I was planning to order a 14 but I don't want them to look huge clown heels

Clown shoes don't normally have that high a heels and are a little wider. :penitent:  If you wear a 14 be glad they come in that size but by all means get a shoe that fits. I had an uncle that wore a 7, but an 8 felt so good he bought a 9, and an aunt that insisted she wore a 7 whether her foot fit into the shoe or not.

  2. I played a gig last night at a Restaurant in Clifton Oh. (University of Cincinnati part of town).  I wore a black turtleneck, white jeans, and black OTK boots with a 4" block heel.

As we were hauling equipment in I got an "Ooh I like your boots" from a total stranger.  I thanked her and kept going hauling the PA system.  We got there at 6:00 and set up and started playing from 7:00-9:00 where we packed all the stuff up and headed back to out cars.  On the way out I got an "I like your shoes" from an young lady.  Again I thanked her and continued hauling stuff.  For the most part I was standing from 6:00-9:00.  The boots are "It's Ok" Maura in a size 12 and were surprisingly comfortable.

In seeing the picture I am surprised at the contrast I presented to the rest of the group (the white jeans have a lot to do with that) and the additional 4" of height.  The only problem was that there are holes in the floor under the carpet that are large enough to swallow a heel.  Many in the audience were friends that have seen me in boots for years so no one was surprised.

All in all I had a great time.

For any audio folks - We used three condenser microphones with a BOSE PA in front of us, and did not plug in the acoustic guitars.  Note the tilt of the mike on the right.  It was intentional to balance the vocal and guitar.   This is the first time we have tried this and it worked well.  The real trick will be to do a show with only one mike and control the balance by moving in and out but there was too much room noise to have the mikes that sensitive.

@jeremy1986 and @Gudulitooo - Thanks for the comments on the hair.  I don't wear it all the time but it is getting easier.

@HappyinHeels - Thanks for the comment.  I'm not sure what your seeing is a transformation, rather than an evolution.  I seem to have the same problem with wedges that I do with pumps, I flunk the full length mirror test.  You know what they say about beauty and the eye of the beholder.  I'm not suggesting that beauty is involved, but the principal is the same.  As for the smooth legs, it is a natural feature.  I don't do anything to them.

  3. The only head to toe review I have gotten recently came when I was wearing leggings and flats.  It doesn't seem to happen when I'm wearing boots.:penitent:

Both pair look nice.  My preference runs towards the solid color.

Don't know if it was genuine or ridicule.

You were a customer and sales folks do not ridicule customers and retain their employment.

I still couldn't believe myself that I was actually doing it! All the other women didn't even seem to notice me/act like I was there at all.

Hard to believe what many other folks have been posting for a long time is really true...but then it's on the web so it has to be true. :penitent:

I ended up buying a pair of knee high boots

And I'm sure the sales staff appreciated it.  Some pictures would be appropriate. :camera:

If you have really been bitten by the shoe bug, trying on shoes in a shoe store is really a fun experience.  If it wasn't, there wouldn't be so many shoe stores.  Since the Wittner outlet folks treated you so well, and had shoes you liked, pay them a visit again and this time you can do it without reservations.

My premise is if you want to wear your heels to work, you got to first wear them outside the house.  I know there are some situations and professions where heels are not appropriate, hey I mow my lawn in my running shoes even though stilettos help aerate it. I think I am old enough to not care.

I'm now retired but the last 2-3 years of working I wore knee high boots with 2-3" block heels under my pants every day.  I now have a pair of beat up knee high boots with 3" block heels that I wear over jeans or with shorts when I cut grass, but, in the past, I have aerated my lawn by cutting grass in stilettos thigh boots (the stilettos sticking in the ground makes cutting grass in stiletto pumps impractical :penitent:).

I have a couple pair of wedges but I still am not comfortable seeing myself wearing them... maybe when the temps get into the 90sF (33C).

  6. Great look JeffB... proper prior planning strikes again.

I passed a black gentleman in his forties who grinned at me and said, "Hey, there! You look good in that skirt, mon!" No, I didn't misspell that last word as he had a thick Jamaican accent, I smiled back and thanked him for the kind words. In the distance, I heard him say, "Damn! Look those heels!"

I don't know about Jamacian culture, but could he have been from New Orleans where a guy in a skirt might not be that unusual (especially in mardi gras)?

May is looking to be a cool month (temperature wise) so there is still an opportunity to put aside the slides until temps warm up again and rediscover how much fun thigh boots are. :penitent:

nothing like Kate Beckinsale in skin tight black leather to get the motor running!

I rather like this look as a motor starter: Kate in boots.

Great look JeffB.  I'll fall back on my earlier observations that at first glance your image reads as female.  The fact that you are careful in matching your outfits makes the read even more so.  Well done.

Welcome to HHPLACE.  I'm a little late in this post as you have already blended in with the rest of the gang.  It is intriguing having the perspective of a full time heel wearer.

    Was that a haiku?

    Nah, just a clunky poem.

"Haiku" is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme.

  11. I wear a women' US 12 so DSW doesn't have too much to offer me.  Last year I stopped in at the end of boot season and found a pair of lace up knee high boots in a 12 on the discount rack but they were still a little more than I wanted to spend.  I told a manager I didn't want to spend that much for the boots and he said he couldn't change the price but he could change the discount rate, which he did and I bought the boots.  There was no doubt in anyone's mind that the boots were for me (I was wearing a dress) and everyone was cool with that.  A sale is a sale.

  12. @Dutchbootman - Welcome to the forum.  There are lots of boot lovers here.

I have a lot of boots, but I'm finding the OTK length is a little more practical for out and about wear than thigh length.

So as people grow older, they don't care so much what others do, or what others might think

I'm not so sure about that...us old folks can be pretty set in our ways. :penitent:  The trick is to like boots and heels before you get old.

  13. I posted my opinion several pages back but let me have one more go at it.

I've been a member of this board for a long time and my first post was in a thread on thigh boots the gal's section (long before the rule was in place).  Over the years we haven't had too many gals posting but often those that did were met with male chauvinistic or crude comments.  The rule was put in place to give the gals a "safer" place to post.  Most of the guys doing that kind of posting have either dropped off or have been banned, but times and attitudes have changed so the rule may be obsolete.  I suspect if the gals had invaded the "For the Guys" forum with the same type of comments, there would be a matching rule about gals posting in the guys forum, but they didn't and the guys did so we only needed one rule.

I really do appreciate the civility on this forum that the users maintain and that @Techenforces, and I think that most of the folks that have posted here for a while also appreciate it.  As I said, times have changed and the rule may now be obsolete but we are still attracting new members and the rule stands as a reminder of lessons learned the hard way, so I think it should be retained.

I have, after the rule was implemented, errantly replied to a post in the gals forum.  When I realized what I had done, I clicked the Report Post button at the top of the post and left a message that it was an errant post and please delete it (with a promise to be more careful in the future :penitent:).

Wearing heels and carefully stepping down from my soapbox... TBG
