I'd just about given up, but I got lucky and found them :in_love:

Usually when I see more than one buckle I think "too many straps", but I totally love these and definitely don't want to be hiding them under long trousers!

I like the black pair a lot. Given how you've rolled up your jeans, they look similar to capri pants, and I think those look straps would look great with that style! I'm not much for platforms, so the second pair isn't up my alley, but I'd happily take a pair of those ankle straps!
  2. I do understand the location factor in determining what Payless stocks. The stores I typically go to cater to a fairly diverse ethnic group, so one would think large sizes would be desirable. Yet we are limited to only some styles, much fewer than what can be found in the 10 and under aisles. Those of you that do have a wider selection should feel fortunate. When I go on-line and find something I like and use the find in store feature, the stores that will have it in a 12 are few and far between. I would have thought the store in downtown Chicago would stock about everything in 12 given the market it caters to, but even there, the selection is limited. And I'm not about to drive all over the area to find two styles in a 12 when the stores are 50 miles apart. And that brings me to two other stores that have been a disappointment. Kohls in the Chicago area has stopped carrying size 11, period. Only available on line. I stop in on occasion just to see if maybe they changed their minds, but still no 11s. I don't shop there much any more. And Target used to have a great selection of styles in store, and basically everything to 11. In addition, the on-line site had many, many shoes to size 12. Now the stores have a very minimal selection of shoes period - maybe five or six styles of heels period (though they do carry size 11), and the 12s have about vanished from the on-line site. So for those who say that the selection and availability of large sizes is improving, I have to say my experience is just the opposite. Unfortunately..........

  3. Bluejay and Steve, that is interesting, as the Payless stores in the Chicago area typically only carry a sampling of their overall selection in size 12. Difficult to find a wide variety in any particular store. They are planning to reopen a store in my general area that they are calling "the largest Payless in the market area". What I find a bit disconcerting, and I know I mentioned this elsewhere, but they have a sign in the window that says "Feet come in all different size, out shoes do too" and then a note that says Women's Sizes 5 through 11, no mention of 12 at all. It will be interesting to see what that "biggest selection in the area" means in terms of sizes.

  4. ton, nice black patent pumps. I've been looking for a pair like that, but the pointed toe pumps don't seen too friendly for my rather wide feet, so no purchases to date. Happyfeat, surprised to hear your local Nine West doesn't have much in 11. I can get just about any shoe they have in an 11 at the store, it's the 12 that I need (of course!) that they don't have much of. And Fatfuzz, a very nice selection. I like the classic low cut of the Steve Maddens. Looks like those would be comfortable to walk in. Tried these on at Payless today. They actually fit pretty decent, but they were difficult to walk in. I don't know if the heel is too high for me, or if it is just how they are shaped/how the heel is set. In any event, they looked nice, but I couldn't see myself spending much time in them the way they felt. Too bad.

  5. Stopped at Nordstrom Rack on Friday. Was always a great place to shop, as the selection of size 12 shoes was extensive. They even were carrying a selection of size 13s. Well, as of this most recent trip, the selection of size 11s is down to about what the 12s used to be, and the choice in size 12, which was at least about 1 1/2 aisles worth before, is down to less than 1/2 of an aisle. And the size 13 area is now down to maybe 20-25 pairs. Very sad to see this happening. Hoping it's just this particular Rack store, maybe they just weren't selling enough of the larger sizes in this location. But it's certainly not a good sign. Combined with the most convenient Nine West outlet doing away with size 12 completely, pickings are getting rather slim for those of us that need a 12.

  6. I tend to agree with you on the wedges, Happy. I am not a big fan either, though I must admit that they are somewhat easier to walk in than traditional heels. If my observations are correct, it seems that wedges are, by an overwhelming majority, the style of choice for women. That's about all you see women wearing in my area other than flats or sport shoes. A stiletto sighting is an event to remember...lol. So my guess is that women comment more on the wedges because that is what they prefer to wear themselves. Just an observation in any event. So glad to have you back! You're at a level to which I do not aspire, but certainly do respect!

  7. Happyfeat, how great to see you here again! I really missed reading your adventures and seeing your photos. It was your adventures that prompted me to take that first plunge into wearing the occasional pair of heels in public (albeit not quite to your level...lol). So great to see you posting again! It appeas that your style has really evolved - much more into full dress it appears. Love those sandals in the second set. You've always had a selection of heels that appeal to my taste. Hope all is well with you!

  8. RonC, very cute pumps (loved the bow and the 2-color) and looks really great on you with these stockings! And a nice clicking sound is essential for the overall experience, at least for me.

Thanks gallix. I appreciate the comments. I do enjoy wearing nylons with heels - just adds to the experience in my humble opinion. I had those one under my jeans when I was out shopping. Rather enjoy being able to feel the garter clasps through my jeans and the tug of the garters when I walk. As I indicated, it just adds to the entire heel wearing experience for me.
  9. I know someone beat me to showing these pumps from Payless, but I just bought them today and had to post a few photos. The are reasonably comfortable for me in an 11W, and the heel height is just over 4 inches. But one thing that stands out to me is the sound they make when walking! Something I don't typically notice that often, but these make a great click. I love to see a woman wearing them and strutting her stuff, and be able to listen to that great stiletto click!

  10. I think the reason the heat worked in this instance is because the shoes are not leather, but a synthetic (i.e. plastic) material that, when heated, becomes soft and pliable. If they had been real leather, then it is likely that heat would not have done much, as it doesn't react the same way to heat as the plastic material does. I don't do much housework any more, but I used to vacuum, dust and clean the bathroom and kitchen in heels with some regularity. I've always enjoyed doing the every day, mundane tasks in heels, where I basically forget that I have them on and just go about doing what I'm doing. But then a heel will wobble or I need to kneel down or something and I get the full effect of wearing the heels then. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I simply want to have the experience of wearing heels without really thinking about it, but then being reminded of how great it feels to be in them.

  11. Nice shoes! What size are the two black pair? Assuming that the beige pair are 11s, and you indicate them to be a bit tight, are the black and black/gold pairs size 12? If so, you are very lucky to find such nice vintage shoes in size 12, as that was a very hard size to come by in a decent pair of heels when those were new!

  12. I just bought some new pumps last night. I got them at TJ Maxx. They are Bandolino pink patent pumps. VERY nice! The fit is a bit tight, but i'll loosen them up. As I wear them.

Very nice! Bandolinos are one brand in which a size 11 will often fit me decently. Most others require a 12. What size were these? I don't often find any size 11s at TJ Maxx.
  13. Just got these last week in the mail from Payless.com. If more styles like these were carried in the stores in the larger sizes I would probably be in every week. I also just ordered them in black and white polka dot and I'm holding off on writing a review on the Payless website until those arrive so I can add pictures of both. This is their "Lipstick Bow Pump" in nude. The regular size 13 fits great on me and I like that it's a little stiffer than many of the other Payless styles. The nude is also on sale right now

I've had my eye on those for a while, but haven't been able to find them near me. I guess I could order them, but I really dislike doing that. Wish they would just have them in my size (11W or 12M) in store, but no such luck. I did see something a bit disturbing the other day. One of their stores in my area is being remodeled into what they are claiming will be the largest Payless in the metro area. The sign on the window says something to the effect that - feet come in all sizes, and so do our shoes - and then states Women's Sizes 5 to 11. What happened to size 12? If that's the case, looks like Payless will be out of my loop, though I suppose I could look for 11 wides if they have them.

Those Nine West pumps look great Fatfuzz - can you get a pic with the heel showing? I like the style and they look good on you.

  14. Like you, Jeff, I never would have imagined that I would buy a pair of wedges. While they will never be my favorite style of shoe, I actually have purchased a couple of pairs. One from Nine West was probably the most comfortable shoe I have ever had, and the heel on those was nearly 4 inches. And I also had a pair of Aerosoles sandal style wedges that I wore out a few times. They certainly are easier to walk in, even if the heel is higher. And I think that may be even more so for those of us that weigh a bit more than we should....lol. Anyway, while I will never be a complete wedge convert (and I sure do get tired of see so many women wearing them all the time) I do find styles I like and I'm sure will purchase in the future.

  15. So i come across Debenhams uk and found out they do have a german online store. soo some shopping later i got me these beauties ;)

I ordered Size 43 on the site and when i got them i got a bit worried because on the sole it says UK9 EU42 but they fit very well infact these are the best fitting shoes i own =) and with a heels of 9.8cm they are really easy to walk in.

Quite nice! I love the style with the suede/patent combo and the small bow.

Been having back luck with shoes as of late. I just bought these Nina Floreal style at Shoe Carnival. I tried them on in the store and walked about some, and they seemed to be about the usual size 11s for me - the right foot is tight and the left foot usually fits pretty well. So I took them - on sale at $29. I put them on when I got home, and as soon as I started to take a normal speed stride, I found I was walking right out of the left shoe. I don't know if the upper part of the heel area isn't narrow enough, or if the base of my heel is just too wide for the shoe, resulting in the upper part of the heel being pushed outward so it no longer hugs the foot. In any event, I find I just can't walk in them. Very frustrating, as I've had problems with several shoes I've bought as of late, seeming fine in the store and then not working well at all in normal walking. Platforms are a particular problem - I'm not a big fan to begin with, but the pair of pumps I did buy gave me similar problems with the heels popping off due to the sole of the shoe not bending to match the bend of my toes. I should likely stick with something that has some type of strap around the ankle or instep to keep the shoes from coming off, but me feet aren't really up for sandal styles.

I didnt realize they had carpenters there and already had some work started. It was their ladder. I was just in the neighborhood, they called so I stopped by.

Im fine. Swelling is almost completely gone, using band-aids now instead of gauss. If my foot feels as good as it does right now later in the evening.. Im going to wear those new neon-yellow pumps out on the waterfront for my evening walk ;) .

Glad you're on the mend. Enjoy those yellow babies!
