Years ago there were certain things I wish I had the confidence to do. I am finally getting the confidence to do many of these and I am much happier because of it. Last year I was a "want to expose my knee highs" type of person, this fall I got the confidence to break that self imposed glass ceiling.

Did you find your were treated in a different (better) way, more like a viable customer, when shopping for heels in heels?

@hiddenheels its always nerve wracking when you expand your comfort zone.  Especially those first few steps, we all experience it.  But it is also very satisfying when you have expanded it.  Good job.

@mlroseplant You might want to look into thermal legging for those extra cold days. I have been using leggings and yoga pants in place of longjohns for many years. Much more comfortable and warmer..

It just happened that way. What can I say, I like a wide variety of heels. 

Macy's had a special flash sale on boots, 40% off + free shipping, so I thought I would give the JS Rollin a try.

Then a few days later Steve Madden changed their rewards system and gave me some % off, + $30 off, and free shipping. I saw they had this tall mule, it just so happen to be a stiletto.

Then one day I had two hours to kill so I went to see what was at DSW (big mistake). The JS Rachie captivated me as I passed by them.

That's great. Not being able to give a direct response right away prevents many from public wearing.

I'm now the third oldest in one family tree with my mother and her brother the only ones above me. Visiting her is one of the few times a year I have clear nails.

Before that I had just one pair from Victoria’s Secret.  Today I picked up two pairs that I had bought on-line, so I thought I would try them each on and do a photo shot with my faux leather Express pants. I got these in a size 11. I give these a 5 star rating.  Been looking for a knee high boot with a full zipper for some time and when I saw these and I had a very special coupon from Macy’s I jump on them. So glad I did, these are sold out now. . I have had them on for the last 3 hours aand love them. Since I now have 4 pairs of knee high or almost knee high boots and have broken the ‘tight pants (leggings) with knee highs at work’ bubble, I plan on wearing these with those (faux) leather next week…maybe with my Sherpa. Plan to get a lot of use out of them.

Another word of caution here, women hate it when a man wears it better than they can.

I was looking for shoes that fit. After an exhaustive internet search I determined I had a woman's shaped foot.  I purchased a very inexpensive sneaker to test my conclusion. I haven't bought men's shoes since. Bought a better pair of running shoes right away and did it in a store. My first dress shoes were a pair of booties I tried on in Macy's, very low heel, maybe 1.5 - 2 inches heel. It was hard to gather the courage to wear them to work the first few months. But I finally had shoes that fit!. I got 3 more pairs of heels, all short booties, BareTraps, ... Some friends at work notice I was all of a sudden slightly taller. I said the doctor told me I needed to have a short heel. And it's true.The doctors are now advising I wear at least a 2 inch heel and they are fine with me wearing 4 - 5 inch heels. My colleagues at work question when I'm not wearing heels.

So the people at work could notice even short heels, so be prepared. You don't want to fumble around when you are asked.  It is better to handle the challenges (if any) head on in the beginning, after that they tend to disappear.

Three pairs in 2 weeks...heel intervention must be required!!!!

Today I had planned to expand my comfort zone by adding a few new things into my daily wardrobe. I got some vegan leather pants/leggings from Express several weeks ago and wanted to wear them in public. I had also impulse bought these Jessica Simpson’s Rachie yesterday at DSW and wanted to wear them to work.  Thus the plan was to wear them both.

However, this morning when I put them on, I realized that I needed to soften them up just a bit before wearing all day.  So instead I opt for my Nine West Samreno knee high boots.  I had worn these many times under long pants and a few times with shorts, but never over pants. And not only over pants, but over vegan leather pants. Here’s my incognito work look for today.

It very exhilarating and liberating when you expand your comfort zone!!

Thanks for showing it was okay to shop in the Women's Express (we have two Express stores). With that encouragement, I've purchased lots of items in my wardrobe.
