Thighbootguy Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 I just spent the day in Washington DC at the National Gallery wearing black leggings, a long white turtleneck that falls about where a mini skirt would fall, a gold clamshell belt and gold bracelet, black leather OTK boots with 3” stilettos, and my black leather blazer. I started off wearing my 4” heeled boots but in the parking lot I noticed my left toe was hurting. Knowing that I would be in my boots and on my feet all day, I went back to the hotel and pulled on the 3” heels. I didn’t seriously consider the 5” heels. I took the 5A buss into DC and had about a half a mile to walk to the National Gallery. DC has the worst sidewalks for walking on in the area of the mall. The surface is a course pebble that is uncomfortable underfoot in a single sole boot. I think I was wearing the only pair of 3” heels on the Mall. I figure that about twenty thousand people had the opportunity to see me, but I suspect only a few hundred noticed as I walked to and from the Museum. In the museum, I don’t think more than a handful of people even notice what I was wearing. Consider that you have just walked into a room walled with Dutch masterpieces, would you notice anything else? Anyway, I had a great time wandering the galleries and finding a few old friends (Veneer, Rembrandt, … ). I did stop twice and sketch and got some nice comments about the work. The secondary reason for stopping was my feet were starting to let me know they were getting tired of being up on heels. Unfortunately my boots had a worn heel tip on one heel and the metal spike was exposed. The floors in the National Gallery are polished marble. That heel on those floors made walking “interesting”. By the time I left the Museum and walked back to the bus stop the heel tip was destroyed. Tonight, for dinner I went back to the same Italian restaurant I went to last night and sat at the grill bar again. Tonight I wore black leggings the short leather skirt, a white satin blouse, a black leather vest, highlighted with a gold bracelet and the gold clamshell belt (outside the vest). I topped it off with my royal blue thigh boots with the gold boot chain. There were different hostesses on duty and the welcomed me like any other customer. I told them the grill bar would be fine and thew directed me to it. The meal was good but uneventful. My legs and feet were telling me it was time to get off my heels, so I headed back to the hotel. The evening clerk greeted me as any other guest and I headed up to my room and crashed. I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
JeffB Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 TBG: Bravo to you on your latest outings! Your boldness in expressing your fashion freedom in such varied environments is an inspiration to all of us! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Thighbootguy Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 What I didn’t mention in my last post was that I had to wait 40 minutes for the 5A going back to my hotel so I was sitting on a bus waiting bench with lots of folks walking by. I sat with my legs crossed (ankle on knee) and just waited for the buss. Other passengers joined the queue and no one even gave my boots a second glance or an askance look. On my last morning I wore my royal blue thigh boots with 5” stilettos, black leggings and the long white turtleneck down to breakfast. Before I checked out I pulled on the short leather skirt but not my blazer. I made several trips out to the car carrying my bags and guitar. On the trip home I stopped at a Bob Evans (family style restaurant). The host seated me in a booth deep in the dining area. As soon as I was seated one of the waitresses asked me where I had gotten my boots and shared that she loved them. I ordered my meal from a different waitress and asked her if she would ask the boot loving waitress to stop by. When she did, I gave her information on where to look and what to look for. She said she had gotten her pair in Los Vegas and was looking for another source. She showed me her charm bracelet with a little high heeled pump on it and said she was a shoe nut. On the way out I was paying my bill and the register clerk was asking someone something and not getting a reply. She said, “They never pay any attention to me.” I said, “Get a pair of boots like these and they will.” She had me back up so she could see then. Her eyes got real big and I got a “WOW”, then she called out loudly to someone else in the kitchen area, “DID YOU SEE HIS BOOTS?” There was much (positive) good natured laughter and merriment as we all bud each other a good day. Jeff - Thanks for the kind words. I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
Thighbootguy Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 I just ran a very quick shopping trip at Sam’s wearing black leggings, black knee high boots with 2” block heels, a black cotton loose fitting long sleeved top, and a short black leather skirt. Several of the staff went out of their way to greet me, which goes a long way to raising my comfort level. Other than being the only person wearing a skirt, it was an uneventful trip. I’m convinced I don’t get any social pushback because I present an image of confidence and have an attitude that (I hope) is read as, “why would anybody be looking at me?” rather than, “Hey, what are you looking at?”. I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
Thighbootguy Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 (edited) I wanted to add a post to see how the new site software works (Thanks toTech and Admins for all the hard work) and to report another outing. I went to a house concert in Oxford, Oh. wearing slacks, a blue dress shirt, and black leather thigh boots with 4” stilettos. Most of the regular attendees know me and expect me to be wearing thigh boots, but this concert was on short notice and there were very few regulars there. However, no one gave my boots much more than a glance, and I chatted with folks all evening. One of the organizers of the Greater Cincinnati Performing Arts Concert series was there and he commented that he had missed seeing me at the last two concerts. The GCPAC are well attended by hundreds of people… it was kind of nice to have been missed. Anyway, I had a great time sitting in the front row and the performance (Shelley King) was great. What a great way to spend an evening… great people, great music, and nicely heeled boots. This picture has nothing to do with the outing but I wanted to see how the My Media button worked. Hmmm... Seems to include the picture Icon but the the link dosent go to the picture. Update- It dosen't go anywhere in the preview but it works great once the post has been submitted. Also wanted to try uploading an image: Hmm... When I upload the same image as an avitar, it seems to loose a little in the presentation. Thighbootguy Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 (edited) I finally made it to the cobbler for heel tips on the boots I wore in DC a few weeks ago. I walked into the shop wearing leggings, a gray T-shirt, a black leather blazer, and black leather thigh boots with 4” stilettos. I sat in the front of the store while he put the new heel tip on. It seems Saturday morning is the busiest time he has and at least half a dozen customers came and went while I was sitting there with my legs crossed. I got a couple of glances but that was it. Next I went to the Guitar Center just to play some of the good instruments. I fell in love with a Taylor 814ce but at ~$3000 it will be a little while before I get one. I got a couple of complements on my playing but a peep about my boots. Nice outing Edited April 29, 2012 by Thighbootguy I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.

Thighbootguy Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) Ah! Another "feature" of the software upgrade. The mailbox wasn't full before the change. I cleaned it out. By the way, the pink pumps are awsome. I have worn a pink suede skirt and matching suede jacket before, but those pumps are too much for me. Thighbootguy Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 I went out Sunday to the local library branch wearing a long gray sweater, black leggings, a denim miniskirt under the sweater (probably not noticeable), and black leather thigh boots with 4” stilettos. A couple of heads turned in the gang of kids outside the library but not a peep from anyone. Inside the library I was just another patron and not even an eyebrow was raised. I went to the library because I just wanted someplace to go and because I know there are folks that know a lot more about guitar playing than I do and I wanted to see what they had written down. The selection wasn’t all that great unless you were a rock player. I did pass on Rock Guitar for Dummies. I found a nice book that covered a lot of theory and am finding the reading interesting. I did stop at Goodwill that was across town and didn’t see anything of interest but I did get an “I love your boots” from one of the customers. Short but nice outing. 1 I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
JeffB Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Bravo, TBG! Sometimes, short outings can be just as enjoyable as lengthy ones, perhaps moreso! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Thighbootguy Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 Monday I attended a taping of the Woodsongs Ole Time Radio Hour. Despite its name it is a television production, as well as radio, with worldwide distribution. A friend was appearing on the program (show # 667). The taping was in Lexington, Ky. and I drove down early enough to get a good seat, which meant I had a 30 minute wait in the lobby with the other early arrivers. I wore a long sleeved blue dress shirt, black slacks (size 14) and black leather thigh boots with 4” stilettos. Parking was in a public garage about two blocks from the theater so I had a nice walk. One person made a point of ignoring me but no one else gave more than a glance. In the lobby most of folks looked me up and down then accepted me as part of the group. The early arrivers were mostly partners of the show with season tickets and all knew each other so when I showed up they knew I was a newbe. My boots were almost a secondary consideration. After I met the folks and started chatting with them, no one gave my boots a second glance. After I picked up my ticket, we queued up in the inner lobby where a folk group (banjo [frailed], guitar, two female vocalists) was playing. I was close to them and paying close attention and they did notice my boots but I was giving them very positive feedback that I think they appreciated. In the auditorium, I sat in the second row (third seat on the right) so my boots were hidden from view except for the folks seated next to me (both were partners I had met in the lobby). The performance was great. After the show airs, it will be available in the archives section of the Woodsongs page (above). After the taping, I met my friend and got a hug then headed out of the theater. As soon as I got outside, the skys opened and the heavens poured forth; I walked out into the heaviest rainstorm I have seen in a long time (6”-7”/ hr. ). I put on my baseball cap (if my glasses don’t get wet, it isn’t raining) and headed to the garage. I wound up running in 4” heels. It was an interesting feeling having every stitch of clothing soaked except for my pants legs under my boots. By the time I was heading to the expressway, the streets of Lexington were under 3” of water. I had a grant time and exposed a lot of people to the idea that a guy can wear thigh boots with heels. 3 I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
hhl4vr Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Well I finally was able to have another public outing. It was my second in public but I can really call it my first (as the first one was to a casino which was dark and loud so I felt safe) but since reading all the stories on this site finally got the courage to try again. I wore a pair of boots similiar to the ones in my avitar but were black. Till coming across this site, I have always only looked at shoes -never thought of boots. But after reading stories on this site -have become more of a fan of boots and seems to be easier for me to wear in public that shoes. So finally to the story. This past weekend I had to go to a larger city which was about 6 hours away from where I live and had to go alone, So I was able to wear my heels all the way there as I drove. I stopped for gas, went to a mall and walked it several times, went to the food court, checked into a hotel all wearing them. It was such a great feeling. It was nice because I knew that there was a very very small chance that I would run into anyone so felt safe. I never had any problems. I did see some looks down but no one said a word. But just wanted to share as if it was not for you I would never have done it. 2
Thighbootguy Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 I went to an outdoor last night wearing a short sleeved knit shirt, gray jeans, and black leather thigh boots with 4” stilettos. This is an all day long party in Oxford with thousands of people attending. I got 7:30 PM and stayed until it closed at 10:00 PM. I was there for the music. I don’t object to drinking but I have to abstain because it hits me too hard and I have a long drive home. I had to park about six blocks and downhill from the festival so it was a long walk uphill in my heels. The folks I passed didn’t seem to notice my boots, which was fine with me. The temperature was around 80F (26C) but cooled off to 65F (18C) by the time I left. I had a jacket with me but left it in the car. I did not mingle with the crowd, rather I headed for the performance area and took a seat in the front and sat there the whole time with my legs stretched out or crossed. Lots of folks walked by and several sat around me. I didn’t catch a second lance at my boots. I knew most of the musicians that were performing and they all gave me a wave as they saw me walking towards the stage to my seat. After the performances, as I was walking out of the park area, I did notice one lady give my boots a second (disapproving) look. All in all I had a great time. On a whole different subject I did find this long clip of a lady walking around in a leather skirt and thigh boots. The video has nothing overly sexy or extreme, just a nice walkabout in thigh boots. Nice walkabout: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=9U7CcDDRfyQ&NR=1] Same vein: This is another video in the same vein (except for the blue latex sequences , and not my taste in art ). http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZvJcALYEwc&feature=channel&list=UL] I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
JeffB Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 TBG: Bravo to you on another fun filled outing. You really know how to make the rounds in thigh high boots! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Thighbootguy Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 It was time to have my nails “filled in”. I have four acrylic nails on my right hand that I use as guitar picks and every couple of weeks I made a sojourn to the nail salon the have them tuned up. I did things a little differently tonight, normally I have a change of clothes in the car and change on the way home but tonight I dressed at home in black leggings, a denim micro skirt, a white satin top, and royal blue thigh boots with 5” stiletto heels. I wasn’t until I was half way to the salon that I realized that if I had any car problems, these were the only clothes I had with me. To relieve any anticipated drama, the car was fine and I had no problems. I parked at the salon and walked in and was greeted warmly by the staff. I had a half hour wait during which I chatted with some of the other folks that were waiting. At one point I noticed a jar of polish that had fallen off one of the desks and went over and knelt down on one knee and picked it up and put it back on the counter, and got a “Thank you dear” for my effort. One lady came in and almost swallowed her teeth when she say my boots. She made a point of not sitting anywhere near me. Oh well, each to their own taste. No one else seemed concerned. When my turn came the gal did a very nice job on my nails. It really is hard for them to not reshape the tips of the nails, because it’s their business to make them look good. I shape the tips of mine so they are skewed to the left so there is a smaller area contacting the string. I did have her buff the tops of the nails and she joked that they would sound better that way. After I was finished it was a short walk back to the car then home. I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.

Thighbootguy Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 Flamenco/Stacatto style? Think its now called fingerstyle playing. I post my little finger on the pick guard (no nail in that finger) and let my thumb walk the bass and the other three fingers fool around with the chord. (Sort of Chet Atkins, Meril Travis style but no where near as good.) I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.

Thighbootguy Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 Malc – Yeah, this has been quite a journey. I still remember getting my first pair of boots with 5” stilettos and wondering how in the h… and I going to walk in these, and there was no thought of wearing them out in public. Today I don’t think twice about going out wearing them at an appropriate venue. My attitude towards life has also changed. I remember the “what is somebody sees me” fears I had when I started wearing heels. They have been replaced with an attitude of confidence, and that attitude has spilled over to all my other activities, including work and guitar playing. I never dreamed when I first wore thigh boots with 5” stilettos in public that it would be a life changing event, but it has been, and a positive one at that. Thighbootguy Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 (edited) Yesterday I ventured to a local hardware store. It was hot (90F, 32C) and I was wearing a gray T-shirt, a tan short skort, and since it was only one day till Memorial Day I wore my white thigh boots with 5” stilettos. To avoid further comments, yes it was too hot to be running around in thigh boots, but the car was air conditioned as was the store so the only warm part was the walk to and from the store. The issue was not that they were uncomfortable, rather that I perspire heavily, and that can ruin a pair of boots. Leggings or jeans normally provide some protection for them but today all I was wearing was the skort. Anyway in the store the clerks greeted me as “sir” and offered to kelp me find stuff. I declined the offer and proceeded to wander around the store and, for one of the first times, noticed my heels clicking on the floor. There were a few other customers in the store but no one paid me any attention. I got my stuff and rang out at the register and headed back to my car. One of the items was an 8’ florescent light tube, which required some carefully handling as I put into the car. There was a lady and her husband getting out of a car nearby and after I got the tube into the car, I realized that I had completed one of her lifelong ambitions when she said “Now I’ve seen everything.” I didn’t think getting theat tube into the car was that big a deal. JeffB and Roniheels – Thanks for the kind words but believe me, when I started I had no thought of being a thigh boot or confidence evangelist or anybodies inspiration. Thighbootguy Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) Did you not Recognize our own Pata? Who by the way we have not heard from in a while. Alas, I did not. Consider me properly chastened. Since I had my white boots out I made a couple of shopping trips. Yesterday I went to Sam’s wearing black leggings, a red long sleeved stretch top, a black leather skirt with the hem about 2” above my boots, and my white leather thigh boots with 5” stilettos. The trip was a quick in and out of the store but I did stop at the liquor shop for a couple bottles of wine. I know, if I’m buying wine at Sam’s, I’m not a wine coinsurer but with my sense of taste (or lack thereof), fine wine is wasted on me. The next stop was the Guitar Center where I had a good time chatting with the luther about a repair he is doing on my 12 string guitar, and wandering back into the good instrument show room and playing a Taylor 814. I chatted with another guitar player (who didn’t really know what to make of me but gave up worrying when we started to talk guitars). Both stops were uneventful as both establishments expect me to be wearing thigh boots. Today I ventured out again with a similar outfit (substitute blue long sleeved stretch top for the red one). I went to the electronics repair shop that is working on a Fender Bassman amp that I had forgotten I owned (sat in a closet for 20 years). It wasn’t finished and I knew that but stopping by to get a status report is better then a phone call. The next stop was a Kroger’s (large grocery store) I had never been in before. No one paid much attention but they did notice. On the way out one of the clerks said, “Nice outfit” and gave me a serious smile. I thanked her and headed out to my car. I stopped at a second Kroger’s (the first one didn’t have one item I wanted) and got a similar cordial reaction. The last stop was at a self service gas station. No one seemed bothered by a guy in a leather skirt and thigh boots. I kind of wonder how I’d react if I saw someone dressed that way… Edited May 31, 2012 by Thighbootguy I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
