New pair of boots starts me serious street heeling.

The right shoe makes all the difference in the world when it c omes to going out. The link did not work but if that is them above, that would not be my first choice for a first timer. Althought I am quite jealous at having HER taking your boots off. Our se cretary has seen mine clear as day but has not said anything. I think it would be fun to have someone else to talk to about my heels. I will have to update my page on heels for the first time. Perhaps give you some more choices for shoes to wear out. I go to home depot all the time in heels. Load plywood, lumber, you name it. I figure if I want to live live in heels, I have to "suffer" through doing hard stuff. When my wife moved her store I had to do some work in it. Put up sheetrock, flooring, painting. All in heels. Including trips to lowes. Let me tell ya. There were a few nights I was glad to take them off. 2 of my favorite things to do, put on heels and take them off at the end of the day.

Shafted, Good luck on the interview. Your outfit sounds great. Put your best foot forward (or both of them if it's a tie) and let us know what the interviewer thought or said, or if you saw any iDrops (eye drops) to your shoes. Oh, and don't forget to discuss digital projection! LOL Steve

If was fun we all had a good time. She asked me if I'd even been interviewed before to which I had online, but not face to face, for ABC Nightline. Well one thing led to another and I dropped the forum URL on her and she plans to check it out. If she ever wants another story she knows. To be honest I have so many irons in the fire that I've been interviewed probably more than most on a variety of different subjects. I guess I'm just always doing things that interest people. Her photographer took lots and lots of picks, none of my stiletto boots I don't think. I'll post the article for your viewing pleasure if I can. I'm a bit surprised that my potential outing to my family didn't perk up a few ears. It is my final hurdle to complete fashion freedom to the level I wish to take it. It would be for me total acceptance. What better way to do it than mainstream media. I would be forced to confront my parents a head of time about the issue, while wearing my conservative 2 inch Cuban boots. Everyone knows, except them. I planned for this day and I feel very much in control of the situation although I didn't say it was going to easy.

It did perk up my ears, but I didn't reply because I really didn't know what to say. I had the opposite experience, in that my parents were the very first people to see me in heels. Their reaction was not too positive, but they've just gotten used to it over the last few months. My mom even helps me hem my pants with certain heels in mind if I need it. I hope your "outing" goes as smoothly.

Edited because I failed to proofread before I clicked the "reply" button. When will I learn?

My philosophy was to win the world first, that it would give me edge when dealing with my very conservative parents.

Shafted, Good luck with the folks. The first time my Dad saw me in heels I was wearing kneeboots with a 4" block type heel. His only comment was, Wow, look st those heels! Be carefull you don't break an ankle! That was it. Of course he never saw me in thin stilettos as he passed away shortly after. My mom had Alzheimers and wouldn't know what she was looking at. She has also since passed away. This was about 7 years or so ago. They were very conservative also. So, hope yours goes smoothly! PS, years before I had gottem myself a tongue stud and that was a major topic/deal with them, along with my wife. Plenty of grief over that! It's long since gone.

Shafted, good you had the courage to tell your family about your fashion choices. You probably feel more at ease around them now. My family hates my heels and 24-7 runway strutting fashion. They can't even bring themselves to call my shoes high heels, they call them clodhoppers. I can't tell my mom that I'm stuck in the wrong gender, she has had a lifetime of serious illnesses and can't do anything physically for herself anymore. If would kill her if she didn't have a son anymore, but a daughter. So I just try to live my life to the fullest I can. When they saw your heels, what did they say. My mom said my boots look silly. I said: what do you expect, they are designer boots, they're not supposed to look normal!

Yes, was extreme for me and I kept it for about 2 years and the grief/comments just didn't stop so away it went. At least it wasn't permanent like a tattoo! Nobody could really see it if I didn't want them to except my dentist who also had some comments. Just a phase I went through. With heels anybody can have a look but no grief or negative comments so far, except for my wife!

Well here's the article gang enjoy. And no my job is not at stake, but I will have fewer hours. http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/digital-film-a-change-of-scene_2013-02-02.html

Very interesting! As the formats change if we don't keep up we will be gone. I still love the soft sound of tube amps over solid state and vinyl records over CD's and now MP3's but I am an old fart! So with the new digital format the films will not degrade and I think that's a good thing. Good luck with the upgrades and it would be nice if you didn't have your hours cut. This is where less is not good. I like local theaters along with local shopping. I am not a fan of large multiplex theaters. Unfortunatley the small theater in our town closed and was turned into a restaurant. Thanks, Jim

Yes, most interesting indeed. That article certainly did make for good reading, Shafted. Still, having one's work hours cut in this shaky economy can't be a good thing. Sadly, in this era of multiplexes, small theaters are archaic these days as they've been turned into churches, concert venues, playhouses for small theater companies or simply torn down. Good luck to you, my friend.

I love the older smaller theaters and analog sound. I have one ' digital ' amp and somewhere around 15 Tube ( A/B types ). That theater is amazing! Small, clean, maintained.. I dont go to modern theaters anymore as I just dont like them. I wait for netflix or something to come out or I just dont bother. There arent many movies that interest me as of late. I dig the sweater in the one pic. I like extra-long sleeves. Be well! -Ilk

Hey guys here is a link to a wikipedia article.

http://en.wikipedia..../Digital_cinema

It's the ugly truth about digital cinema. Most of what I already knew is in there. Much of the Sentinel article contradicts this article. It comes right out and calls 35mm a superior technology. It also shows a massive preservation cost for digital.

I may or may not loose hours because our 4 person staff will have to be reduced to 3, so I actually may pick up extra nights.

Thanks for the sweater comment ILK. I was a Christmas present from my mom and dad. They know I like oversize sweaters (but not heels and skinny jeans).

The print version of the article blew me away. It was front page local news. It took up more than half the front page of the local news with a substantial amount on the next page. I really didn't expect this. I figured it would be in the entertainment and lifestyle section.

This morning at church people kind of caught me by surprise and recognized me in the paper.

Hey Shafted, It was a very interesting article and a great picture of you. I am glad that you still have hours but I really hope that you are able to maintain your lifestyle doing the kind of work that you enjoy doing. Notes that you have made in the past about doing more of what you love for work have been inspiring. Best, Larry

I bought a pair of sharp looking skinny jeans at Penney's on Saturday. Tried the on back home and they look awesome, especially with knee high boots. Can't wait to take them out for a spin on a future jaunt!

This morning at breakfast, coffee and WiFi at McDonald's I got quite a bit of recognition from the regulars for the article. They kept accusing me of being famous, heels and all. It was a real test of one's humility.,

Wow, I thinks it's time for an update. Well first off the conversion to digital is complete at the theatre. We have a new 3 chip Christie 2K machine (2048x1080 pixels), My opinion of the image quality is that the image is very sharp overall without the dust which often plagues film. However the image lacks some detail. It's no where near as horrific as 1080P HD TV (I find people tend to look like they are made of plastic on HD TV). Despite the limited resolution the movie files are very low compression judging by the file size. Snitch was more than 150GB (our first digital movie). For those audio nuts like myself, the Dolby digital sound processor drives 4 of the 6 Crown amplifier channels (3 stereo amps with expansion for surround channels). Those in turn drive the 4 JBL theatre speakers behind the screen (3 speakers and 1 subwoofer). Each of the speakers consist of a woofer enclosure with a very large tweeter (dynamic horn type) on top. Each woofer enclosure consists of two 15 inch woofers in a ported enclosure. If not completely impressed with the picture, I was impressed with the sound. It's very in your face. On another note, I've noticed that I've received some sideways glances at McDonald's in the morning. Caught one guy stealing multiple glaces at my stiletto boots. He was having one of those reboot moments for sure. I should probably mention that during the transition to digital and the training received from the vendor, I was wearing stiletto boots and skinny jeans the whole time.

Crown? Are they FET type or full digital?

I was impressed with the sound. It's very in your face.

Its definetly more crisp then A/B rectifier type power amps, but it often lacks the true warmth of signal. My audio setup for listening is a hybrid of both.

What did their trainer think? He wasnt curious? No questions?

Looks like I'll have to dig up more equipment info for those inquiring minds. Nope, they guy training us didn't let on if he found it odd or not. Not a peep.

Tonight at the theatre we had one customer, a gorgeous blonde wearing black leggings a black lace top and gray suede stiletto pumps came in with her boyfriend. It appears we were both looking at each other taking visual notes. You know that she was a looker when the married guy I worked with couldn't help but asked me if I noticed her. He accused me of not seeing the same thing he did, but I assured him I saw that and so much more.
