I had a few hours to spare this morning so I thought I would post pictures of my recent boot purchases.

There are seven pairs and I have worn them all at various events locations both locally and whilst away on holiday last week. They all have moderate heels on them so I do consider them to be a public heeling occasion whenever I wear them.

The interesting thing is that some were sold as men's shoes and some as ladies.

Just for a bit of fun can you guess which are supposedly male and which are supposedly female? Also, so far, I have only had one woman look at one particular pair and tap the man with her on his shoulder to take a look at my feet, can you guess which pair that is also?

I think most people will get it right, or will they?

Good Luck, remember it's just for fun but I think it showshow easy it is to go public heeling with current ladies fashions.

You must have been working hard to take al those pictures. But I know by experience that it is also lots of fun. My guess is that you were spotted in nr. 7. One and three look very much like they could come from the male part of the shop. Maybe nr. 5 as well. The others look a bit more feminine. Of course I can be totally off. The first 6 pairs look like nobody will notice. And even if they do, it is hardly "out of line" by generally dictated standards. Keep having fun. Y.

Raise your voice. Put on some heels.

Number 3 is the male pair and I'm guessing that either number 7 or number 1 would be the pair you were spotted in.

Would have to go with Dr. Shoe on this one but you were spotted in pair number 7.

As a side line note (and not to steal the thread) I had the luck of talking to a Sales Rep for some of the big names in Western Boot Wear. He spotted me right away in a pair of womens boots with a 3" heel (hey - it's his job to notice) in a local tack shop. The owner. myself, another woman client whole who didn't seem to like the discussion and the Sales Rep talked for about a half hour.

Sales Rep's comments.

- Mens heel heights are coming down - and fast. Don't expect much over 1 3/8" heel in the future.

- One manufacturer is discussing creating a 'Western Show Re-enactors' line for some specialized boots

- Overall sales of western / Tack boots have plummeted with mens boots taking the biggest hit. The economy didn't help.

- One of the biggest surprises was that shortly after the release of the movie Brokeback Mountain, mens sales plummeted. Cowboy boots are gay - or so the buying public seems to have associated boots with gays and 'sheep herders'. This sales rep claims the movie set the boot industry back probably 5 years.

The store owner who also is a riding instructor doesn't sell many boots anymore, and won't stock many styles. She can't get the students to even consider boots even though she made it a requirement, she ignores it just to keep the students she has.

Agree that 7 would be the most likely to catch any attention, but primarily only because its patent leather and has a thinner heel, otherwise the heel is well hidden under your pants and shouldn't catch attention 99% of the time. As for how each was sold, they all look rather androgynous looking (except 7), so its a toss up either way, so here we go... (w= womens, m = mens): 1 - W (might see them sold as M too) 2 - W 3 - M (but have somewhat feminine features) 4 - W (could see them sold as M too) 5 - W 6 - W (might see them sold as M maybe) 7 - W

I am voting similarily to the others, #3 is a male boot while #7 is the one you were spotted in. #7's are fun an have pair of them too. Mtnsofheels

In regards to "Western Boot Wear", Mason Shoes and Sheplers always sold the highest cowboy heels and still do. I purchased from these companies via their mail order catalogs over the decades. Their prices are also usually significantly less than at brick-and-mortar stores.

For geniune Men's 2-inch cowboy heels in all sizes and widths, go to

For genuine Women's cowboy heels up to 4 inches high, go to

Note: these women's cowboy boots are the real McCoy (not mock or fake cowgirl boots like those sold by Pleaser USA). They are the kind worn by real cowgirls.

Ok so as I though most people were spot on. Pair 1 Sold as men's in a local independent shop Pair 2 Sold as women's from Stead and Simpsons. Pair 3 Sold as men's from Debenhams Pair 4-6. Sold as women's from Stead and Simpsons. Pair 7. Sold as women's from a shop called hypnotic in Birmingham Bull ring, all their shoes cost £8 so I am a regular there. I got spotted in pair 7 as everyone guessed but have worn all pairs without any problems. Pair 3 have now been commented on by women three times saying how nice they are for mens shoes. I must admit they are the only pair of male shoes I have had in many years I actually like and enjoy wearing.
