  1. Hi there

I have a question concerning Leatherworks. I wasn't around very much lately, but I heard that Leatherworks is still producing shoes and boots. That guy who runs 'Sky-Scrapers' told me that Leatherworks is producing shoes for him and for another trader only. Does anyone know who the other trader is?

    Thanks.

He told me Sky-Scrapers had gone bankrupt and that he bought all of their stock. But that he had found somebody else to make shoes for him. Some say it's the guys from Fabulously Fetish. I've bought shoes from Sky-Scrapers from before and after the demise of Leatherworks and the latter were different. They have more of a superarch to them. The insoles were different too and the heels are more narrow. However they don't feel like Fabulously Fetish shoes though as I can actually walk in them, whereas FF shoes seem to be designed to look awesome but hard to walk in. For me at least. That was one thing that I liked about the Leatherworks 5.5" heels, not the best looking but if you had to walk in them for an evening those would be the ones I'd pick. For a while though some FF shoes were sold via the Sky-Scrapers eBay webshop.

But that was more then a year ago. Maybe your information is more recent. If they are back in business then there are probably a lot of people who still want their money back from them. As for who the other shop is, I'm sure its not Laszivo, who used to sell Leatherworks shoes in the past. Based on their webshop they seem to have only a few pairs of Leatherworks shoes left. Old stock as it were. 99% of all web shops selling these kinds of shoes sell only Pleaser there aren't a whole lot of shops out there that would sell new Leatherworks shoes. If its true it would have to be a web shop that also sold them previously. Sky-Scrapers did it, as did Laszivo from Germany (awesome web shop with good service), La Piazza also did it, and I think Elite Heels also did as I recount Gina telling horror stories on how unreliable they were. There was one more webstore that I found but for the life of it I can't remember.

  2. Its not just the whole ' men ' buying. Its the scale at which ( or quantity ) in ratio to the tooling needed to make the larger sizes. Im quite sure they would ( probably ) sell them, but what would be the margin on them compared to say sizes 7, 8 and 9 which sell-out without a second thought. Why take a chance when they already have a market where they are making something and its selling? With a downed economy, why invest? Why risk?

Maybe because as I said women are getting bigger, thus a greater number of them have need for bigge sizes as well? I remember when I first set foot in shoestores in the 80's looking for large size heels size EU 42 was rarer then then gold. Now even size EU 43 can be found. I agree that most of the money is still to be found in the smaller sizes, but to ignore future trends makes for bad business in the long term. Unfortunately capitalism as we know it today is all about the short term.

If a designer is unhappy that someone might be willing to buy their product, they arent worth purchasing and I'll take my capitol elsewhere.

Its one of the reasons I believe C.L. can go ( I hope I word this correctly ) " Piss off ". So can his customers for supporting such a narrow minded individual. If im ' ridiculous ' for wanting to wear something, hes not much more then a pompous ass.

    http://www.inquisitr...t-in-his-heels/

“‘Men in high heels? That’s a prosthesis. But I sympathise. Women have these giant heels. They get taller and taller. The men need help, but a man in heels is ridiculous.”"

No argument there. If only because I find his shoes uglier then shit. But I doubt he is the only one in the industry and I can see business executives come to the conclusion that because some women might be offended they would rather have no men browsing for shoes in their stores. And while they can't stop small sized men, stopping bigger sized men is easiest by shifting that part of the inventory to the online business.

To me there is no way I can wear heels better than a lady, and never seeing a man in heels apart from a heelmeet I cannot comment. Most girls I see seem to handle their heels very well, but there are a few that can't. All I know is I'am ok in heels up to 3 inches and can walk quite normally with no problems all day if need be, but over 3 inches that's a different story, I can cope but that's about it, and I have tried Steves 160 odd hours trick but that does not seem to work more like 300 hours needed, but I am quite happy with 3 inches of heel sticking out from the bottom of my jeans. each to their own and all that. In the UK most girls sizes go up to 8 rare sometimes to find 9's but as I am only a size 7 no problems.

I'm not so sure most women wear heels better then men. They have more opportunity to practice, as nobody will think anything of it if a woman wears heels, but overall....., I don't see a lot of women in heels anymore. Most seem to go for comfortable flats. And those that do wear them I see a lot of bend knees. And I know quite a number of girls who can't even wear heels. Oh, they'll put them on for the right occasion. But within the hour they're back in flats again. Women in heels are becoming the exception, not the norm. The evil sneaker has wrought its evil influence.

I wonder where all those high heeled women are that the fashion mags I read at the doctor's keep talking about. Cause I sure as hell don't see them where I live.

  3. I'm not into producing much sounds for myself either. Love it when women do it though. Always makes me check out the source. On a sidenote, have any of you experienced hearing the stiletto click and looking around thinking you get to see something spectacular, only to see a woman walk by in like ballet flats or something else low and unspectacular? The sound does not always match up with that you expect.

  4. If the market place truly responds to consumer demand then these stocks of in-store larger sizes SHOULD be increasing.

Thing is, free market capitalism does not always respond in the way that you think would be logical, but which instead delivers the most (short term) profit. Which may not be logical at all. Like hostile takeovers to strip a company of its assets for short term gain. It maybe that while the demand for larger sizes may be up, they have decided that with the stiff competition from online sales its more profitable to concentrate on the average female consumer in the more standard sizes. And leave the bigger sizes to online sales.

I am convinced now that there are more men buying large size women's shoes than there are women buying large size women's shoes which may explain this apparent store shortage.

I think that since everybody is getting larger thanks to better nutrition women and their feet have also been getting larger. So more demand for larger sizes from them too. But suppose your right, it could be that these shops don't want all these male customers looking for high heels in their shops, that they feel this makes their base, their female customers, feel uneasy. I know that there are some shoe designers who refuse to release larger sizes because they don't want male customers. So one way to deal with that would be to shift the larger sizes to online sales, where nobody can be made to feel uncomfortable.

  5. Not my thing. But then again I really dislike platforms. From the front they make the foot look like its walking on a brick and from the back it's cheating. You think 'hey, that person really knows how to walk in their heels and....., never mind, platforms again'. I really miss the days when all heels were without platforms, or just relics from the 70's.

  6. To get off topic just a bit.

Science has discovered that it our attempts to curb "global warming", that our attempts at fixing the problem have made it worse. How you ask?

There are two type of air pollution gaseous and particulate. The greenhouse gasses are of the gaseous type,

Particulate air pollution lowers the global temp while greenhouse gasses raise it. The problem is the only one we've been cleaning up is the particulate type. The net effect is a temperature rise. Our attempts at fixing it are making the problem worse.

Imagine that, the legislation intended to protect the environment is destroying it.

The environmentalist are destroying the planet.

I disagree. While I believe that most activists fall into the category 'road to hell paved with good intentions' what clearly caused this was insufficient information. There was a problem, and clearly pollution was at its core fault. What they didn't know at the time was that there were multiple types of greenhouse gasses with different effects.

Unfortunately the Earth's climate is a very chaotic and hard to understand system. It's not like we can easily observe and understand it under laboratory conditions. And yes, like in most cases when you lack all the information that you need to make a decision sometimes the best (or least worst) decision is to do nothing. Still, we cannot pollute the environment like there is no tomorrow. Ending pollution because it makes sense alone is a good enough reason.

I'd like to ask everyone to reflect on their education from ( for some of us ) ' way back when '. Im grade school, I learned about the Woolly Mammoth. He was supposedly killed off from the ' Ice Age '. Was anyone else taught about the Ice Age where the planet was frozen over? Glaciers carving up the planets surface creating lakes and pushing large rocks to help make mountains?

So.. if the planet was frozen at one point.. and life came from the oceans due to them covering a large portion of the planet.. why isnt such being mentioned at all?

Except the Earth was never frozen as you put it. At best global temperature dropped enough for the polar ice caps to extend themselves southwards to a large degree. But that still left most of the planet free of ice and left the tropics still tropical.

Fact is, ' Climate Change ' is nothing new and has been happening for millions/billions of years.

True. But more evidence then ever points to the current climate change being of human origin. And even if it didn't, it still makes good common sense to not pollute the planet that you live on. Unfortunately it makes no business sense to do so. Which means that we're in the mess we're in because of greed. And unfortunately climate isn't the only mess we're currently in because of that.

I suppose I've always viewed gallantry as not exploiting someone's weakness. Picking on someone your own size. But it has a thing, doesn't it, of looking after them too. But certainly, to be gallant is to be aware of someone's vulnerability.

Like I said, in politics there are no awards for finishing second place. And if voters didn't reward smear campaigning and dirty tricks with votes the politicians wouldn't do it all the time. It's that simple. If people wouldn't reward assholes there wouldn't be any assholes. People are usually really good at knowing when something works in their advantage or not.

It used to be that when politicians were on campaign they held political rallies and people would go there and listen to their politicians. Sometimes for hours. This was before the rise of the mass media. Imagine what a difference it makes in people's political perceptions when they take the time to listen to everything a politician says, instead of just the 5 second soundbyte on the news. Now that people get their information from 5 second soundbytes is it any wonder that dirty campaigning is so successful? Soundbytes distort political realities and turn what used to be well informed opinions into 'I have a feeling this guy might be on the level'. But feelings are easily swayed by planting a seed of doubt. And it doesn't even have to be true. And that's why dirty politics is so successful and here to stay. Gallantry in politics, like in real life, is dead. And we all killed it.

  7. I have one pair of black ballet pumps and I really like the style, they're very comfortable and pretty. I have another 3 pairs in different colours but they don't have the little string tied as a bow at the fron so I guess technically they're not "ballet" flats without that?

Based on what my eBay searches constantly bring up I'd say otherwise. ;)

  8. When I first went to high school and began noticing girls ballet flats were the shoes of choice for these young girls. One even modeled hers for us. Since then I've always considered ballet flats to be the only flats that look both feminine and sexy on a woman. Since they seem to be back in fashion again I too went over to the Dark Side and ordered some. And again I discovered that my size in ballet flats is smaller then in high heels. Not as much as with strappy heels though. For heels I go for a size US 13 or 14, but for ballet flats my size seems to be a US 12. Oddly enough in UK sizes I'm not a 10 ( as a US 12 is usually a UK 10) but a 9. I like 'm in black, brown, gold and bronze leather mostly, with a little bow(but not a big one) on top. They're great slippers and so far the only female footwear I wear outside the house.

  9. Why take risks? It's your hard-earned money. Don't waste it. There are plenty of good, reliable, shoe shops that cater to all kinds of needs, so go where the reputation is good and where you know you'll get good service and good product.

    Steve

Well, sometimes you want something that's different. Or in a bigger size then size 11 or if you're very lucky size 12. Or a little higher then 4" without those accursed platforms. And then you suddenly no longer have that much choice with those good old reliable shoe shops, who most of them unfortunately only seem to cater to the most common denominator. In my case I can't even shop in most of those good old reliable shoe shops because they have absolutely nothing in my size to begin with. I'm sure others have their reasons as well.

In all fairness though, I've yet to experience a real rip off. Although La Piazza came close.

  10. I once ordered a pair of heels from them years ago. It took more then a year for them to deliver. Always the problem was with their factory. After a year I had completely forgotten that I had ordered from them, more or less given up. Then one day, on a whim, I sent them a reminder and soon thereafter got the shoes. Later I noticed that they were the same kind of build and design as those of Leatherworks so I guess that was their factory. Not very recent experience, but that's my experience with them.

  11. Indeed. Throughout that video Mariah Heels seems to be the only one who wears high heels and dressed with some style. When I go out, be it on a shopping day or a night out I only see girls and women shabbily dressed for comfort. Putting in an effort to look good seems to be a dying art form amongst women these days. God bless that still know how.

  12. Interesting. Although personally I wouldn't call 3" heels high heels, but that's me. Still, I'm not going to do better then them. I can't even stand on a surfboard on land. On a barely related sidenote, why do they always maximize the sound to full on these online vids? Each time I open one of them it becomes a race to look for the volume control before my ears start to bleed.

  13. I once saw this makeover program on the BBC where they had one of their newsreaders and they were instructed that because of her job they couldn't do sexy. Speaking of British television presenters, didn't the BBC local news for London have this smart dressed Indian woman who was always wearing boots and heels?

  14. Quite frankly, I have no idea who is a celebrity and who isn't. I don't consider it important in my life. Most times if somebody mentions a celebrity's name, I respond, "Who?" It doesn't actually qualify me to moderate this thread as such.

A healthy attitude. Especially in this day and age full of reality TV stars who are only famous for being famous. Let alone keeping tracks of celebs from other countries.

  15. They have a show room, where some styles are for sale.

Is this arch super enough for you?

    http://www.fabulousl...e-up-ankle-boot

I dunno. I have two pairs of fabulously fetish and one of 6ihf and they just don't feel the same. Admittedly there's an arch effect going on with FF but that might just be because they are 6 inch heels. This because Leatherworks used to make 6 inch heels as well and those also had that arch effect, even though their 5.5 inch heels didn't.

  16. What do men know/ And what do we care? It's not like we wear them for you.

I think we happen to know what looks good on a woman better then they do. We may not be able to explain it, but when we see it, we know it. Even if only for the simplest reason that you look at yourself only briefly in a mirror while we look at you all the time.

I also happen to think that the reverse is also true, that women know better then men what looks good on them.

  17. Having looked at both sites it looks like allexpress is a little cheaper and gives you all the ordering information you need in order to decide. But they offer less options as far as size and color and concerned, whereas with 7heel the sky seems to be the limit as far as customization is concerned, including custom measurements. I still wouldn't be surprised if it all came from the same factory that 6ihfl also uses.

  18. Interesting. I guess it would seem that I am not the only one then.

My theory about this is that with a sandal, you want both ends of your feet to be closer to the edge of the insole of the shoe than with a fully enclosed shoe or boot. We DEFINITELY don't want any overhang on either the toe or the heel, but we also don't want a big excess of real estate there either.

excess in the toe area has never been my problem, because of me sliding downwards. It's the inch that now sticks out behind my heel because of that slippage that looks ugly.

For this reason, I find that buying sandals is much harder than buying shoes. I don't know how many times I've had to take a pass on a pair of otherwise great-looking, comfortable sandals because when I tried them on, there was a good 3/4 of an inch between the front of my big toe and the front of the sandal. No thank you.

I wish I could go into a store and try a sandal on. A size 10 is usually the biggest that 99% of all shoe stores carry. I don't even bother going into stores any more. It's webshops exclusively for me. Unfortunately you can't try them on before you buy online.

Sounds like you have a narrow or a thin foot.

Or sweaty feet? I find that sandals that at first fit well, after some wearing and feet sweating the sweats starts to acts like a lubricant and with a smooth insole it means slipping and sliding.
