  1. I found a pair of new brown faux suede OTK boots with a flat heel and no zipper at an attractive price.  The top has a fold down cuff and the shaft is tight enough to be work with leggings or hose (not jeans).  Unfortunately they are a size 11 and I wear a 12-13.  I took a chance that they would be large but alas they were true to size.  I thought about altering the boots to accommodate my feet but tried a different approach.  I have another pair of boots that look like they are too little for me but they fit because there is an internal wedge so I thought why not.  I cut a wedge from 1 1/2" foam insulation, which is fairly strong stuff, and put it in the heel.  I took a couple of tries to get the arch support right but, to my surprise, this worked fairly well.  I will still have to make some adjustments to make the wedge fills the whole heel space and does not move around when I'm putting on the boots, but I'm now wearing a size 11 pull on boots.

@Peter1 - Nice boots.  They look like an all terrain boot, but I think I'd try to keep them clean. :penitent:

To hold on the additional piece at the heel and to make a smooth surface I used the Handyman's Secret Weapon (Red Green Show), Duct Tape.

    Addendum:

After wearing the boots for several hours with the wedges, the seem to have stretched enough for me to wear them without the wedge.  The technique seems to be a good way to break in a tight fitting pair of boots.

  2. Great vid and thanks for sharing.

The look you are presenting is fine. As for the walking, you manage your heels well but, you still walk like a guy.  I have the same problem and I appreciate the difficulty of changing something you have done for your whole life.

My suggestion is to shorten your stride (take smaller steps) and don't land so hard on your leading foot.  Try walking just a little slower and reducing the bounce in your walk.  Compare your video at 00:05-00:09 with the one miroseplant provided at 00:03-00:05.  The gal manages a long stride but her shoulders remain level.

I didn't know you could upload a .mov and an attachment.  Thanks for the idea.

  3. These are the Leslie boots by It's Ok from shoeshow.com that I got several months ago. The boots looked great when worn with jeans but the shaft was too large to be worn without jeans.  Since I have a second pair in black and another in gray that I can wear with jeans, I ran this pair through the sewing machine and took about 3" out of the shaft by running a seam down the inside of the back from the top to the middle of the zipper.  I now have a tight fitting pair of boots that I can wear with leggings or hose. (and yeah the shirt sure is pink. :penitent:)

  4. I have discovered an incentive for loosing weight.  For me the incentive is skirts but shorts or pants would work.  I normally wear a size 14 but I found that buying a 12, which I could barely fasten, limited the amount of food I could eat, and really looked good.  Keep in mind I buy skirts at a thrift store so if one is really unwearable I'm only out $4.  When the 12s start to fit I'll move to 10s (there may be a bit of wishful thinking there).

Wild indeed!  To where and with what will you wear them?

I'd avoid going out in the jungle with them on as some large furry feline creature may find you too attractive. :penitent:

  6. I have a thought on taking care when we speak.  I try to be articulate and clear on my meanings but...

In my last post I mention that I stopped at Home Depot for some paint stripper.  I used the stripper today on a book shelf and the following phrases kept going through my mind:

    •  This is the best ten dollar stripper I ever saw.
    •  The stripper sure did take it off fast.
    •  Getting the stripper into a corner was tough.
    •  Working the stripper into the ogee was fun (without letting the slightest hint of an "r" get into ogee).
    •  I just spent three hours stripping.
    •  It was difficult stripping in a tight space.

I have never liked the term "stripper boots" but these phrases become particularly "interesting" when you yourself are wearing tight fitting thigh boots with 5" stiletto heels. :penitent:

but there's always that small niggling doubt in my head

Either you like your look, or you don't.  If you don't like the image looking back at you in a mirror, don't let anyone else see it.  If you do like it, then show it off with confidence.  If you worry about someone seeing your shoes, that is all you will do and you won't have a bit of fun.  In fact I'll recommend you carry TUMS with you to settle your stomach.

People will see your shoes!  They won't care, but they will see them.  Treat you shoes like your shirt, coat, sweater,... "This is what I'm wearing and I think it looks good."  Folks will respect that attitude, you won't need the TUMS, and you will have a great time.

hopefully it won't be too obvious!

No one and I mean no one  will notice those flats, especially in black.  They do look comfy.

Take small steps toward your goal of public heeling and keep pushing your own self imposed boundaries.  Eventually you will realize that few notice and nobody cares what you have on your feet.

  9. I visited my doctor today to review my blood test.  I'm doing fine.  I have always worn boots on these visits, in fact there was only one visit where I wore flats because of my pooky ankle.  With that exception, I don't think he has ever seen my not wearing thigh boots.  On my last visit I told him I liked cross dressing and he asked me how far I went with it so this time I wore  gray below the knee skirt with taupe OTK boots with 4" block heels and  taupe turtleneck with a short leather jacket.

    GEDC1428.jpg.9bf1e85ad5d075bc7f76df1f4dba5285.jpg

The waiting room was full and several folks nodded a greeting but I didn't notice even one askance look.  The nurse called me and we headed back to the exam room and got weighed along the way (down 10 pounds [4.5K] and a size 12 fits nicely).  While she was taking my blood pressure she said, "I'd just love to see your boot collection".  We talked about boots and shoes for a minute (like she does this with every patient).  I told her that I had told the doctor I dressed this way and this time I thought I'd show him.  That got a laugh.

The doctor came in and didn't miss a beat.  We went over my test results, checked my ankle and shoulder and pronounced me fit.  He asked if I had any problems with depression and I said, "Seriously, yeah I do...Trump".  He just shook his head and laughed.

I then told him that I was concerned that some days the desire to dress as I am is almost overwhelming and other days the desire isn't there at all.  He asked if I was happy/content dressing and I said I was.  After a little discussion his bottom line was that I was happy and not having religious or moral reservations, and no one stoned me (his exact words) he say no reason I shouldn't continue.  He didn't offer an opinion of why the desire comes and goes.

The doctor ordered one more blood test which I could have taken at his office, but it was more fun to run over to the hospital for the test.  Again I had a long walk in.  After registering I headed to the outpatient area where I was immediately recognized and warmly greeted.  The same lab tech took me back for the test but this time a nurse tagged along and she made a point of admiring my boots.   The three of us chatted and had a good time before I walked back to my car.

There is a DSW shoe store near the hospital and I stopped in but couldn't find anything in a 12 and I wasn't interested in any of the 11s.  There was a pair of beautiful ALDO OTK boots but only in a 6,7 & 8.

The next stop was my favorite thrift store where I found a nice knee length black flared skirt for $2 and a brown/gray silk Bergdorf Goodman skort in a 14 with the $165 new price tag still attached also for $2.  The skort is missized and is probably an 8/10 but I know a friend that can wear it.  I'm looking for clothing that is a little less @CATish that I can wear anywhere (nothing wrong with the style but I already have lots of stuff that pushes my boundaries/limits).

The last stop was Home Depot for some paint stripper.  A sales associate took me to the shelf and recommended one.  On the way to the register a different sales associated asked me if I needed help finding anything (first time that has happened) and at the register the young lady running the register commented that she really liked my boots.

On the way home, I stopped on the side of the road several times and got out with my camera on a tripod and took some "B" roll footage of several streams.  That invites passing comments but, I got none.

All in all it was a fun outing and I really am feeling more comfortable in a skirt.

  10. I am not a regular Saturday Night Live viewer but the show regularly lampoons the Trump press secretary Sean Spicer. This week at at 5:15 into this routine Melissa McCarthy, the actress playing Spicer, takes on Nordstroms dropping Ivanka Trump's clothing and men in heels. :penitent:

Maybe I'll go out next weekend without the wig, as you said going out as a female takes a lot of work and I dont know how to use make up (nor plan on spending my money on all of those things haha, I rather use that money to keep buying high heels as I still have some pairs on my wishlist)

Ahh starting from the ground up (shoes) sound like a plan. :penitent:

I'm gonna start practicing, take videos of myself walking inside the house, because I definitely want to try again

Good plan.  Make sure the video captures your whole body (like a full length mirror) so you can see your walk and all the other movements and do this dressed as you would going out so you can see the whole image.

Practice, practice, practice and confidence, confidence, confidence.

It looks to me like your weight is falling not on your heel and ball of your foot but in front of the ball, and the arrow's position is assuming you can straighten your knee.  I had a pair of 6" single sole heels that fit my feet but all I could do, after considerable effort, was stumble around in them.  I suggest your shoes are for feeling good to wear and having fun in while not walking.  Give yourself a chance to enjoy walking in feels and get a lower heel.

That picture hurts just to look at it.  I sure it is a great feeling but to quote many folks that have seen me in 5" heels, "I don't see how you can walk in those heels".  Can you walk in them?

  15. Looks good JeffB!  I do like those booties.  However, I was expecting this jaunt to be about your mushing through the snow in your thigh boots.

I've been amazed at how much "stuff" I manage to get into the small bag I've been carrying for a long time now.  I shudder think what I'd wind up packing into a bag that large. :penitent:  Ah, moderation in all things (except boots).

  16. Wow, it sounds to me like your going at this the hard way.  I would suggest wearing your booties, jeans coat and turtleneck and stop at that.  Present yourself as a guy in heels.  First check in a full length mirror to be sure you really like the look you are presenting, and if you do then go for it.  If you really like the look you can present it with confidence and people will respect that confidence.

Nothing.  Maybe a friendly smile and nod.

I Like women clothes as much as heels, but as I'm short and very slim guy (5'8" 135lbs)I think I can pass as a woman and draw less attention or have the complete look haha.

Congratulations if you have the physical makeup to pull of going out as a female but this takes a LOT of work.  Not only do you have to learn to walk in your heels but you have to do everything differently.  You shouldn't avoid makeup as it is the key to looking female.

    It was very hard and I was very very nervous (felt my heart beating very very fast) and hesitated a lot to step out of my car;

That step is always the hardest the first time you take it.  It took me time minutes to get out of the car the first time I wore my thigh boots into a restaurant.

when I finally went out it was to an atm outside a bank but as soon as I heard any car noise or lights I just went back running to my car haha. I gotta say that this experience was more frightening than exciting, but think that I can Improve, build more confidence

First running in 5" heels isn't a good idea and that kind of sudden movement just draws more attention to yourself.  Your right, the experience should be exciting and not frightening, at least for a while and then the excitement fades because you realize your just wearing your shoes.

As I said earlier the key to going out in heels or as a female is to do it with confidence and this takes practice.

    Enjoy your heels.

  17. President Obama (D) used to good naturedly poke fun at the Speaker of the House, John Boehner (R) for also being a man of color ( Boehner 's was red from overexposure to a sunlamp).  Either the color adjustment on my TV is out of wack or it looks like President Trump is following John Boehner 's lead.

  18. I was literally waiting for some paint to dry and thought I'd give my new boots a spin by going to my favorite thrift store.  I wore the boots with white hose to show off the lacing and a 15" denim skirt.

    GEDC1413.jpg.cf26188daf2c8310a23a660172baefb1.jpg

When I walked in the lady at the counter had a line of twenty people and only managed a quick nod my way.  I took my time browsing (waiting for the line to diminish) when a lady in her 50's, who was a total stranger walked by and said, "OOh, I like your boots".

    "Thanks, I just got them".

"There really nice, I like them" and she kept on shopping.

I checked the lime again and decided to look at the skirt rack where I found a gray below the knee skirt that matched my gray OTK boots and a light gold leather skirt that I thought was outrageous enough for my new boots.

    GEDC1414.jpg.c9e2acbf2e4b5ba7613334bcf0cf5065.jpg

I left the store with two skirts and a bunch of kitchen toys and only $8 poorer.  By the time I got home the paint was dry.

College students can be the most open minded, wonderful people. After all, they are generally young and experiencing new ideas, meeting people from many different backgrounds, and they generally have sufficient free time to be happy and experience life. On the other hand, they can also be real jerks, especially when drinking. And sometimes it swings the other way, even without alcohol

My experience with collage students is as with most groups,"There's strength in numbers",and "Follow the leader".  As many here have noted, most individuals are too wrapped up in their own world to notice anything else, but when you gather those individuals into a herd a leader can take over sometimes with disastrous results.
