I just came back from the museum. I was wearing jeans, a long sleeved denim shirt, and my black thigh boots with 5” stiletto heels and the long laces.
The parking lots were packed so I had to bark about a block away and have a nice walk along the street. I went to the museum to see an Andrew Wyeth show. When I got there I discovered there was a ballet company putting on a show in the grand hall that was based on Wyeth. I found a spot to stand and watch the show from the second floor. I had a great view but the operative word was “stand”. I discovered it’s one thing to walk around in 5” stilettos for a couple of hours, and quite another to just stand in one spot for 30 min. Lets just say I was glad when the performance was over.
I walked through one gallery and sketched a bit then went to the Wyeth show. The show was in two of the larger galleries and it took a while to walk through it. Great show by the way.
I don’t know why, bit there were a lot more gals wearing heels today. There were also several boot wearers. One gal had on a pair of very nice black leather knee length boots with 4” stiletto heels. I chatted with her a bit about the Monet but neither of us mentioned our boots. There was even a guy in lace up brown suede boots.
The guards, as usual, went out of their way to greet me and the patrons didn’t even seem to notice what I was wearing.
It was a good museum trip.

6'8" --- my goodness. I'm 6'5" in 5" stilettos and I'm a little conscious of how tall I am when in a line at the grocery, but 6’8” ... I can see where that might attract a bit of attention.
My congratulations on your outting.

I thought I would try JeffB’s advice so I went to Sam’s wearing a dark brown suede coat and matching knee length skirt, a blue turtleneck, hose, and my black leather thigh boots with 5” stiletto heels but I had them cuffed down to knee length. The boots look like a tall pair of knee length boots and distinctive because if the new long lacing I put on last week. The matching browns did give the outfit a coordinated look. I didn’t get too much of a different reaction than I normally do. A couple of glances, and that was about it. The store employees I ran into noticed the difference but their used to seeing me in a shorter skirt and thigh boots so the longer skirt was no big deal. I asked the register clerk, who I see almost every week, if she agreed with some of my friends (you folks) that a longer skirt and the shorter boots looked better? She looked for a while and said that either one worked and it really was my preference. She said her preference, for her, was a longer skirt and she indicated about mid calf. I’ll try a longer skirt and knee length boots a few more times but, right now, my preference is for the shorter one with thigh length boots. I’ll let you know how it goes.

One more day of wearing boots with a 2” block heel to work. I’m sure everyone that was going to notice has and no one has said a thing other than the comment that I looked a little taller.
One thing I hadn’t mentioned is that I taught a class Wednesday and a follow up class today where I had a bunch of the folks in a conference room with me and I was standing at a white board for 3 hrs Wed and 1.5 hrs today.
Since it’s starting to warm up a bit I may have to wear something a little different. No stilettos but some other block heel may be in the offing.
Wearing boots really has been great.

Sounds like a great place to work. I spent 26 years in an academic environment and it really keeps you young, broke, but young.
Enjoy it.

I actually got started heeling in public with a pair of thigh boots.

I’ve worn my boots for two more days and I plan on wearing them tomorrow. Still no one has said or asked anything. That is not a complaint. I did wear them when I stopped at the Goodwill (thrift store) this afternoon. I found a pair of black leather “biker shorts” that look and feel great. Best part is they were only $2.

Thanks for the kind words. I actually agree with JeffB that knee length boots would look better with a longer skirt. but I really do enjoy my thigh boots and I'm not trying to make a fashion statement. The video stuff is just about having fun.

I have been wearing dark blue leather boots with a 2” block heel to work under slacks and jeans for over a week now. Today I got my first reaction as I walked past two manager types (that is a very loosely defined entity in our shop). One guy did give a noticeable downward glance as I walked by and as I came back the other guy said, “I thought you were a little taller”. I just said, “there comfortable” and kept going. As long as the weather is messy I may as well wear them for a little longer. They sure do feel great.

I created another video that shows off the new laces on my thigh boots. I just had the boots repaired and spotted the long leather laces at the cobbler shop.
There is also a bit about the snow we have had.
The skirt is the same one I wore the Sam’s club recently. The only difference in the outfit was a heavier coat at Sam’s.

Nice looking boots.
I drive in thigh boots with 5" stiletto heels all the time, often several hours a day. Its all a matter of getting used to where the heel is and making sure it dosen't get in the way. After a little while it become second nature.

I got my favorite pair of black leather thigh boots with 5” stiletto heels back from the cobbler. I had worn out another pair of heel tips and the sole. I had them half soled and had the cobbler let the sole extend a little bit wider than the original to give a little more protection to the side of the boot where my too wide foot had stretched things a little. Having new heel tips is always a treat but the new soles are a little softer compound than the original so the boots have a little more traction and the feeling when I’m walking in them is wonderful.
I had also worn out the laces that run up the back top of the boots. The original lace was a white thread that had vinyl stitched to make the lace. I spotted a pair of 72” long black leather laces hanging behind the counter. I bought a pair and replaced the lacing.
This lets me tie an large bow on the back of each boot and still have long ends swinging about. I think the look is great. I’m considering lacing them with a contrasting color.
Metal tip -
Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like you having fun with your boots.

I had a good day at work. Most of the office was back after the ice storm but it was still cold and messy so I wore jeans again. I also wore my blue leather boots with the 2” block heel. So far no one has said a word and I’m sure several people noticed. This is two days in a row that I’ve worn them and tomorrow is a casual day so I’ll wear them again then to. I really am enjoying wearing them.
I went shopping last night at Sam’s Club wearing jeans and the blue knee boots. There were a couple of folks that worked real hard at sneaking a look at what I was wearing. I asked the register clerk if these boots were any better than the tall ones I normally wore. She said they looked nice but didn’t have as high a heel. I told her my other ones (my thigh boots) were being repaired.
I did have my thigh boots resoled and new heel tips put on. I really did wear the sole of the boots out.
I went shopping again tonight but I was wearing a skirt so that is the subject for another thread.

I went to Sam’s Club after work tonight. In spite of the fact it was cold (15F) I wore a heavy brown suede coat, black tights, a 15” brown leather skirt and my black leather thigh boots with 5” stiletto heels. 5” heels on snow and ice means walking very carefully. When I got in the store I think the folks that know me were a little surprised by my outfit. I have worn the same thing before but not when it was as cold. I did overhear one “Well now I’ve seen everything” from across the store and several of the new stock clerks had their eyes hung out on stems, but for the most part the shopping was uneventful. I got the same register clerk I had last night and she said, “I see you got your heels back”. I had picked up a couple pair of slacks while I was shopping and I asked her, “Do you appreciate the irony of a guy wearing heels and a skirt buying slacks?” She said she did and was going to ask me about that. I told her they were for work. We bid each other a good evening.

We have had a real ice storm for the past two days. Today there are only 3 (of about 40) people in the office. I took advantage of that and wore jeans and my blue leather boots with 2” block heels under my jeans. I’ve stopped and talked to several of the other fools and I really don’t think anyone noticed at all. I will stop at several stores on the way home and I’ll wear the boots over my jeans. I’ll let you know if there is a different reaction.

Heels –
It’s always good to welcome another thigh boot enthusiast.
WELCOME
Those are nice looking boots.
Chris’ advise about "it being up to you" is right on target. I do, however, wear mine in public. It’s a bit of a chore but you might read through the Thigh boots in public thread.
The short answer is to pull your boots on and look at yourself in a full length mirror. (I recommend wearing them over jeans). If you like what you see and are comfortable with what you are wearing (mentally and physically) then go for it. If you are unsure, don’t go out. If you have enough confidence in yourself, others will pick up on it and respect it; but if you have any doubts, others will see that too and take advantage of it.
The hardest step is getting out of the car the first time. You have to like the way you look and have the confidence to say, “Ok world, here I am”. A word of caution, once you start wearing boots in public, its hard to stop.
To start, I recommend going to places where you won’t get any hassle. Good candidates are museums, malls, any large store.
Enjoy your boots!

In all the pictures, the goal was to mirror the images. In the first picture Krista was wearing gloves, thigh boots, and leather pants and so was I. The second picture was a jacket, leggins and boots.

Before you ask, no, it not an obsession. These just happen to be some images that are fun to play with, but Krista was my favorite model.

The boots I'm wearing boots are my first pair of thighboots. I bought them in Dallas Texas over 18 years ago and had forgotten about them. The heel is only 3" but it was towering at the time. The lining is about worn out but they still have some wear left in them. I’m glad I found them again.

That was a great outing and the pumps look good to. The dark hose do let them blend in better. I have found that museums are a great place to go heeling. I wear thigh boots to every museum I tour. The first time the staff always looked a little surprised (who wouldn't) but they have always treated me very nicely and often have supportive comments.

I obviously have too much time on my hands.

GNH - This is an image of Krista from issue 10 of (the now defunct) thighboots.com. I think she is from Canada and was my favorite model on the site. I should have given a credit.

Great looking boots... all 4 of them.

I wore my dark blue boots to work again yesterday. There is still enough snow that I can also wear jeans. I think a couple of my co workers noticed but they really are good folks and too polite to say anything. The first day I wore my boots and yesterday I went to the local hardware store (first time to buy something, and yesterday to exchange it for what I really needed). I’m sure no one even noticed my boots. This really is a departure from my normal philosophy on wearing boots. My normal mode is don’t hide them. My experience has been, the more you try to hide them the more people will pay attention. I normally wear thigh boots over my jeans and people ignore me all the time. But then, I don’t wear them to work. I think it has to do being in a place I can’t easily just walk away from. Most of the places where I wear my thigh boots, it is of little consequence to me if I go back to that place or not. Work is a different matter. I’m taking this slowly.

Normally I don’t mix heels and work but the weather today presented an opportunity. We had 6” (15 cm) of snow yesterday and the temperature is getting up to 20F (-6C). The streets and parking lots have been cleared but there is still a lot of snow to walk through. Today at work I wore jeans, a dark blue turtleneck and dark blue leather knee length boots with a 2 ¾” block heel worn under my jeans. The jeans cover the boots and most of the heel. The floor at work is carpeted so there is no sound from the heel. I don’t think anyone has even noticed. I know, it’s not thigh boots with 5” stilettos over jeans but at least I’m wearing boots at work and that is a big change. All I know is it feels great (warm to). This is something I may back off from very quickly but for the moment I’m enjoying it. As a note in passing, both of the real “he man” type guys I work with stayed home because of the snow.

Pumps - I wholeheartedly agree it has a lot to do with the person wearing the pumps. My thigh boots have generated what I considered a little interest, more curiosity than interest, maybe three times in three years, but nothing like our friend Kneehighs.
I am in admiration of to his great adventures, and offering my thanks for sharing them with the rest of us.
