  1. Nice! I'm working on building the nerve to wear open toes or flip flops with my dark purple toes! Thanks for posting.

    Just do it!

That looks like a very comfortable and relaxed summer style Mr X, the whole outfit flows with the fit of the jeans and it would all fall apart without the wedge heels, they're perfect.

I agree with what you said that just a friendly conversation would be great. It's not that we shock people as such, but what we choose to wear does tend to surprise people or catch them off guard, and we end up feeling like the invisible man. I think that having taken the initiative with fashion by wearing our heels, we also have to take the initiative to spark a conversation sometimes, I've found that people tend to respond very positively once we break the ice. The rare occasions that someone chooses to make a nice remark under their own initiative, that's just a bonus.

I couldn't have said it better myself

  2. New day, new travel!  I decided to do some window shopping so I thought I would use this time to put something together outfit wise, and get out.

Today the outfit got a little "interesting".  I have been getting manicures and pedicures for some time now.  It is heaven!  I really suggest everyone try it at least once!  After the first time, I was hooked!  I can see why women enjoy it so much lol.  I always come out so relaxed.  It can get pricey though so I don't go very often.  Maybe 2-3 times a year.  The place I go the staff is great and I get great service everytime!  They treat me like any other paying customer, be they male or female.  I never get color on my nails because I would have a hard time explaning that to people I know.  But every now and again I will get some color put on my toes. I can usually keep them hidden until it wears off or I decide to take it off manually.  I had one done a couple of weeks back and decided to go for some color.  I got a grape purple put on my toes.  It is starting to wear off but still in plain view if I want it to be.

Now back to today.  I new it was going to be warm out today so I wanted to wear something with an open toe.  Now when I was putting my outfit together today I realized that my purple toes would be on display the whole time, even if my shoes were somewhat hidden.  this was uncharted waters for me.  I "almost" ended up going with a closed toe pump or something.  But NO, I was doing it!  Once I got out my door and into my car, It was nothing!  I didn't even think about all day.  And I actually rather enjoyed looking down at them from time to time while on my travels.  And as per usual the day went off without a hitch.  It is getting harder and harder to figure out what I have to do shock people these days.  lol  Actually, forget the shock!  I would settle for just a friendly conversation about what me or the other person was wearing.  Wishful thinking I guess.  But anyhow.  On to the outfit and pics.

    Here is what I wore.

    The outfit

    1) yellow with blue printed t shirt

    2) bootcut jeans

    3) Aldo brown gladiator style wedges

    4) small tan cross body bag

    Enjoy!  Comments and suggestions welcome

  3. I'd hate or love to see what your definition of a skinny heel is.

I thin I was misunderstood when I said chunky heel.  I just mean that they were a little thicker and wider than most of the stilettos I own.  But definitely not "chunky" chunky lol  And the heel is a lot more stable than most as a result.

They do have a slightly "cone heel" appearance. My heel-shape sweet spot would be thinner than that with a nice tapered shape, but not pencil thin (they can look nice on others but they don't suit my build). Having said that I really like some chunkier heels shapes and wedges too, so it's not just about thick/thin for me, some very subtle changes in heel shape can make all difference.

Cone heel was the exact word I was looking for.

  4. Here is my latest acquisition.  The brand is "Paprika".  The color is hot pink/fuschia.  The heel is a little bit chunkier and measures around 5 inches with a 3/4 inch platform.  They fit me just a tad small in the toe area.  But I think I can work them in.  They look brand spanking new!  And I picked them up in a thrift store for less than $20!

  5. I'm back with another outing to report.  Just a quick trip today.  I knew I wouldn't be out very long, so I chose a quick casual outfit.  I knocked off a few quick errands.  The rest of the time was spent just window shopping and general Mr. X time.  The day went off without a hitch.  Even though my heels were more or less on display the entire time, except for what my pants covered.  Now on to the outfit and pics. The outfit 1) mens casual black polo style t-shirt 2) womens dark wash slim flare leg jeans 3) BCBG wine colored croc skin heels 4) black camera/carry all bag Comments and suggestions always welcome!

  6.

The other night, I wore teal colored capri jeans with a white polo shirt and a pair of white wedge heel sandal slides, from Covington (Sears) that I bought a few years back. Because the shoes are white they only get worn in the summer. They looked great with my ensemble. I will be posting some pics when I get time to do so.

    Happy Heeling,

    bluejay

Can't wait to see the pics!

Mr. X: Yes, that is certainly a nice look, but it could use some tweaking here and there like Shafted suggested. Otherwise, well done!

    I will definitely be tweaking.

  7. Tip: Cuff the jeans up so that the excess slack material is taken up. They look like they were made for someone with very long legs.

The top, I like the waist darts. Not so much the chest darts. I like it better with the jacket.

    Kudos on embracing color!

I will definitely try cuffing the jeans.  I noticed the jeans slack too!  Not when I bought them though.  Plus I kinda put this outfit together in a hurry, It definitely needs some tweaking!

  8. I was out the other day shopping at one of the local thrift stores.  I have been looking to add some colored jeans to my wardrobe, but they have been eluding me without spending an arm and a leg!   While I was browsing I came upon 6 pairs of colored jeans in various colors, and in my size.  I went to try them on.  Unfortunately, only  1 pair fit.  But fit they did!  They  were more comfortable than any pant I can remember owning.   And they were skinny to boot!  The price was also reasonable so they cam home with me. Now here is the skinny on the jeans.  No pun intended!  They are Forever 21 in a mint green color.  Since I got them home I have been putting together outfits with them.  Here is what I have come up with. The outfit 1) "The Limited" white ladies dress shirt 2) "Rickis" black ladies jacket 3) "Forever 21" mint green skinny jeans 4) "Aldo" white d'orsay style heels Here is 2 pics.  One with and without the jacket.  Comments and suggestion are always welcome.  Thanks!

  9. Here is my latest purchase.  I picked them up in a thrift store for around $10.  They have slight wear and tear but nothing major.  They have a lot of life left in them.

I noticed how high they were on the shelf straight away.  I like my shoes high!  So these were right up my alley!  I checked the size and they were an 8 1/2.  I am normally a 9 1/2 to 10.  I tried them on anyway and they fit perfectly!  I don't know if my feet are shrinking, or shoes are hit or miss.  But I find myself fitting alot more 9's and 8 1/2's lately.  I now know what women mean when they say shoes can fit large or small.  But if I can go down as much as 1 shoe size, that will definitely expand my options.  ut back to the shoes.

They definitely felt high on my feet when I tried them on.  And I like high shoes!  I estimated the heel height to be between 5 and 6 inches with a hidden platform.  When I got them home I auditioned them some more.  I also measured them and took some pics.  Cant wait to take these on an outing.  Here are some stats and pics.

The shoes themselves are "Paprika" brand.  They are dark grey with black bottoms.  The heel measures 5 1/2 inches with a 1 inch platform.  I am not a huge platform fan, but I can tolerate these.

Here is a pic of the shoes and 1 of me wearing them.  What do you think?

  10. Your latest outfit looks great Jeff!  Love the blue black combo!  But the funny thing is, I noticed the glasses first!  I can't recall seeing you wear them before.  And as a glasses wearer, I noticed them straight away!  Details?  Oh, and they look good on you by the way.
