newheeler Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Good find! We just need to spread similar articles to outsiders now. Don't worry, be happy - in heels!
ilikekicks Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 You should get a medal for finding that article Shafted! Its all just ' common sense '. REPEATEDLY ARGUMENTATIVE, INSULTING AND RUDE. BANNED FOR LIFE.
TOWI Boots Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Great article - really well presented. But - I still really dislike the term 'cross dresser', it suggests (to me) its odd, not normal etc... To me wearing boots is just a fashion choice, I do not want to be a woman, look like a woman etc....., I just really enjoy wearing boots that society deems to be 'womans' shoes - I dont need or want a tag - especially one that conjurs up images of a the stereotypical sequine dressed man stomping around a stage! Just my view - but again, great article.
Shafted Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 But - I still really dislike the term 'cross dresser', it suggests (to me) its odd, not normal etc... . Again just a word, a label. it should be pointed out that the author's use of the word was in no way disrespectful, simply as matter of fact and she did not use the word in reference to men in heels. Noted, you are quite right. I was certainly not moaning about the article - its very fair and balanced. My point - probably badly made was a general dislike for that term!
Steve63130 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I left a reply and dropped a couple of web site URLs, including HH Place. Nice article and good comments so far. Steve63130

HappyinHeels Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 All, It is a thoughtful and informative article indeed. I also left a comment and hope she goes on to publish more on this topic. She is precisely the type of ally we all need to help our community. It's one thing to have supportive spouses, and friends, etc. but it quite another to have understanding people in the media. This is no different than a time when gays needed people to come to their defense or when black Americans needed someone to step up when told to "go to the back of the bus". Discrimination, in any form, should not be tolerated no matter where it rears its ugly head. This is the sound of liberty that beats in the chest of all free people. HappyinHeels

yozz Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 A nice article to read. Very balanced. I did have some second thoughts though with all the "buy" buttons. Y. Raise your voice. Put on some heels.
heels59 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Good article, but the buy likes to Amazon, really highlighted a big problem. None of those awesome shoes are available in the US women's 12W or 13 I need.

Steve63130 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Good article in general, but the statement is made that gay men like to wear heels. I don't think there's any evidence to support that statement. It's a common misconception. Steve

It's a common misconception. Steve Indeed it is, i think until the media starts to have different opinion about this kind of fashion there will always be misconcetions. Don't worry, be happy - in heels!
yozz Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 The problem is that there is a subcategory of gays that like to wear heels: The ones that dress up like women and then try to pick up men. In Madrid there is an area that is famous for them. After a while everybody knows about this. The normal gays do not behave like this of course just like the vast majority of women is not a prostitute. But in some cultures all women who do not wear a veil must be prostitutes. Same reasoning? Y. Raise your voice. Put on some heels.
