with all honestly I can say that I have truly enjoyed each and every moment that I've spent in high heels and am eagerly looking forward to many more.

Wonderful story and thank you for sharing.

I am continually amazed that we survive our youth.

I rather like a man in a suit, but he has to shave properly and, surely, a tie is a must.

I actually have a couple of suits (Jacket and Skirt) and after having worn a beard for years, I now like to be clean shaven and always am when I go out.  As for a tie... I'll wear a scarf but a tie is too much of a reminder of Donald J. :penitent:

  3. ALIEN Invasion of HHPLACE

And the one style that was most alien to me were sandals.

I'm still in the boot camp.

I'm not really comfortable in pumps and I have a tough time wrapping my head around wearing sandals.  However if the 50F temperature swings we have had this winter continue into the spring and summer I may not have a choice but to give them a try. :penitent:

That hasn't stopped Thighbootguy, CAT or Jeff B from wearing any damned thing they please, any time they like, and they seem to be prospering.

and doing well in retirement thank you.  I really never thought I'd be an outlier here at HHPLACE.

TBG is probably the closest to me in execution, and by that I mean that he wears "alternative" clothing every day, rather than saving it for special occasions. Even he admits that there are certain venues where he will not wear certain things. That's because he's a man.

I seem to wear whatever suits me on any particular day.  Some days it's boots and jeans, some it's boots and a dress and sometimes (but not often) I try CD.  My common theme is boots.  There are places I go that won't push past boots and jeans, most of these are musical or church venues where I am playing.  However when I go shopping, I'll wear anything I want as most people don't care what a paying customer is wearing.  I can usually tell if I have pushed my presentation too far on a given day when it comes time to get out of the car.  Most of the time I notice my boots hitting the ground and I take off walking without a second thought.  Other times, while still sitting behind the wheel, I'm thinking, Do you really want to do this?", and this is not always determined by what I'm wearing (but it most often happens when I'm wearing a dress).

All I know is that I'm retired and having more fun than I've ever had before.

the face-cropping thing wouldn't make a bit of sense. Again, if @CAT were a woman, this would simply not be an issue.

I'm not too sure about that. :penitent:

  5. Ahh, all things are relative especially when you say that "lengthy periods of sleet and freezing rain" were a good thing.  I suspect that if your city's snow "removal" is anything like my city's they have just pushed the 5" of snow into collections that are considerably deeper and placed those collections in places where folks have to walk.  Point is thighboots are still appropriate (and warm) footwear. :cheeky:

Lynn Harrell, who is still smooth as glass at age 70. I hope my hands still work 1/10 that well in 20 years.

When you have that much music within it is hard to hold it in even with 70 year old hands.  Did he retune at 6:26 and 7:25?

In Yuja Wang's video the heels are amazing and at 1:10 you will note that most of the women in the audience are wearing boots.  For the audio geeks... the mike is placed in the sweet spot for recording a grand piano.

It seams the boy enjoys getting dressed up. I suggested she take her son to a shoe store for a pair

of high heels. My though is to let her son  experience the experience.

That was a most interesting suggestion you offered the woman and one that never would have occurred to me.  I think I would have suggested letting her son enjoy himself and explore expressing himself.

Spikesmike, you and I grew up in a much different time than today.  I was trying to imagine what it would have been like if any of my friends, at nine years old, had found out my mother had bought me a pair of heels.  I do hope that kid is in a much more tolerant environment than the one in which we grew up.  The fact that his mother knows he likes to dress up probably verifies it.

Not to worry, I don't anticipate going to work on Tuesday, so I'll be safe and sound at home. I've got a full larder, over sixty pounds of rock salt and plenty to do to keep busy while cooped up.

JeffB, that much snow can be stressful so I recommend the following stress reduction techniques, which works better when wearing thigh boots:

Stay safe and don't get your boots salted up.

Now to see what my wife thinks as she is not real fired up on heels for men, but as long as they look more "male" she has given in.

Nice looking boots and they look comfortable.  I hope your wife is happy with your selection.

The choir is sounding noticeably better under her direction

And I'm sure that's good to hear. :cheeky:

I don't mind admitting that I practiced the piece a whole lot more than I would have under the old choir director. I am newly inspired, both musically and fashion-wise.

Inspiration, both musically and fashion-wise is often found in the strangest places.  For me I never thought I'd find a fashion hero (@JeffB), a limit pushing hero (@CAT), and a cello hero all on the same web site.

Seriously, I'm glad you have found a safe place where your music and fashion interests intersect.

With a nor'easter on the way, threatening to dump anywhere between 6 to 12 inches of snow on Tuesday,

Your Pleaser "Vanity" knee boots may not be high enough to go out and shovel snow or to uncover your car after the snow plow goes through.:penitent:  Time to break out the thigh boots.

That snow is expected to be dumped during a four hour period.

Seriously, stay home and be safe.

Choir director was wearing kitten heels, but not a repeat, and not flats! And a short skirt, too!

I didn't think you were supposed to notice that at church. :penitent:  Must have been a dull sermon.

But thanks for sharing.  Does the choir director know you play cello?  I just saw a concert on TV of Bach and Kuhnau works and they featured shots of the first chair cello doing finger dancing.  Wow have I got a looong way to go.  I don't think I have that many years left.

The sudden cold weather has already reached us with a snowstorm approaching. Naturally, there are two new pairs of....sandals.... waiting for me at home.

I suspect Iowa's weather is similar to Cincinnati's.  If you don't like the weather, just wait a day or two.

  14. I went to Sam's to get new wiper blades for my car and a few other items in the store.  I wore a long black turtleneck  with a wide belt, a quilted vest, and black fabric OTK boots with a 4" block heel.

    GEDC1471.jpg.ec5be3aa27c19fbcc5dcc1b560d2a01b.jpg

As I started walking through the store one of the managers walked past me and declared in a noticeably loud voice, "Oh I like those boots".  A few heads turned.    I found my items and noticed a new display of dresses.  The dresses looked like long denim shirts and were displayed worn with leggings.  I took one off the rack and held it up against me to check the length and decided to get it.

After I had the wiper blades installed (installation was included in the price) I headed for my favorite thrift store.   When I walked in one of the customers said, "You should have worn shorts yesterday".  She was right as the temperature yesterday was 70F and today it was 40F (4C) but she must have also seen me yesterday to know that I hadn't been wearing shorts.  Anyway, I saw a knit dress on a mannequin that I liked and asked about it.  The clerk at the register told me to  just go get the dress so I headed back and undressed the mannequin.  There is a first time for everything. :penitent:

  15. From the chorus of the Chad Mitchel Trio's 1965 hit "Draft Dodger Rag" by Phil Ochs:

Sarge, I'm only eighteen, I got a ruptured spleen
And I always carry a purse

Times have changed.  Like @JeffB I always carry a purse and I occasionally still perform that song in boots with a purse.

Well, I have put pictures up before, but can't seem to do it now....Don't know if something on the site changed, or I am just not doing something correctly.  I have a few recent pictures uploaded somewhere on my profile, but can't seem to transfer them to any post/threads.  I will look for any online guidance posted here....

  17. The temperature was 70F (21C) with bright sunshine and I decided to go for a drive.  Ky 8 runs along the Ohio river and I headed west until it ended about a mile past "No Outlet" at the "Beware of Dog" sign at which point I turned around and headed back to civilization.  I wound up on roads I hadn't driven in years and eventually at my two favorite thrift stores.

For the trip I wore a white top with a blue scarf, a denim skirt, and black OTK open lace boots with 4" stiletto heels.  The pointed toe make these boots a little uncomfortable but the look is worth it.  For some reason these boots still give me pause when getting out of the car.

    GEDC1467.jpg.ef607be619bfd79c74a3a872fb6cd102.jpg

At the first thrift store a elderly lady with a cane was coming out and she stopped and looked at me.  I gave her a smile and she said, "Those are nice boots".  I wasn't expecting that all but I thanked her and headed into the store.  The lady at the register commented, "I don't know where you find your boots, but I couldn't walk in them".  I laughed with her and commented that they really are outrageous.

At the second stop (my favorite thrift store), one of the ladies was straightening up clothes in one of the racks (same lady that said I should go for the red skirt).  I asked her what she had that would go with these boots.  She laughed and said they looked nice especially with the skirt (see why I like this store?).

I took the picture out in the parking lot.

By the way the temperature today will be in the low 30'sF (-1C) and tomorrow is expected to be 15F(-9C).:penitent:

  18. Addendum...

I take pictures at the highest resolution available on my camera and then use Photoshop to crop the image.  I store the high resolution cropped image (10M) on my computer.  However, to create an image for posting at hhplace, I resample the image in Photoshop so that it is 7" high at 72 dpi (dots per inch) which generates a file in the 30K range that seems to display well in my browser.

I'd appreciate some feedback if this size is not working for others.
