    • I also recall buying a pair of heels back in the 70's and having the sales girl ask me if I wanted to try them on. Should have taken her up on it then, but as a still young guy who didn;t know the ways of the world, I was much too worried about what she'd think to actually try them on in a store! Horrors, a guy buying heels....lol. I was in a Payless alst week, not the one I frequent but a different location. The clerk came over to the aisle I was in and asked if I needed any help. I said no, I found the sizes I was looking for. She asked if they were for my wife or for me. I calmly said they were for me, and she proceeded to do her sales pitch about stuff on sale without batting an eye. Good for her.
  1. While I could never say that the hidden heels are pointless, I just wouldn't get the same enjoyment from a pair like those shown. While the feeling of height is there, for me at least, there must be a style component that goes with the heel height, and anything that looks like a gym shoe or a hiking boot is not to my personal liking. Too bad, as some of those could absolutely be worn just about anywhere without being noticed!

  2. I noticed those theother day while surfing the DSW site. They only go to size 11, so I'm not quite sure if they would fit, as 11 is generally a bit snug. Can you tell me how the fit is for you in terms of your usual size - are they snug, roomy, or about normal?
  3. What about target or khols? I shop there. a lot of times they have some nice heels. Check clearance sections of tj maxx also.

You must wear a smaller size. The Kohls around me carry no size 11 anymore, and Target has very few. Too bad, as both used to be a good place to shop. Kohls has really pissed me off. I keep checking to see if they have restocked 11s, but no such luck. So I've pretty much stopped buying anything at Kohls. Stupid on their part if you ask me, but I'm not a retailer, so maybe there's things I don;t know.....

  4. Not at all. They stay on quite well.

The other half does have a single sister. 26, blond/blue, size 4. I think Darian wants 50$ USD for her, you pay for import taxes and immigration fees though ;)

Not a problem on the fees, but is the $50 negotiable...lol

  5. Whats really odd about myself is that I can strut like a stripper in classic stilettos. Platforms seem ' clunky ' and heavy on my feet. These arent ' that bad ' but I wish the soles were of regular thickness.

Thanks and I will wear them. I wore them for about 6 hours last night for a walk on the Waterfront and out to dinner.. then another walk afterwards.

I do love the way they look, I think the cork material really sets these off rather nicely. Darian tends to buy me things while shes just out running around or shopping. I do the same for her. Were very considerate of each other and it makes things between us highly compatible/thoughtful.

    Cheers to everyone!

I'm not much for platforms either, but the cork with white does seem like a nice combo on those. Do you have trouble with the platforms pulling off at the heel when you walk? I've tried three different pairs now, and with the obvious exception of a sandal with a quarter strap that held my foot, the others have all pulled off at the heel when I walk - even the pair that was quite snug popped off at the heel. I think I'm done with platforms. BTW, if you ever decide that you no longer want your "other half", tell her I'll be anxiously waiting...lol !

  6. I'll second that! They "are women's heels" despite the styling being off.

Here's an interesting idea. Have a high heels party! Not as if this is NEW, but there's actually a gay club that pulled it off, the link to pictures which can be found here:

Night Fuse for ION AZ; Heel Party @Bar1

Well, other than the campy quotient that several of the party goers possessed, there were a few good looks in there for men in heels. I would enjoy a public party of that type just for the chance to wear heels in a completely non-judgemental setting.

  7. Here's a pair I picked up today at DSW. Lulu Townsend Romy Stripe, $39.99. 4" heels. A bit snug in an 11, but then size 11 is almost always that way for me. Unfoortunately, no 12 available, but if it was, that would likely be too big. Just try finding an 11.5...lol.

  8. My latest red sandal.

It's a jelly sandal from the brazilian brand Melissa.

This model is called Eletric, in galapagos red .

Very nice - I'm not a big platform fan, but those are a great style. And with the ankle strap, the back wouldn't pop off like other platforms I have tried.

Stopped by the local Neiman Marcus outlet and got a pair of ASH pumps. They are black leather with about a 3.5" heel, and are much quieter then my Cole haan pumps. This means they will get worn more often :D

    Great looking pumps!
  9. I much prefer a thin heel, but as others have stated, when I'm out in heels, it's going be in a chunky heel shoe. Just not up for wearing a pair of spike heels, and I also don't think they look real good on a heavier body such as mine. In a perfect world, however, see my avatar!

  10. Thank you for the kind words and questions! Yes, these are easy to walk in and very comfortable, they could have provided a bit more traction on the outsole but thats something easily added. FYI, these are available up to size 41 which might work out for those with a wider foot. Thanks again!

This spectacular pair was waiting for me when I got home and couldn't wait to be shared! Here is Cassie from Shutz in a color we don't see much, jade patent! This shoe is of high quality full leather construction, so supple! Absolutely beautiful with a perfect almond toe box, low cut vamp and tall heel measuring in at 4 3/4". Comfortable, fun and instantly one of my favorites!

These are quite nice! I also very much like the toe cleavage. Interesting color!

  11. Greetings RonC :-)

Nice shoes but I think they are too large for your feet.

Looking at your pictures, I clearly see a gap between the back of the shoe and your heel.

No wonder why they don't stay on your foot.

Next time, I suggest you try a smaller size so there is no gap.

You may also ask for nylon socks in the store before putting them on.

I do understand what you're saying, and they likely are a bit too long. The true problem is I would likely wear an 11 1/2, but try finding THAT size...lol. I also think that if the shoe was a wide width, I could likely size down as well and still get a reasonable fit. But as I mentioned in my post, I previously had a pair with a small platform that were a size 11 medium, which, believe me, were plenty tight on my foot. I bought those without trying them on, and was sorry, as I could not wear them long before the tightness became an issue. But even those, with the small platform, would pop off at the heel when I walked in them. So I think that either my foot or the way I walk is not a good fit for a platform sole. Maybe I could find something with an in-step strap that would hold them on, but I don't believe that would be really comfortable either. I'm hoping that the platform trend will slow down soon, as I'm finding very few heels without a plat these days, unless I want just a plain pump, which I don't need more of.

  12. Well, a different Nine West store with better results. There is an outlet store in Chicago at 2739 N Clark St. They had a very nice selection of size 12s. I would say at least half of the styles in the store were available in a 12. And there were some additional closeout racks, which when I first looked didn't have much in 11, much less 12. But then I glanced again at a table full of shoes in boxes at the back of the store, the one with the big Size 12 sign that I didn't see to begin with  . While there were not a plethora of styles on the table, there were probably 15 different shoe styles avaialble in size 12 at the modest price of $19.99. If you're in the Chicago area, stop by there before they're sold out. Too bad so many were platforms, but that is the style of the day I guess. As I said in the Who Has Bought Some New Shoes post today where I posted the photos, I just cannot keep the back of a platform shoe on my foot, and it's no fun walking when the shoe keeps coming off. Oh well, only $20. Sad part is, I did try them on...I guess I just didn;t do enough walking, or not at a fast enough pace like, oh, you know, a slow stroll....lol.

  13. Picked these up today at a Nine West outlet store. Wonderful price of only $19.99 on sale. They are black suede with a 4 3/4 inch heel. The look great, and seemed fine taking short steps in the store when I tried them on. However, once I got home and put them on and started walking in them, the hidden platform keeps the sole from bending at all, and the back of the shoe will not stay on my foot. This is my second attempt at a platform sole, and I believe it will be my last, as I just cannot keep the damn things on my foot. I think the extra sole under the forefoot helps relieve pressure on the ball of the foot, but I just can't walk in these things without the showe flopping off in the back. And it is not the size that creates the problem (though I admit these seem a bit long), because the last pair was actually about a half size too small and fit very snugly, yet if I tried to walk at anything approaching a normal pace, they popped of in back as well. I've never been crazy about the look of a platform, but I thought these looked pretty nice, as it's a hidden platform and it's likely no more than a 1/2 inch or so. But geeze, I need something I can walk in, and these aren't it! Glad they were only $20. Next time I'll do a better test walk in the store.

  14. These have been around for a while. The sad part is, the patent heels she has on toward the end are not a pair of the convertible shoes. Those are a different pair of pantent pumps with a normal heels. Pretty bad when they don;t even use the real product in the advertising!

  15. Howdy All!

I stopped by my favorite Bakers store and bought these "CECILIA" wedge sandals in light tan and in a size US 10. I tried them on and walked around a bit in the store and decided they were good shoes that could be slightly modified. When I got home I simply added an extra hole on the ankle strap and the size 10 is now not so snug as before. Despite the description the wedge heel measures a full 6"/15cm tall which is fine with me! Hope you like.

Happy, just wondering if you've been to Gurnee Mills lately. I happened to be working in the area last week so I made plans to stop in and check out some favorite stores. Much to my dismay, the Nine west outlet is gone. I could always count on them for some heels in my size 11-12. Then went to Naturalizer, another store where I could typically find larger sizes, and they had like 5 pairs of size 11 in the entire store, and I did not see a 12. Went tot he newer Off Broadway shoes, and they also had a very limited selection of 11s and no 12s at all. Finally, one of my favorites for large sizes was always the Burlington Facotry Shoe Store. It too is gone, and something called, I belive, Shoe Department Last Chance is also gone. WOn;t be wasting my time going to Gurnee Mills anymore! Just curious, is that the Bakers you frequent? I was going to go in there withthe intent of trying something, but they just don't have anything that is to my taste (not a platform fan, and that is litterally all I saw there.)

  16. RonC,

I've found that the Nine West Outlet stores closer to urban areas tend to carry larger sizes. I was talking with the manager of my local store and she said she has requested more styles in larger sizes.

Very interesting! I am in the Chicago area, so it's not like a small town. There are two Nine West outlets in the area. The one farther away from me historically had few size 12s. Last time I was there, that remained true, only maybe two styles in the store in a 12. The one that is closer at one point had nearly every style in the store available in a 12. Time before last when I went (about two months ago), I noticed a decline in numbers and tought it was mainly because the winter shoes were being cleared out to make way for summer styles. But last week, there were very few 12s, and as noted, the salesman said they were phasing them out do to limited sales. I have a hard time believing that a paid or two in 12 woudl take up so much space that sales would suffer, you know what I mean?

  17. Had a great but troubling experience at Nine West today. I went to my local outlet store to shop for some new heels. The store clerk/manager came over to ask if he could help, and I said I was looking for bigger sizes, 11 and 12. The sad part is that, after having had a great selection of 12s in this store over the past year or so, he told me that they a phasing out 12s because they weren't selling enough of them. That is really a shame. Not enough of us guys shopping there I guess..lol. The nice part, however, was that he went through the store helping me to spot any shoes that were available in 12, and certainly didn;t mind me shopping and trying stuff on in the store. A very nice experience with the salesperson, but I'm quite saddened by the change in policy regarding size 12s. Too bad.

  18. Hello again folks! Its been a while since my last purchase but I just received these beauties in the mail today and thought to share. For your consideration, an exquisite pair from Badgley Mischka, style Ina in taupe. These feature a notably high 5" stiletto heel and beautiful floral rosette detail to the vamps. Classic overall silhouette with an upper of quality textile material, almond toe box and leather sole. From reviews I've read, these shoes give many wearers difficulty because of the towering heel but are just too jaw dropping gorgeous to pass up. Feel free to ask if there are any questions and thanks for letting me post!

Fumikaheels, outstanding style as always! I have found, however, that I can't handle heels of that height! Nice to look at, however...lol!

Geeze, I goota figure out why my avartar photo isn;t posting. I'm certainly not a Crocs person!
