jwhite44 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 What is with all the platforms these days? Don't women wear plain old stillettos anymore. Yeah I don't understand it either. You'll see some women wearing these skin tight dresses, then they have (in my opinion) these big, clunky platform pumps on (not that some platforms shoes don't look good, but I don't think heels do). Could it be that "size matters" for women, and they want to wear 5"+ heels, and they best way for them to do it is with shoes that have 1" platforms?
PatentHeel Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 What is with all the platforms these days? Don't women wear plain old stillettos anymore. IMO I think those platforms look more classier than plain old stilettos.

Some platforms do look good but more often than not a stilletto will win every time. For me anyway. And maybe you are on to something with the "size matters" thing for women. But for me a women wearing platforms is almost like cheating. Seeing a women wearing platforms is like finding out Mickey Mantle corked his bat.....lol. Just had to throw a little Seinfeld humor in there.
euchrid Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Mariah Carey is hardly an idiot... Mariah not an idiot? Well let's just agree to differ on that score. Here's one of her 'intelligent' quotations for you to cut out & keep:- "Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that but not with all those flies and death and stuff." Always High-Heel Responsibly
Puffer Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 No, but have you seen Zara Phillips in 6 inch stilettoes on snow and at church with the Royal Family on the front page of todays Daily Mail? Awesum! Another example of the all-too-common journalistic exaggeration (or perhaps just appalling guesswork). Zara's shoes were nice enough but probably 4.5" heels at most. She has however quite often worn shoes around that height and looks good in them.
Trolldeg Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 I agree. Some platforms do look good but more often than not a stilletto will win every time. There is no conflict between a stiletto and a platform, a shoe can have both.

Or did you just read it somewhere and automatically assumed it was true?
heelsrule Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 A 0.5" "hidden" platform shoe is so much more comfortable.
hjt101 Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I don't mind the slim (1/2 inch) platform. It does add comfort, but the higher ones just don't do it for me. They just start to look heavier and change the proportion/balance of the look. Proudly standing in my patent High Heels
euchrid Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Have you actually heard her say that? Or did you just read it somewhere and automatically assumed it was true? She said it to me last weekend whilst we were having tea & cucumber sandwiches at her place. Always High-Heel Responsibly
Trolldeg Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 She said it to me last weekend whilst we were having tea & cucumber sandwiches at her place. I doubt it, since she never has said it. http://www.snopes.com/quotes/carey.asp
radiodave Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Can't say much about Penelope Cruz's or Nicole Kidman's, but Fergie's shoes are terrific. Don't suppose she would tell me where she got them... Edit: Seems I answered my own question. Her own brand! The style is called "Ravish".
High Surprise Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Saw these in a Swedish magazine. Thought you might appreciate. Sadly the article is about the damage to her feet due to wearing high heels, but let's ignore that... Right?
M-a Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Saw these in a Swedish magazine. Thought you might appreciate. Sadly the article is about the damage to her feet due to wearing high heels, but let's ignore that... Right? It's sad that her feets are so damaged and that it might be due to her constantly wearing heels but I just couldn't help but drool all over my copy of the magazine when I saw the pics featuring all her YSL heels.. “Sometimes you have to sacrifice your performance for high heels” www.heelsoholic.com
shrimper Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 There is no conflict between a stiletto and a platform, a shoe can have both. Yes it "can". I do NOT like platforms, heel or not.
faithshoes Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 avril lavigne looks hot in her black patent high heels i reckon
beverlyheel Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Laetitia Casta in last ELLE magazine... Pictures can be seen in better resolution by our http://www.beverlyheel.blogspot.com/ or Flickr accounts
PatentHeel Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Whilst in the library this afternoon, the cover of a book caught my attention. It was a BBC book based on the Torchwood sci-fi series, and on the front was Gwen Cooper in black pants and some rather nice boots. Anyway, thought I'd share my find with you all.
hiheellover23 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Laetitia Casta in last ELLE magazine... Those shoes are f'n hot!!!! What ya see is what ya get no more or less!!

AZShoeNut Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 OMG! I love these heels that Keri Russell is wearing! Larry http://highheels.onsugar.com/7110510 Life is short... Wear the bleeping shoes!
Maximilian Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Jane Krakowsk at the Macy's Parade Perfect thigh highs. they look like Louboutins but more of a Jean Gaborit style.
Guest Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I'd say that they look just like your boots Max, if I'm not mistaken- love them!!
Guest Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 There were some great heels at the golden globes. Kate Hudson has some particularly high platforms, something that would have been considered fetish stripper shoes not many years back! It has to be said, she is particularly attractive! More pics here: http://justjared.buzznet.com/2010/01/17/kate-hudson-golden-globes-2010-red-carpet/

To me platforms are ugly as hell and not at all sexy. But for those of you who like them, mazel tov.

Ya, one of the blog hosts refers to the trend as the "Stripperfication of Celebrities" whenever he posts a similar picture. I never used to be a huge fan of platforms however I am finding them more and more attractive. Larry Life is short... Wear the bleeping shoes!
Grunty Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I have no idea who she is, but am loving the heels! http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_kwltjtLN5j1qa2r19o1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0RYTHV9YYQ4W5Q3HQMG2&Expires=1264176070&Signature=r7515R8r/ym2Vty5WnZgMYYtZck%3D
