Wearing High Heels With Dresses

Shafted, I think a lot of people don't realize that what is above the avatar is the ranking and people somehow miss the username at the upper left of that. I wish we'd get rid of that ranking. It's a cause for confusion and resentment among the members. We don't need devisive rankings; we need to pull together, all of us, as heelers. I'm just glad I was able to change my ranking to my actual name before the moderators decided to prohibit letting people do that. I think that was a bad decision. People should be able to select their own ranking or get rid of that silly field altogether. The only usefulness is to identify the moderation staff like yourself. Ok, off my soapbox. Steve

Ok, off my soapbox.

I just sent a report in. It has to be done by an admin.

Honestly, it would be better if you addressed people by their username rather than their ranking.

I've almost fallen into that trap myself, it's very easy to do (except that anyone who called themselves "crocs" is probably on the wrong forum).

If you like it, wear it.

I did a little shopping last week - at white house black market - I had some helpful sales assistance... Tried some skirts and this cowl neck dress in a size 14. It was a little loose at the waist but a belt pulled it in nicely. http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/browse/product.jsp?maxRec=51&pageId=1&productId=570058024&viewAll=&prd=COWLNECK+JACQUARD+SHEATH&subCatId=&color=&fromSearch=&inSeam=&posId=1&catId=cat210002&cat=Dresses++Skirts&onSale=&colorFamily=&maxPg=4&size= With a black or color contrast shirt/blouse under it looked not bad - expecially with a short blazer black blazer. The blazer was a bit small and the dress expensive. But now I know a potential look to do for... Thanks for the insiration on HHPlace!

Nice dress.

It actually looked better on, than in the picture, with the black blazer. The Blazer was a 16 - and still to small - but it was stetchy enough to get a feel for the look. The knit fabric of the dress allows it to fit nicely - though a little more of my leg showed - the hem fell just at my fingertips. I'm encourage top find myself a "LBD" somewhere - I'll post on my "Skirting the Envelope" thread here

Some pics of me wearing a selection of my favourite dress styles:

@Heel-Lover.

Nice to look at, you wear them surprisingly well.

@Website Team / Shafted.

This ranking is so confusing. I just can not see the point of It. Just remove it or take up stars if you want some ranking.

Did you even read what you quoted before you quoted it?

Well I see the ranking is gone, fine.

Reading, is that not what most of us do here? Not everyone feel the need to post about everything or everybody even thoug they have nothing new to present.

English is not my native langue.

I don't like your attitude.

Loves HiHeels, Saw your post on a second pass through this thread and I also don't like my elbows so I try to look for dresses with half or three-quarter sleeves. That way the only part of my arm that shows is the bottom 6' inches and the wrists. You cover the elbows but allow jewelry like nice dress watches and bracelets to show. I prefer dresses that are above the knee no matter what the sleeve length and heels above 5.5" whether pumps, boots, or wedges if I'm going to wear a dress as I think my legs are my strong suit. You'll find what works best for you soon enough. HappyinHeels

HappyinHeels: I don't know about three-quarter sleeves. Given how tall I am, that would look rather silly on me, so I'd prefer full length sleeves which represents a nicer look in my mind. With fall having arrived, sweater dresses will be all the rage, I would look for something that ended above the knee so I could show off my legs, but a dress that falls below the knee would be cool to, especially when worn with boots.

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

Yes Jeff, I agree. Either some kind of a sheath dress like this

http://www.forever21...00048032-01.jpg

but then with my tall torso I am looking at a VERY short "skirt" length.

There is a simplicity in getting a skirt and top to fit well.

Nice dress - - unfortunately, I'll never be able to make it look half as good on me - - - !

Just swung by the JCPenney website and saw this cool dress:

Now, something like this is mondo sharp and would work well with pumps or boots! I know I could make that work!

OK guy's - - what are your thoughts on this one. I might see if they have one locally.

Hmm! Interesting! Wearing a "mermaid" style skirt would certainly require quite a degree of boldness, given how it's fitted. But yeah, if paired with the right top and shoes, I think it could work.

Interesting thought. I kinda thought it might be a bit more unnoticeable being that it's long, and denim.

If I ever go out with a dress on (and it wont be locally) I'm kinda aiming for something that won't say "I'm a guy who wants to wear skirts" but will be more like something that says "I'm a guy who's willing to wear something more like a skirt than jeans"

May be hard to describe that theoretical look, but as a comparison, I'd look closer to a ZZ Top style than a Justin Beiber. I'm not gonna pull off the LBD look at all.

JeffB, I know sleeve length will vary so three-quarters for me is different for someone else. The sheath dress Heelster showed us from JCP is stunning and I would consider wearing it. I was giving options on how to cover one's arms if HiHeelsLover doesn't like how his arms look. I agree about the sweater dress trend that's coming. I bought one (black) at Burlington Coat Factory last April on sale and now it's ready for wear this season. Above the knee and full sleeves with a nice turtleneck, great with wedges, pumps, or boots! It has gotten quite crisp here in Wisconsin after a long and very warm summer (7days of 100F or more) so many are thinking of fall fashions. HappyinHeels

That's a minor concern to me as well, but then, I like showing off my legs. It's the torso that presents problems when it comes to wearing garments made for people at least half a foot shorter than us. Yes, it is considerably easier to work with a separate top and skirt. Oh, yeah, as for that sheath dress, it does look very hot!

Agreed; at 5'10" i have the same torso issue with waists not being in the right place - someone should tell them to move it a few inches lower ;)

I'm 6-2, so that problem is even more pronounced for me. And tall girl shops are far and few inbetween, and what shops that do exist often have exorbitantly high prices, a serious deterrent.

FYI, Found a little black dress at Salvation Army - it's big enough on top - will have to be tailored in waist and below... Will keep you posted. Nice silk dress $4 - a real steal! at the cleaners now.

Heel-lover: did someone get a pic of you out in public?

http://highheelspassion.blogspot.com/2012/10/man-wearing-high-heels-and-skirt.html

To quote Arte Johnson, verrrrrrry interesting! That was a nice ensemble, and the yellow pumps were cool! All in all, he looked both tasteful and stylish, and that's the image we should all strive for when publicly freestyling.

I've spent weeks looking for this in the local JCP stores, with no luck. I finally gave in and asked my wife if I could order it - she's a saint who puts up with me wearing skirts and such at home - and it is now on its way to my local store! I normally don't wear long skirts like this, but for some reason it intrigues me - I hope it fits well! The reviews on the JCP website had comments that the sizing ran small, and large so I guess I'll find out soon! I will pair it wih both my wedge sandals and some knee-high boots.

Did I mention that I love my wife? Marrind 41 years now and still in love! She's known about my fashion preferences for about 30 years now and has no problem with me wearing whatever I want at home - except when we're babysitting our grandson!

Wealth is not measured by how much you have, but rather how little you need.

Heel-Lover: Very true, most people try to hide the fact they are taking a picture, when I suspect quite a few of us would help them out getting a better shot if asked.
