Mr. X Posted August 19 Posted August 19 (edited) There are many version of Artificial Intelligence begining to appear on cell phones. They can basically do just about anything for you now. For those with an Andriod phone, Gemini is the new thing. There is even commercials for it now. In the latest commercial, a girl snaps a photo of her outfit. Then she asks gemini, "what makeup look would go good with this outfit?" And Gemini responds, "A cat eye would work well", or something to that effect. So I started thinking about how it could work with heels? I have not used it for an actual outfit I have worn out yet. But I did test it out. And based on the results I think it could be very useful for us. It's like having your own personal stylist in your pocket. I tried it 2 different ways. First I tried it with a picture of me wearing just a normal pair of white jeans and a black t-shirt. I asked Gemini, "What kind of heels should I wear with this outfit?". I was suprised how good the results were. And how many different choices it gave me. Then I tried it the opposite way. I gave it a picture of a pair of Fushia snakeskin textured heels, instead of just a plain old black pair. I tried to make it difficult for Gemini, but to no avail. I asked Gemini, "What oufit would go well with these heels?". It knew the colour and that the shoes were snakeskin textured, to boot! And again, it returned plenty of outfit options. All different styles and colours. Everthing from a black dress, to a pair of dark skinny jeans with a neutral coloured top. It made a believer out of me, and I'm sold! Can't wait to try it out and get suggestions on an actual outfit that I will wear out. And it will also be useful out shopping. Imaging taking a picture of a pair of heels, or a piece of clothing you are thinking of buying, and instantly getting feedback and outfit suggestions. It will be like having your own personal shopper in your pocket. Has anyone else tried it yet? If you haven't, I suggest you do. Here are some screenshots of my attempt with the fushia heels. mlroseplant Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I did not go purposefully seeking AI, but I was sending somebody a DM with a picture of me in shorts and heels (I don't have time right now to look it up), and after I sent it, the phone suggested some AI alterations. There were categories like "Classic," "Futuristic," "Cartoon," and so forth. In over 50% of the cases, it lengthened my shorts to suburban dad length, and gave me ugly shoes, though it didn't always put me in 100% flat shoes. However, it did give me my hair back in all cases!
Shyheels Posted August 19 Posted August 19 As a creative I detest AI and boycott it scrupulously - on more grounds than I can count.

As a writer myself I know what you mean, but have found some limited uses for it. I have a fairly big printer (Plotter) so AI does a really nice job of taking a smaller sized photo and then scaling it up without any distortion even in poster sized pictures. It's kind of nice now to be able to take a thumbnail image and print it out at 3 feet by 5 feet and have it look good. The other thing I like is that in the United States anyway, the Supreme Court ruled AI Images are not able to be copyrighted, so I can use AI pictures for book covers and not have to worry about models, model releases, etc, and later being sued. Like @Mr. X but a little different, we just bought another house and wanted to see what the place would look like differently. Since we were swapping rooms, as in the kitchen being the living room and vice versa, it was nice to take pictures of the rooms then just make it a kitchen based on different kitchen styles of architecture. It was just Mr X did, but with rooms, and it was nice to see what we ultimately envisioned. 1
Shyheels Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I simply boycott it. AI is just wrong on so many levels. Dud you know Amazon now has a limit of three books a day one is allowed to publish through them - three a day! - because of the sheer tonnage of AI rubbish being churned out. And at least two of my titles have been used to train AI - with no benefit to me. And what is so great about endless AI produced royalty free images? I’m a photographer. - there is nothing good about it at all, especially since my work has been pirated and used to train AI. i see nothing good whatsoever to come from or out of AI
Mr. X Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago I see both sides of The AI argument @Shyheels. There is definitely negatives when it comes to AI, for sure! But personally, anything that is going to make my life easier, or save me time and money, I'm on bored. I can't imaging how much money and man hours it would have taken me to come up with the same results that I got in a few minutes. And with only 1 picture and a few keystrokes, to boot.
Shyheels Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I can understand the appeal. It’s seductive. But ultimately it is going to be very, very harmful and there may be no way back.
mlroseplant Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago What it comes down to is that many people don't know what's real and what's not, and maybe they don't care. That's the scary part.
Shyheels Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago There are so many scary ramifications to this. I see it ultimately as a means of controlling society in ways that humanity has never experienced before
Shyheels Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’m think more along the lines of AI taking nearly jobs, the rank and file all receiving universal basic income and living at subsistence level with no prospect for change, while the billionaire class rules the world.
Cali Posted 21 minutes ago Posted 21 minutes ago A watch dog group believes the current biggest thread to national security is AI. AI can be "trained" to deliver mis-information, and if a person have been trained to believe whatever AI spits out as truth, we are all doomed. I know AI has stolen copyrighted material from me.
