  1. Ahh yes, found the culprit boots here with specs: Cost - $1495 (youch), they are 5¾" heel (145mm) with a 1½" (40mm) platform. So they are comperable to a 4¼" heel. What a wimp Miley is... but she is only 17, so I guess give her an E for effort :(

Looks like we were both within a ¼ inch of the true height Dr Shoe (me from the total height, and you from the height excluding the platform). :(

must be something wrong with miley if she could not walk or stand in these boots. she should try walking 10 miles in them. i recently completed a 10 mile charity walk wearing a pair of 6'' stiletto platform sandals. the platforms were only 1.75'' which makes them the same in comparison. the best bit is that i have only ever walked in high heels twice, both of which was for charity:smile::wave::smile:
  2. well i thought i would add a little extra to let everyone know how well i did on my 10 mile walk. as you may of gathered i completed the 10 mile walk in 6'' heels which took 8 hours including stops. what i did not bargain on was the agony i would be in for the next 2 or 3 weeks. i had blisters so bad i had to walk around wearing flip flops for 2 weeks as my little toes were in agony. it is coming up 3 weeks now and today i pulled off some dead skin from one of my little toes which is still tender and while doing this the toe nail came away as well. that means as well as having some very painful blisters i lost BOTH my toe nails on my little toes. the only good thing is that i never had blisters on the soles of my feet which i put down to the ITSOLES i was testing. at the end of the day i promised my wife that i would complete the 10 miles for cancer research uk and completed it i did. a total of £690 was raised which is fantastic:smile::)

  3. On 28 August 2010 I completed a 10 mile walk wearing 6’ high heels to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The walk was actually meant to take place the previous Saturday but due to adverse weather conditions was postponed until the following weekend.

You must be wondering how the hell I managed to complete such a long walk in high heels. I will tell you straight. My feet are now killing me but due to a secret weapon they are not as bad as they could have been. I was sponsored by a company to test a product called ITSOLES which are currently undergoing testing. My task was to test them for durability. If I tell you that I weigh 14.5 stones or to the Americans 203 Lbs. (92kgs) you will understand what sort of pressure they had to endure. I was actually walking for 8 hours all of which was on tarmac paving.

The first 5 miles was reasonably easy which is what I expected as I had already completed 5 miles in 7.5’’ heels the previous year. The heels I wore this year were a lot easier to walk in as the platform was only 1.75’’ compared to 4’’ on the pair I wore last year. The rise was a lot more which made me wonder if I would actually complete 5 miles let alone 10 miles. Another difference is that the heels had padded insoles as well as the secret weapon. I also had the heels tipped with steel tips which made me sound like a 2 legged horse. Contrary to what people said about walking with steel tips I found them no problem at all. What I did notice at the end of 10 miles is that one of them was very lose and could be pulled out with a good tug. They were barely half worn and would be good for another 15 to 20 miles

I started to get blisters after around 4 miles and I knew then that the last 5 miles would be painful but I did not give in and just kept plodding along. After 8 miles I was in severe agony but I still kept going. I could see the end getting nearer all the time. My legs felt like they were buckling underneath me. The last mile was the hardest mile I had ever walked in my life. Oh how I was looking forward to putting my feet up. I promised my wife that I would double the 5 miles for her and that is what I was going to do. No way was I giving in I wanted to do the full 10 miles.

There was one very funny bit near the end. A person was putting money in the collection bucket and when I told her I was nearly finished she asked ‘’have you got far to go’’? I replied ‘’no only to my car there’’ pointing to my car that was 15 feet in front of me. I told her that I was not finished until my hand touches the car.

What I have now learnt when doing a high heel walk of this nature is to get into a rhythm and keep to the rhythm. As I was wearing stiletto heels I also had to keep an eye open for cracks in the path which would of ended the walk on the spot as its highly likely that the heel would of broke as well as injuring me. I had a few trips but not as many as the 5 mile walk wearing the larger platforms. As I got nearer to the end I found I was having more trips so for safety reasons I decided to have more stops to rest my feet.

Even though I put plasters on my toes and feet before setting off they helped a little bit but I still ended up with at least half a dozen blisters on my toes

I don’t know how much money I collected in the bucket on the walk but I have an idea that it’s in excess of £500. I will let everyone know once it’s been counted

If you are wondering how you go about buying the insoles I was testing they will cost £14.95. They are called ITSOLES and will be available shortly direct from www.itsoles.com they sound rather expensive but compared to other similar items I have tried these knock the spots off all of them. You get none of the problems normally associated with normal insoles such as slipping. They work great in open toe sandals which is what I wore on my 10 mile walk. Try some, you won’t be disappointed.:)

  4. at long last i have completed my ten mile high heel walk. this was made possible by the insoles i was testing. they are due for sale very soon and will cost £14.95. this sounds expensive but compared to other products i have tried these are absolutely fantastic and worth every single penny. they are a high heel wearers dream and what they have been waiting for since the invention of high heels. they will be available at www.itheels.com.

there is non of the problems that are normally associated when wearing other insoles especially when wearing open toe sandals like i was IE: slipping out of the toe opening.

i am going to be endorsing these for ITSOLES and as yet im the only man to test them. when new they smell of lavender and they still smell of lavender after 10 miles (no cheesy feet). they were also still in ''as new'' condition with lots of life left in them. not once did i have to re attach them to their fasteners

i higly reccommend them. go and get some when they are available:smile::):):rose::smile:

  5. Let us know how it turns out! I don't think I'd be one to try that.

Its not as bad or as hard as you may think. if you look at my avatar you will see me in a pair of 7.5'' platforms. these were the first pair of heels that i wore and i walked 5 miles in them for charity on the same route as the 10 mile walk but only one way. i think i done well for my first time in heels. it only took 3.5 hours to complete the 5 miles. it was also done for charity. i got the idea of heeling for charity from the ''WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES'' charity in the USA. i wanted to do something a bit different from the norm hence the high heels. it is also good fun and a good way to raise money for good causes. maybe all members of HHP forum should have a go for charity
  6. BAD NEWS. I have to tell you all that I did not complete my 10 mile high heel walk. The reason is because there has been very poor weather all weekend with high winds and torrential rain. As the walk is taking place along the sea front you can imagine how horrendous the weather would be. GOOD NEWS. I am going to attemt it on Saturday 28 August presuming the weather is suitable. The walk takes place at Swansea in South Wales. UK and I will be walking on the seafront cycle path from Mumbles pier to Civic hall and back to the pier which is a total of 10 miles. I have uploaded an aerial view of the bay showing the route. Mumbles pier is at the point labled ''from here''

  7. OOh, you reminded me of this study:

    http://faoj.org/2010/03/01/influence-of-high-heeled-footwear-and-pre-fabricated-foot-orthoses-on-energy-efficiency-in-ambulation/

Relating to heel height and the efficiency of the gait in relation to energy expenditure. Really interesting. They compared with a couple of existing inserts and noted that high heels were rated as easier to wear and that seemed to correspond to a decrease in energy use in the gait.

Something to read, could just be one of those studies done by the companies that have insoles in the study. In either case interesting enough.

You'll have to run the 10 miles again without the inserts and tell us the difference in comfort. I'm kidding! >.<

i wouldnt laugh yet because if they are suitable i am even considering using them to walk a marathon in heels (thats right 26 miles)
  8. Well, if I have got my dates right, you do the big 10M day after tomorrow (Sat 21st)

Good luck, let us know how it goes. we are all shouting for you

there has been a development today. have a look at my new post titled AMAZING NEW PRODUCT. this could be my secret weapon and the product every high heel wearer has been dreaming of:smile:
  9. Today I recieved a phonecall from a man named MARK SHEPHERD. For the last 3 years Mark has been developing a new kind of insole named the ITSOLE which has been designed for use with high heels. Thanks to my local radio station my name was passed on to him as this coming weekend I am participating in a 10 mile high heel sponsored walk. He was keen to contact me as he was looking for guinea pigs to try out and promote his new ITSOLES. What better way to test them for duribility then get a 14.5 stone (203Lbs) man to walk in them for 10 miles. I was more than willing as he was also willing to sponsor the charity £50. At first glimpse they look like strips of clear silicone jelly but I have been told this is not the case as they are a new material that he has invented and had patented himself. As the photo shows they are also different looking as they are in 2 parts for each shoe. First impressions look great but as the saying goes the proof is in the eating. As yet they are not on the market and are still undergoing tests (me being one of the testers). Mark is hoping to have them ready by christmas. i will of course let you know how they perform after i have done my walk and also post a picture or 2

  10. i had a pair of these for collecting fishing bait from the beach. the reason i chose jellies is that they are all plastic with nothing to rot. most other materials had problems. leather or canvas rotted out or fell apart and welly boots are just too damn warm in the middle of summer. the jellys i had were imported by a friend from southern europe and they lasted around 5 years before starting to rip. wish i could get another pair as i sick of knackering up trainers. flip flops are just a waste of time as they break when walking over rock pools and are rather dangerous

  11. Well its only a week to go before i attempt to walk 10 miles in a pair of 6'' heels. pleaser delight 609ln's to be precise. i will be raising money for cancer research. i know for sure that i will get plenty of strange looks but the locals in my part of the world are quiet understanding and appreciate when someone does something worthwile. i will be wearing pink including the heels. the heels have been made better to be capable of completing the 10 miles without wearing out but the question is ''AM I''? the heels are comfortable and i feel confident I will of course let everyone know how i got on. if i complete the walk i will be going for the big one. a 26 mile marathon. for that walk i will most likely choose a shoe from the pleaser divine, romance or dolly ranges. now you know why im called krazy kev:smile::):):rose::smile::D

  12. its hard to say what they would be like to walk in but how easy are these to walk in? they are the worlds highest heeled shoes with a 16'' heel and 11'' platform. i would love to have a go in them as long as i had someone to catch me if i fell. its along way down after all:smile::wave::smile::)

    post-17818-133522916067_thumb.gif

  13. they look impossible to walk in. on the other hand if someone put a pair in front of me i would be willing to give them a go. i am KRAZY KEV after all and i will try any heel given the chance:smile::):clap:

thank you pernilla, pussyinboots and pata for the additional info

i went to the milanoo website to see the shoes. (see picture below).

    they are absolutely stunning !

    now i can't stop thinking about them...

Looks like the picture is burned in my head !

The only solution to clear my brain will be to buy them and try them on ...

Is there a cure or a medical treatment to stop buying heels ?

yes. Amputation. Lol. You wont need any shoes then
  14. i am participating in a 10 mile walk wearing high heels to raise money for charity. i will be wearing 6'' stilettos that have had steel tips fitted so they last the full 10 miles. they will have a good clank which will be of an advantage to me as i need the attention. people will see me in my heels and hopefully put some dosh in the collection bucket. more attention the better:smile::wave::smile::)

  15. if you look at my avatar you will see me wearing a pair of PLEASER XTC 826 heels. these are 7.5'' monsters with 4'' platforms. would you believe me if i told you that i walked 5 miles wearing these and it only took me 3.5 hours? maybe not. a lot of other people never did either and a lot of people thought it could not be done. the best bit is that it was my very first time in heels both at home or outside. even after 5 miles my feet still felt fine except for 3 small blisters. i believe its the individual person and shoe choice that determines if a person suffers pain or not. if possible try some different styles and see what the results are:smile:

  16. Congratulations on your fund raiser. You were able to collect money for a good cause and had fun doing it. The positive feed back, especially from the ladies is nice. You look great in your heels and certainly did not hide them.

thanks mate. it would of been defeating the object if i had hid them. i also wish that i had chose a red pair which would of had more of a visual impact. i could also of had a pair of 7.5'' PLEASER XTC union jack boots which are almost identical to those worn by pop star geri halliwell of the spice girls.

the outfit i will be wearing to go with my 6'' pink sandals on a 10 mile walk to raise money for cancer research is even more outragious as the photo will show you:smile::):P:smile::sad::smile:

  17. cold be a good laugh - though there's not much info on their website. Rather poor effort if you ask me .. especially if its for charity!

i know. the relevant information is very poor. a lot of effort is needed if the event is to be a success. there might be more information on the yorkshire or national cancer research sites
