docs41 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Yes had some great albums. I saw them in 1973 and I will get to see them again in August near Pittsburgh, PA. Three of the original members will be there: Steve Howe, Alan White, and Chris Squire. They will be playing "The Yes Album", "Close to the Edge", and a third album (which I can't remember) in their entirety. Can't wait for that show! If the shoe fits-buy it!!!!!!
meganiwish Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Well I'm going to kick in here again with Blue and Rumours. They both hold together as albums in that the songs are in the right order, and no need of a 'concept'. You just need a chap to treat you like rubbish or, in the case of Rumours, have treated each other like rubbish. Wonderful music though Listen to 'Songbirds' with the songs either side and you'll see what I mean. Sorry about the italics - I'm having all sorts of trouble.
Amanda Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Blue Blue, now there's a jolly splendid 70's album......thanks for that reminder Meg, I must invest in another copy xx
Guest Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Most of my music is 70s or 70s bands. Taste and play varies month to month. Al

meganiwish Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Blue, now there's a jolly splendid 70's album......thanks for that reminder Meg, I must invest in another copy xx Listen to even just the first line of this and break out the sellotape to put your heart back together.
ilikekicks Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Sellotape? Scotch tape? REPEATEDLY ARGUMENTATIVE, INSULTING AND RUDE. BANNED FOR LIFE.
Amanda Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Sellotape? Scotch tape? Har har, very good Ilik. Doubtless neither would adhere to callouses or scar tissue anyway. I think I'll just stick with the needle and thread and the Bunnahabhain. This is what the big girls were raving about where I was at the time: http://en.wikipedia....or_Life_(album) I have to say I'm not a big pop fan but still have a bit of a soft spot for that album. I experience a flood of memories each time I hear the song "The Passenger", traces of which seem to have seeped back into the modern world.
meganiwish Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Don't you think it's sad to live in a world where Iggy Pop(the Gene Genie) is touting car insurance? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhBnEV3ElvY
hhboots Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Don't you think it's sad to live in a world where Iggy Pop(the Gene Genie) is touting car insurance? eww, and that is one creepy commercial.
Bubba136 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Precisely! What is our civilization coming to? Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

Guest Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 What else, THE WHO who's next. BEST. Album ever Deep purple burn. Every song is great except one Rush Got to be one of the best bands. I like that theri songs are abou diffent Things. Not thenormal, I have to be nice, 12 year old girl(not the word I Wanted to use) stuff. Not 70s but some of dave mathews. Has to be some of the most "musical" Music out there. I love the way his albums are engineered. I had him on Yesterday just because he makes my stereo sound good.
JeffB Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Albums from the 70's? Here's a few faves: "Rumours" by Fleetwood Mac "Arrival" by ABBA "Songs in the Key of Life" by Stevie Wonder I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
meganiwish Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Ziggy Stardust, before he decided to put on a suit and become rubbish.
Heelster Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Ziggy Stardust, before he decided to put on a suit and become rubbish. Have to agree on this. David Bowie didn't do himself any favors when he went toward the solo jazz styles. - - Just wasn't right. The content was good - he just wasn't the right guy to do it.
Shafted Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I have been listening to a lot of vinyl lately. And one of the albums I've listened to a lot lately is Bowie Pinups. Still in his Ziggy Stardust phase and is the rockin'est I've ever heard him. His best album ever, and so many don't even know it exists. Shafted, the boots that is! wood&metal Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 So many great albums in the 70's, but by far my favorite is Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.. Never frown because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
meganiwish Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 I'm not really Floydy, but I do rather like the one I think is called Breathe. Is that the one with the girl singer improvising? I'm sure one of you will put me right.
Shafted Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 That's the one, Megan. Love that one too. Shafted, the boots that is!
