Mr. X Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 I had a day off from work today. I had a few errands to run but I also needed some Mr. X time. I decided to go back to Aldo and see if my favorite salesgirl was working. I lucked out because she was. I decided to make the trek in heels. I was wearing a dress/casual shirt and jeans. Nothing to out of the norm for me. Heel wise I was wearing a pair of flat black pumps with a rounded toe and a 3 1/2" heel. Here is a link to them from elsewhere on the forum. my shoes When I walked in and she greeted me I instantly felt at ease. I headed straight to the sale stuff. I spotted a white pair that I liked right off. The she came over and proceeded to give me some suggestions of her own. She was treating me like any other customer with no reservations at all. I kept looking for a bit before finally bringing her one of her choices and asking for it in my size. She went to the back while I sat on a bench to wait. She came back and said I don't have those ones but I have these in your size. And she proceeded to set down 3 boxes in front of me. That was way to cool. I didn't even ask and here she was bringing me an armful of shoes to try on. As weird as it sounds at that exact moment I felt like Cinderella. And she was my prince bringing me my glass slippers. I wasn't too fond of most of her selections as they were mostly gladiator type sandals which I am not really fond of. I proceeded to try on the one pair that wasn't but It was a little tight and pricey. I told her I will take the white ones and she went to get the match from the back. I already tried on the single off the shelf so I knew they were good to go. Plus they were in my price range. When she came back I said that I would try on both at once just to be sure. I already knew I was taking them but I just wanted the experience to last a little while longer. Finally I said I'll take them and she rang me up. The final price was $29 and change. That was even a few dollars less than I was expecting. Another bonus. Finally I thanked her and left. Now on to the pic. The shoes are a flat white pointy toe pump and the heel measures 4 1/4 inches. According to the box they are the "Gainor" model.
jwhite44 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Great story. Glad you got something you liked (and on sale!) even it wasn't your first choice.
Mr. X Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 Great story. Glad you got something you liked (and on sale!) even it wasn't your first choice. Actually they were my first choice. I picked them out right away. Sorry if you misunderstood my post.
jwhite44 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Yeah that was my mistake on reading. Even better you got what you want!
HappyFeat Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Ahhh...a trip to Aldo is good for the soul (sole)! Isn't it wonderful to get such great service! Aldo is one of those stores that I really enjoy because more often than not they usually will bring me out several pairs to try, offering that "Cinderella," as you put it, experience. It is just great to get to try several things. I love the white pumps. I have never actually owned a pair of true white shoes, for some reason that I couldn't guess. Those are a great choice. Style is built from the ground up!
JeffB Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 The shoes are a flat white pointy toe pump and the heel measures 4 1/4 inches. According to the box they are the "Gainor" model. Damn nice pumps, Mr. X. Very stylish. But be careful, white shoes aren't supposed to be worn after Labor Day! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Mr. X Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 Damn nice pumps, Mr. X. Very stylish. But be careful, white shoes aren't supposed to be worn after Labor Day! Then when does the cycle repeat? Because technically you could say this is before "next" labour day....lol
roniheels Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I am so glad you had a good experience with the sales clerk and I am so happy you found such a nice pair of high heels at such a good price that fit you. Wear them proudly and congratulations.
Mr. X Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Time to report on my latest outing. I had a day off from work today and had some errands to run. Plus I needed some Mr. X time. Usually my outings involve ankle/calve boots under jeans. But seeing all the threads and pics here involving boots over jeans I figured It was time for me to give it a go. Outfit wise I went pretty basic with just a normal winter coat and my jeans. For the boots I choose a pair of lower heeled black knee boots that I picked up about a week ago at a local thrift shop for about $15. I didn't wear the boots right off. I brought them with me and figured I would change later in the car. Plus that way I had a pair of sneakers to change into later if need be. first stop was the bank to get some money from the ATM. I already had my shoes on so I quickly went in and did my thing without changing into the boots. Aldo is quickly becoming one of my routine stops on a Mr. X day. Today was no exception. They were having some sales and I was in the market for some new boots anyhow. Plus I enjoy the interaction with one of the salesgirls there. She made me feel at ease and we clicked from day one. I got to the mall and figured it was time for the boots. I put them on, and unlike my first outings, I was not nervous at all. Even though I was trying something new. I got out of the car without hesitation and proceeded inside. It was earlier in the morning so it wasn't to busy. It's funny how non nervous I was as compared to my first outings. Even though now my boots were on the "outside" for all to see as compared to underneath in the past. I arrived at Aldo to no one in the store. Not even sales staff. Seconds later my favorite salesgirl came from the back and greeted me with a hello from the back of the store as I was walking in. I said hi back. I could tell she noticed my boots right off even though she didn't say anything. It looked like she was getting some boxes of stock ready to either go out or be shipped back. I finally found a darker pair of brown boots that I didn't mind. I asked her if she had them in a 9 or a 10. She said no but she handed me a similar pair in a 9 and told me to try them on. She was treating me like any other customer and still not a peep about the boots I was wearing. I tried on the boot she suggested and we both agreed it was to small. She finally spoke up and asked if I was "drag". I said no. The she said so are you gay or straight or what. I said I was straight as an arrow. I then asked her if I was giving off some kind of vibe and she said no just curious. I told her I just enjoy shoes and I like wearing whatever I want. I know she was just being curious in a friendly kind of way. But it was almost as if she couldn't believe that a regular joe could like "shoes" in that way without wearing a dress or something. I know she is cool and open minded though because as I said before her manager is gay. Anyhow back to the story. So she takes back the small pair of boots and says these ones are a 10. She then went back to her boxes. This whole time maybe a few people tops had been in and out of the store. I took the boot and tried it on. It was a lighter brown with a smaller chunkier heel. It fit perfect. I looked approvingly in the mirror and I knew I was taking them. But I went to her and asked for the other one to try on. She brought it from the back and I tried both on at the same time. Again she went back to her boxes. They fit and looked so good that I figured I would wear them right out. I boxed up my old ones and went to pay. She proceeded to ring them up for me as I told her I would wear them right out. Now for the price. They had been marked down to $60. But there was also another 50% off on top of that. So all told I paid $30. Not to shabby! I thanked her and proceeded to leave. That is when another young 20 something girl came in. I seen her glance down as I was leaving but she didn't say anything. I was feeling good as I left. I got a cheap pair of nice looking boots and no bad reaction or interactions to what I was wearing. I saw a few glances or head turns but nothing else. Next stop was the local thrift shops. There is a Salvation Army and a Value Village in the same strip mall. I was feeling really great and I was now in my new boots for all to see. And I didn't have a care in the world at this point. Some times these thrifts stores are a gold mine. Today they were not so I wasn't in there long. Next I went to Chapters which is basically the Canadian equivalent of Barnes and Noble or Borders etc. Like Jeff B has mentioned in his threads I am a "tech geek". I enjoy sitting and reading the latest audio/video or computer mag. So I did that for a while then left. Next up was Future Shop which is the Canadian Best Buy. This is my store. I can easily spends hours in there without buying anything. I now own a blu ray machine so I almost purchased a blu ray movie, but didn't. After leaving I figured my day was done so I took of my boots for the trek home. But then I figured that my day was going so well that maybe I should go try my luck at the local casino. I did go but without boots. I ended up wining $60. That was a nice end to the day. So my entire day's purchases, including the boots, were free. All in all a good first outing in boots over jeans and I will definitely do it again. maybe with a better outfit too. Suggestion on that are welcome as always. Well enough chit chat. Let's get to some pics. First pic is the boots I originally wore and the second pics is the boots I purchased. I will also post a link directly to the boots on the Aldo site. http://www.aldoshoes.com/ca-eng/clearance/womens-boots/tall/71526958-farisola/28
danielp6406 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Greetings Mr X :-) Nice boots and well done on your outing ! Lucky for you Aldo still have some models in your size. All nice boots from Aldo are sold out in my size 11 :-)
Tech Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Sounds like you had a great day, doesnt it make you feel much better when you realise nobody gives a crap and the clouds dont fall out of the sky just because of what you put on your feet... I'd say, if anybody was eyeballing your first pair of boots, that might be because they look like that cheap plastic'ish material, but the second pair, well, if I saw a guy wearing those over his jeans, I'd be tempted to go ask where he got them from, they look really good. I'm surprised the salegirl asked if you were gay/straight though, especially "Are you drag", I'd have said, "Whats drag??" (Even though we know what she was asking, I'd have let her answer her own question on that one...) I will have to keep that one in the vault of comebacks for future reference. And the boots I bought were definitely not what I had in mind for a purchase going in. I was looking for something similar to my black ones but in a better material. And with a spikier heel. But as soon as I put the boots on I feel in love with them. And they are a perfect boot for freestyling I think. The heel is a perfect middle ground between no heel and a stiletto. It has just the right amount of height and chunk. And they are super comfortable to wear.

I totally agree with you when you say "The heel is a perfect middle ground between no heel and a stiletto". This is exactly why I enjoy so much my "Leigha" boots from Spring shoes. You made a good choice indeed !
HappyFeat Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Sounds like a wonderful outing...you were a winner twice, first at Aldo with the nice purchase and later at the casino...heck you made more than you paid for the boots! Having been out a lot and interacted with many clerks, I have only had a few ask me my sexual orientation. I think its actually a lot of fun when somebody takes enough interest to ask about you, even if it doesn't seem that way on the surface. Great outing! Style is built from the ground up!
Mr. X Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 Another day, another outing. I decided to visit one of the more popular watering holes/dance clubs here on Saturday nights. I tried on a few different outfits and options before finally settling on something. I was feeling a little under the weather but otherwise the night itself went off without a hitch. Not one negative comment was made. But then again I didn't receive any positive comments either. I was kinda hoping someone would notice or say something. But then again I guess blending in is a good thing too. I guess I "passed" so to speak. But anyway on to the outfit and pics. I had my new beige knee boots talked about earlier in this thread that I was dying to wear. And I actually created a couple outfits with them that looked good. I also had a pair of womens fitted black trousers that I wanted to wear. I have worn them before but never out of the house. Unfortunately they do not go with the knee boots so I had to choose. The pants won out. So here is a run down of the complete outfit. - Womens fitted black trousers - 3 1/2" black ankle/calve boots(also mentioned earlier in this thread) - Black/White mens button down dress shirt And finally here is a pic to put it all together. Comments and suggestion are always welcome.
bluejay Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 A good combination! Black and white are a natural go together. I would of liked to see more of your heels. I like to show people that I am wearing heels.
Tech Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 - Womens fitted black trousers - 3 1/2" black ankle/calve boots(also mentioned earlier in this thread) - Black/White mens button down dress shirt Looks like a good smart choice, but why the womens trousers? Given the different "cut" for the lack of "equipment" and zero pockets, the practicality of it is almost zero isnt it? Agree with Bluejay though, they are a tad toooo long too..... HappyFeat Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Smart outfit, Mr. X. I am not surprised that you didn't get noticed from my own personal experience. I too have played with long women's trousers and seldom got noticed when I have done that, no matter how high the heel. Your trousers, in addition to being to long look a tad to big as well. Keep experimenting with the look and don't be afraid to try a size smaller. Other than that, I really like what you have put together. Also, long trousers can give you the opportunity to try other styles of shoes - I know that you have said that you only wear boots and may be open to pumps for example. Longer trousers give you the option of trying other styles without much as much fear of being too obvious. As you build your confidence, then you can go with a shorter trouser. Just a thought! Mr. X Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Here is a breakdown of my latest outing. Day off from work and I had a few errands to run. I think I notice a few looks and head turns while out but nothing major. It could have all just been in my head too. Anyhow, here is a breakdown of the outfit I wore. - green t-shirt - mens black leather jacket - dark jeans - Aldo beige/brown knee boots(Faroudja model I think) check earlier in this thread for more info on the boots. And finally a pic. Comments and suggestions are welcome as always.
danielp6406 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Here is a breakdown of my latest outing... A nice looking outfit. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. ( I guess the looks and head turns maybe be in your head ? ) A man who simply enjoy wearing nice boots and does not try to pass for something else... Well done

Dawn HH Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 That last outfit looks cool to me. I think that you have hit a good casual outfit to wear with those brown boots. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Mr. X Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Had a day off today. So I went to run a few errands and get some Mr. X time in. It was cold in the morning so I wore my winter coat. I also wore some jeans with my brown Aldo knee boots over top. It gets easier everytime just like people say. Not one comment was made all day but I did notice a few head turns or eye shifts. But today I was specifically looking out for them for some reason. I guess I was hoping someone would say something or strike up a conversation but nothing happened. First stop was Aldo. I found one pair of boots I liked but they were down to the last pair and they were not my size. And I was not keen on ordering them as the lady suggested. So much for that. Next up was a couple of thrift shops here in town. It is a great way to try new things fashion wise on the cheap. And I have come away from there with many a good item in the past. Today was no exception. I was hanging up some clothes I had tried on when I spotted my purchase. I guess someone else had tried it on but decided against it as it was on the put back rack. Lucky for me. The item was a ladies black polyester military style jacket. I tried it on and it fit and looked great, sold! The I saw the $10 price tag, double sold! It went especially well with what I was already wearing. I went back to my car jacket in hand. The weather was warming up quite a bit like it was suppose to. So I took of my winter coat and put on my new coat. Even if it was cold I probably still would have changed as I really like the coat. The rest of the day went off without a hitch. And I had a little extra stride in my step. As I was coming out of Walmart I was walking behind a younger women who was nicely dressed and wearing a nice pair of grey ankle booties over her jeans. I wanted to say something but I didn't. I really wish I would have though. Anyhow, on to the pics Here is 3 pictures of what I wore. They are basically the same. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
danielp6406 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Nice boots Mr X :-) I like the color and the heel height / style. The heel is high enough to feel it and still easy to walk. I shop frequently at Aldo and I don't remember seeing them. Can you tell me the model name ?
Bootking Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Great boots; they could be unisex except for the higher heel! It's all about the heel!

I shop frequently at Aldo and I don't remember seeing them. Can you tell me the model name ? I actually posted an Aldo link to them on page 4 of this thread. They are the "Farisola" model. As nice as the boots are nobody has said anything about the coat.....lol
HappyFeat Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Seems like you had a fun outing. The boots over jeans look is becoming one of my favorites as well. Thanks for sharing and look forward to the next. Style is built from the ground up!
danielp6406 Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I actually posted an Aldo link to them on page 4 of this thread. They are the "Farisola" model. As nice as the boots are nobody has said anything about the coat.....lol Thanks for the link on page 4 (Now I remember seeing them before...) About the fact nobody said anything about the coat, I have an explaination: Maybe it is becasue we are high heel addicts, we only saw the boots ! (BTW, nice coat...)
ShockQueen Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Very nice coat & boots, Mr. X! I like the style of the coat, and I adore black, as it's one of my favorite colors. You certainly rocked your style. Glad you had fun with it! SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!
