  1. I hope they break in well. I think you were a little to aggressive to walk that far without a break-in period. Next time carry Band-aids with you, or wear nylon hosiery to prevent blisters in the first place. Take shorter walks more frequently from now on.

    Wishing you a speedy recovery.

  2. "...and the last pic is a pair of pumps form Aerosoles called Magical Power - very comfortable, but excuse the pump and jean combo (inside joke - ha ha)….  c ya."

Explanation: SF and I had an email exchange recently and I commented that my wife (a very conservative gal who grew up in the 1950s and 60s) was taught by her mother that jeans and heels were a slutty look worn by hookers and the like. To this day she won't wear dressy heels with jeans. So I have to do it. Ha, ha ha!

Great post, SF. Glad the compliment you received was so positive. Compliments like that really do prove that some people are impressed with our courage to break the rules and march to our own drummer. Good job! Thanks for sharing.

  3. I was looking at Target's web site 3 weeks ago and found their Lynde Block Heel Sandals attractive, so I took a chance and for $29.99 I bought a pair in tan. They arrived a week later. I've been wearing them frequently and they feel pretty good, but I haven't broken them in fully yet. I wear them to work, but most of my work is sitting down rather than standing or walking, so that doesn't help to break them in. Anyway, I posted a review under the name Steve here and they printed it under the tab "guest reviews." Since that web site will disappear when the shoe is sold out, I post the review here:

"I wear sandals as much as I can, and I really like heeled sandals. When I saw this style on Target's web site a couple of weeks ago, I liked the look and decided to order a pair in brown. They arrived about a week later, and I could tell the moment I put them on that I was going to wear them a lot this summer. They go great with my long Merona bootcut jeans which I bought at Target last season and wear all the time. These sandals are well made. They have a 3 1/2 inch stacked heel in s ize 11 and the arch is in the right place for me. I have bunions and not all sandals are comfortable, but these are. The straps, while not leather, do stretch and fit well. The functional buckle is attached to an elastic piece that stretches to keep constant tension on the instep strap so it's always comfortable while walking or sitting. I was concerned that the back strap would slip down off my heel, but no, it stays on very well. The non-slip sole is a real plus for safe walking on marble or vinyl floors. The color is a very nice light to medium brown, and the smart-looking stacked heel is very stable because the bottom surface measures 1 3/4 inches both front-to-back and side-to-side. Because the sandals are inexpensive and not leather, they're perfect for wearing in inclement weather and I won't worry about getting them wet occasionally. And I like them so much I'm ordering them in black, too! Thanks, Target, for making these in larger sizes for customers like me!"

After I bought them, naturally the price came down to $23.99, so I bought them in black too. I'm going to have a fun summer!

  4. Yes, Shafted's idea is clearly easier and would have been cheaper, too. But anyway, thanks for the post and I'm glad you had a good time on your outing. Those are great looking boots and the heels aren't really outlandish for a guy. I have knee boots (Clark's Ruby Sparkle) that have about the same shaped heel and I have never gotten comments on them, even wearing them with the pants tucked in.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the outing and have more confidence now. Way to go!

  5. Those sandals look great, Mlroseplant! I like your fashion taste a lot. I have some Born sandals with a 4" cone heel that are not too different from the second ones, and I love wearing them. A small platform like that looks great and is easy to walk in.

We need to meet in person someday and share shoes and stories!

  6. Chorlini,

Nobody can predict the future. You might be right, but maybe not. And then it all depends on what you mean by high heels. Do you mean very femme shoes with stiletto heels and flowers, lace or lots of bling, or do you mean something more subdued, like wedge sandals or platform loafers with block heels? I can see the latter coming back into style for men. It's been a while, but fashions go in cycles. Stiletto pumps for men may not happen, but stiletto boots - might be. Never say never.

Regardless, like many others here, I'm not waiting until high heels for men are "accepted" by society and become commonplace. I'm going out now, having fun in heels that I'm comfortable wearing and, more importantly, that my wife is comfortable with me wearing, and enjoy strutting my stuff. If others don't like it, too bad. I don't care for some of the stuff they wear either, but I'll be polite and withhold comments and judgment. I hope they do the same. If I get compliments on my choice (or my confidence), great, but that's not my objective.

You only go through this life once, and if you don't make the most of it, you can't go back and replay the video a different way. Nobody ever said on his death bed, "Gee, I wish I didn't wear heels out so much!"

  7. I'll reinforce what Bluejay said. I was never a fan of pedicures - until I had one! Then I was amazed! The process was wonderful, with a very enjoyable and relaxing foot massage. The finished product - the artistically done toenails - was so much better looking than what I had before. I even get my fingernails colored now! I don't go for the bright reds and pinks like Bluejay does. I stick with more muted colors like metallic copper and satin dusky rose. My friends think I'm weird, but they thought that before anyway, and they're still my friends - I haven't lost any because of my choice to color my nails. The main thing is that my wife likes the way I take care of my nails! Grooming is important to her, and colored nails show the world you care about the details. So go for it, Jeff. Ask the women in your office where they get their nails done and to recommend a good salon. Go there, walk in like you're a customer (!) and enjoy the experience. Tip well if they do a good job and you'll be welcome to come back again and again. The gals at the local salon love me! Maybe it's the chocolate candy I bring that has something to do with it!
