a start! 6
pebblesf Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Good for you buddy, give her time, she will come around to the heels also
jetheelsfan Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 I have been able to wear some of the women's lug sole shoes at will as they are an "ambidextrous" in appearance oxford. My best has been the hidden heel high-top AirWalk canvas athletic shoes. Just a bit higher to to delight - low enough for healthy foot comfort and great beginning.
jeremy1986 Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Good for you @keels! Do you mean allows you to wear them OUT, or allows you inside?
keels Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 I wear them out, supermarket, library, around town. No comments so far and the wife is happy! 1
RonC Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Do they have a heel of any kind, or are the flats?
keels Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 They have a small heel so are not totally flat.

keels Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 Here they are. Not to everyone's taste, but the are women's shoes which I wear everywhere. 1
bluejay Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Very unisex looking. I would wear them. I have lots of women;s flats that I wear out too, when I'm not wearing heels . Welcome aboard! Happy heeling, bluejay

My very 1st foray into wearing womens shoes in public was a pair of womens loafers very much like these, the other being keds. I remember being nervous as hell the 1st time, even though they could easily pass as mens wear...
Shyheels Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Indeed, I would not have picked these as women’s shoes. 1
mlroseplant Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 My wife has an interesting hangup in that if it's labeled "Women's size 9" she doesn't like it. If the same exact thing were labeled "Men's size 7" it would be ok. So when you say, "My wife allows me to wear women's loafers," a year ago I would have said, "Why did you bother to tell her in the first place? She would never know." In the present day, I think I have answered my own question in that it's the idea she's getting used to. When I bought my young son a very nice pair of dress shoes (low heeled) for a very nice price, she could not really argue with the fact that it was smarter to go the women's shoes route rather than the boys' shoes route. I think a lot of it is simply the perception, rather than the reality. Just because something is labeled "women's" doesn't fundamentally change what it is. A lot of women (and men) ain't figured this out yet. 1

I think we should drop the men’s and women’s labels and class everything as unisex, at the end of the day we’ve all proved on here that we don’t need labels 2

keels Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 I have had these for a while. Lower cut and a bit more feminine. 1
RonC Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 The low cut of those above is more feminine than the others, but both are nice.
mlroseplant Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 If I were going to lower myself to that level (poke!), I would choose the more open cut of the second set of loafers. Long before I started shaving my legs, I shaved the tops of my feet so as not to look so hobbit-like.
jeremy1986 Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 @keels, as said - you should easily be able to get away with these. The 2nd set is a little more feminine, agreed. Great that your wife is taking these steps for you.
