  1. I love the "Music Speaks" slogan on the wall.  Her 3" heels are a good blend of stylish and comfortable.  Maybe I'm just getting old but I wouldn't want to stand and conduct for an hour in 5" stilettos.

It was pointed out by a choir member that my shoes were noticeably higher. This was on the first day we met her, and neither the comment nor the fact that I was wearing fairly giant heels seemed to faze her a bit. As I get to know her better, I might have another shoe buddy!

You may indeed have a shoe and musical (does she know you play cello) buddy.  But if the goal was to faze her, try singing a quarter tone flat. :penitent:

I find it amazing once you overcome the inner headspace voices just how easy it is to do as youd like and how little  anyone notices or cares.

As for the headspace voices, I think we should pay attention to them.  Remember how exciting it was to the first time you wore heels in public.  The excitement came from those headspace voices screaming that this was the wrong thing to do and that people would ridicule you for doing it.  Gradually those voices quieted (or gave up) and wearing heels became an enjoyment and less exciting.  I still listen to my headspace voices when they say things like, "You really don't want to go in there wearing a skirt or in jeans for that matter".  I sure @JeffB listens to his saying, "You can't wear those things together".  I do wonder what @CAT's voices tell him.:penitent:

We should listen to our headspace voices but we should be willing to challenge them.  If we don't we will never be different from out great grandparents, grandparents, parents...   Women would never wear pants or vote, men would only wear white shirts, and nobody would wear heels.

  3. Most of my pictures are taken with a 10 second timer in my camera.  I don't normally mess with a tripod rather I have a couple of locations with a convenient flat spot to hold the camera.  For close ups I hand hold the camera an position it so it does not cast a shadow.  There are often some contortions involved in doing this and usually required several tries. One nice thing about digital cameras is that the film is cheep.  When I was shooting outdoor videos, I used a tripod, set up the scene, started the camera, perform the scene, then edited the whole thing later.  This took about four times longer than if I had had a helper.:penitent:

Second pair I'm posting are by Novo Madison sadly they are size 9:-(, wish they were a 10 but really hard to find,  and yes! They are small. I tried to stretch them but synthetic material doesn't budge a bit, hopefully if I keep wearing them it'll somewhat stretch them . Tried them on with black leggings and a long dress. You can see the back/heel caves in

You might try the trick I used in this post for a pair of boots one size too small:  Wedge Tip

There great looking boots, I wish they had fit better.

This is my first post of me actually wearing boots outside(really it's inside the car).

Just bought these babies and they are so ridiculously comfortable. They're by Rubi Size 41 and true to size. Abs love em!!

Cool boots and they do look comfortable!

Now you don't want to mess them up by getting out of the car. :penitent:

I'm surprised that no-one has commented on this encounter, so I will.   A (female) fellow musician who wears thigh and chap boots and you weren't interested in pursuing the conversation (or her)?   I would have thought that such a kindred spirit would be worth at least a chat over coffee?

The thought crossed mind but she was not the type of person I wanted to spend time with (boots or not).

As for showing my face... Everyone I know knows I wear boots and most know I wear skirts (and if they don't they wouldn't be surprised).  I started posting full pictures back in 2007.

  7. First    Welcome to the forum!

There are folks here that are into locking ones self into shoes and I'm sure they will be able to offer some good advice.

I'm not a fan of being locked into anything but if you want a very inexpensive technique for making shoe hard to get off, try a squirt of super glue in the shoe just before you put it on. :penitent:

Like I said I'm sure there are some folks here that will have a better solution and again welcome to the forum.

  8. In the first video "Diapason Channel" (Diapason is a type of organ pipe) the heels are probably coming in handy as she plays a four note chord in the pedal.  Rarely in the organ literature is more than one not played at a time.  By the way AGO stand for American Guild Organist.  You have to be good to be invited to play for an AGO gathering.

In the second video, Bach (and I'm embarrassed that I can't identify the piece) the camera angle shows her pedal work.  For folks that don't play the organ, please note that not only is she not watching her hands, she is not watching her feet.  Just like a keyboard is standardized, so is the pedal board both in size and in placement (known as an AGO pedal).   If you can play one instrument you can play another.  This was not the case before AGO defined the pedal size and placement.  I help on an organ rebuilding project where we had to move the pedal almost 8" to get it to conform to the standard.

  9. I was busking at the Essex Art Studio's Art walk last night.  I wore this outfit but with a leather coat rather than the vest.

    GEDC1377.jpg.f27f52250e4eed3847eb0138514a69c2.jpg

Before I started playing I walked through the studio and got a couple "I like your boots" from passerbys.  I did have on the tallest boots of anyone in the place and I only saw one other pair of heels that matched mine.

I will be busking again tonight and I'm planning on wearing my red boots just to attract a little more attention. :penitent:

    :wavey:

    An note about busking:

Three souls appeared before St.Peter at the pearly gates.  St.Peter asked the first one, "What is your last annual salary?"  The soul replied, "$200,000 I was a trial lawyer."  St,Peter asked the same question the the second one and he replied,"$90,000 I was a realtor.".  St.Peter asked the third soul the same question.  The answer was $8,000.  St.Peter immediately said, "Cool, what instrument did you play?" :penitent:

I forgot to mention the shoes are Pleaser Domina 415, in at the deep end eh?

Great shoes!  Are you comfortable wearing that high a heel (both physically and mentally)?

I certainly don't see me going out and about presenting as a female at anytime,

That statement needs a little further explanation... With closer examination of @CAT's pictures you will note he presents himself as a male (that wears skirts, fishnets, and thigh boots).  When I go out I generally present myself as a male with a little makeup in jeans or skirts and boots.  Also, take a look at @JeffB's presentation, again as a male.  The idea is to make a presentation you are comfortable with, and enjoy.  I don't look too bad in a business suit but I sure don't enjoy it (and haven't worn one for many years).

but as you can see from the pics of the shoes below we had a play last Saturday evening at home!

Ah, a new definition of "home theater".  Care to share the plot?  Is your friend your photographer?

  11. Welcome to the forum!

The big thing about going out and about in heels is that you are comfortable in the image you are presenting and yeah, that practice thing comes in handy too.  It is good that you went out and that she accompanied you but a dark place at midnight is not the best place to wear heels.  I'm sure most of us started that way but it is the most dangerous way to go heeling.  The best is in a busy public space...Library, Museum, Restaurant...where people are too busy to notice your heels, and really don't care what you have on your feet.

I recommend going out wearing boots with a 4" or less heel with your new partner so you can both see that you can wear what you like.  It would be even better if you both had a matching pair.

Again welcome to the forum, and enjoy your heels.

  12. Well red does seem to evoke comment.  I've mentioned before that a lot of the effort/stress  of freestyling is getting used to seeing yourself wearing something "different".  I'm getting used to wearing red boots.  Today's outfit was not "well planned".  I was wearing jeans and a sweater and it was cold enough for a heavy coat and the choice was black or red boots.  To my surprise the red ones won.

I needed to go to my nail salon but had a banking stop on the way.  I walked into the lobby of the bank and was waiting for a teller to become available when I woman at one of the tellers turned toward me and announced to the bank that , "I sure like your boots".  I thanked her and walked to the teller thht had become available.   After I finished I did notice several heads were turned as I walked out of the bank.

The next stop was the nail salon where those folks are quite used to seeing me wearing anything (jeans, skirts, dresses) with OTH and thigh boots with 4-5" heels.  Nobody even batted an eye.

The last stop was my favorite thrift store where a lady customer commented, "I really like your boots.  I can't wear them anymore".  I thanked her and headed for the checkout where my favorite clerk was there sporting a new hair styling and I complemented her on it and she said, "I really like those red boots".  I told her I was playing tonight and couldn't decide whether to wear them or not.  Without hesitation she said, "Go for it".

I'm still deciding if I should go for this much attention or dial it back just a bit and wear the taupe pair.  In the past I have worn thigh boots with 5" stiletto heels to this venue.

. I mean, I've never worn thigh highs

You really should give a pair a try.  There is nothing like the great feeling and they are available now with a more conservative heel.  Even I admit that thigh high with stiletto heels a re a bit much. :penitent:

Yes, some of he best seafood I've had was at a place with picknic tables half sunk into the beach sand :)

no dress code, but not a good place for stilettos either.

Or any shoes/boots that would be affected by salt water.  You have finally described a venue where flip flops would be appropriate (I don't believe I just wrote that  :penitent:).

but this will make the experience of getting these and showing them off that much more significant!

Glad to hear the showing them off is part of your game plan.  Sounds like a good excuse (as if you needed one) for taking your wife to dinner.  If she had a similar pair it would make a great presentation.

That's how I came up with the 4" increase in height.

When you have some spare time... stand flatfooted in a doorway with a ruler on your head and have someone mark your height on the door-frame then repeat it wearing your 5 1/2" heels.  What is the distance between the two marks?

Those boots look great under your pant leg but they look fantastic over it.  Are they for out and about wear?  They are great boots and you should show them off.  With a heel that narrow, watch out for any walking surface imperfection (sidewalk crack).

I agree, the Red does look good. It just needs a Red Blouse and Red Hose to make it complete........:oops:

Yeah, and a red blinky light on my hat and a fire hose under my arm.:penitent:

Red seems to go a long way.  I've gotten more askance looks wearing red than anything else.  I wore this today to go to the pharmacy and the grocery store.

Several folks at the grocery "noticed" but no one said anything.  A lot of red is not something to wear if you want to blend into the crowd (unless it's this crowd or this one).

Just doing the math quickly, I am guessing that those shoes give me right around 4 extra inches of actual gain in height, because of the platform.

Your height is measured from the ground to the top of your head.  If your heel raises you 5 1/2", your 5 1/2" taller, regardless of the platform.  The platform just changes the angle to which your ankle must conform.

I think the reaction you have gotten from your co-workers ("Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch") is a sign of the respect they have for you.  However, I would expect if a discussion ever turns to your or a co-workers height, you should expect a good natured comment like "Yeah, but you should see him in his heels" which will be another opportunity for your "busted" line.
