  1. I've always found them to be a contradiction, but then why would you put a 4" spike heel on a boot meant for true winter weather (i.e. ice and snow), and lord knows we've had plenty of those through the years.  But personally, I just do not find them attractive.  And it seems they have multiplied this fall season, just when I was hoping they would have finally run their course...lol.

  2. I'm guessing the problem your wife has with those boots is the width of the heel.  The heel is more narrow and tapered than a typical man's heel would be.  I think if you found something in a similar style but with a 2 1/2 inch heel that was more blocky/chunky, she likely would have no problem with them.

  3. My mistake on the location.

It was obviously staged, and quite honestly, without the camera being trained on them, it is unlikely that the three guys would have drawn that amount of attention.  And I'm also sure that the the crowd reaction shots that were picked to be included in the video were those that showed the most emotion.  Still a little bothersome to me that laughs and snickers were the primary reaction that was shown here.

  4. I am hoping this link works.  It is apparently from a Jewish site and features three guys walking around a shopping mall in heels.  I am not sure if they were actually trying to attract attention or not, but attrract attention they did.  I do find it rather unfortunate that most of the attention was in the form of laughs and giggles.  If the link is not clickable, maybe it can be cut and pasted.

  5. Ron: I looked for a shoe size conversion chart to find my shoe size. And It said size 11.  So I ordered the shoes on line from a big store called Dillards.

It was a shot in the dark as I have never bought womens shoes before. They were a little tight in the toe area but I used some spray strecher and just put them on and they loosened up for me. Also I went back to the order page on Dillards website and they claim the heel is 4,25 inchs high. I measured it with a ruler and it says it is 4.5 inchs high. I have not bought any other shoes yet so I do not know if my size 10 in mens means an 11 in womens every time.

Eager2heel, I believe you will find that sizes vary quite often.  With a size 10 mens, if your foot is not too wide, a size 11 womens should work in most instances.  I will say that if the shoes pictured fit, most size 11s will fit as well, because a pointed toe high heel such as that tends to be cut a bit smaller than something like a round toe pump or a sandal.  In most instances, it the additional width of a mans foot that makes the sizing different for a traditional womans' style shoe.

Also, not surprised that the heel is a 1/2 inch higher than advertised.  The listed heel height is usually based on something like a size 7 or 8 shoe, and in order to maintain the same silhouette, the heel needs to be higher as the size gets larger.

  6. Eager2heel - nice looking pair of classic pumps!  Those heels look higher than 4"  Sure that's all they are?  Is 11 the size you typically wear?  How do these fit compared to other 11s?

I lucked out and was able to find a pair of the Pleaser heels that I missed when I bought the Dolly-50's at the beginning of the month.  I had to get US13 rather than my usual Pleaser / Demonia / Funtasma size of US14 as the brand tends to run a size small in my experience unless a specific style or wide.  However these fit pretty good other than the right toebox being a little tight and were less than $20 out the door so I can't complain.  Style is Seduce-425 and they should break in fine.

These are almost identical to a pair of leather Renetti pumps I have with the exception being the vamp on these is higher and the footbed is a little wider - which I like as the only complaint I really have about the Renetti's is they feel a tiny bit too narrow.  Of course the leather of the Renetti pumps means they've conformed to my foot better but these have really good arch support and are pretty darn comfortable for 5" "exotic" heels.

Nice shoes, Lime!  But I have to say, the cut of the Renetti heels is more appealing to my eye - I prefer the lower cut vamp.  That being said, I might have to try some of the Pleaser line, as these look pretty nice!

  7. When I was doing the housecleaning, I quite often took the opportunity to do things like vacuuming and floor washing wearing a pair of heels.  I just wanted the experience of wearing heels without focusing on the fact that I was.  Typically, when I wear heels, that is my focus - cool, I have a pair of heels on!  But I was trying to get the experience of heels while being focused somewhere else - I guess I was looking to see what women experience while wearing heels where it's just a pair of shoes that I happen to be wearing.  And I did get that experience where I would "forget" about the fact that I was in heels and be focused on getting the vacuuming done and the floor washed.  And it did help in getting more experienced in the wearing of heels - I was able to negotiate the world better.  It is a learning experience - making sure the heel doesn't slip out from under you when taking what isn't exactly a smooth step, etc.

Jetheelsfan, I long for those days as well.  But they're not coming back anytime soon I'm afraid.  I often wonder where the heels that are sold are being worn?  I see stores chock full of great heels - DSW, Nordstroms, Nine West - and I see web sites where you get more than a thousand results if you just go shopping for heels - yet I so very rarely see women wearing them.  Like none at church on Sunday.  Go out for a nice dinner on the weekend - well, if I'm lucky, in the room of 30-40 women, maybe one will have a pair of heels on.  Do they buy them to store in the closet?  I don;t get it.  Even at a fancy affair like a wedding - I would say the true "high" heel count is something in the 60% range.  Sad but true.

  8. I buy for both.  I don't know that I'll ever reach the point where I would wear a pair of stilettos out in the big bad world, so I buy those for at home.  But then I also look for chunky high heels for public wear, so as not to be too conspicuous.

  9. I will be bluntly honest in saying these things. If your supposedly ' offended ', this is my blanket ' dont read any further ' release form.

If a woman is wearing heels, great. If not, does she have any in her closet at home? *I* like to go to ' nice places ' once in a while and even wear a ' Nice coat ' for some of them. If she cant don a pair of heels for such an occasion, she can stay home! I'll wear the heels.

If theres a pair of twins and one is in heels and the other in flats, the one wearing heels will receive my attention first.

ILK, your last sentence nails it for me!  No question.

  10. blackpatent - nice shoes.  I'm usually not a big wedge fan, but those have a very nice cut to them.  I would enjoy those - haven't seen them at The Rack.  As Lime 15 stated, they pretty much phased out the larger sizes - pickings are quite slim now.  Not sure why, but I guess they just weren't selling many, as if they were, the large sizes would still be there.

Lime 15, those are interesting.  I find I am unable to do platforms in a pump style, as the back of the shoe constantly pops off when I walk because the sole doesn't bend.  Otherwise, I could almost see me wearing something like those.

  11. If that's all I had to go by to begin with, I'd have to say yes, it could have an influence.  As stated by others, there is a lot more to it than shoe choice, but as a first impression, it would play a part in my decision.  Now I'm not saying that a woman in a pair of jeans should be wearing heels, but for example if I saw a woman nicely dressed in a dress or skirt, and she couldn't be bothered to wear a nice looking pair of heels with a dressy outfit, I'd be quite disappointed and would likely have the thought that she probably doesn't wear heels at all.  And I'd certainly be less likely to go there...

  12. As work was taking me into the city this week, I was all set to do some shoe shopping at my favorite Nine West outlet store on the north side of Chicago.  It has always been a great place for a guy to shop, as it was about the only outlet store that stocked size 12, and being in a neighborhood known for its LBGT population, tolerance was high, and there was never any problem at all trying on shoes there.  I finished my business early and I was thinking great, I can get to the store early before it gets crowded, as I do prefer to do my shopping in a less crowded situation.  Well, I turned the corner on the street where the store is located only to find it gone......what a disappointment.  Then I thought, ok, they had another store fairly nearby that was also an outlet type store, but didn;t stock the size 12s.  I thought maybe with this store being closed, the other might now have the 12s in stock.  So I drive there, and that store is closed as well.  Wow, I am very disappointed.  I have always liked many of the Nine West styles, and the comfort of shopping in that store was unmatched in any other location.  And they are now gone forever.  I guess it's another sign that internet shopping is taking over.  Too bad....really too bad for me.

so much happy. i dont want quit them anymore   :w00t2:

Those are gorgeous, but I could not do that heel height.  I love the style though!

    Glitterheels,

Personally, I like the red sandals and the peep toes.  Good choices.  I'm not much for platforms, so the other two are not really mt syle, but enjoy them!

  14. These are my new ankle-strap sandals (from New Look). I thought the heels looked a little low when I first saw them, but they are just about 4" high, and when I tried them on I rather liked the heel-height as it is, even though they don't feel too steep and I could comfortably wear a little higher. For sure I wouldn't want them any lower.

In the end I liked them so much I went back and bought a second colour - the black ones a synthetic leather-like material (and also come in a bright coral colour), the oatmeal ones are suedette. I'm thinking they'll look good with cropped skinny jeans (or a skirt/dress), it'd be a shame to hide them under bootcut jeans.

Quite nice!  A simple sandal look - but elegant.

That's outstanding ! Nothing like the first time shopping and the fear of the "HEEL COPS" getting after you ! What will happen if I get caught by a friend and the butterflies in the pit of my stomach. Then the endless travel home with my new heels . Then ya get home and try them on in front of a mirror and "practice" walking around the house .  Oh, the good old days .

Lane Bryant was having a shoe sale a few years back and my wife told me I needed a pair of boots because pumps are not the best thing to wear in rainy/wintery weather. I found a pair I really liked, but not in my size . The sales lady told us to check back in a few days after the next shipment came in. A week passed and we went back and they had another style I liked better . Being new to boots and Lane Bryant I was kinda "iffy" about trying them on in the store. When the sales lady asked what the occasion was ... my wife blurts out I can't have him walking around in pumps all winter. The sales lady smiled and said try them on and see how they fit . I tried one on and she said put the other on and see if you can walk in them I did as several other customers and my wife looked on . I got a lot of compliments and they looked good with my jeans tucked in . Needless to say we purchased the boots and a few other things . I look forward to my trips to Lane Bryant and most of the sales ladies are very helpful . I think the sales ladies go out of their way to help a guy .

SF , Thanks a lot ! I have a new quest. I love the wedges you posted. Looks like there will be a trip to Payless in my future .

Here are the boots I purchased.

I also have had nothing but good experiences in Lane Bryant.  Help if I want it, and left alone to try on whatever I please.

  16. Another favorite pair. A.N.A. Jcpenney.Posted Image30.jpg

Those are nice!  I am not a huge wedge fan, but when the rest of the shoe is fairly delicate, like these, I do find them attractive.  I'd still much prefer a standard heel, but a pair like this could wind up on my feet....lol.

Are those from a while ago?  I looked at JCP on-line and don;t see them there at all.

  17. Just bought these from Payless. Fioni night Hot Date Rendezvous

FL, I like those, but when i tried them on at Payless, the heel/arch just didn't hit in the right places, and I found them to be very uncomfortable.  Are you able to wear them comfortably (inlcuding walking any distance)?
