AlexC94 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Is it possible that being not able to wear heels for a week can give one withdrawal? I have been on holiday for almost a week; I miss wearing them and one hand I wish I packed a pair of low key heels but then again I'm in the middle east and well... that could raise some eyebrows but still the effects of not wearing high heels, being stilettos or platforms is real. 1
Shyheels Posted December 5 Posted December 5 You’re definitely better off without them in the Middle East. Think of dark mediaeval prisons and the sorts of things that happen there and embrace the flat-heeled life. I have a heavy Barbour oilskin coat that I wear all the time in winter and like quite a bit - I’ve had it 25 years - but I don’t miss it in the summer. That’s just not the season for it. Ditto my Panama hats. I’ve some very fine weave Ines, but I don’t miss wearing them in the winter. To everything it’s season … 1

I always miss wearing heels if I go more than a few days not doing so. I'm addicted and proud of it. But that said, you don't push it in certain places. 1

To everything it’s season … The only way that you would be able to get away with wearing heeled shoes or boots in the Middle East is to go full blown Texan, with heeled men's cowboy boots, jeans, a fancy shirt with a bolo tie, and a 10-gallon hat. Pretending that you are an oilman. 1
mlroseplant Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Yes, I have felt heel withdrawal every year when I've gone to Vietnam. Not that I would be jailed there, but would probably face a worse fate from my wife. 1
Cali Posted December 7 Posted December 7 (edited) I had to keep it short in Argentina and Chile. Boy did I want to look at their heels because of all their leather from their beef production. Same thing when touring the hills above Brisbane, went into a woman's shoe store with my brother and his girlfriend. Saw some heels I wanted to try, but didn't. You got to read the room. CrushedVamp Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I do not wear high heels myself, but do like my wife wearing them, and if it has been awhile since she has worn them, I get a sense of heel withdrawal. Because it's an issue with someone else doing something I like, it is not as easy to cure as just putting them on myself, but I do try and suggest we go places where she might typically wear them. Like going to an upscale restaurant she likes instead of going to our typical diner. Or I might mention how good she looked the last time we were at church and she had her high heels on. Or buying her a new pair of high heels that she liked. Another way is to reward her for wearing them this time in anticipation of wearing them next time, like giving her a footrub afterwards. Those are just a few of the ways I try and encourage her to wear them, and in doing so it helps with my heel withdrawal. It's just getting harder and harder to do as we both get older.
