White stiletto court shoes

I'll have to say I have only seen young girls wearing them recently when I've been on nights out, but they wear all kinds of heels just to be fashionable. If I was to see an older woman say 25 or over I wouldn't think Essex girl at all.I would feel just the same as I do when I see any women wearing highish heels, which is a mix of awe and respect,I usually want to give them a compliment or some words of encouragement but I never have the bottle incase they think i'm a pervert or something. I saw a woman in my local shop (which is normally a high heel desert) and she was wearing a pair of well used black leather heels and the front of her foot was almost vertical. What made it so special though was the ease and grace with which she moved,I wanted to tell her how awesome I thought she was but I just stool there and said nothing LOL. Amanda, Sure, White Stilettos remind me of "Essex Girl" syndrome, however, that also required a mini and big blonde hairdo, they also had to be driving a white escort XR3i convertable and chewing gum. I don't think it is right to focus on the shoes alone because it depends upon the whole outfit which should be a pleasing contrast with either, say, a navy skirt-suit with white accessories, or would also look nice with a summer dress where white is part of the mix. Legs should be light tan or nude avoiding darker shades. Hem length should not be above the knee, or only just. White shoes were popular in the 60's and so look great with those classic outfits which even today do not seem dated, well to me anyway, and I guess Cinnamon would agree. Now that to me would look perfect and wonderfully femenine and would turn heads everywhere without a hint of "Essex Girl" syndrome. TB2

Are you confusing me with someone who gives a damn?

What do they evoke for you.

What feelings and images are conjoured up?.

YES! White strappy 4-5" heels at the bottom of a nice pair of lightly tan legs in a lightcolor mini. Pink, light green, powder blue satin, etc etc...

real men wear heels

I think they can look classy. It always depends on the outfit as a whole though. Bare legs & mini skirts invariably say "cheap" whatever the shoes are like.

Always High-Heel Responsibly

I agree with tanned legs!! but for some reason i think theyre a bit "loud",, I was always a bit iffy with not only white pumps but any white heels. I dunno its just me. For pumps there are only 2 colors i prefer...red and black

Agree, red and black is the best looking colour IMHO.

All mine are either black, red or both. Some 90% black though and the rest black/red or just red.

Wonderful shoes, pussieinboots. I especially like the shape of the heel. The bow on the back addes an extra bit of "feminity". I like white shoes. Also. One Easter season about 10 or 12 years ago, my wife bought us matching pairs of white high heel sandals. She doesn't wear heels as high as I like so her heels were 3" while mine were 5" high. She wore her heels to Church that Easter and I only wore mine around the house when we were alone at home. Since then, I (we) have purchased a few more pair of white shoes. One of my favorite I bought on eBay about 3 years ago. They're white Jante' pumps with 5½" heels. They fit great and are comfortable to wear. (I liked them so much, I also bought an identical pair of that style in black patent.) I have only worn "white" shoes in public a few time because they are "eye catching" and usually when women wear "white" they are dressed up for afternoon social occasions. Which, I never am. (community library functions, garden parties, church, weddings, etc.) I'll post a picture of them as soon as I can figure out how to adjust their size so they're not so large. :santa_hat:

Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

the story is, white shoes were associated with essex girls, etc., thats the way it was, even soulmate was a bit iffy about getting some now. However, before you start kicking off (london term, not dangling) if it's in context, then no probs. Same as blonde hair doesnt mean brain dead, although it might mean youre a hairdresser ( and I know some wkd hairdressers so dont go there!!!) I've got some white strappy sandals ive worn out for a meal before now, in high summer. Its my usual answer, as part of a co-ordinated look, wkd, done wrong, they look cheap. For example with cobalt blue, which will be the colour for summer, they will look brilliant ! Amanda, (who set the question), having stirred up a hornets nest, whats your take on it ??

and another thing, the other side now, i cant understand the "only black or red" thing. Ive got shoes in every colour except yellow and pink (yet), if the outfit calls for it i will. I do realise that in larger sizes, black and red are often the only choices and I do know that i am fortunate in being uk size 6 i can buy anything, but for me, red patent is a bit stereotypical (although i have one wkd pair office red patents). Given the choice: red patent v white, white wins every time !

As a heeler, I have also acquired many white stiletto pumps. Why white? White is also one of my favorite colors that seems so versatile in the colors it can be used with. The fashion minded seem to think spring and summer are the seasons when white should be worn, but I don't necessarily agree with their assumptions. Along with the whiteness of my acquirings, the stylings and designs were so enticings that I couldn't pass them up. I suppose every person that wears heels gets certain feelings while lounging or walking in them. Beside the obvious heightening and posturing of one's form, I have feelings of grandeur, stature, elegance, completeness, and even beauty. A pair of high stiletto heeled pumps in full view supporting a person wearing jeans and a shirt, is one of the pictures of perfection.

White is technically a non-color, like black. That said, I don't understand why white stilettos can't be as neutral (altough eyecatching, like every pair of heels :santa_hat: ) as black ones are. For me, they don't evoke Essex girl at all, nor other attributes often related to white.

Can you see the real me, preacher? Can you see the real me, doctor? Can you see the real me, mother? Can you see the real me?

. . .

That brings to mind one of my time-honored "Mars-Venus" comparisons. Ever notice that women recognize at least 14 different shades of white? There's "cream", "eggshell", "off-white", "snow", "Navajo", "bone", "sand", "seashell", and many more too numerous to mention, most of which are virtually indistinguishable to men. To men, in fact, white is pretty much the absence of color! Women recognize a far larger spectrum than men do. Men distinguish more than the basic Crayola-8 set but for men, a lot of the Crayola-64 set are pretty much redundant!

Have a happy time!

That is pretty sexist, and also untrue.

  • 2 months later...

I only have one pair of white high heels (the first pair I bought). I don't wear them that often since they don't match many of my wardrobe. But I have seen many others wear white high heels, and they definitely have their own distinct appeal.
