Have You Seen Any Guys Street-heeling? (Survey)

I saw a guy in heels at the Bryant Park Tents for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week on Feb. 7th, 2008.

He walked right down the stairs where all the paparazzi where standing, where all the spectators from outside the fashion industry were gawking and celeb hunting, and where I was standing, alert to the opportunity to take a picture of him.

Pretty impressive. He certainly looked like he was having a good time. And those boots looked sharp too! Heh!

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

As I have stated in some previous postings, I have not seen any other men in public waring (feminine) high heels. I have seen some men wear boots with maybe two or three inch stacked heels or cowboy boots with as high as three inch heels. I wear pumps or open-toe slingbacks with spike heels. So to you guys who have an urge to heel in public, come on out and say Hi! Believe me, you are welcome.;)

Ron: I used to have a pair of men's western boots, that had a high (for a guy) 3" stacked heel, that had a taper to it. I asked, when I bought the boots, why the taper, and was told that the heel is better suited for digging into the dirt (think cowboys, here). They looked great, but were very difficult to walk in.

Heelfan: A good post, but as I read thru it from the beginning, it sounds like, with the exception of NYC in the US, it's very rare outside of a publicized heel-meet, which matches what I and others have noticed throughout the rest of the US. Not saying it never happens; I've been all over the Midwest, just very rare on the sightings. Sightings appear to be much more prevalent in the UK, judging by the responses you're getting. Am I wrong, or are not enough others responding? Dan

HERE is a photo of a guy wearing stilettos as self posted on his flickr account.

I tried to right click to save the image, but it comes up as some type of "spaceball" image. Maybe some computer savvy genius here knows how to override that?

Kneehighs,

It is attached. You gotta look in your temporary internet files folder.

Hi Kneehighs.

Do a screen grab. On a PC you can press Print Screen and then immediately paste the grab into a program like photoshop and crop the image. On a mac you can use Preview or a free program Called Capture Me.

Ben

Dan I have 3 pair of cowboy boots 2 with 3" tapered heels and 1 pair with 3.5" tapered riding heel. I find it easier to walk in my 4" stiletto pumps than the boots.

Also Last night the wife and I were at LOWES to pickup some things (remolding kichen cabnets) and as we walked down this asle a young man maybe in his mid twenties is walking towards us and I notice he is wearing ladies boots with his pants tucked in the boots had probably a 14" top and a 2.5 to 3" stacked heel. He walked right past my wife and she did not even notice I stopped acted like I was looking at some thing on a counter and watched him he went to the design center talked to 2 employees then left to another part of the store, I watched the emplooyees and no reaction at all. I am standing there thinking damn I could of been wearing my heels instead of my roper boots(flat heel I hate them but use them for dirty work). I finally saw a guy in heels ;)

It does seem to be something of a mystery why public sightings of men in heels are so very rare, out here in the midwestern hinterlands. I have never seen any, nor has anyone who I know. Where are they? I'm not sure why it is so rare, especially since I am frequently approached by women who compliment my boots. High heel boots on a man are a chick magnet. It works time after time. My critics tell me that the women may like the boots, but are uninterested in me, or that the complimentary women don't really mean it, and are merely being sarcastic. I think that the women like the look, and that they are intrigued by the man in heels.

Just bringing this thread up to the top because someone's just started an identical thread without bothering to check that this one had already been started by me sometime ago. Cheers, Heelfan

He's not exactly wearing them - just posing for a photo for a 'gag'.

He's actually wearing sneakers but has wedged them inside a pair of strappy shoes. If he wore that on the street, he'd deservedly get pointed at!

Actually, if you check other pictures he has commented on, he is SERIOUS about wearing high heels. Take this picture as an example. The girl is wearing an androgynous outfit with stiletto boots and his reply, for everyone to see, was "I like this because I could/would wear it. And that includes the shoes ;) "

You do have a point about his shoes not being 100% bona fide heels, but the message that he wants to wear high heels arguably still stands. The sneakers are an attempt to recreate a high end runway shoe, albeit not a very good one.

I was waiting for the tube at Tottenham Court Road today (09.30 ish) and heard the unique sound of steel heels on marble. I was looking and looking, then realised it was the guy almost next to me. He was wearing a fleece jacket and long jeans but you could see his black patent Oxfords peeking out. As he boarded he lifted his foot to reveal, I would say 3 - 4" heels with maybe a 1/2" platform. They were lovely, no-one batted an eye lid. Didn't have the courage to speak to him, plus he may not have welcomed the attention.

Wow, I can't believe all of the sightings everyone has shared. The only guys I've seen street heeling were wearing the thick, block, platform shoe with about a 3 or 4 inch heel waiting to go into a club. I do see more guys with cowboy boots with very high heels on them. I have not seen any, that I can remember, guys wearing wearing stiletto high heels in public. That's just about all I wear in public. I bought a pair of black patent leather slingbacks with a 5 inch wooden stacked heels today. I'm off work Friday, so I'm going out-about-the-town in them. I'll keep on the look out.;)

If you were (very) quick, you may have seen me walking around Luton Arndale this afternoon, around 3.45pm.

The walk was quite short, and went off without a hitch. Unusually, I wasn't escorted either. I think my skin tone was damson for the 10 minutes of my little walk, and you could have struck a match on my tongue, my mouth was so dry.

These Nine West wedges, are wonderful ;)

Yeaterday at Wal-mart, I saw a young man in the parking lot, maybe mid to late 20's, with thick, (dyed) strawbeey blond hair, very muscular, some tatoos, and his gait was one of "don''t get in my way, don't mess with me!" I looked down at his feet and he was wearing boots with a semi-pointed toe and at least 3, maybe 4 inch stacked heel. They looked like women's boots, but it was hard to tell. I walked up to him and said, "nice boots." He gave a curious look and said thanks. Then, not moments later in the store, I saw a man about my age wearing a pair of snake skin cowboy boots with a very high cowboy heel. I walked up to him and said, "I like your boots, man." He smiled and said very cheerfully, "thank you, man." Two guys publicly heeling, different ages, and definitely different attitudes.;)

I saw one again. This time in the San Francisco airport. He was wearing 3" cuban heels with skinny jeans and a fitted jacket. Quite nice look. But nothing like the two stylish women he was with. One of them was as beautiful as I ever saw: long dark hair with highlighted strands and stiletto boots. The other one wearing boots with a stacked block heels. Made my day. I wish I had my camera on me.

Spotted on Facebook... Presumably from the Greater London Area at a Sony Rolly meeting in London... Adam A La Follie wearing transparent, round toe high heel wedges... At least at face value that's how it appears...

Some guy from Sweden going for a modern/retro 70's look with an overly long blazer, high waisted flare leg pants, clutch, and you guessed it, high heels.

saw one just tonight while driving in downtown Vancouver. Guy in his mid-20s wearing what seems to be work clothes, until the streetlights revealed his black 3-4" patent pumps. He was walking rather normally like anyone down a street; he seems to have just gotten off work as well!

Some how I reckon the Swedish guy would so much better in less garish heels - like more slender block heels or stillettos. Still he looks good though.

Adam rocks! That outfit really suits him.

Today, in the Mulberry store on New Bond Street, London. One of the male sales assistants was wearing 2 to 3 inch block heels with skinny jeans. The heel was very visible to all. I couldn't make out the colour as the lighting was low but it was well co-ordinated. He looked good and was very courteous at the door as we left the store.

Last year in Munich city centre, I was out shopping with my wife and noticed a guy wearing what looked like 3-4 inch stilettos that poked out from under his jeans. I doubt anybody else noticed because he walked so casually. He walked into ... a shoeshop!
