SF Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 OPI polish is my favorite, lots of colors to choose from and a quality product. That is the featured polish at the Spa at Caesars in Vegas. As for foot jewelry, I wear toe rings occasionally and an anklet all the time. Makes for a nice look. My wife says that I have "girls feet." Makes me laugh. Where I am in SoCal, it's pretty rare to see another guy with painted toes, but it is happening more and more. The tech's at Caesars Spa say they have quite a few guys getting pedicures and color. Nice!! Have fun.... sf "Why should girls have all the fun!!"

And my podiatrist loves my nail color. I get compliments from both women and men. I really think there is a growing group of men that want to have their toes painted. In my observation, and experience - men wearing polish on toes and fingers is a rapidly growing, and increasingly accepted trend. Over on the Reddit site, I participate in the "malepolish" subreddit, that one has grown to over 200,000 members and is quite active. There are at least two groups on Flickr for men wearing polish. And - in "real life" - I wear my toenail polish quite openly during warmer months. And I'm pleasantly surprised, and often amazed, at the number of positive comments. Mostly from women, a few from other men. When I first started wearing openly, about 8 years ago, comments were brief - "nice toes!" or "I like the color." More recently, conversations ensue pretty regularly. It's just getting warm enough here to wear sandals, I'm sort of looking forward to see what conversations arise... Heelster Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 I can honestly say I have never seen nail polish on a guy

One day while shopping in Walmart I saw a couple with matching colors on their toes, neon green.. Another guy came along with a purple on his toes. That guy's girlfriend or s/o took a picture and posted it somewhere, however I never saw it. of the three guys showing off their pedi's. Of course I had the red color on my toes. Happy Heeling, bluejay
Cali Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 I have come across a few men with painted fingernails, more than "novelty". Many more with painted toes.

It was at a continuing education class, I really don't know the guy (our local has over 1,000 members), but there he was, with his electric blue toenails! And hideous Tevas. You can't have everything, I guess.
CrushedVamp Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I am a mans-man through and through so I never thought I would post publicly on this topic, but here I am. In any case with an ingrown toenail a few years ago a doctor told me they did not do that at the clinic, but a nail saloon would easily take care of the problem. She also told my wife that if she had never been before that she should go. For medical reasons I did, and I was hooked. I do not color my toenails, just clear, but have now for two years, going monthly. It was awkward at first but nowhere near as unheard of as you would think, lots of men go. I don't even consider it a gender thing anymore but a medical necessity, kind of like going to a massage therapist every few weeks. Sure, that can be a foo-foo massage for sure, but the kind i get are deep tissue to keep me going. Climbing up those high-tension towers is havoc on my calves and there are no second chances with falling from height or getting lifted at elevated voltages. I need to stay limbered up.
Cali Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Quote I have had both big toes operated on by podiatrists to fix my ingrown toenails. I’m missing my trapezium bone (destroyed 15+ years ago) so it is hard to do my own toenails. As a result, I have been getting pedicures ever since. After a few years, I got over ‘No Color” FEAR and now get whatever color I feel like (but no reds or pinks).I have had both big toes operated on by podiatrists to fix my ingrown toenails. Had them as a kid...Am now pretty careful about how I clip my nails, and force cotton under the edges of the nails if I feel them starting to dig into my toes... 1
Logjam Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) I’m mostly a lurker here anymore, but since I was one of the “first responders” to the original post (is the OP still around anymore?) I’ll comment. Similar to Cali’s experience, over 10 years ago, an ingrown toenail sent me to a podiatrist. The doctor, a woman, treated the problem, told me that I would likely loose the nail (happened), then examined my feet. She immediately advised, that due to rather severe “Morton’s toe”, that I should wear sandals or open toes as much as possible. She also advised that I start getting regular pedis, and told me that after the toe healed, a decent nail tech could fashion an artificial nail. Then she commented, almost casually, “and you can paint them. Men do that now, that’s a thing.” (In retrospect, I think she was a fan of the practice.) After a couple of visits to various “generic” everywhere nail places, I sought out a native English speaking nail tech. On about the third visit with her, my curiousity got the best of me and I asked her about men wearing color. Her response was an enthusiastic “Yes! Let’s do that!” So I tried color and was immediately hooked. Now, with the original tech moving away and then me not caring for the second tech, I’m on my third. This lady is friendly, kind, does great pedis including a foot/lower leg massage, and I’ve learned, is a VERY enthusiastic and outspoken proponent of men wearing color. We have sort of an unwritten color protocol. I kinda like changing up colors. So, during warmer months, I do wear openly, so I stick to blues, grays, occasionally black or dark red. This time of year I’m only wearing full shoes or boots out, so I generally give her “dealer’s choice”, and she comes up with a different color, or often a combo of colors, each time I see her. Right now I’m wearing a metallic fire-engine red with a small white heart for Valentine’s on one toe. For no particular reason, I just like the look and enjoy the treatments. My podiatrist advise me to wear at least 2.5 inch heels to deal with my extreme high arches. I go to a nail salon where it is more of a coop, where each nail tech has their own clients and manicure stations, but share space and pedicure stations. Very, very hard to get in for none-regulars. And I get great leg and foot massage, too. I wear open toes throught the year. Not much this month. I too let my nail tech do dealers choice, bt many times I have a design in my head when I come in. After the pedicure I get my manicure. I have damaged figernails so I get acrylic nails with gel color. Ran errands this morning, 4 random compliments on them. Men can get colored fingernails. PS. My podriatrst loves my nail color. Edited January 31 by Cali 3
