TigerTail Posted December 27, 2011 Share Posted December 27, 2011 I went out in one of my pair of heels this morning; black 3 inch Mary Jane pumps. I took a clue from another post here and bought a new pair of boot cut jeans that were 2 inches longer than what I normally wear. That way the only thing that really showed were the front of my heels. I did this early in the AM at a local Wal Mart, there weren't many people. I really enjoyed the click of the heels as I walked through the parking lot, into the store and by people -- employees and customers. I pushed a cart so there was a little distraction but still stopped completely at times while shopping around others. Not to mention checking out and walking by the greeter a time or two. Not surprisingly, no one seemed to notice. No customer or employee said a thing about it. I guess what other posts I've read is true - most people don't pay attention. My next outing might be to a movie theater; picking the right time when there won't be too many people there. If you're wondering about going out in your heels sometime, do it! It was awesome. Secondly, you have made a couple of common observations: it is so much fun and such a rush when you're out in public in high heels, and most people either don't notice or don't say anything or even react if they do notice your high heels. The very first time wearing heels in public can be both exciting and unnerving, but once you've gotten that initial outing under your belt, things will progressively become easier. Listen to these members here because they know from experience that the world in too large and involved in itself to notice, beyond a passing glance, what one person has on their feet. The key to enjoying expression of personality via clothing, or heels in this case, regardless of gender, is by exuding confidence. Your observations from your outing are right on the mark! Now listen to your own words, "most people don't pay any attention" or care (my words). With that in mind, stop worrying about "there won't be too many people", just go out and wear your heels. It is a lot easier when you no longer worry about other people. When there are only a few people, they will have time to take a good look at you, in a crowd they have no time at all so you pass unnoticed. I've not tried a movie theatre yet (but I have done a music concert) and I'd be inclined to follow Dr. Shoe's advice - the busier the better. If you like it, wear it.
