Also wearing certain shoes makes womens feet change and the lack of muscle tone does not allow 'her' to stand too long in heels. If you don't use it, you lose it.
  2. Skinny jean/pants will never be out of date with knee high boots, unless you want to hide the boots
  3. October is our hot season. It is in the 90's here today on the beach. So, if I went to work today, it might be shorts and knee highs. But it's errands day, so I wore shorts and Steve Madden mules. I now have 7 knee high boots: faux suede, suede, and leather; block heels and stilettos. But why wait till fall, knee highs and shorts is a great summer look too.
  4. Jumping off a form bought back (painful) memories. In the 70's I jumped off a loading dock onto a grass area. However, a water pipe had broken and I jumped into a mud pit. I hurt my ankle. Black and blue from my toes to my waist, but this before MRIs or CAT scans and all they told me was I sprained it. Men's shoes would have me turning my ankle 5 to 6+ times a week, YES A WEEK. I would have to sit down, message it and I would be able to get up and go in a minute or so. 25+ years latter, when they looked into that ankle, they found I had torn my tendon off a bone in my foot. It got reattached in that foot's first reconstruction.Later, that foot had a leaky tendon, and had to have the leak sealed. Then that foot had another reconstruction when scar tissue from the first operation interferred with my blood flow. During that operation they also rerouted another tendon. After that operation I found women's shoes and have had no further issues. Except when I was walking in running shoes and pavement broke off and I totaled my peronral tendon. Now for the other foot. In the mid 80's I hyperextended the achilles tendon playing tennis. Had to wear a 'balleria' cast, a cast with a 3 inch stooped built into the heel. Couldn't wait to get that cast off. Then in the nineties, I stepped into a gopher hole just before leaving on a family vacation. When I returned, I had both ankles looked at. They wanted to work on both ankles, but I choose this one first. I had broken a bone inside my ankle sack. They also tighten my tendons too. Then I stubbed my toe, I meaning really stub it. I wouldn't get straight and would just stick straight up. In that operation they reroute tendons and took out a hammer toe joint, then inserted 6 inch rods/pins through the toes. Weeks later when they pulled those pins out I screamed at the highest pitch ever. @mlroseplant try soaking your foot in Epsom Salt and see what happens.

I still love my suede knee high Jessica Simpson stilettos with a 1.5 inch platform.

I agree that platform wedges are harder to walk in because of the pebble/twig scenario. BUT I still wear them.
  7. Because of the boards I am on, I have seen at least 10 women in 3-4 inch heels in the last week. Boots, stilettos, block heels, etc.

That's why several of us talk about rise (heel - platform) instead of just heel hieght. My sweet spot is 3.75 in to 4.5 in rise, but it has become increasing hard to find heels in this range. So I now have some 3.5 inch heels.
  9. For me it was about 5 year old Gladiator Sandals where the sides pulled out.
  10. Its the glue used to hold the shoes together. The glue get brittle with age and turns into a powder. I have had about 6 pairs that had the same failure at about the same age of the shoe.

This is born out in the number of visitor HHP gets compared to the number of posting member. I can testify the fear is real. I remember back to the time when I switched to women's shoes. I was fearful. And then when I went to booties with 2 inch heels, the click-click sound scared me, making me think/fear everyone was watching. But I realized some men's shoes also clicked. Going to 4 inch heels was also fearful. But you get over it. I have worn 4 inch high heels in public for almost 10 years now. Certainly the first year or two was exciting/fearful times. Now, I might have a inner excitement over having a new pair of heels on or just from the total look.IT'S JUST NORMAL. I don't think about my shoes except when traversing stairs or uneven pavement. (And I park as close to where I am going. I wear heels up to 16+ hours a day.) I love to wear my knee high boots on the outside of skinny pants, but have a few wider leg pants that I will wear now and then. For a fun outfit try knee high boots and short shorts in the summer.
  12. Toooo weird for my taste and I don't have £805 for garbage. But somebody must like them. Then why stop at two layers???
  13. I acquisitioned my first wife’s shooties (shoe-bootie) one day in the late 70’s because my dress shoes didn’t look good with the suit I had on. I was in my early 20’s. They became my dress shoes until I wore them out in the late 90’s. Great leather shoes with a 2.5 inch heel. Then in about 2008 I needed water shoes for a trip to Hawaii. They ran out of men’s in my size. So, I tried the women’s size 10 and the men’s size 10. To my surprise the women’s size ten fit better than the men’s size 10. In 2011, I researched shoes that fit my feet and it turned out to be women’s. Haven't bought a pair of men's shoes since then. I started with 1.5 to 2.5 inch booties. Today I only wear women’s shoes. Mostly 4 inch heels everywhere including board meetings.
  14. Some of my relatives take a forthnight holiday on canals.
  15. I hyper extented my Achilles tendon playing tennis in the late 80's. They put my ankle in a 'ballerina' cast for awhile. A 3 inch rubber heel. I wish I had worn high heels then because walking around with different lengh legs was not much fun AND painful. Good luck.
  16. It's only a myth until you get the road rash and your hair mats down into the blood and scratches. Been there.
  17. I think cyclist did it for road rash reasons. If you ever lay down your bike and scrap body parts you would understand. Swimmers do it for speed (less resistance). I often need to tape my legs and KT Tape does not work well with hair of any length. Hair does not stretch so the tape does not work as it should. As a result I get my legs waxed when they need to be. Even though I might not see any hair, I certainly feel it when I remove the tape.
  18. Fog just lifted...should be a nice 75 F today. Sorry. It was 95 yesterday where I work...not boot season, BUT, I have been known to wear knee highs with shorts in that weather.
  19. Hey, I do my part with knee high boots.
  20. I switched to women's shoes after many ankle reconstructions. I would have to wear 9.5 EEE male shoes and I then my heel would swim in the back of the shoes, 1/2 inch of extra space on each side between my heel and the shoe. While recovering from a reconstruction I started to look for a shoe that would FIT my foot. Every search can back with women's shoes. So, I bought a cheap pair of women's running shoes from DSW and they fit like no other shoe ever did. And they were a women's size 10. I have not bought a pair of "men's" shoes since and have not had ankle issues. Heel height was not an issue then as I wore 1 to 2 inch booties. I had to raise my heel 4 inches to relax my calf so that it could heal. And because of other reasons I had to raise both heels 4 inches. You cannot walk around in 2 plastic medical booties, so I got a pair of high heels. During that time my hip pain subsided and 5 months later when I went back to 'flat shoes' the hip pain returned. So, for the last 10 years I have been wearing heels. It does take away all my pain but makes a tremendous difference. Does height matter? YES. My sweet spot is 3.75 to 4.5 inch difference between platform and heel. Platforms are okay with me. It's the difference that matters. I will wake up in pain and put on a pair of heels (mules) to reduce the pain. Style, wedges, block, narrow, or stilettos are all good. The only important factor is fit. I will wear my shoes (heels) for up to 16 hours a day so fit is extremely important. Wearing heels does not mean you have to pair them with a skirt or dress. I dress in 'male' style clothes. I have many leggings and will wear them as my pants often. Compression leggings are great for many sports, especially when you don't want the bulk. And I love my bodysuits as a base layer in the winter.
  21. I was wondering if you notice how many men in high heels are part of the openning ceremonies. From 3 men running through alibrary, to men on a fashion runway on a bridge.

I thought I would start a blog of some of my daily events. So I start with today's events. Today I decided to go shopping BEFORE work. I also plan on wearing my new Steven Madden Manner. Found out real fast that driving in the Manners was impossible, so I took a pair to drive in. My destination was a large mall. I parked my car and put on the Manners. So comfortable. Walked in through a store and paid off my minor credit card bill. The woman who took my money went wild over my fingernails. Called another woman over to see them and asked alot of questions. Then when I walked away they saw my heels and made positive comments about them. Next stop was the Steve Madden store. Store was empty, but the saleswoman greeted by "Haven't seen you for a while, what can I get for you." I told here I wanted to get another Manner, in the tan color, but I needed to pay with my Steve Madden gift card. She did a great job and I got all the special added discounts (and MORE). This is where shopping in person really pays off. She went out of her way to get me an unreal low price. While I was there I took the opportunity to try on the Deanna. My feet are not meant for pumps. A few doors down was the Aldo store. I love their gel pads, wear them almost all my heels. So I went in and got another 5 pairs of pads. I think I sold some pads to the woman behind the counter. She loved my heels and asked me to teach her how to walk in heels. I walked back to my car and off to work. Overall today I had at least 15 people (including 3 guys) tell me they liked, loved, or WOW for those Manners. That's the most reaction I have ever gotten with a pair of heels and I wear heels every day. Also had at least a dozen women ask me about my nails, who and where did I get them done.
