Heelster Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Had to go out of town to work on another house I own for the weekend, so I got on the motorcycle on Thursday and headed down the road. What makes this trip different is that I decided to wear some high heeled boots instead of the typical work boots. (See attachment) Crappy ride with rain and drizzle half the way, but the boots held up well. After arriving in town, went to dinner with the resident, and of course, he picked a restaurant with high tables and chairs in the aisle and booths along the side. I'm out in plain view and even my long pants over the boots are not gonna hide these boots. A few young ladies obviously noticed as I hear an 'Oh my god' from two of them as I can tell they are looking straight at my boots. That was kinda weird feeling, but not bad. Another couple right next to me noticed as the woman kept looking at them. Keep in mind I'm not young, have a lot of grey hair, It's way too long, and I've just had a helmet on for about 4 hours - I ain't good looking at this point. I also did not bring anything else to wear outside of the house, so I'm in a position where I have no choice but to wear my boots. Today I had to take a car out to have a tire fixed. No problem. Had to wait about an hour and a half, so I walked over to the gas station for a cup of coffee and something to munch. The one sales associate (about my age) made a point of following me around the aisles - - yep, she was checking out the boots. They are noisy and obvious even with long pants. Next off to DSW just around the corner. Looked around for a bit. Didn't see anything that jumped right out and said 'Buy Me' but I may stop back in on the way home Sunday. Some of the customers had to notice something was amiss since I'm looking at classic black pumps and checking out the clearance aisles. A bohemian looking at platform pumps?? dead give away. Nobody seemed to mind, and nobody commented. None of the sales associated inquired with me either. Tire place called so I walked back across the parking lots and the six lane street and picked up the car I'm back out on the bike for a snack and stopped next to a car full of young ladies. Looked like they were out for lunch. All of a sudden, I'm hearing all kinds of talking toward me, and discovered they are flat out gawking at my boots. It's hard to hear in city traffic with a helmet on, but I did hear them ask me where I got them. They were asking questions real quick, but the light turned green and they had to turn while I'm still sitting their. Time to get back to work - - we will see what else I can get into this weekend.

stefan Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Nice story and a nice pair of boots. Best regards, Stefan
jwhite44 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Thank god your heels were only block heels, and not ultra-thin stillettos. Might have caused one of those women to pass out!
Heelster Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 Nice story and a nice pair of boots. They are pretty comfortable too. that makes it so much easier. The only problem, and one I anticipated to some extent was the foot pegs on the bike, brake pedal, and the gear shifter, When I was looking ut for boots, I had riding in mind, but I didn;t expect the gear shifter to cause so much wear on the left toe,
Bernheels Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Heelster Great story! Nice to hear there are other riders that wear High Heels I own a 2003 Heritage Harley and have been riding motorcycles since I was 14 - many years:) I also love to wear high heels and have worn many styles of heels on my Harleys. The pictures below are the latest boots that I have been wearing - hope you like. I wear these 3 inch boots - also bought these at DSW - tried them on at the store and the sale lady loved them on me. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r173/bernheels/New%20Boots/DSC03778Small-1.jpg http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r173/bernheels/New%20Boots/DSC03777Small.jpg These I bought at Shoe Carnival - very comfortable and a little more daring on the bike - interesting looks: http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r173/bernheels/New%20Boots/DSC02360Small-1.jpg I have worn spike heel boots like these but only at night - don't want to give anyone a heart attack out there http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r173/bernheels/New%20Boots/BikerinBoots1-1-2.jpg Ride Safe - even in your heels, Bernheels
Heelster Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Back home now, and the boots have taken apx 600 miles of highway and inner city beating. Yep, they got some wear marks for sure. The stacked heel has some wear marks which show as white plastic under the stacked heel appearance. That can be touched up. There are some scuff marks on the inside back near the heel - maybe some boot polish will cover that, but the wear on the shifter toe needs some work. Gonna have to figure out what to do. Saturday, after a hard days work. I got cleaned up and decided I'd return some unused merchandise to Lowes. Got there about 9:00. Went through the return process. Nothing interesting. Went out to get back on the road, and the bike had heat soaked the carbs, so I'm down for at least a 1/2 hour. Looked around the shopping plaza, and spotted a late night grocery and the local recruiters office - - Nahhh. Then I spotted a shop called "simply Shoe" so I ventured across the shopping center parking lot. Got there and the doors were locked, but the sigh said open. The owner let me in anyways. Getting close to closing time I guess. What I discovered was a shoe shop with predominately really high and flashy heels. The store caters to the inner city locals, and even the mens shoe aisles had designs I hadn't seen elsewhere, but that's not what caught my eyes. I could have had a field day in this shop. I even spotted a pair of camo platform skyhigh pump, but thy were a size 11. I asked if they got boots in toward winter, and she assured me they get plenty. I left making sure the owner knew I would be back sometime when I had more time. Walked back accross the parking lot. Bike decided it wanted to start so off we go up the highway. I knew there was an outlet center up the road, but I wasn't sure how late they were open on a saturday night - - they were closed as I figured they would be. Then I spotted a Hustler Hollywood store, which of course would be open. For as big as this store was, their shoe selection wasn't t5hat great. I'm not really impressed with brass nuckle, or pistol barrel heels. They did have one section that was for wedding apparell. Spent a half hour there, saw lots of customers, and nobody even gave me a second look. Got back on the bike and rode around the downtown for awhile, but nothing really interesting. Today was a hot and sunny day. Did everything a normal road warrior would do for 200 some miles without even a mention, and I doubt anyone noticed even though these boots are out in plain sight. Got home, walked in the door, and about a minute later, the wife say's "Oh god, youv'e got your girly boots on" of which my reply was "and your the only person who has really noticed all day". Based on the whole extended weekend - Boots were very comfortable but took a severe beating, but I kinda expected that. Very few people either noticed me, or just ignored this weird looking biker dude. For me, I really don't even think about it much unless I am walking where the noise is obvious. The floor at Lowes is one of those kinda places.
Heelster Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Bernheels - Now that first pair of boots is what I've been looking for. I've worn boots like that with just a bit shorter heel since the late 70's but anymore, you just cant find them at the boot shops any more. Would love to try on a pair of those. They would be perfect for what I do, and even the wife and kids wouldn't even give it a second thought. Even my co-workers wouldn't think twice after seeing me in 'cowboy boots' for so long. There are no DSW's near by, and the one I was at this last friday didn't have anything like those. If they had, I would jump at the chance to get some like that. As for bike - I'm riding an old '86 Honda 500 Shadow (VT500C). I live in Harley country - Very few metric bikes around, and just a few sport bikes. I only got into the cycle thing just for the fuel mileage. I do most of my driving by myself, so why not get a bike instead. I just did the 600 miles getting between 63 to 74 MPG at above highway speed with the saddlebags loaded. 74 MPG was with the wind at my back and light traffic. Bike is a bit small to be running highway/expressway, and really does well as a street cruiser, but you just can't beat the gas saving side of it. This little bike has about 36,000 miles on it, and I've put the last 10,000 miles on the last two years. I'm gonna have to get something else sometime soon, but I'm not gonna bother if it only gets 40 MPG.

Heelster, I think you are understanding what women do everyday : wear what you want, know the limits, and assume the outfit. It is like adulthood. You are free to do and behave as you think is best. (while respecting a bunch of legal rules etc.). Now what will be the result on your social life, activities, friends or personal finances (shoes lifetime ? :-)), wellfare, health and happyness is not sure. Staying in the mainline is taking a maximum of guarantees. Behaving differently offers less guarantees, but is not necessary taking you to marginality. Nice outing anyway.
Heelster Posted June 6, 2011 Author Posted June 6, 2011 Had some time to get out and about over the weekend by myself. Mostly nearby communities, but never-the-less, I could have been spotted by some folks who actually knew me. Mostly small stops at places like Restore, and small shops. Stopped by one boutique that may be ordering in a pair I've been looking at online, but would rather try them on first. Since the kids were gone all weekend, and it was way to hot for me, I threw the wife a curve and decided to do the grilling and such in a pair of high heeled clogs. Since nobody can see the house in the summer, I can wear what I want outside with no problems. Mentioned to the wife that the Walmart Croc knock-offs weren't comfortable, and was gonna wear my heels instead. She still doesn't understand my interest in heels, and since she won't ever wear them again, why should I, but she just kinda ignores me about this while I'm at home. - - Hey - someone has to wear the heels in the house. Might as well be me.
Heelster Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 It;s another weekend out of town, but I didn't ride the motorcycle as it was just too damned rainy to do so. Put on a different pair of black boots and off I went. Did all the usual stuff one would do when they are traveling, Had to stop at Home Depot and Lowes along with a grocery store stop after getting into town. Stopped at the one shoe store I mentioned before and spent some time looking for a rounded or slightly pointed pump in black or dark brown. Nothing to shiny. Would love to find a high dark wedge if possible, I'm open to options, but would like to stay somewhat plain and simple. Something not to obvious with jeans. I haven't been out independently in a stiletto heel, so I'm looking for something I can feel somewhat confident wearing as a guy. If it was a "walk a mile in her shoes" event, I'll wear just about anything high and flashy, but not out too dinner and shopping. When I'm out in boots, the sound is a dead give away and yet I don't believe many notice. I'm sure some have, but either they are discreet about it, or just don't care - - which is a good thing I guess. More to follow as it's only Friday.
roniheels Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Congratulations on your outings. As far as footwear, wear what is most comfortable for you, especially in public. If you are thinking of the possibility of stiletto heels, buy an inexpensive pair at, for instance, Payless or even a thrift shop. Wear them around the house with your favorite otfit and see if you might feel comfortable wear them in public.

I did stop at a DSW en route to a Home Depot , and spotted what I was looking for in Guess and Nine West, but I was in no position to try anything on at the time. (I looked like I had just come off a construction site, which I kinda was in all reality.) I will stop back tomorrow and try them on. A little out of my price range, but I expect they will fit better than the pair of pleaser pumps I have at this point. Can't find them on the website, but the Nine West were in the clearance rack, but the Guess were out on the main floor.
mtnsofheels Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Hi Heelster, Thanks for sharing your great stories and adventures on your bike and out in public. Your outings sound like a lot of fun, hope you find more boots of interest. I would love to have a bike but have never rode one but that does not mean I can't, just have to pick and choose what to spend $ and time on. Dam if boots and heels has not won.... Awesome adventures! Thanks, Mtnsofheels!
Heelster Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Sunday afternoon, I had to head home, but first I decided I was going back too the DSW. Store was not too busy, so a young lady decided to off assistance in my shoppin. She inquired if I was interested in height (as in compensating for my lack of height) of which I informed her that that was not an issue - I'm not that short. I had already pulled a couple pair of Nine West off the clearance rack, but I was heading for the regular stok too. Decided to check out the G by Guess pumps too. After trying on all the different options, and some other input from the sales associate, I opted for the Guess pumps. She thought they were the best option too. She was rather surprised I could actually walk aroud the store, but she didn't ask too many questions either. Put my boots back on (Now she notices that they are not what she thought they were originally) paid the cashier and went on down the road. As before, I made all the usual stops at gas statione etc, but I didn't notice if anyone else spotted me. What I did notice over the weekend was that one I really started picking out shoe styles, I was kinda in my own world, and didn't bother to notice what other people might be looking at. There were other women in the aisles but I basically ignored them all. All in all, a good but uneventful weekend out of town. Next time I might travel in high heel clogs or pumps - - - - we will see if I'm up to it when the time comes.
Shafted Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Congrats on you outings, Heelster! You are probably at that point right now where your realizing that wearing heels in public is rather anticlimatic. Heelster Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Congrats on you outings, Heelster! You are probably at that point right now where your realizing that wearing heels in public is rather anticlimatic. At least as far as everyones response. It kinda has been, but then I haven't gone out in anything to obvious either. My pants cover all the boots, and since I have been wearing western underslug/riding heels for so long, I walk pretty normally in a 3" to 4" stacked style heel. When and if - more likely when I step out in a 5" platform stiletto clog or pump, that may change. Still will not do it in my general neighborhood as I know what will happen, and it won't be good. I will have to go for it somewhere else. Recent events in my small town area have convinced me that there are minds so narrow, there is no room for deviation beyond the red neck militant evangelical mindset. Let's just say that smoking dope is somewhat acceptable, or tolerated along with drinking beer, but anyone (male or female ) attempting to push the style envelope might get more than they bargained for.
SArmeah Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 If you have laws that allow you to carry, then get the license and carry with it strapped to your leg or something, almost like part of a costume. They'll leave you alone hehe SArmeah - "No one cares how much you know, till they know how much you care"
Heelster Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 I've ventured out in my high heeled boots every once in awhile. Spent a couple days in philly area, and I,m sure the ladies at the hotel reception desk noticed me out in my boots. They were friendly, but made no mention, although when I was just outside the door, I spotted then conversing with another lady, and it was evident that my boots were the topic of discussion. had a few minutes yesterday, so I went shopping in the same boots. Sales clerks didn't seem to notice at the Shoe Dept store, but the place was also kinda busy. Girl at the gas station never noticed either, nor the customers. Having long pants on makes them less visible, but the sound is obvious. These are the steepest boots I've been out in, and it went very well.
Heelster Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 It's been awhile since I have posted anything. Couple weeks ago, I was out of town and when I wasn't in work boots, I was in heeled boots. As usual, Very few noticed. Did have a couple high school girls give a quick laugh as I walked by, but that didn't bother me much. going around Home Depot, Lowes, grocery stores, fast food joints and the gas station - basically everywhere. Starting tomorrow, I'm gonna test the waters with the wife and the public. Gonna be out of town for a few days with the wife, and I'm probably gonna drag out a pair of boots to go along. The other day, I did something to my one heel, and walking about in work boots has been just killer. I have discovered that when I put on my stiletto platform clogs, it doesn't hurt near as much when walking around the house, so I may take them along. Three days of being out shopping over Black Friday - that's a lot of people. Being unnoticed will be hard as my face and hair are about the right length and color for the season. The Santa hat goes on Friday.
hyheels Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Being noticed with being accepted is much more exciting. Even just being noticed makes the heart beat faster out of anticipation. But, being notice and being accepted is a feeling that cannot be expressed. I think we all want that.
Steve63130 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Gonna be out of town for a few days with the wife, and I'm probably gonna drag out a pair of boots to go along. In drag? LOL Let us know how the outing goes! Steve
Heelster Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Nope - Not in drag. Wife wouldn't tolerate that, and frankly, I can't see me doing that. Don't have the look. Since it's the Christmas season, my beard is in all it's Santa looking glory, and wearing a Santa hat and a skirt just wouldn't go over well.
Heelster Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 As I mentioned, the wife and I were out of town over Thanksgiving. Decided to go to Gatlinburg Tennesee from Wednesday night through Saturday. Under normal circumstances, I kinda doubt the wife would have been open to me wearing high heeled boots all day every day, but being as I somehow screwed up my heel, and discovering walking in heels eliminated the pain, she was OK with it. My jeans covered up most of the boots I wore, but to anyone with eyes and ears could have noticed what I was wearing, and I'm sure many did. I did go looking at some new western boots, and saw a few that were interesting, but given my current budget, buying wasn't much of an option, but I was glad to see they still make some of the boots I am so familiar with. I can see a buying stop in the area again soon, but next time, I'll have cash on hand. Most of the associates in these boot shops could see what I was wearing, and didn't say a word. One asked to see what I had one, I believe in an attempt to get a better idea what I was wearing, and made a small gasping sound. She then said she wished her husband could wear the same style boots she does, but it sounded like her husband wouldn't think of it. If you know anything about Gatlinburg, you know it means lots of walking around. We were staying on the edge of town, so it meant a mile walk into downtown, and anywhere else you wanted to go. That means I walked at least ten miles plus anywhere else, so I'd ballpark at least 15 miles of walking in heels during my stay. Since I was wearing my Santa hat anytime it wasn't 60+ degrees out, it's not like I didn't draw attention, but I believe the focus shifted toward my face - - -with one exception. A small kid was telling his mother "There's Santa" of which her mothers reply was "no it's not" - - Then the little girl said - "But he's got real black boots on!!" The only draw back to the week was that I now have to have heel pads replaced on one pair, and I could have wished for a bit more padding at the ball of my feet, but no pain on the heel and no limping was well worth it. I do believe the wife realized very few people noticed, and she didn't seem so negative to the notion of me wearing high heels out in public later in the week although I highly doubt she will ever be OK with me in a stiletto pump.
Heelster Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Made a somewhat bolder move yesterday. Had to drive half way across the state and I had some high heeled boots on. I noticed that I was way ahead of my scheduled arrival time so I decided to stop by a mall and do some window shopping and check out amounts I had remaining on some gift cards. There was no mistaking that I had high heels on. My 505 Levi's did little to conceal my boots. This time I noticed that I was seen. The girls at a Victoria Secret shop definitely noticed, A sales associate at a Nine West shop was blatantly looking, and some shoppers took double takes at my boots. There was a group of guys sitting in the middle of the mall, and they made no effort to avoid gawking at me as I walked by. No comments though. It was a bit of a different episode for me but I didn't get a negative vibe, or felt anything unusual I have yet to make any move toward a stiletto pump style as of yet, and I'm not sure that would be a good style for me anyways.

I am definitely going to venture out in my 5" cowboy boots today though, thanks for the encouragement...Don
roniheels Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Congratulations on your latest outing. I'm sure people have more on their minds than worrying about or commenting on a man wearing high heels. I too have recently experienced the "look, but no comment or reaction" to me when wearing 5" stiletto high heels in public. I also have visited a large mall while wearing high heels and yes, you do draw some attention. Thank you for sharing your day with us.
Heelster Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 It's been awhile since I have had anything to realy comment about. Been out on a couple days with boots on, but nothing to really comment about. This weekend was a bit different. I had to go to Cincy for some business at the county administration building. Rode down Thursday night to be there on Friday morning. Wore the usual high stacked heel boots I've kinda decided are the ones that are gonna get abused when out riding along with my 505 Levi's. Since it was so late out, wasn't many folks around to even notice. Kinda cold out on the road, but my lower legs stayed kinda warm. Friday at the administration building - hard marble floors, no mistaking the sound - someone had to notice, but I wasn't aware of it. Did some shopping afterwards. Stopped at DSW where a sales associate helped me find what I was looking for. (Hey tech - they need a bumper sticker) Made a couple stops at the local mall, eat dinner, all the normal stuff, and not even a serious glance. Pretty much the same on Saturday. Sunday and it's time to head north, and it's freakin cold out. It might have been 50 degrees when I left, and with 200 miles to ride, it's gonna be a damned cold one too boot. Since my boots are under the jeans, it does keep the wind out, but when your riding in a wide open cycle with no faring, against a 15 mph wind straight out of the North, it doesn't do too much. Cold weather tip - nylons help. Stopped at an adult shop on thew way and found a pair of cheap nylons and put them on. Socks over them, and then the jeans. The gal at the counter said I was the third rider of the day. Seems a couple came in about an hour ago and did the same thing. They just take the edge off the chill. She did mention that I was at least smart enough not to wear Nike's and ride in the cold. Next stop (after many warm-up stops) was at a place called the "Iron Pony" to pick up a pair of chaps. Had thought about getting a pair once before, but with as cold as I was - price no longer becomes an issue. If your a rider, this place is like the ultimate supermarket of riding gear. Actually, I think it was a supermarket in a previous life. Sales lady fit me up with a great pair of leather chaps at a fantastic price. She had seen me walking through the shop, and when I came back to her area, her first comment was "It may be cold out there, but those boots are hot!" which kinda brought a smile to my face. She mentioned that she kinda knew what I was looking for before I made it to her department. After I had cashed out, Went back outside and was getting all my gear back on when a gal from the hot food wagon by the door came over and asked me how I could walk in boots that high. She saw me walk in and said she had to take a double take at my boots. She recognized the sound first. She couldn't understand how anyone could walk in boots like mine, and that she has seen "biker chick wannabe's" in Harley womens high heeled boots teetering along, but that I was better at it than all the girls she had seen recently. According to her, it looked natural, unlike most of the others she has seen, and yes, it's the first time she has seen a guy in heels. Talk about a confidence booster. The chaps made a big difference on the rest of the last 70 mile ride home. It was 41 degrees by the time I made too the house.
