  1. 1. Guys Only! - Where do you fall with respect to the heels you wear most often in public?

    • Definately subdued - As a guy, I don't like to advertise the fact I'm wearing heels.
    • Moderate - I'm a guy, but it doesn't bother me one way or another if people know I'm wearing heels.
    • Shout it out loud! Even though I'm a guy, I want everyone around me to know that I'm wearing heels!

I have to be subdued because I live in redneck country. I have been known to wear short heels inside of my men's pack boots. If you don't know what pack boots are, you do not live in snow country.

Funny you should mention that... The first time I wore my Franco Sarto boots (left) in public was laced into my hiking boots! I took the insoles out and they fit very well due to the high angle pulling the instep back from the tongue. A long pair of pants and I was heeling incognito...

It took a few more months before I had the nerve to wear then with the black pants you see in the picture, and then only to the dimmest area, the darkest club, with a reputation for openly welcoming alternative x-styles.

(x is a variable; substitute any of the following: clothing, life...)

Any more I've no problem wearing then to the malls in the middle of the day, or to the "mom and pop" casinos, like "Excalibur."

And neither do the casinos!

Genebujold:-) I didn't wear my heeled boots inside any other boots when I first started heeling. I just put them under long pants and bravely went to the stores and to the mall and went about our daily chores. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Like buying charcoal, replacement bulbs for the car headlights, a new drill bit, and OMGAWA, the new microfine belt sander from Brand X!!!

Just joshing you, Dawn HH - Home Depot is one of my favorite stores. Given what I've seen there over the last three years, I'm very surprised more construction workers and contractors aren't on this site...

Genebujold:-) Tee-Hee!!! A little friendly joshing is good for the soul. I've joshed you a few times in the past also. Mickey68 and I have shopped quite a few times in Home Depot ourselves. Cheers--- Dawn HH

For evening wear and social events, I wear 4"-5" heels and let them show. Make no effort to hide or disguise my heelboots. Clickety-click, clickety-click. Chunkier heels of about 4" for general use and daytime wear. No effort to go incognito.

Well I bought a couple of pairs of jeans 2 inches shorter (25mm for you metric types) than normal so that when I wear heels they can be seen, I think jeans and heeled boots look great.

Boy this was a hard one! If I was nowhere near home or work, then I do not care at all (see the thread about the airport, etc.). However, if I was possibly going to encounter someone I know, then extremely subdued would be the answer. So, the vote for "moderate" split the difference.

It's all about the heel!

Sorry, but two inches is more like 50 mm actually 50.8!

Vector I expect you are 100% correct, sorry but I was bought up on imperial, my school days were imperial, and I always will be, still convert money to pounds shillings and pence, can't give it up like heels.

I voted shout it out. A lot of my heels are louder than my wife's when on hard floors in stores. If I happen to see someone trying to catch a glimps, I slow down and raise my heel a little higher so they can see who the real man in heels is.

real men wear heels

I voted shout it out. The more I wear high heels in public and the different places, the more I feel like an ambasador for men wearing high heels in public and being absolutely comfortable doing so.

I voted moderate but maybe I should voted "Shout it out loud"!!!!. I started to go out an live on heels one month ago and is a fantastic "way of life". The more I wear high heels in public and the different places, the more I love to walk on them and show them and I am feeling more and more comfortable. Day after day, I am not worried about the people surrounding me, that they see me walking on high heels and being absolutely comfortable doing so. I love to walk on heels in public more everyday!!! Roniheels, I feel like you, as a pioner working for our future and because other men will wear high heels in public very soon.

Subdued to Moderate fits my street heeling style. Wear classic clogs, cowboy boots, classic Frye/biker style boots and the Brutina heeled dress boots linked below. All these styles are available in men's or women's sizes and have 2.5 to 3.5 inch heels. Brighter colors can make the men's stuff more fem and darker colors make the women's stuff more manly.

I like all those styles a lot on both men and women, combined with jeans.

All the styles, or very similar, are available as either men's or women's.

Most folks don't notice, unless bright colors, and the bigger heels combined with often thicker soles or even a little platform feel great for everyday street wear.

I voted moderate, but when I am wearing in an area that I could meet people I know, I am subdued. But I am just getting to moderate away from home areas, then I am less concerned. I recently wore a pair of 4" heeled Hilfiger boots at the Grand Canyon, got some negative reactions from the GF. That was new. I now have to sort that one out before going out again. Its experience all round though. I am aiming for stars to shout it out however it could take a bunch more launches before the atmosphere is reached. Mtnsofheels

I say subdued because there is a little mystery there.. Kind of make people wonder... Those that would notice anyway..... I also like the subdued look on women.. The long boot-cut jeans with a tiny bit of heel showing just leaves more to the imagination..

Never frown because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.

Thank you, my6heels. We share the same sentiments. And it is members such as yourself and others here who have inspired me to continue wearing high heels inpublic, enjoying every minute of it, and hoping to be noticed for this trend to catch on and grow.

The more men that are seen wearing heels in public on a daily basis, the more that this trend will catch on and the quicker that we can educate the public that for men to wear heels every day is the normal thing to do. Cheers--- Dawn HH

I voted to "shout it out loud," but then again that should come as no surprise to anybody who has read my postings. I do admit that I have not always been that way when it has come to heeling, but I have learned that heels on a man attract attention even when they are more "discreet" styles. Of course I learned this only through years of experimentation and trials. The trick is to do what you are comfortable with. I happen to like more flashy styles and bold colors, so that's what I often choose to wear, especially if discreet styles attract attention as well.

I echo Dawn_HH's sentiment that the only way heels for men will catch on is if more men are seen wearing them. But one caveat, the wearer has to be confident and natural wearing them and we all reach that point in different ways. I learned a lot from Johnieheel at the NE Ohio Heel Meet last fall. His style is natural, confident and outgoing. Since then, I have been more confident and plan becoming more so. After all, they are just shoes, albeit fun and sexy shoes!

Style is built from the ground up!

very interesting points of view and choices. I voted subdued becasu i still dont dare to go out in heels in real public, BUT let me say something here that may be confusing, I could perceive that many can understand as a high heel from a 5inch styletto or needle heel boot, to a pair of 1.2inch mens shoe or boot, or even a 2inch mens boot such as the giorgio brutini shown earlier. I wear my normal mens shoes with a 1.75inch high always, they are modified, for many reasons, 1, becasue i like the "high heel" of course and second the shoe will last more and wont damage the perimeter of the actual heel which normally is made by wooden material, so if i need to replace the heel cover is easy and fast. With mens shoes with up to 2inch heel, sorry thats not heeling out in public, is only normal, and many men has even all their shoes in 2inch heel modification to gain height such as Tom Cruise. If that is heeling then im the louder one, but frankly, is not heeling again, I think that the guys like johnieheel and other that go out in huge real women shoes, heeling without a problem are real pioners of the heeling fashion that is gonna come, hopefully soon. I didnt wanted to be long in this one but the following experience is also very linked to this fantastic thread: I always like to wear high heels, and in order to have the best results and best experiences when wearing my shoes i needed to do many things, such as experiencing and discovering the fantastic invention of the nylons and stockings, then because i believe that trying the heels in public in a man mode is really catching the eye and i cannot psicologiacally afford to show my self as a man that puts on women shoes and people to judge other things that are not true just by ignorance (it really sound stupid right? but sadly is true, still ) so the only better way to try to wear them in public is INCOGNITO not by hiding them under my long jeans, but to hide my entire self in another person, say a woman, so......I started to try other things such as skirts, dresses, then underwear in order to give the shape, then to try to make up, and nail polish and select a nice wig, etc, which i enjoy sometimes but not always, ....how far someone can go in order to try to wear the high heel out in public right? but a myth of sexuality is never changed at least for my case, i am happily living as a straight man that loves his wife and still cannot tell her my love for the high heel wearing, anyway as long as we enjoy, hiding under jeans in man mode and present your natural self to the world and family or to hiding your shoes by hiding your self in make up and skirts, we will be fine and keep happines in our lives and what will come next. thanks for sharing

I voted "subdued", although I usually wear in public both 1.5" / 2" men shoes and also 3" / 4" women boots shoes (chunk heels only). However in the second case I prefer to avoid comment, so I prefer to use long jeans to cover heels, to keep incognito appearance about the heels. Nevertheless I get some attention without comment (90% by women), but I'm still trying to understand if and what can increase my seductiveness (taller appearance, longer legs, walk) for women. For sure it is need to walk in a very confident and trained way to avoid to be ridiculous. In imaginary man has to be strong and protective, so it seems to be conflicting with high heel (but nowadays is not really true). For now I don't think that men in stiletto heels are attractive for women (at least I have not checked it directly); may be in the future.

Some of us like to flaunt our heelwear as guys. Others of us take a more subtle approach.

Here's a decent heel guys can wear without attracting a lot of attention (if any), especially if you were to take an indelible black marker to the white stitching to subdue it even further:

Anyone else have discreet heel pics?

Yes, that could be a point from where to start from, for the more complexed about wearing heels in public like myself ;-))

If one wants to wear Sneakers, one should do so. To me those shoes look absurd, more designed to be "fashionable" than practical. If one is going to wear heels, they should be boots, pumps, or sandals, not morphed sneakers.

I went for "Moderate," mostly because I'm usually not paying attention to people around me. But then, urges start to grow, and when I'm out and about, I'd just love for someone to see me in them and possibly comment them. So it's 50/50 with me. Sometimes I like it. Sometimes I don't. Depends on my mood for the day.

I voted moderate, too. I have been wearing 2 inch mens heels for 30 years but when I go out in my kilt I move up to 3 inch heels in what used to be ladies boots! The kilt and sporran may draw attention from the boots but I have had some compliments from the ladies. I would like to go higher but my aged legs and ankles protest!

Hello to all, I voted subdued . When I wear heels out they are peeptoe pumps and 4in heel. I think if I wore closed toe it would not be an issue. I just like to see my toes peeking out from under my jeans sorry it is what it is. I think to me seeing my toes is just as important as the heel. Plus I normaly wear steel toe work boots , so wearing heels would naturaly cause me to walk a shorter stride. When I am with the girls shopping this is not an issue and I feel more subdued/relaxed with them. Acording to them I am not as agresive either. When I am in work boots I can carry a can of whoop-ass but in heels its more like a can of be gentle. Bluegrass

Awesome! It's like using one of those VW conversion kits to make your bug look like a lamborghini.

It's still a bug.

Subdued. I suppose it would depend a lot on your reason for wearing heels. I wear heels them because I prefer wearing heels. I'm sure people who're staking out fashion claim territory would be a little more ostentacious. Those who're CD/TV would be more dressing on the feminine side, and then there are those who're out to blow (not quite the right term) people's minds.

Those who really care about us don't make a fuss about what we wear. Those who make a fuss about what we wear really don't care about us.

=> Wedge heels are genaraly easier to wear in publuc.

When I strated wearing heels, I has got a pair of western boots with a little heel of 2 1/4" quite easy to wear, but I prefer wedge heel :w00t2:

Shy about heels, does not describe me. I let them show. Wearing heels of 3" to 5", out and about, is common for me. Most men ignore it, but women often say they like it. When I go out socially and for dancing, it is usually in stiletto boots of 4" or 5". The women love the boots, and are always trying to get me to dance while I am wearing them. Except in rain, snow, and mud, I normally wear heels for business, but sensible styles of around 3" or 4". For those who are concerned about the adverse consequences of wearing heels in public; Don't worry. Nothing bad happens. Out in the world, folks have their own problems and priorities. They don't care what shoes you wear.
