  1. No need to buy her anything, I gave her those. Were the same size ;) .

They are size 10 and fit like a 10, not small, not narrow, great fit.

I dont know if they are available still. The name/model inside is " PL-Casablanc "

Same size?  Really?  I hadn't caught that before.  You are one lucky guy then, being able to share heels for two!

  2. I needed a pair of tan or khaki colored shoes for being more ' proper ' at events/debates and such. I can say Im now a fan of Kenneth Cole's ' Reaction ' line of footware. I not only have the ' nude ' or tan colored shoe, I also have the same pair in black.

The soles are a very soft and flexible rubber compound and even in rain they grab the surface quite firmly, no slipping. They dont even make much noise on hardwood flooring.

The second pair is of BCBG Generations. I need to find a way to get the Bows off without wrecking the whole thing. I bought them first and wore then out for a night and went to DSW where I found the Kenneth Coles. I dont think I will be wearing the BCBG ones too much as they are ( as Gramdma put it ) ' too lady like for a guy, the other ones are more fitting for you with cargo pants '.

Nice heels all, ILK.  But while I agree with your assessment of the BCBG heels being a "bit too lady like", they are my favorite of the group.  I love the toe box and the small bow is just the right ornament.  So buy a pair of those for your lady instead!  I'm sure they'd look fabulous on her!

BTW, are those size 11?  Are they still available?

  3. Got love these new Nine West 4.8" D'Orsay heels. Just arrived and amazing out of the box fit and feel. I left them a glowing review and stated I was a guy. All I can say is get yours before they are gone.

I already wore these a couple hours prior to taking the pictures. I bought them in size 10.5 and they are extremely true to size. I really love the toe box cut, very sexy in my opinion.

Nice!  Are those a recent style from Nine West?  Interesting, because they haven't used the 9West logo in some time, everything went to the spelled out NineWest.  I do like the cut of the toe box as well.

  4. Hello.

Below you can see some pictures of me with my New Nine West Women's Otilla Booties, in Cognac Leather, size US 12M (Women), with a 4 inch heels.

    Regards.

    5.5 Inch Heels

Very nice!  I'd enjoy wearing those as well.  Will you wear them out?

  5. I just wonder why the ebb and flow on large sizes?  It has been that way for a while it seems - large selection, many stores with larger sizes - then we go the other direction with few large sizes and many stores going back to 10 as their largest size.  DO people with large feet only buy shoes in times of economic stability?  Makes me wonder...alot.

  6. Went shopping for heels today.  Not a wide variety of stores, but stopped at Nordstrom Rack, Torrid, and Saks outlet, as well as Target.  Nordstron Rack is very disappointing these days.  They used to have a wonderful selection of size 12 heels.  Now, down to scant few pairs.  Used to be one of my favorite spots.  Now, hardly worth stopping.  Wonder what happened?  Hadn;t really shopped Torrid before.  Very disappointing there as well.  Only had maybe a handful of styles at best, and absolutely nothing that I liked.  I did try on a pair of slingback black and white striped heels just to check fit, and found them to be not all that comfortable.  I thought they were supposed to be wider widths there? Didn't expect much at Saks, but I did find an ankle boot with a 4 inch chunky heel that, if they hadn't been nearly a hundred buck, I might have been interested.  I believe they were Cole Hahn brand - nice, but...  Finally, Target has become a wasteland as well.  While I applaud the fact that they stock most every shoe they carry in size 11 (and some of their 11's actually fit me once in a while), the selection is very, very limited.  So it seems that size 12 has, once again, become difficult to find just about anywhere beyond Payless - and I just don;t see much at Payless that I like anymore (not much for jackstands at all, as ILK would put it  .  So no new shoes for me.....

Is anyone else having any better luck with large sizes?  Sure seems like the retailers are scaling back again after a flurry of availability for a while there.

  7. In terms of style and look, I have to side with ILK here.  A small platform is fine, but personally, I find the comparison to "bricks on their feet" to be spot on.  And I have yet to see a woman that can walk gracefully in a platform that is over an inch thick.  Just my 2 cents worth here.  That being said, please, wear what you like!  Knowing fashion, we're likely in for a period where heels are not in style, and we'll all be wishing to see a heel of any kind on the street.

  8. Took me a long time to get used to chunky heels when spike heels went out in the 70's.  The 80'saw the return of some great shoes, but then the late 80's and early 90's had the "Louis" heel trend, and I disliked those a lot, still do.  I still haven't warmed to platforms, though a small one is ok if the rest of the shoe is cut nicely.  Same for wedges, on the right shoe, they are ok, not really hot on them, but I have actually bought a couple pairs over the years.  But a shoe of this design, I personally can just not get into. But if you like them, go for it!

  9. I voted number 2 in this poll, but in truth, it greatly depends on what heels I am wearing.  When I wear my 3 to 4", chunky heel boots with longer jeans, I am pretty confident when out and about and really don't pay much attention to other people.  On the other hand, however, I do not go out in public in thinner heel boots, or pumps, etc.  I just don't have the desire to be the "look at that guy" person, or to have a photo show up somewhere on line (like the nasty video that is in one of the other threads of the guy ridiculing another guy that was out shopping in heels.  My wife and family do not have knowledge of my heeling, and unfortunately, I think, for world peace (my world, that is  ), it needs to stay that way.  So I can be somewhat confident when pretty much incognito, but not at all if the heels would be readily apparent.

  10. Scrappydoo - those Menswear shoes have disappeared from the Payless site.  When I was trying some withj a sales associate/manager, she said those looked great.  Now I regret not having made the purchase - maybe I will find them on clearance if I check in the store again.

Yes, I passed the first time I tried them on (after also being told by a SA that they were comfortable, she had a pair herself, and that looked good on me), and since have been unable to find my size.  Too bad, as I had decided that I liked them.  He who hesitates!

  11. Looking very, very nice, booty lover!  I especially like the second pair.

Although I haven't bought myself anything new, this time of the year tends to see me buying more shoes than usual for my girlfriend.  Aside from gifts, we usually hit up the awesome clearance rack at DSW toward the end of the year.  Nothing for me as they tend to stop around 11.5 (although I do check that area of the store to see if they have 13 or 12w on a whim) but we found a few pairs for her. DSW purchases begin with Madden Girl Getta in navy.  When walking around to try them on she received complements from an employee and two other shoppers - yup, time to buy.  Next is Parma from Mix No.6 in black.  1992 is alive and well I suppose but I really liked these chunky mary janes, they fit her perfectly, and are something different from the rest of the closet.  Last is Agree from Kurt Geiger in grey.  These were 80% off store-level markdown and came to like $12 so she couldn't pass them up.  Way nicer than the $140 I saw them for last month.

Two other purchases for here were online.  Bass Glenbrock in citrus to complement the pair in black she's had for a year or so.  The red pumps are Palma by Mossimo as incredibly she was without a pair of straight up red pumps in an assortment of over 150 pairs of heels.

I sure do miss my wife being able to wear heels........  Bad case of jealous right now.

  12. Up until 3 or 4 years ago Heels were a closet fetish for me, so I went for the highest sexiest spikes I could get. Now I'm into wearing more androgynous women's shoes openly. Before, I avoided the Easy Spirit store because they didn't carry the sexy stilettos I wanted. I called them the "old lady shoes" store. Now I find that they have a good selection of shoes that I can wear openly, and plenty in size 12. Today I picked up a pair of Cooper block heeled booties in brown for $30. I'm trying Heels2u's trick of filling the heels to make them quieter. I generally like the "thuck" sound of heels on a hard floor, but theses are pretty high and I really don't want to draw too much attention at this point.

They are roomy and reasonably comfy for a chinese made plastic shoe. I wore them to a customer's site today and probably will again tomorrow.

Nice boots there.  That is a style I would wear and enjoy.

  13. Ron, I've been saying that for years. And I feel that it is not just on men. Big women don't look particular good tottering on stiletto heels either. Stilettos look best on thin people. The thin heel matches and complements the slender build of the wearer. Bigger, stockier, guys and gals should go for thicker heels in my opinion.

    Steve

Very true, but some heavier women can get away with thin heels.  My wife was never what I'd call thin, but she still wore stilettos, and they looked good on her.  Don't misunderstand, she wasn't huge, but certainly not slim.  Of course now, with her bad feet, heels are a thing of the past (darn it!).  But you are correct, for most heavier, larger folks, I think a bit of girth to the heel can be a good thing.  But as you can see in my avatar, that doesn't stop me from liking, and wearing, spike heels....lol.  I don't wear those in public, however.  I stick with chunky heels for that.

RonC , You are correct about Payless carrying most styles in the larger sizes. Here are my issues they never have the women's 11,12 or 13 in stock and what stock they do have is something I would not force on my worst enemy. Believe it or not some people like to try the shoes on before purchase and why should I have to tie my money up with Payless waiting on the order then find out I don't like the fit just to have to drive 80 miles round trip to the nearest Payless store for an exchange for another size. I always hear the same line..."You can order it on line' or you can wait 2 weeks and get another size shipped in the store at no cost . That's funny and getting a little tiresome to hear. I am looking for another shoe store in my area. I just get aggravated that I have to waste so much time waiting when they should have the styles in the store. I understand about size issues related to the sales demography. Long story short it's just more fun to go shopping in person than key punching on the computer. Just out of curiosity Ron , how far do live from Sharonville, OH that is where my Payless orders ship from . I am between Louisville, Ky and Cincinnati, OH . To get the larger sizes from Payless I have to travel to Shively and that is located in the west end of metro Louisville.

Maninpumps, I misunderstood.  I thought you were saying they were no longer offering large sizes.  You meant in store.  I agree.  In many stores, size 11 is about all you get, and even then the selection is 1/2 of the other sizes.  I am fortunate that in my area, there are several stores that do carry at least a decent selection of size 12.  My issue with Payless is sizing.  I just bought a pair of their Helen pumps (see pic below), one of the "comfort" styles, which I thought would be the equivalent of the Karmen style.  For me, the Karmens, even in a 12 wide, are a bit snug, so I thought 12 medium would be necessary.  I tried them on in-store and thought that they certainly felt a bit larger than the Karmens, but thought that would be a good thing.  However, I got them home and wore them for a 1/2 hour and when I got up to walk, I was walking out of them, especially the left shoe (my right foot is probably close to a 1/2 size larger than my left).  So now I really can't wear them much, as they fall of my feet.  Very disappointing.  I guess my issue is more the width of a shoe, as to get sufficient width, I have to size up.  But then when they loosen a bit, they are too long.  Probably need to have a double wide in womens (I most often wear a wide in mens shoes), say an 11 WW, but try finding a decent looking pair of heels in that size!  And even if you do, by the time they get that wide, they start to not look so good.  Ah, the trails and tribulations of a man trying to wear a shoe designed for a woman.....

  14. Thanks bluejay, JeffB, and Logjam!

After a long day working yesterday, I put in a full evening working at home today.  I've ordered a few pairs of heels online over the past couple days, including a pair of 4.5 inch pumps, so I wanted to give my ankles a nice stretch to get them ready for when they arrive.  This lead me to wear my 5" Renetti Bonni spectator pumps along with a black skirt and patterned shirt.  Sheer Energy pantyhose in suntan today, as with all the pictures in my previous post.  Surprised how much I liked this shirt with the skirt.  Got through about seven hours of walking and sitting but my legs sure know that I was wearing the higher heels today.

I know I've said it before, but I love those shoes!

  15. Patent black courts with strap. I have a similar pair in plain black which I really like so when I saw these I had to get them. I recently started liking patent shoes.

Like the wedges, good for public wearing as not as noticable that they are high heels, especially if wearing longer trousers or jeans.

Everyone should have a pair of black court shoes

Nice shoes.  While I'll always love a great stiletto heel, I am beginning to appreciate the chunkier styles more and more.  I think they look a bit better on the typically heavier and larger mans leg and foot.  A bit more in balance with the size of the person, I guess.  Not sure I'd have the stones to wear black patent out and about, but I do like those alot!

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImageThese are my latest acquisitions. I had to order from Payless.com it seems Payless is backing away from the larger sizes. To those who are anti-platform sorry. Hope the rest of you all enjoy. They all fit well and very comfortable as heels go. Happy Holidays everyone !

I am curious as to why you mention that "it seems Payless is backing away from the larger sizes"  Is there something I hadn't noticed, as just about all of their shoes are available at least to 12, and most to 13.  Unless there are some new items that aren;t going that high any more?

  16. They're called Griffina and I ordered them from Spring earlier this year. But now it seems they don't have them anymore, but I did find them on the US site. http://www.callitspring.com/us/clearance/womens-boots/ankle-boots/90414919-griffina/96

And they're on sale for just $20.99 right now!  They look better on you than in their photos, likely due to a bit more space between the heel and the forefoot sole in a larger show size.  What is the noise factor on those?  Click, clomp, or quiet?  With a 4" heel, I'm tempted.

  17. I'm not sure I understand, Ron.   If the boots are the right size, how can there be less room than normal (for a man's boot) between the wearer's toes and the front end of the boot?   Or are you suggesting that the shaft is set further forward on this boot so giving the illusion that the upper is foreshortened - in which case they must be a sloppy fit around the ankle, surely?

No, not really sloppy around the ankle.  All I can tell you is that there is just not as much shoe in the toe box area as there is ain a typical man's shoe.  Narrow, length, whatever, it is different.  Heel causes some of that, as the length is alter by the rise.

  18.

RonC, I bought a similar pair for the same reason last year.  These are my new OTK boots, from New Look. £45, size 9. They fit perfectly. I've worn them around the house, I'm not public heeling so much, not so obviously anyway, but I am looking for ways to wear them. I just I missed a trick with the Halloween parties around :(

Link to New Look, for those interested

If only I felt comfortable enough to wear those out and about!

An interesting comment, Ron.   I have several pairs of men's ankle boots (Chelsea or Beatle styles) with tapered, pointed or chisel toes, some with cuban heels.   I certainly don't consider that a 'tapered toe box' indicates a non-male boot, and your boots are essentially round-toed.   In my view, a round and possibly clumpy toe can draw too much attention to what should be a fairly streamlined boot shape (regardless of the heel) as well as looking less elegant.

Your boots look fine to me for discreet street-heeling, although the buckled strap is somewhat alien to a man's boot style, at least in the UK.

I guess taper or narrowness was not really the correct term, as you are right, these are more rounded.  I think the issue is the length of the toe area - maybe not as much space from the end of the toes to the end of the shoe as a man's boot would have.  They certainly don't look like a typical man's boot would.

They are discreet, and I do not suggest otherwise - it is exactly why I bought them.  The buckle is hidden by my pant leg, so that doesn't show.  Again, seeking to have them go unnoticed.  And I believe I will succeed at that in most every instance!

    Thanks!
