Church outfit of the week, 10 August, 2025. Miu Miu strappy sandals in nude patent. 5 1/2" heel, 1" platform. I should wear these more often. As I was saving the photos to the folder entitled "HHPlace," I realized that I wore this exact same outfit to church about 2 years ago. Shame on me! šŸ˜†

You look great, and I'm betting those tall heels were fairly comfortable

I am not usually a big fan of designer stuff in general, but Miu Miu brand seems to fit me very well. I have three pairs, all of which I managed to snag at a deep discount (used) on either Poshmark or ebay. I wish I could remember what I paid for them, but I'm sure it was well under 100 USD. Those sandals are actually pretty comfortable for what they are. I don't know that they'd be my first choice for wearing to Disney World, but they'd probably be ok to wear to the mall.

A parting thought: The other problem with Miu Miu, besides the retail asking price, is that the vast majority of the designs are pretty ugly. Evidently, Miu Miu is Prada's sort of fun, wacky styled line. Also, as I'm sure people are resignedly used to by now, they don't make them above size 42 (which I'd consider a USW 11).

Releasing pictures of my church OOTW for August 17. I chose to be blue, with my Steve Madden single band ankle strap sandals. Which feel really weird to me. And by weird, I mean they feel weird when I walk in them by their design. I don't know why this should be so, but it's probably because I have so few ankle strap shoes. I tend to stay away from them since my legs are so short, and I've heard that I should stick to mules to have a visually uninterrupted leg. I don't know if I believe that or not, but it's how I justify having so many mules. With the pants I chose, you can't really see the ankle straps anyway, so what's the difference?

Well, I think you look great in them, legs do not appear too short.Ā  Great outfit indeed, I am envious.Ā  I would think these heels must be tricky to walk in because of a lack of side support.Ā  Admittedly, I have never tried a style like this, so have no basis to "guess"

I’ve also never tried a style like that - I’ve always worn boots. Some attempting 12cm in sandals seems like a great way to turn an ankle!Ā

Mirose, you criticized me for matching my heels to my top color. That's just what you did on Sunday.

It's kind of difficult to express dry humor through the printed word, but my comments were not intended to be critical. And anyway, I absolutely did NOT do as you have suggested I have done, and matched my heels to my top color. I matched my top to my heel color, as God intended.šŸ˜†

I am late posting this, but here is last week's church outfit of the week. I wore my Schutz wedges, which is a first for me in a couple of ways. Firstly, I've never worn white sandals before in public, and secondly, although I've owned these for a couple of years, this is their maiden voyage. Unfortunately, it is also their only voyage, as a strap broke later in the day, and there ain't no repairing that. I'll post more about that misadventure elsewhere.

I have reached the "mile"stone last week of having walked 2,500 documented miles (around 4,000 km) in heels. To be clear, it's taken me over 12 years to do it, but needless to say, I've worn out and broken a lot of shoes in that time. Sometime within this month I will break some records concerning shoe durability. I may make it a special new topic to announce such, as no one seems to respond to this thread anymore. It may be getting a little bit long in the tooth.

Congratulations on the milestone! That’s a lot of walking in high heels. I’ve never kept track of any of my mileage. You would have some interesting insights on heels and durability and the training necessary to be adept at walking in them.

i like this thread by the way. Although I might not respond I always read and enjoy your posts.

Please do keep this thread going, melrose.Ā  Ā It is appreciated, enjoyed and does indeed prompt considered response - on tangential issues as well as to the specific subject matter.

Very well. I did not get a photo taken of my church Outfit Of The Week, but I did manage to fall asleep in the afternoon, so that I was forced to go out to dinner, being as I woke up too late to begin cooking supper. It was nice enough weather to eat outside, and I was forced to look at our reflection in the storefront windows the whole time. It's all I got. Oh, by the way, somebody I know walked past and said, "Beautiful shoes, as always!" I didn't get turned around in time to see who it was. That sort of comment drives my wife crazy, though she keeps it well hid these days.

I did manage to get a photo taken this week of my church outfit. I can tell you this: While I am caught up on the laundry, I am WAY behind on the ironing. I am to the point where I have to scroll through my camera and see whether I'm repeating an outfit from two weeks ago. I decided that it had been a while since I'd worn purple, and it had been a long while since I'd worn my Michael Kors black and tan sandals. One thing about doing this steep heel challenge, it makes shoes like these effectively 4 1/8" heels seem like a little bit of nothing (5 1/8" heel, 1" platform).

I like purple and I know what you mean about four inch heels feeling all of a sudden so much easier! The challenge is certainly bringing benefitsĀ

Mlroseplant,

I must say any previous fear you may have has apparently passed. 5.5ā€ heels is an achievement indeed. You coordinate it all well. I get heels selectively now usually to match a pair of pants, dress, or skirt I have. Keep making that corner of Iowa a stylish place.Ā HinH

As many of you know, I do like to wear shorts. Now is the time when it will soon be time to say goodbye until next year. These are perhaps my favorite jean shorts from l.e.i. I like the fact that they are pretty short, but not super tight in the legs, making them a little less racy than would otherwise be the case. They are size 5, which means they are juniors and not misses (which is the U.S. term for "women's"). One would think that juniors would fit my nonexistent hips better, and they probably do, but the downfall of that slimmer cut is that they are much better when standing up than when sitting down. Were it not for the fact that I have certain plumbing installed that was not really designed into these shorts, I would have no complaints. In other words, they are a bit tight in the crotch when the legs are not parallel with the torso. I have actually had compliments from strangers on these shorts in the past, with one gal even asking what brand they were. To be sure, I was in a standing position at the time.

Paired with the shorts (and my 175th anniversary of our local church t-shirt) are my Bruno Magli Kira suede mules. Suede and summer might seem an odd combination, but somehow with these sandals, it works. They could probably use a good cleaning, though. For something casual and comfortable, they fit right in. One of the things I like about them is that they are a very narrow wedge, so they are not clompy at all, as many wedges can be. It is almost like walking in stilettos without the worry of putting your heel down a crack.

*** A technical note: These sandals are size 38 1/2. I do not care what many size conversion charts say. 38 1/2 ≠ 8 1/2 U.S. Women's. I made them work, but they are just *this* close to being too small. I could have probably used a 39 or 39 1/2.

You make shorts presentable, although I just don’t wear them myself - other than for cycling or to the gym. It’s always jeans for me and I usually manage to find a reason to extend boot season to year round, something that’s not really too hard to do in the north of England. I will say though, that you do make sandals look appealing - enough so that I am contemplating investing in a pair if I can find something nice in my size
