ShockQueen Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 Ok...here's a new one for you to chew on.... What is your favorite type of heel - chunky, or stiletto (spiky)? For myself, I prefer the chunky-heeled styles as they have better support - although I'm not fond of the OVERLY-chunky ones - just like the ones I've been posting lately - kinda like this: What do you think? Which style of heel do you find most pleasing? SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!
Firefox Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 It depends. I wear more chunky ones, I prefer to see spiky ones; chunky ones are more versatile with regard to occasion and surface, spiky ones cut a dash for an evening; chunky ones look better on larger (male) frames, spiky ones better on thinner (female) frames; chunky ones look better with trousers, spiky ones look better with skirts. If you really wanted to pin me down on it, I'd say a thickish blade was my favourite style.
RubberVicki Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 I love thin stiletto heels of 4in +. Preferably black courts.
terayon Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 i dont like stilettos at all, id much prefer a chunky, or even wedge heel....although, some really hot girls can look nice in stilettos, its not mreally my fav style
Joak Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 Well, I do like both, the stilettos and the chunky/block styles! Anyway my favoite is the wedge heel. It's always nice to have some different styles to choose from best wishes Joak
hoverfly Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 Women stilettos, men chunky. It's a matter of my preferences. But what ever looks good on a person. Hello, my name is Hoverfly. I’m a high heel addict…. Weeeeeeeeeee! 👠1998 to 2022!
Charlie Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 Ditto on the chunky for the men and chunky/stilleto for the women. IMHO not too many guys have the small frame to pull off the stilleto look. Charlie Everything I say is a lie!.......I'm lying
Laurieheels Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 I take the volleyball philosophy on this one... it is best to SPIKE! Stiletto heels just suit me that much better than something chunky.
azraelle Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 spike heels and tite boot cut jeans go very well together on a shapely lady _________________ Hi-Heels and Back-Zipper Pants Forever... [ This Message was edited by: azraelle on 2002-05-14 13:40 ] "All that you can decide, is what to do with the time that is given you."--Gandalf, "Life is not tried, it is merely survived -If you're standing outside the fire."--Garth Brooks
Robert Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 chunky for men, chunky/spiky for women Boots, fascinating footwear http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i103/Boots_1956/

phuonginheels Posted May 15, 2002 Posted May 15, 2002 I prefer spike stilettos, but sometimes when i see nice rather elegant still chunky heels i'll buy and wear them to go shopping or walking long distances on bad sidewalks.
Joak Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 At least at females I do also really like the newer kind of quite narrow blade heels which are about 1 1/2" wide and not even 1/2" thick...
Dexter23 Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 spiky to see defenatly but to weat outdoors chunky would be better.
phuonginheels Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 I like the blade heels a lot as well, they are better to walk outside with on cobblestones and bad sidewalks... i have some pairs that are even 5inch high.
JeffB Posted May 25, 2002 Posted May 25, 2002 I'm partial to blade heels as well since they combine the best of both worlds. I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
5_Inch_Pumps Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 Spikes are my all time fave, and always will be but I do have a couple pair of chunky heels. For the ultimate sexy look, spiky is the way to go.
skenn Posted July 26, 2002 Posted July 26, 2002 I definately prefer spikes, but then I don't wear them (any more). Some 'wedges' are nice. Blades I've never heard of. Chunky, generally NO, but elegance is the priority. BTW. When people talk about 4", 5" etc, what toes this refer to ?. The height of the back of the sole, the height added to the wearer ?. Shane
stellah Posted August 9, 2002 Posted August 9, 2002 I consider spikey also prettier and sexier. Chunky heels are a good mixture of casual footwrear and sexy footwear. _______________ HH forever!
terayon Posted August 9, 2002 Posted August 9, 2002 IMO only time spiky looks good is on pumps..i really dislike stilletto boots
anthrax Posted August 10, 2002 Posted August 10, 2002 Personally, I think it's more of a context thing. It all depends on the rest of the ensemble.
stellah Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 I also agree with Anthrax - the footwear must suit the rest of the clothing well. There can be really weird ones and also fantastically bright ensembles with spikes and without spikes. But spikes are definitely less modest - their shape is like created to say: "Hey, everybody! Look at me - I' really high and spiky!" The chunky ones hide the height and shape more - sometimes even so, that nobody notices the heels _______________ HH forever!
Anita C. Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 STILETTOS, PLEASE! Years ago I tried a pair of chunky heels . . . for about an hour. I didn't even get them home! I donated them to Goodwill on the way home. "Spike Heels . . a Pork-pie hat . . Have on the mend in no time flat . . Ten Minutes 'Till The Savages Come by Manhatten Transfer.
