  1. RonC, Don't worry my friend as your words have proved prophetic and you have emerged as "The Sage of Northern Illinois". My Mom is a native of Springfield so she gets the title of "The Sage of Southern Illinois". The dishonesty is just one more part of life's mosaic..it's the part where one needs a big eraser to wipe away and start fresh again. Stay in touch since we know you have the "touch" :)

    HappyinHeels

Thanks HiH! Wish I had the intuition to really be a sage!

  2. Look at the listing - it tells you that they run small to beging with, and then recommends an additional 1/2 size due to shape. So my guess would be that they have had experience with this shoe and know that you should order a full size up. And unfortunately, if you wear a 10, there are no size 11s available.

  3. I was in the Nine West outlet store yesterday. It was a rainy morning, and I got there just after opening. I had the store basically to myself. As this particular store carries size 12 in many styles, I enjoyed trying on numerous pairs of heels. I did not end up buying any - for some reason, I just have not seen much that entices me to buy as of late - but did very much enjoy the opportunity to shop without worring about who else was in the store. Lately, it seems that I'm more enjoying the shopping part of the experience.

  4. WHile DSW does have many shoes to size 12 on line, it is quite rare to find a size 12 in the store. So if the store is a long trip for you, you might want to call ahead to see if they have the 12s in store. Not sure about Aerosoles stores. Does anyone know if they typically carry 12s in store?

  5. Hmmm... Somehow I consider wearing thigh boots with 5" stilettos either with jeans or a skirt falls into the category of "deliberately seeking attention" :penitent: , but neither Jeff nor I do any agressive activities the would imply a danger to others. I do agree that most folks "have a live and let live attitude" and I think those folks constitude more then 99% of the public. However, as the old saying goes, "It only takes one...".

Jeff - You have often mentioned cutting a jaunt short to be home in time for a game on TV. This fosters images of a guy in thigh boots and stylishly atired kicked back in a recliner with a cool drink taking in a game (unless my above comment is all wrong when it comes to watching a game :eek1: ), Consider this a picture suggestion. :text_lol:

I didn't do a good job of indicating that when I said "deliberately seeking attention" I meant a deliberate attempt to draw attention to one's self by being loud, arrogant, rude, acting silly, whatever, and not by simply wearing clothes and shoes that are outside of the "norm". I have to admit, a man wearing heels and a skirt or dress, as a man, is rather obvioulsy going to attract attention, but it doesn't mean running about and yelling look at me, if you know what I'm trying to say.

  6. I very much enjoy the feeling of hosiry as well - pantyhose, thigh highs or gartered stockings. Hey, does that make us "hosers"??? lol. Wow, I guess that humor is getting pretty old by now. SCTV stuff.

  7. I disliked the lying part very much. I posted some time back that I disliked members that passed themselves off a women, and it was terribly misunderstood. I have absoluetly no problem with anyone that crossdresses - heck, I've been know to do so a few times myself - but please, don't lie about your gender. I hope all those that took offense to my earlier comment will understand that it was only meant for those that out and out lie about their orientation. I like DebbiNCs choice of shoes very much, but his postings here and in the women only forum are a bit much, now that we know it is actually a guy.

  8. Jeff, I admire your chutzpah in selecting your outifts. However, I believe that it is not so much that your shoes are noticed, it's just that people are not, as a rule, inclined to point, stare, laugh, call out, whatever it may be. They may notice, have a tought in their head, and then just continue on their way. I know that people have noticed my 4" heel boots when I've worn them out, but I've never had anyone make a comment. It is likely that most will just glance, and you'd never even know that they did notice by the time you look at them. I think most people, unless you're doing something that is deliberately seeking attention or poses some type of danger, have a live and let live attitude.

  9. Kris, that is very typical of Payless. I think it's pretty typical that they get guys shopping for heels. After all, the shoes are inexpensive and they caryy our sizes! What not shop there. I often stop in just to browse a bit and try things on. AT the moment, they don;t have much that suits my eye, but there's always something that shows up eventually that I like, and I buy when that happens!

  10. post-79-0-82891100-1364835705_thumb.jpgPicked these up from Lane Bryant the other day. First time shopping tehre for shoes. All their shoes come in wide width, and believe me, it is a very generous wide. I chose a size 11 wide and they are actually a bit loose on me, and I can't say I've ever had that experience before. I know they are not the highest of heels (about 3 3/4" in soze 11) but they are comfortable and walkable. And the in-store experience was good as well - the staff had no porblem at all with me try on shoes. Not for everyone, I know, but they do have a few other styles inlcuding one small platform with a higher heel.
  11. I was in a local mall (Chicago area) and the Baker's Store apepars to have been remodeled and is continuing operations. No signs of closing - new styles on the shelves. Still almost all platforms as before, but definitely not closed.

  12. Hello again friends! Its been a while since my last post however these little beauties were waiting in the mail today and I couldn't wait to share them. Purchased at an absolute steal of a price on eBay, the very formal, feminine Sophia by Bourne. Beautifully simple cut with an almond toe box and upper of rich black satin, leather lining and sole. The heel is breathtaking featuring jewel detailing and manageable yet sexy 4.5" height. Overall an elegant shoe of great construction and an instant favorite of mine! Thanks for letting me share! Great as always, fumikaheels! As I went to this secton today, I had the thought that you hadn't posted in some time, and that I missed seeing your photos because you always pcik shoes that I love. So I was glad to see you post again, and of cousrse with another pair of great heels!

  13. So do we! ;)

Ebayers who list the shoes as "designer" when they are so obviously cheapos. I challenge them to tell me the name of te designer.

Certainly not meant for you, Dr. Shoe - you have always been straightforward about yourself! I wish I had worded that comment differently - to indicate that the person had identified himself under gender as being a female - which is not true. That is where the issue arises..

  14. Tax return meant that I had "earned" myself a little retail therapy. Local Payless stores and the Rack haven't had much lately so I ordered online. All three pairs are from Payless.

First pair (6th, 7th, and 8th pictures) are the La Femme pump from Christian Siriano for Payless. I'll be honest, I really haven't been too keen on Christian's styles but these are an excellent classic pump. These hit all the right spots for me with a nice heel height, almond toe, and a platform that is very thin. I don't mind the platform styles but it seems that single sole heels are getting harder and harder to find, at least in my size. The 13's fit great right out of the box and are very comfortable aside from the right toebox being a little tight (as is usual with me). I've been wearing these for about three hours and they feel really good. Get them well you can as they're still on sale!

Second pair (3rd and 4th pictures) are the staple, Karmen by Predictions, in black patent. I've had the regular black and the nude patent for a long time and wear them more than any other heels. Totally comfortable right out of the box. I often refer to this style as "pre-broken in" and hope they keep it going for awhile.

Third pair (1st and 2nd pictures) are Karmen as well but in navy, my favorite shoe color. I noticed that the Payless website seems to be splitting the navy into the regular (these) and a navy patent. I'll definitely be picking those up if they come up in my size.

While I do love the look of the Le Femmes, they were not a comfortable fit for me. Squeezed the toes and flopped off at the heel. I was all set to buy them before I tried them on. Glad I did, or I would have ened up with something that was quite uncomfortable for me. Too bd! They look great on you though!

  15. So since theres a primark now where i live i couldn't resist and go shopping for some heels :D and i got me a pair of mary janes today. they are size uk9/eu42 and yes they are bit thight but the uk10/eu43 size didn't had the stiletto heel and was a bit lower so i decided to go with the 42. maybe some ice stretching will do the trick :D

    post-15057-0-00611300-1362519251_thumb.jpost-15057-0-50688200-1362519236_thumb.jpost-15057-0-52567200-1362519201_thumb.jpost-15057-0-26416500-1362519218_thumb.jpost-15057-0-62593400-1362519185_thumb.j

Nice shoes! I like the mary jane style - something about the strap and buckle that always caught my eye! And that looks like a nice, walkable heel height.

  16. I was encouraged by the stories, so I finally ventured the nerve to go out in my painted nails and heels (two separate trips).

The other night, I was wearing a pair of sandals around the house (first picture attached) and my wife came home and mentioned that her car needed gas (my job). I went for the loafers and then thought - NOW is as good a time as any, purple toenails and all. I jumped in the car and went down to the gas station at the freeway and pulled up on the freeway side and proceeded to pump her gas. The pump receipt dispenser wasn't working and I had to go in and get a receipt. The station was packed - a few looks but no comments. I survived!!

Today I felt like wearing my newest heels home from work (second picture attached) and noticed that I needed gas as well. So, again I find a busy station and get out, fill up the vehicle, and went home. There was a guy in a Mercedes behind me and a lady and a police officer on the other side - along with the feeder traffic I deliberately parked next to. Again, a few looks - no comments - and I survived again!!

Ordered some black leather wedge boots (5 inch heel, 1 inch platform) today. Time to go out for real this time.......

Thanks guys (and gals) for all the support. Never been happier.

I really like the black sling backs - great toe cleavage. Can you tell me what brand they area and if you think they might still be available?

  17. I would point out who if I still had the facts to show everyone. But alas, apparently a good job was done to hide the tracks. I was hoping the person would come clean.... I will keep my frustration to myself from this point on. I mean no one harm, I just am not a big fan of deceit.

  18. Stopped by a Nine West outlet and got another pair Sweetness 4" pumps, this time in red. It's the high point of my day so far finally getting to wear them and start breaking these in. I know how comfortable they get after worn in :)

I like those alot. I tried them on last time I went to NineWest. Unfortunately, my wider than average feet and these shoes didn't play nice together. The 11s were very snug and pinched my toes. The 12s were too long and my foot would come out the back, even with the strap. So no good for me. Too bad, as I do really like the style. I am jealous on one hand and thankful on the other of your size 10s. If I could wear size 10s, I'd be in heaven as far as choices go, but would be spending far, far too much on shoes!

  19. I cannot tell you how many pairs of shoes I purged over these many years. While feeling guilty or "odd" about it is part of the process, since I do not share my desire to wear heels with anyone, one of the biggest probelms is finding a place to keep the shoes. So with limited storage, I can only have maybe one or two pairs around at any given time. Therefore, I will buy a pair, wear them for a while, and then pass them along. Many years ago I stopped putting them in the trash, as that just seemed stupid for perfectly good shoes. Now a days, I try to give them to the Salvation Army or another charitable group, for re-sale. I know there have been many guys thrilled to find a nearly new pair of heels in their size at some re-sale shops! I would likely spend a lot less on shoes if I could keep what I buy, but.... I can tell you that there are many pairs of shoes that I would love the have back! And in the past, in the days when I wouldn't try on before buying, there were numerous pairs that were passed on simply because they did not fit! Glad I finally reached the try on in store stage!
