It also helps that I've worked there for over 35 years.

I did talk to my cobbler about how he reheels these hollow molded plastic heels, and his solution is less elegant, but similar in concept to @Puffer's method. I assume it is also somewhat less time consuming for a busy shop. He says he takes a small bundle of wooden dowels, beats them in the hollow space in the heel, glues them in, cuts and sands them off, and then nails the new rubber heel cap to that.

What I did not expect is that this simple question would lead to a several minute tirade on his part about how pretty much all modern shoes are junk. It might have been more than several minutes had I not been in rather a hurry--I actually sneaked out of work for a few minutes to go pick up my shoes, hoping that nobody would notice I was gone. They didn't.

I stopped by my local boutique shoe store. Wet day, no customers, so, I was able to have a long talk with the manager. She knows what I like and will order shoes that are in my size. I told her what happened to the heel on my Soda booties and she will bring it up with the rep. Also, she remember that I had purchased several colors of a heel called Agenda and I was lucky since the company only makes that style in black now.

We had all campus meeting today. Wore my black (below) knee high boots with a thin 3.6 inch heels. This is also the unoffical meeting of the high heel club. 5 women stop by my table to compare heels with me, 3 stiletto booties and 2 knee high boots. I was also stop by half a dozen other women so they could tell me how much they loved my boots. About 20% in low heels and a few kitten heels.

This sounds like a lot of fun.

I have been seeing a lot of boots with 3 inch heels lately.

I am now in a position that I have meetings with upper management several times a week. I see a lot more higher heels now.

Boots with 3” heels seem to be firmly in fashion - certainly on my side of The Pond. It’s a style I really like, probably my favourite style

I don't know why keep doing this. I had a 4 hour break to fill on Thursday so I went shoe shopping. Looked at a large Macy's. The section of non sneakers (trainer) is so small now. Short heels or ugly shaped heels.

Looked at several other shoe brand store ... NOTHING.

Then went to DSW. Again the sneakers must be breeding at night and spreading through the store. Nothing of interest

BRING BACK DECENT HEELS NOW!!!!!!

One of my earliest clients, a talented auto mechanic, passed away unexpectedly last week.  At the funeral last Wednesday there were only two or three women other than those in the family who were dressed up for the occasion.  Other than two female family members, none of the other women were wearing heels.  Several women were wearing ankle boots with low heels and several others were wearing casual clothing with crocs.  It seems like dressing up for any occasion is out of fashion these days.  It’s very disappointing to those of us that appreciate viewing well dressed beautiful women.

Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

I'm afraid it's no better on the other side of the world. The styles available in the stores are absolutely awful. Like you said, short heels and/or weirdly shaped huge heels. They're everywhere! The only good thing I have to report is that they are indeed everywhere. Heels, though hideous, are still alive and well in northern Vietnam.

And not Constantinople. . .

Sorry, I love that song! 😁

If you need a song for that part of the world it could be "The Lass of Richmond Hill" or "On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at"

New comment today from a younger woman:

"you have such a great shoe game, so much better than mine."

Oddly enough I had a similar compliment the other day from someone who wears stylish heels herself. She said envious of my boots, I was quite flattered

I am only posting when something new happens. The post above is one such time and today in a parking lot a woman asked me "why do you want to be so tall?" I told her it helps my hip and she good and continue into the building. And yes she was short.

I just purchase a pair of

Journee Collection
Women's Samara Peep Toe Booties

Does anyone have experience with the Journee Collection?

Cali,

I have several pairs of Journee Collection in boots , booties and shoes. I'm OK with them. Mostly bought from DSW. Never saw the pair that you're referring to.

The Journee Collection 'Women's Samara Peep Toe Booties' can in last week but I was too busy to try them on. Yesterday I took them out to try them on and the back zipper would not go down, so I couldn't even try them on.

I also thought they looked a little cheap. So back they went. I have another pair coming later this week too. Hopefully those will work.

It's been some time since I wrote in this thread.  Mostly since I have been having problem finding new heels. The sneaker/croc generation has taken over.

I was at a meeting on Tuesday and there was 4-5 women with heels over 2 inches, one at 4 inches.

Then yesterday I ended up in the ER, allergic reaction to a Costco sample. The woman who drew my blood told she wished she could wear heels but back surgeries made it possible. And the nurse assign to me was suprise when she handed me my wedges. Said, "can you walk in these, I could never." So I put on the wedges, walked to the restroom. When I got back I asked her, "Well, can I walk in heels?"
