Have You Seen Any Guys Street-heeling? (Survey)

Sorry, guys, We are just in the middle of a terrible presidential election here, where all the highest qualified candidates are long gone. breath deeply now.... OK all is better, plus I'm in my heels today going to work, stop at the convenience store for gas, a soft drink and paper, as usual no one give a notice or comment in my somewhat long jeans and 5" oxfords. But after a short conversation about baseball season starting with the cashier, I turn to leave and open the door for and incredibly stunning black woman, in what could be called a "men's wear suit" black, pin stripe, though tailored in a way than no (or at least most) men could wear and accentuated with a plain slightly white deep cut blouse. Nice 5 inch heels in an oxford style, though these had a slight "hidden" platform in the front. Made my day!

firefox... Shame on you - in the political continuum here in the US you have the religious right, that may contain the bible belt - which pretty much is North of Texas and south of Minnesota. They can be democrats or republicans. Also in the republican party you have Reagan conservatives - Wanting less government in all forms, and libertarians that want even less government. Then there is the McCain/Bush end of the Republican party that still think Government offers the best solutions for the people. Democrats also have various shades start near the McCain/Bush moderates and moving toward the socialist agendas of Obama/Kennedy.

I'm a very conservative - almost libertarian Republican. My Credo: Let me live my life respecting the rights others and others should do the same toward me. If I am successful, don't penalize me by taking away the rewards of my efforts. If I am religious, I will let it be shown by the way I live my life, not by my forcing it upon you and certainly I'll oppose efforts to have government force religion upon me. If you threaten my family's life, my life or the property I own, I reserve the right to protect it my any means available - whether "you" are and individual or a representative of government. I will however respect the laws of of government, and make a steadfast effort to lobby government to change the laws I do not agree with, recognizing there are God given rights to any man or woman: life, free will, and liberty that should not be taken away unless that man or woman has exercised those rights away from others.

Oh, BTW. never seen any other guy in womens heels 'cept at Copenhagen heel meet.

Amen brother, you took the words right out of my mouth, did not intend to start a fire storm all I was wondering since more and more are wearing their heels in public and society really does not notice if the trend was catching on maybe others were being seen out heeling. Firefox if the trend is more common now in England maybe it will soon cross the pond to over here.

I wouldn't say it's common in England. It's still something of a rarity but it does happen. The problem is that shops don't sell heels in the mens section. You have to get them from the women's section. Unfortunately the majority of the size 39-41 size male population is unable to think for themselves. They don't go by the motto of "if the shoe fits, wear it". They go by the motto of "I can't wear it because it's not marketed for me". Most people are just like sheep; sad but true.

I was out today in my thong sandals with a 2 1/2 inch heel. Went to the bank, post office and ran other errands. Fortunately the warmer weather allowed for sandals. Nobody seemed to notice either - and I still did not see any other guys out in heels. bummer... sf...

"Why should girls have all the fun!!"

magickman, have the confidence to go out... boldly, dont keep looking at your heels, be confident !! People notice me, but never any dodgy comments. Remember, people look at emos, hippies, chavs, anyone with a striking haircut..... because they are different - not necessarily negatively ! I'm sure many of them think "if only i had the guts to do the same". It's called being yourself; you cant please all the people so dont try ! Remember us hippies calling ordinary people straights....

oh, so true firefox,so true:penitent: I've said this for years myself about people (men in this case) being JUST like sheep, unable to question, to feel, to BE different from the rest of society what you say about fashions/styles being marketed for him/her is really ludicris as for me (& I'm guessing for you as well) I pay NO attention to that kind of "label" as to gender assignment-I mean to say if you look @ EVERYTHING sold in stores & I dont care if its shaving blades to boots for gods sake theres this constant labeing of him/her for the very same object some times, ie. DIFFERENT colors perhaps & it HAS to be for either HIM or for HER!!? give me a break, will you!!??;)

Which brings me to start a new thread in the discussion section.

real men wear heels

Neither have I and it's quite disapointing. We are told that this is a growing trend yet on the ground there's very little evidence.

So what's all the fuss about?

Spotted: At King's Cross tube station, Morning of February 23rd (Saturday), one very tall gent wearing 4 inch heel brown knee-high boots over blue jeans. He wondered through station a few times. Hardly anyone noticed as it was very busy and most people were focussed on where they were going.

I have seen over the years only two men in public both crossdressing with no intention to pass and 3 times I have seen men trying on heels as I was shopping for heels.

Posted

Sadly, the only times I've seen them is on the internet, or looking down at my own feet and/or in a mirror. I'd love to meet up with anyone else from around here if it only doubled the visions of seeing guys in some nice heels.

SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!

Maybe someday you will arrive to Poland. If yes, you can write to me ;) .

If you were in Oxford Street or Charing Cross Road during the afternoon of Saturday 3rd March, you might have seen me walking around in 4" heels. Rather well hidden I have to admit, but I was definitely walking like I had heels on.

I also tried some courts/pumps on in M+S, and some ankle boots in Debenhams. Full story tomorrow. ;)

Sounds like Xaphod!

Wit the best sentiments in the world, I don't think anyone would describe Xaphod as very tall, but otherwise the description fits (It wasn't me either ;) )

Ohio is becoming pretty much free thinking. Have yet to see another guy in heels, but people look at me like it's perfectly normal 99% of the time.

I would second that. Similarly, I've been around Chicago, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and both coasts in the US - same story. Never seen any other guy in heels, but never an unkind remark either, though I expect it will eventually happen, just by the odds alone.

Usually, a smile, a raised eyebrow or, most often, nothing - which is the way I prefer it.

Excellent question asked.

I saw a guy in heels at the Bryant Park Tents for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week on Feb. 7th, 2008.

He walked right down the stairs where all the paparazzi where standing, where all the spectators from outside the fashion industry were gawking and celeb hunting, and where I was standing, alert to the opportunity to take a picture of him.

Pretty impressive. He certainly looked like he was having a good time. And those boots looked sharp too! Heh!

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

As I have stated in some previous postings, I have not seen any other men in public waring (feminine) high heels. I have seen some men wear boots with maybe two or three inch stacked heels or cowboy boots with as high as three inch heels. I wear pumps or open-toe slingbacks with spike heels. So to you guys who have an urge to heel in public, come on out and say Hi! Believe me, you are welcome.;)

Although I prefer living in rural areas, I'd feel much more comfortable wearing heels walking down a city high street. In fact I reckon that's the first place I'd try it.

Ron: I used to have a pair of men's western boots, that had a high (for a guy) 3" stacked heel, that had a taper to it. I asked, when I bought the boots, why the taper, and was told that the heel is better suited for digging into the dirt (think cowboys, here). They looked great, but were very difficult to walk in.

Heelfan: A good post, but as I read thru it from the beginning, it sounds like, with the exception of NYC in the US, it's very rare outside of a publicized heel-meet, which matches what I and others have noticed throughout the rest of the US. Not saying it never happens; I've been all over the Midwest, just very rare on the sightings. Sightings appear to be much more prevalent in the UK, judging by the responses you're getting. Am I wrong, or are not enough others responding? Dan

I tried to right click to save the image, but it comes up as some type of "spaceball" image. Maybe some computer savvy genius here knows how to override that?

Kneehighs,

It is attached. You gotta look in your temporary internet files folder.

HERE is a photo of a guy wearing stilettos as self posted on his flickr account.

Hi Kneehighs.

Do a screen grab. On a PC you can press Print Screen and then immediately paste the grab into a program like photoshop and crop the image. On a mac you can use Preview or a free program Called Capture Me.

Dan I have 3 pair of cowboy boots 2 with 3" tapered heels and 1 pair with 3.5" tapered riding heel. I find it easier to walk in my 4" stiletto pumps than the boots.

Also Last night the wife and I were at LOWES to pickup some things (remolding kichen cabnets) and as we walked down this asle a young man maybe in his mid twenties is walking towards us and I notice he is wearing ladies boots with his pants tucked in the boots had probably a 14" top and a 2.5 to 3" stacked heel. He walked right past my wife and she did not even notice I stopped acted like I was looking at some thing on a counter and watched him he went to the design center talked to 2 employees then left to another part of the store, I watched the emplooyees and no reaction at all. I am standing there thinking damn I could of been wearing my heels instead of my roper boots(flat heel I hate them but use them for dirty work). I finally saw a guy in heels ;)

It does seem to be something of a mystery why public sightings of men in heels are so very rare, out here in the midwestern hinterlands. I have never seen any, nor has anyone who I know. Where are they? I'm not sure why it is so rare, especially since I am frequently approached by women who compliment my boots. High heel boots on a man are a chick magnet. It works time after time. My critics tell me that the women may like the boots, but are uninterested in me, or that the complimentary women don't really mean it, and are merely being sarcastic. I think that the women like the look, and that they are intrigued by the man in heels.

Just bringing this thread up to the top because someone's just started an identical thread without bothering to check that this one had already been started by me sometime ago. Cheers, Heelfan

He's not exactly wearing them - just posing for a photo for a 'gag'.

He's actually wearing sneakers but has wedged them inside a pair of strappy shoes. If he wore that on the street, he'd deservedly get pointed at!

I was waiting for the tube at Tottenham Court Road today (09.30 ish) and heard the unique sound of steel heels on marble. I was looking and looking, then realised it was the guy almost next to me. He was wearing a fleece jacket and long jeans but you could see his black patent Oxfords peeking out. As he boarded he lifted his foot to reveal, I would say 3 - 4" heels with maybe a 1/2" platform. They were lovely, no-one batted an eye lid. Didn't have the courage to speak to him, plus he may not have welcomed the attention.

Wow, I can't believe all of the sightings everyone has shared. The only guys I've seen street heeling were wearing the thick, block, platform shoe with about a 3 or 4 inch heel waiting to go into a club. I do see more guys with cowboy boots with very high heels on them. I have not seen any, that I can remember, guys wearing wearing stiletto high heels in public. That's just about all I wear in public. I bought a pair of black patent leather slingbacks with a 5 inch wooden stacked heels today. I'm off work Friday, so I'm going out-about-the-town in them. I'll keep on the look out.;)
