Interesting Encounter

About a month ago I decided to get rid of one of my pickups and traded it for a car that gets better millage since I drive 80 miles a day to work, so we went to one the major dealers in El Paso and the first thing I noticed was that more than half of the sales staff were women, and being a heeler the first thing I noticed to my pleasant surprise was that every one of the ladies were in heels:clap: now some heels were short but no flats. Now my wife is starting to get use to my love of heels and she knows that I am not checking the girls as much as it looking at the shoes so as we walked into the show room she remarked you are like a kid in a candy store. Now I had on my cowboy boots with a 3” heel but I sure was wishing I had on a pair of my pumps. Now we were back and forth to the dealership for 3 or 4 days and each time I never once saw any of the ladies in flats, to say the lest I was impressed. Now fast forward to this past Tuesday I wore to work a pair of Tan Van Hussein pants a black dress shirt and my black 4” almond toe pumps with black trouser socks. This is the second time that I have worn these shoes to work and again no one noticed or did not bother to say anything. I got a call from the dealership to tell me my license plates were in and I said I would be in after work. When I got to the dealership I was sort of nervous as it is a big dealer and they are usually busy, but when I got out of my car I realized that they were pretty slow as I walked up to the showroom I noticed to my left 3 female sales consultants sitting on a bench talking and to my right there was 2 guys and a girl setting on one of the trucks there in front. After I got my plates and walked out of the showroom the 3 people by the truck were gone but the 3 girls in the bench were still there and as I walked by the girl closest to me said pardon me can we talk to you I said sure and walked over to them. The same girl said are you wearing a women’s shoe and remembering a post from here I said no they are my shoes! And they all laughed so she said let me rephrase are those high heel shoes and I said yes they are and she goes on can we see so I lifted up my pant leg so they could see the shoe, then she said wow I have heard that there are guys starting to wear high heels but you are the first man in heels I have seen and the other 2 were nodding there head in agreement. Then the girl in the middle chimed in and said I don’t know that I like the idea of men wearing heels, and I responded with I accept your opinion and no offence but I really don’t care what others think the only opinion that matters to me is my wife and she is fine with it. The first girl then said you are married I thought you were then she stopped and I said gay? And she seemed embarrassed and said yea, I said nope straight married 3 daughters and 4 grand kids. That when the third girl said oh you like to cross dress I said not any more than you, you are wearing trousers does that mean you are a cross dresser? She said no I see what you mean and if you were not married I would not have a problem going out with you because I like the way you look, she went on I imagined that a guy in heels would look goofy but the way you are dressed it is a good look and I like it. Then the first girl said I to like the look just it surprised me and the middle girl said yea if men dress like you then I might get use to it. To that I said thanks and now I need to get going they all said bye and I turned and started walking across the drive way to my car I could feel them watching me and as I got to my car the first girl came across the drive towards me and said OMG you even walk better in them than most girls keep it up. She then turned and walked back to the showroom. Believe me I had a grin from ear to ear all the way home. That just gives me more incentive to keep wearing my heels.

I agree. Wonderful encounter. Especially well handled and without the first hint of acrimony. Thanks for recounting the episode.

Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

Qudos. They will talk about this to their friends and so help spread the word. Billyb... Congratulations on your outing and how you calmly handeled observations from those women. I have been lucky in the regard that the women who have commented to me verbally about my high heels has so far been positive. I have seen some looks and heard some whispers, but not even close to what you encountered. Please keep us posted on your future outings and thank you for sharing this experience with us.

Love stories like this. The only comment I have even had (that wasn't due to a shoe sales transaction) was in Las Vegas when I guy in a casino asked if I was wearing high heels. He seemed to be wanting to wear them too and was happy to see another guy wearing them in public. Few odd looks here and there but most people won't say anything, good or bad. Cassie

Very nice billyb, great story. I agree that you handled that extremely well. It's a shame the first thoughts that come to everyone's mind, at least you are convincing a few minds at a time that we are not so bad. I only hope the first time I get noticed, I can handle it as well as you did. It has been less than a year of me streetheeling and mine are rather discreet, so I have not had any encounters close to that yet.

Billyb:-) Loved reading your story about your encounter with the 3 lady car salespersons. You handled the situation admirably. Now that they broke the ice maybe the discussions can continue when you visit the dealership for your maintennce periods. If this occurs don't hesitate to let us all know what happens. By all means, pics of your outfit should be in the offing. Cheers--- Dawn HH
