meganiwish Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 But this is the hand I shoot with. Gene Wilder, a very funny man. 1
Bubba136 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 The real problem with talented people whose work you enjoy so much is that they don't do enough of it before they're no longer with us. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Shyheels Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 No kidding. One of my favourite writers, Norman MacLean, didn't publish his first, and only, novel - the achingly beautiful A River Runs Through It - until he was in his mid-seventies. And then died shortly afterwards!
Logjam Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Gene W was one of my favorites! He will be missed. Logjam

Dune comes to mind. Awesome book that touches about many core themes. The books that followed....., not so much.
Shyheels Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 True. Better to leave your readers begging for more than having them wish you'd shut up and go away
meganiwish Posted September 16, 2016 Author Posted September 16, 2016 Of course, you do have the option of holding your counsel. Death doesn't necessarily follow as a result of keeping quiet.
Shyheels Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 How many writers or singers, for that matter, actually quit when they've nothing more they wish to say or produce? Harper Lee almost did. I suppose Abba has - they steadfastly won't regroup because they don't wish to spoil their legacy with what would bound to be badly aged work. There's J.D. Salinger, I suppose. Who else?
